TRANSLATION When I lived in Melbourne, for about a month, a month and a half, in my neighborhood, Thornbury, someone opened a bar that was basically hastily set up inside a garage and it was very simple, there was the counter where you could order drinks, and then all along the walls there were benches, attached to the wall, with high stools, or rather not stools, they were another thing that I will now tell you what it was, then at each station there was a screen, like a television screen, and this place was a place dedicated to cyclists. In fact, taking advantage of the countertrend both seasonally and temporally, in fact in June in Melbourne it's winter, it's the middle of winter, they put instead of stools, bicycles, exercise bikes, the kind that are in the gym with which you can pedal without going anywhere, and this place was only showing on the televisions the stages of the Tour de France, when it was live it was showing it live, when it corresponded to the time it was open, otherwise it was showing recordings. I went there once and I must say that it was a very nice experience, especially when you went there at night, because it stayed open late, to also see the kind of people who go there. I thought about that bar, which then I think closed down right after the end of the Giro, or rather the Tour, if cycling fans hear me [saying Giro] they'll whack me over the head, I came up with another kind of bar that you could open, so I'll give you the idea then if anyone does open it, let you know, that is to use those videos that, there are several on youtube, show virtual walks. Basically someone puts a GoPro camera on their head and then walks for hours, 1 hour or 2 hours what you want, through the streets of different cities, different landscapes. I am currently following one called Virtual Japan and there are these walks, both during the day and at night, through the streets of Tokyo. Nothing much, simply a person walking, and so you follow at the same pace this person is walking. Here, take a garage, put stations there, instead of bicycles, put tapirulans, and then put small screens where you will show, everyone can look up then in a menu if they want to walk in Tokyo, New York, Milan or the desert. In my opinion, this is something that would work because it would combine the curiosity of seeing places you don't know with the enjoyment, maybe even inspire some writers who want to set one of their adventures or novels there. Eh, how about that?

This is one of my favorite walks which I took in Thailand back in January 2020. It's the northernmost spot of Karon Beach which I decided to explore early in the morning (at around 7 a.m.) while there was no one around. At first, I came upon some cute summer cottages and shrines, but then beyond the area I found myself in the wild of Thailand. It really felt like a wild jungle! I even had to crawl through some thickets because there was no other way to traverse. But what I saw was just fantastic and I'm so glad I had my camera with me. Join me and see it all too! Enjoy the walk. 😉

The ocean exudes a magnetic energy that inspires inner peace, mental clarity, and freedom from distractions. What factors come together to create such a tranquil environment?
One of the most fundamental elements is the soothing sound of the waves gently lapping at the shore, creating a meditative melody that banishes disruptions, promotes mindfulness, lowers stress levels, and encourages concentration. It regulates heart rate and breathing while ushering in a sense of inner calm.
Beyond the mesmerizing rhythm of the waves is the vast and breathtaking expanse of the ocean, which stretches as far as the eye can see. This awe-inspiring vista can broaden our perspective, helping us to understand our place within the vast universe. It fosters positivity and restores our emotional and mental vitality, allowing us to focus on what matters most in our lives.
The ocean's calming effect is further enhanced by a host of other factors like the saltwater scent and the gentle tides. Walking barefoot on the pristine beach helps us to ground ourselves, providing clarity of thought and leading to profound relaxation.
Engaging in ocean-focused activities such as water sports or leisurely walks fuels our sense of adventure and unlocks our creative potential. This natural wonder is a wellspring of inspiration that stimulates cognitive performance, driving us to concentrate and unlock our imaginative capabilities.
Above all, the ocean is a haven that offers a crucial escape from the din and demands of daily life. It has unparalleled benefits for managing stress, improving concentration, and promoting emotional and mental wellbeing. For those seeking to integrate mindfulness practices and harness nature's power to foster mental health, our partner blog offers additional resources. The ocean is a haven of peace, offering a much-needed reprieve for relaxation and mental clarity. But what is it about this vast body of water that makes it so effective at promoting tranquility and concentration?
One of the primary reasons is the constant, soothing sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore. This calming auditory filter helps block out distractions and allows us to live in the present moment. In turn, it reduces anxiety and stress, improves focus and attention, regulates heart rate and breathing, and brings a deep sense of contentment.
Another reason why many find the ocean so restful is the hypnotic view of the vast horizon stretching out before us. The vast expanse of water reminds us of our place in the natural world and promotes a balanced perspective. Gazing out at the horizon releases negative thoughts, replenishes our mental and emotional energy levels, and helps us focus on what truly matters.
Being in close proximity to the ocean provides a range of physical sensations that enhance relaxation and mental clarity. Breathing in the salty air and feeling the gentle sway of the waves provides a profound sense of calm. Walking barefoot on the sand can improve concentration, grounding our minds and refreshing our thinking.
Ultimately, the ocean offers endless opportunities for exploration, creativity, and adventure, inspiring new ideas and passions. Engaging in aquatic activities or taking a leisurely stroll on the beach can ignite our imaginations, improve concentration, and enhance mental acuity.
In conclusion, escaping to the ocean can significantly reduce stress and boost concentration, providing a unique and enjoyable respite from the chaos of daily life. The seaside is a special sanctuary that offers incredible benefits. Yesterday we took a walk from Azabujuban shopping street to Shiba park and Zojoji. The very first day not wearing a coat! The virtual walk is on my YouTube channel (link in stories). I started these walks because I want to show my family back home the places I see - and I love Tokyo too much! The building was the main gate of the mausoleum of Hidetada Tokugawa, the second shogun of the Edo Shogunate, and is an important cultural property. The mausoleum was built on the south side of the precincts of Zojo-ji Temple in 1788, the year Hidetada died. It was the largest of the Tokugawa family mausoleums, but most of it was destroyed in the WWII raids. 🚇 Closer stations: Shibakoen (Mita line) and Akabanebashi (Oedo line).

*WARNING! - BRAGGING ALERT!* I DID IT ! My virtual walk from Lands End to John O’Groats. Back on the 27th February this year I started recording my dedicated walks. This didn’t include all the daily steps and walking done in the house, the office or anything under 20 minutes. I thought it was today, after my 40 minute stroll on this beautiful -1°c 🥶 morning. Slip sliding on the icy paths I arrived at the Swan Shopping Centre, that I had completed the 1306.35km, that’s 811.9 miles in old money. It was actually yesterday that I completed it. I had forgotten to link my December sheet to the summary. 🤦🏻 OK. That’s enough back slapping. Time to turn around and walk back. I should arrive in Cornwall just in time for summer 🌞 #walk #walking #fitness #health #virtualwalk #landsendtojohnogroats #positivevibes #positivewaves #metalhobbit (at Birmingham, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl3A5T-ojtC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
