turns out the gerbera blooms are NOT yellow but in fact pink! and there’s another bloom popping up for sure, and i THINK i see another one, so there might be four flowers on it :OOO it went from zero to blooming really suddenly
i repotted a struggling fern yesterday so im hoping he’s gonna do okay. kinda my fault for leaving him in the container i bought him in. its supposed to be one of those self watering pots that you put water in the bottom of, but i dont think it really works
franklin the tomato plant update as well, he’s getting really big and robust! the one tomato he had when i bought him hasnt really grown or changed at all in a few months, but there’s now about 10-20 blooms that have been hanging out for a couple weeks. it will probably get too hot and make the blooms fall before theyre able to turn into tomatoes unfortunately, but i dont really expect him to produce much. im just glad he survived lol
the forget me not i grew from seed (her name is Betty From Riverdale. not just betty, but Betty From Riverdale) got a long overdue repotting and seems to be adjusting fine! she was very rootbound in a tiny container without drainage but she was being really cool about it
malabar spinach seeds have not sprouted yet, but im told once they get going then they start growing FAST
ive also been experimenting with sticking food scraps in the ground to see if theyll grow. so far ive got a potato with a bunch of shoots, two different romaine bases that arent putting out any roots but are somehow still growing, some bok choy that hasnt sprouted yet, and a brussels sprout that finally put out a tiny root! im trying desperately to get these thyme cuttings to root without any rooting powder, but theyre not giving me much. i think theyre just rotting :/ ill give them more time though
i cut a piece of shoot off the top of my oldest lucky bamboo and found there was a little spider living in the leaves! i left him to his business but i think he may have moved to a different plant
my old reliable pothos isnt the most full and beautiful since hes been left in dorms over break with just florescent light and no water, but hes very long! in fact hes almost as tall as i am! i know i should trim him to encourage fuller growth but i get scared because i love him so much :( i know he’ll be okay because that motherfucker is never gonna die but it still makes me nervous
the palm tree is still kind of upset with me.... putting it outside in partial sun/high humidity seems to be a much better deal for it and the leaf tip browning has slowed. however its definitely too cramped in that pot, i can see the roots creeping up out of the dirt because they have nowhere to go, which is probably why its losing some fronds
lastly theres some new additions to the family!! @currentuser gave me a bigass aloe plant, and my roommate brought home a big spider plant and a little spider plant :] the houseplant tally begins to climb...............
