they picked us in hs and they marrionetted me to imprint on them like a baby duck (at least the guys for sure - lily and i may or may not have been given a preemptive legal defense in the form of bipolar ii)

so ive seen a lot of people say the show blammed marrionete for chat blanc, and all of you saying it was hawkmoths fault

how is that per say?

what does the show do?

I mean all Akumas are Hawkmoth's fault lmao but I get what you mean.

Okay so summary of Chat Blanc in general because idk how much you know:

Chat Blanc is sort of a 'what if?' episode that is still semi-Canon. As there are two Miraculous with Time Travel this is allowed.

The 'what if' leads to Adrien learning that Marinette is Ladybug and the two of them start dating. Gabriel tries to break them up to get a powerful Akuma out of Mari, which results in him finding out their Identities as well. We see the 'final battle', which involves Gabriel trying to emotionally manipulate Adrien into switching sides, and eventually Akumatizing him into Chat Blanc.

Blanc is very powerful, having the abilities of Unlimited Destruction. This leads to the destruction of.... well. At least Paris is empty and flooded and both Ladybug and Hawkmoth(along with possibly some civilians) are nothing but ash.

Back to the Time Travel Miraculous! Alix has the Rabbit Miraculous at some point in a 'good' future, going by the name 'Bunnyx', and it is her job to prevent 'bad' futures like this one. So she pulls the present Ladybug to the Blanc Timeline so that she could help defeat him and figure out why things went fucky in the first place.

Now. Bunnyx sees the whole thing from above. All Ladybug learns about why Blanc happened is that Chat Noir found out who she was, since Blanc called her 'Marinette'.

This, plus the fact that they go all the way back to prevent her from slipping up with Adrien instead of just going back to when Gabriel found out, makes Marinette believe that somehow Chat finding out who she is will lead to the Blanc Timeline. It doesn't help that the 'lesson' of the episode was about abusing her superpowers for her own needs as that's how Adrien found out.

So yeah Marinette 100% blames herself and the narritive also kind of tries to blame her as well for slipping up, even though none of it was really her fault Gabriel is just a fuck.

So I’m still thinking about how I would produce Cats and decided to make a playlist with the version of each song I would use for the show.

Some notes (warning: it’s long), if you have any other ideas, suggestions, or better videos please share with me, i need someone to talk to about all this.

1. I made the playlist as if I was using it for an actual, yet amateur, show so i tried to get rid of interruptions between songs and added extra songs/sound effects for the transition that are not included in the song themselves; aka all Macavity scares.

2. I did this with a few songs, but I chose the 1998 version of the Rum Tum Tugger because John Partridge has my favorite voice and energy for the song. Some thing I would change is more interactions between Tugger and Mistoffelees like in the Broadway Revival, I just couldn’t find a good better video to use.

3. I love the original Broadway version of Bustopher Jones, but the 1998 film has the only full version of the song I could find.

4. I had a post about this before, but I love Mistoffelees singing Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer’s song. That might be Timothy Scott’s fault though....not that I care, I love his voice.

5. I understand adding both The Pekes and Pollicles, and Growltiger’s Last Stance it would make the show unnecessarily long, but this is imaginary so i can do what I want. Also, I love the contrast between Munkustrap trying to put on a play like Gus might do and no one following his script, while in Gus’ reenactment of Growltiger everything would go smoothly with Munkustrap admiring how well the play turned out. I also saw the revival’s version of the Pekes and the Pollicles, but I feel the Rumpus Cat would be like a Superman for the cats so it makes more sense if Munkustrap is the one taking care of that play.

6. Lightning replacing a Macavity scare and the Overture working as an intrelude. Pacing is everything

7. We talked about Growltiger, but I also love the more confident versions of Gus. The more gentle version of the character are extremely emotional and I love them, but I enjoy seeing Gus as a confident but not very coordinated cat at his old age.

8. Original Broadway version of Macavity because it’s the only video with the full song I could find.

9. Similar reason to my choice for Tugger’s song, 1998 version of Mr. Mistoffelees is the one I could find with the full lyrics to the song and the best quality. Some things I would change, include the conjuring turns, and I would gladly use the full 1998 version of the song if it ever gets released. Next, I would change the type of magic tricks he does and use smoke, trapdoors, and marrionetes/wind-up toys, again very George Melies style of magic.

10. Overall, I would try to not use props, unless they were absolutely necessary, because for me this show is a tribe of cats partying and singing about each other. With the exception of the obvious songs, they would not need props for everything. I am also curious to see how this would work in an outdoor amphitheater of sorts, similar to the old Greek and Roman theaters but with lights. I know this type of theater would make trap doors hard to use for Mr Mistoffelees’ song, but, again, this is an imaginary situation that would probably never happen.

If you're up for it, could I ask what Pollen and Marrionet's relationship like?

It’s a little shaky at first. Not because they don’t WANT to get along! But canon Pollen is subservient and submissive (a Good Worker Bee) which goes against Marinette’s “We’re Partners and Equals” work style.

Marinette looks to Tikki for guidance, so Pollen having to step up as a more advisory role would take time for her to get comfortable with. Yes, Pollen is a thousand year old God with the knowledge to match, but she’d be very restrained because she’s not used to be asked for her opinion.  She’s supportive in nature, and I can see Pollen being very nurturing of Marinette during her emotional lows, but when it comes to moments of “What do I do?” Pollen prefers to defer to the Miraculous Holder.

This could help increase Marinette’s Leader Drive (which doesn’t need that much work in canon, but as long as we’re going more extreme with character traits, why not also Marinette?) There could be moments where Marinette leans into a more bossy role but comes back down because Chat needs a partner on equal footing and is going to be extra resistant to a partner that puts themselves above him.

I see this relationship bringing more change in Pollen than in Marinette to be honest.
