Another Voltron x Avatar AU but Keith takes Shiros place so this will be a Keith/Adam oneshot that I might expand upon. Anyways this oneshot will have a brief mention of a dead character(Shiro).

Keith was sitting in a meeting room with Zarkon and other higher ups. He was barely paying attention to what they were saying. His mind was focused on a Na'vi named Adam. His mission was to mate with Adam since he was the cheifs son and convince the clan that something was wrong with their home. Yet Keith couldn't find it in himself to do it.

Keith felt conflicted about it. He was close to Adam, in fact he genuinely wanted to be mated to Adam. On the other hand, Earth was destroyed and Pandora had exactly what they needed to save it. Keith frowned slightly. What would Shiro do? Would he side with Pandora or Earth? Keith knew the answer. His brother was a good man, he would never play with the Na'vi like that. In fact Shiro would probably be disappointed that Keith was even attempting too.

"Kogane." Keith looked up and saw that almost everyone was looking at him. "What?" Keith's tone was harsh. "No need to be grumpy. We just need to know how far along are you with Adam?" Zarkon crossed his arms. Keith hummed. "We're close, he trusts me." Keith crossed his arms as he stared at Zarkon. "Close enough for him to want to be mated to you?" Zarkon had a small grin on his face.

Keith scowled slightly. "Most likely not. He doesn't even want to mate with the person he's promised too and they're supposed to be compatible." Keith looked at Sam. "Even according to Sam, they're supposed to be compatible in every sense," Keith told him.

It was the truth. Adam had no interest in mating with the one he was promised to. In fact, Adam seemed to hate the dude, so obviously Adam would probably have no interest in mating with him. "Then their compatibility doesn't matter. You're going to find a way to become his mate." Zarkon seemed pissed. Keith nodded. "Now get on with it," Zarkon hissed.

Keith woke up to the sun of Pandora hidden behind the leaves, still rising. Keith sat up and looked around. That's when his eyes landed on Adam. Adam was still asleep in the hammock next to him. Keith looked Adam's body over. He could see scars littering over his body, most likely from hunting. Keith layed back down, it was too early to be up if Adam is still asleep. So maybe he could get lost in his thoughts.

Keith was brought back to reality when he felt someone join him in his hammock. Keith slowly opened his eyes and looked at the person. It was Adam. Keith tilted his head slightly and looked Adam over. Adam was sitting with his legs crossed and had his tail wrapped around his waist as he worked on braiding beads together into a necklace. Keith recognized the necklace as a mating necklace.

Keith felt his heart drop slightly. He almost forgot. Adam was going to have to be mated to Astrophel by the end of the week. The necklace must be for Astrophel. So Keith needed to get over it. So he slowly sat up, his eyes focused on Adam and nothing else. "What's that?" Adam looked at him. "Its a mating necklace, for my future mate if he accepts it." Adam turned his attention back to it.

Keith didn't get why his heart hurt, Adam was a mission. Nothing more and nothing less, yet it hurts to hear Adam talk about the man he's promised to even if Adam hates him. "I'm sure he will after all Astrophel is in love you." Keith gave Adam a soft smile. However the mention of Astrophel caused Adam's ears to pin back and to cause the tuff of hair at the tip of his tail to puff out.

"Its not for him, I will never make him a mating necklace for I will never love him enough to make him one. This is for someone else." Adam smiled at the necklace before looking at Keith. Keith sat up and put a hand on Adam's arm. "Well whoever it is, I'm sure they'll accept it and gladly be your mate." Keith gave Adam a soft smile.

Adam looked at Keith. Their eyes meeting. Keith broke the eye contact and looked at the necklace in Adam's hands. It was beautiful. It looked as if Adam was pouring the entirety of his feelings into the making of it. Keith felt jealous, jealous of the person that was receiving the necklace and he didn't know why.

Keith went to remove his hand from Adam's arm but before he could, Adam leaned into him. Keith looked at him, Adam's eyes were focused on the necklace as he got back to work. Keith hummed and moved his hand to rest on Adam's lower back. Maybe he could relish in the fact that he'll be able to understand Adam better than whoever Adam wished to mate.

