This Vegan Burger with Portobello Buns is a mouthwatering and nutritious plant-based burger option. It features marinated grilled portobello mushrooms as buns and a savory vegan patty loaded with fresh toppings. A perfect choice for a satisfying and healthy burger experience.
Ingredients: 4 large portobello mushrooms. 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 1/4 cup olive oil. 4 vegan burger patties. 4 whole wheat burger buns. 1 avocado, sliced. 1 red onion, thinly sliced. 1 tomato, sliced. 4 lettuce leaves. Vegan mayonnaise. Mustard. Ketchup. Salt and pepper, to taste.
Instructions: Take the stems off of the portobello mushrooms and put them in a shallow dish. Mix the soy sauce, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar in a small bowl with a whisk. Put this on top of the mushrooms. Turn the mushrooms over a few times during the 15 minutes of marinating. Set your grill or grill pan on medium-high heat to get it ready to use. The marinated portobello mushrooms should be cooked on the grill for four to five minutes on each side, or until they are soft and have grill marks. Add pepper and salt to taste. While the mushrooms are cooking on the grill, make the vegan burger patties the way the package says to. For a minute or two, toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill until they get a little brown. Spread vegan mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup on the buns to make your burgers. On the bottom bun, put a lettuce leaf. Then add a vegan patty, grilled portobello mushrooms, avocado slices, red onion slices, and tomato slices. Put the other half of the bun on top and serve hot.
