Vamptember ~ Day 16: Forest

He finds himself on his back, the bottle knocked from his hand in the fall and spilling the last of the wine onto the grass. His hands are pinned to the ground by the wrists beside his head, along with his body being covered by another. Lestat blinks up at Nicki, who stares back down at him with a self-assured expression gracing his features.

Both their chests heave from the exertion of the chase, deep panting breaths accompany the sound of birds in the background. Some of Nicki’s hair has loosened from its bow and hangs down in mussed curls around his face; the sun creates an almost heavenly glow behind him as Lestat stares up at him. Despite the chill in the air, a few beads of sweat have gathered near Nicki’s hairline, making a few strands of hair stick to him in a way that makes Lestat want to reach up and brush them away.

“I told you to come here.” Nicki pants. “No, don’t smile at me like that, it’s not funny. Why must you be such an insufferable brat?”

Lestat continues to smile slyly up at him. “You love me, you know you do. I would even dare say you love my supposed ‘insufferable’ behaviour. I know how you so enjoy teaching me obedience and I like it too, that’s why I let you show me.”

“Is that right?” Nicki leans down even closer, so that his lips are hovering over Lestat’s only inches away. “So does this mean you purposefully make a show of not doing as you’re told, just so I will put you in your place, is that what you’re telling me?”

“Perhaps.” Lestat breathes and tries to lean up to meet Nicki with a kiss.

Before the gap can be closed between them, Nicki pulls back so he’s out of Lestat’s reach. He catches himself as the corners of his mouth tug up into a slight smile at Lestat’s frustration.

“Is it really a lesson though if you already know your mistakes and how I plan to correct them? It sounds to me like you’re merely asking to be punished for your misbehaviour. Where’s the lesson in that, Lestat? What are you being taught other than to receive what you are asking for? That doesn’t sound like punishment to me, it sounds like you are claiming your reward.”

This event is 18+ only since it's focused on NSFW content. Not all fills need to be NSFW, but as the perverts that we are, we highly encourage you to get freaky with it. 

All adaptations and versions of the characters are welcome; books, comics, the 1994 film, or the AMC TV show. You can specify which in your post if you think it's relevant.

There are 31 prompts, one for each day, but feel free to use multiple prompts per creation or mix and match as you like.

All fan creations are welcome; fanfiction, fanart, fanvids, edits, podfics, whatever you feel inspired to create.

We are firm believers of “don't like don't read”, so be sure to curate your experience if there are any prompts you don't vibe with.

This is a low-pressure event—whether you fill one day or all of them, the aim is to have fun and be creative.

i have Arrived to the birthday bash with my meager contribution for the first prompt

i had a couple ideas for how to Illustrate their dynamic and the idea of the red thread but this is the one that won out in the end. mostly by virtue of it being the easiest for me to draw. which is saying something. it's saying A Lot, actually, bc the amount of irl cutting and pasting i had to do to try to get this to look even slightly Right shaved a year off my life i think

i'm mostly pretty happy with the result tho!! it makes me smile looking at it so i'd consider that a win

MicroFic May - A Vampire Chronicles Fandom Event

What:

Four prompts will be given each week, for all four weeks in May, starting on Sunday, May 4. The goal is to use one or more of those prompts to create short fiction for that week: drabbles, ficlets, vignettes, and short works aiming to be between 100 to 1000 words. (Though no one is going to be mad if you go a little over.)

You can post your work on Tumblr, AO3, anywhere you post fic. Please tag @vcmicroficmay and use the hashtag #vcmicroficmay to help us find your work so we can share it, and feel free to message us if you think we missed your entry!

Why:

Short fiction is great! It’s challenging to keep things short but that’s part of the fun. A limited number of words can really draw things into focus and can highlight things that might otherwise get lost. It allows writers to explore new ideas or ideas that one would not necessarily write a longer story about. It offers the chance to explore little moments and slices of life without the pressure of turning it into a longer work.

Rules:

Entries should aim to be between 100 words to 1000 words, though no one is going to be counting and it’s fine to go a little over (or under!)

Works can be inspired by The Vampire Chronicles books, the IwtV movie, the AMC show, the musical, whatever.

Late entries are great!! Creativity doesn’t work on a schedule. We appreciate your fic no matter when it appears.

You can post your work on Tumblr, AO3, or wherever you post fic and link to it from Tumblr. We will have a collection on AO3 you will be able to add your work to as well.

Please consider sharing and commenting on other people’s entries as that’s part of the fun!

Ghosts

Vamptember ~ Day 15: Ghosts

“There was nothing you could do.” Armand tells him again, sorrow and regret evident in his tone. “It wasn’t your fault.” He pauses while he studies Lestat for a moment, then says, “Many years ago now, I told Louis that very few vampires have the stamina to endure immortality. The ones who don’t will eventually come to that realisation, they will realise that they don’t have it in them to face forever. They face only despair and fear for what the future will hold for them, they are corrupted by it, and seeing that there is no end to their turmoil, they find their freedom in death. He had to do it, Lestat. Nothing was going to stop him and believe me when I say I did try to sway him.”

Lestat shakes his head and frowns at Armand. “He wasn’t some old dog to be put down after no longer being able to serve his master.” He retorts harshly. “He was a person, he was one of us. He was happy once.”

This time, it’s Armand’s turn to shake his head, only his expression remains dejected. “That’s not what I’m saying. Don’t you see? He may have been happy once but that passed; the darkness overtook him, he couldn’t see clearly anymore. He was suffering as a prisoner of his own mind. To at least try and talk him down was all I could do but I couldn’t force him to leave his thoughts of the funeral pyre behind. He’d already convinced himself that that’s what needed to be done and I couldn’t get in the way of that; it would only have done more harm than good. What he did, it was a mercy to himself.”

“I just wanted him to be happy.” Lestat says in a small, broken voice. “Why couldn’t he be happy?”

Armand glances down and shakes his head again. “I don’t know. I don’t think he knew how. Happiness was simply too difficult for him to achieve, his mind was far too fractured. But it wasn’t up to you to fix him, it wasn’t even up to me. All I could do was attempt to control his tempers but I couldn’t salvage his broken mind.”

“Control his tempers.” Lestat lets out a small laugh and gives Armand a weakened smile. “Like when you cut off his hands and left him to starve?”

“He was erratic, nothing else would keep him in check.”

Lestat nods. “I know, you were only trying to help. You did what you had to do.”