Lance is so fucking annoying. Keith has decided that his mindset from when he was 18 (and sexually confused—actually, maybe just repressed?) is now superior.

Keith hates how Lance flirts with anything that even remotely looks like a woman. He hates how he jokes around too much. He hates how extensive his skin routine is. He hates how he can’t decide whether he wants to punch Lance or kiss him senseless every single time he wiggles his eyebrows as an attempt to flirt or recites a crappy one-liner at him.

His Things I Hate About Lance list is about to be updated, because they’re at yet another diplomatic party on earth (which is actually more of a “celebrating the fact that the universe didn’t get destroyed” party) and Lance is wearing a navy blue button-down shirt which is very much accentuating his muscles, and it’s causing his brain to malfunction. I guess the constant labor at the farm paid off, Keith thinks.

He’s also flirting with a lady who also seems to be extremely appreciative of Lance’s outfit choice. They look like they’re about to decimate each other in the middle of the room with how their eyes are focused solely on the other. Lance’s eyes flick over to him for a second before he just smirks at Keith—the smug fuck—then he focuses back on the girl in front of him before settling his hand on her hip and leaning closer, his voice a hushed whisper against the shell of her ear.

Keith just rolls his eyes. Not that he cares about who Lance sleeps with anyways.

“You’re drooling.” Shiro says, which earns him a moderately hard slap from Keith on his non-prosthetic arm. “You look mad, too.”

“Shut up.” Keith grumbles, because apparently his 14 year old self’s attitude is now the best way to go, “Go away.”

“Jeez, looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.”

“I said, shut it! Or else telling Adam you made out with Curtis.”

“Please, they’re probably making out with each other as of this moment.”

“Gross!”

“What are you, 12?”

Keith does not go ahead and answer that question, mostly because he doesn’t want to admit that he’s acting more and more immature as the seconds that he stares at Lance and the woman go by.

Shiro, who has been a spectator of Keith pining over the Red Paladin since the early days of Voltron, sighs, before ruffling Keith’s hair, “Please just try and talk out whatever this weird sexual tension between you and him is. For me, please? I’ve already constructed a customized shovel talk for him if you ever do get with him, and let’s just say updating it over the years—”

“Alright, alright! I’ll do it!”

“Thanks, child.”

“Child? Is that what we’re doing now?”

“Just go!”

Keith, both fortunately and unfortunately, does not get to talk to Lance until after the party. He walks around the ballroom, and multiple people tell him Lance was last seen walking out eagerly with a girl, so he waits until the next day to talk to him.

What feels unsettling is that how most of the people who let him know about where Lance has gone were talking in an almost…disappointed manner; like they had expected better from him. Which is ridiculous, because for starters, Lance doesn’t need to be all serious and on guard all of the time, especially since they’re celebrating the fact that they had won the war—in fact, it would be out of character for Loverboy Lance to not flirt with at least one person at a party. Secondly, Lance is basically still a kid. Sure, he’s been through some stuff, but he’s still 20 years old. He wouldn’t even have graduated college by now!

Keith gets that they are the Paladins of Voltron, and their duty is to protect the universe, but sometimes the expectations people have for them make them look like flawless, error-free machines who never make mistakes or miss a beat, when it’s far from that. They’re human too. They mess up plans like half the time (maybe not half, but you get the point)!

When he’s walking to Lance’s house—somewhere about a 5 minute walk away from the city and a 10 minute walk from his own house—he stops in his tracks.

What is he even going to say to him?

He can’t be flat-out, outright straightforward with Lance and say, “Oh, I’m kinda in love with you, and have been for the past 5 or so years, so could we stop this friends-with-benefits situationship we have going on and just cut to the real deal?”, but he also can’t be too vague with it.

Though, if there’s anything that Voltron has taught him, one of the things would be, without a doubt, is that you always have to be prepared to improvise.

He knocks on the cold wood, and just when Keith is about to reconsider even coming here, the door opens.

In the course of 5 seconds, Keith goes from knocking on a door to being slammed against that same door. Not that he’s going to complain.

“Sorry—” Lance manages in between kisses, “—about—” a kiss on his forehead, “—yesterday.” He kisses Keith gently on the lips, adding more pressure when the smaller’s arms come to wrap around his neck.

Just as Keith relaxes, he breaks the kiss, genuinely confused, “Wait, what?”

“It’s just that you seemed genuinely sad when I was flirting with her, and—” Lance attempts to explain, only for Keith to cut him off.

“Hey, don’t apologize to me for that.” Keith protests. “I was just jealous that you looked fucking amazing in that dress shirt and she was the one who got to have you. Besides, we aren’t exclusive.”

He expects Lance to loosen up—maybe brag about how he wooed Keith with his dazzling looks, but he sure as Zarkon and Honerva themselves does not expect him say this:

“But what if I want to be exclusive?”

Keith’s heart catches in his throat, eyes widening like saucers, “What?”

“I said,” Lance looks straight at Keith, his gaze piercing,

“What if I want to be exclusive?”

Oh, fuck.

Voltron:

How I first got into it:

After season two premiered, Netflix did that thing it does where it puts one of its originals on huge display at the top of the screen to advertise it to everyone. I saw it, and because I had somehow managed to avoid knowing that this was the show causing horrific Discourse™, and also because I saw that it was nice looking 2D animation, and primarily because I was bored and in need of something to watch, I figured, “Eh, why not” and put it on. I thought it was just okay until 2x08, “The Blade of Marmora” (and even that fell a bit flat at the end; why was Keith just magically okay when he almost died?), but I really loved Keith and his familial relationship with Shiro, so I jumped into the tags to look for content after I finished season two and was all caught up. My experience was like this:

Keith & Shiro, kind of, because it’s complicated. When I first watched the show this platonic, familial relationship was my absolute favorite bond in the show, particularly since I identify a lot with Keith and wish(ed) that I could have had a Shiro to raise and guide me when I was younger and in a really bad place. I did eventually meet my Shiro years later, when I was nineteen, though sadly I didn’t fully realize that until it was too late, and I wasn’t able to save him. (He died last July.) Regardless, I really loved the platonic bond these two had, so much that it eclipsed everything else … and then Fandom Discourse™ happened and ruined it for me. I still think the bond as it is in canon is nice, but I can’t really enjoy content for them anymore and haven’t been able to for a long time, which is pretty sad.

One of my favourite scenes:

Lotor’s introductory scene in the arena was a true masterpiece and sometimes I still watch that clip on YouTube, because it was amazing in absolutely every single way. He stole my heart before the scene was even over. I wanted to chant his name along with everyone else in that arena.

Favourite fandom meme/inside joke:

Most of the fandom memes and inside jokes enjoyed tearing down Keith or Lotor, so I honestly can’t say I’ve enjoyed any of them.

Steven Universe:

How I first got into it:

I accidentally watched the entire episode where Peridot discovers rain for the first time because I thought someone had uploaded just a clip onto Tumblr and didn’t realize it was the entire thing. I still didn’t plan on getting into the series just then because the beginning episodes were so uninteresting (imo) and Steven was so annoying at the beginning, but I at least enjoyed that episode and tucked that info away in the back of my mind for later.

“Later” came during a really bad anxiety spell where I needed something that wasn’t that deep but that also had a lot of episodes for me to watch and distract myself. I remembered Steven Universe and booted it up, starting from the beginning. The fact that it got so much better as it progressed led to me really enjoying it, and here we are.

One of my favourite scenes:

The first scene that came to mind is the scene where Lapis crushes Blue Diamond with the barn, and then a bit later, when she weaponizes her own chronic severe depression and trauma and tells Blue Diamond that she has “felt worse” when Blue tries to use her power on her. That was amazing.

But that said, I also really love the scene where Lapis has a bit of a breakdown because she’s not adjusting to things as well as Navy is, and she thinks there must be something wrong with her, that she has had all this time to heal and get used to time on Earth but hasn’t, and Peridot reminds her that “nobody said it was a race.” As someone with C-PTSD myself, I find that Lapis’ trauma is written quite realistically, and I love the representation she provides for people like me.

Ranks in Voltron Legendary Defender

It’s something I, admittedly, didn’t pay too much attention to before since most of the conflict took place far beyond where rank from Earth even mattered but now that we’re back, and it’s probably going to factor, I thought I’d analyze it mostly because of some...misconceptions.

Namely: Higher Rank Does not necessarily equal that Officer being older.

And: So long as they are not in each other’s chain of command, dating between officers is A-Ok (Marriage is as well).

Before I begin, based on the fact Sam Holt was called “Commander Holt” within the context of a military rank, I will be going based off the only branch of the United States Military that USES that rank: The Navy. 

I’m using the US military because Dreamworks is a US company.

Also, side note , the Navy also happens to be the only branch to use shoulder stripes. The Air force, Army, and Marines do not. 

Furthermore, an admiral is mentioned in this clip. Only one branch uses that rank as well.

This also fits within the Sci-Fi tradition of using Navy ranks since Star Trek as well as Star Wars used Navy ranks for their officer titles (except for ground forces from The Return of the Jedi where the rank of General got mixed in).

So, they appear to be (mostly) adhering to Navy Ranks. 

Now, let’s talk Shiro’s rank and Adam’s.

For reference, here’s an image of Shiro and Adam’s shoulder stripes (which do in fact show a difference in ranking here).

Shiro has three even-sized bars. 

In the Navy, that means he’s Commander Shirogane.

Now take a look at this picture of Sam Holt 

Three stripes. Also means he’s the same rank as Shiro, and since I’m using Navy Ranks, that makes him both Mission Commander and a Commander in general.

Now, Samuel Holt is MUCH older than Shiro. 

Yet, both are at the rank of “Commander.” 

Rank is something you work at instead of it being something handed to you with age (exceptions being retiring/honorably leaving the service and getting a rank added).

 Moving on to Adam, he has the rank of a full Lieutenant from his two even-sized bars visible here. 

Does that possibly mean he’s younger? 

Maybe, but I will refer you to something I know from members of my family being military.

My twin sister is in a branch of the service and she is older than her husband who happens to outrank her. 

They are allowed to be a couple because they are, in fact, in totally different departments on their base and therefore not in either’s chain of command.

It’s anecdotal to be sure, but it also boils down to the fact that he reached Active Duty Status before she could and therefore got the ball rolling on his career advancement sooner.

So, it all depends on how hard and fast Shiro climbed the ladder, and rest assured, we know he went hard and fast from his conversation with Adam.

Let’s also thrown in the fact that we don’t know what department Adam is in, but since they were openly a couple, he’s not within Shiro’s chain of command. 

If Shiro was an admiral then maybe there might be an issue here, but he’s not. So they’re golden. 

Tl;Dr: higher rank =/= older officer because sometimes people are very good at climbing the ladder of advancement. Also, if officers date, it’s ok so long as they are not within the same chain of command.

Voltron Season 7 Thought so far ...

I got to say I'm upset with how the seasons going so far.Some things were good some bad.This all just my opinion though no hate to the creaters.

-Allura and Lance.Do I even need to explain I mean one way just not feeling it.I mean I would have accepted it if they portrayed it better made it not seem like lance was a rebound.It was honestly too rushed

-Keith and (forgot her name) the blue girl with navy hair.THIS SENT ME UP THE ACTUALLY WALL.One I'm super klance but that not even what bother me about this.One it was so out of the blue and I hate it like no Keith just was the character was just so gay to everyone then all of a sudden straight.Nah honey boo boo that aight gonna fly with the fandom.

-Adam.Do I even need to explain.Adan barley got screen time and they killed him off CRUSHING all Hope's of him and shiro being toghter again and apologizing.If they were gonna have to kill Adam I rather have it done in a better way like self sacrificing for shiro you know in a more honorable way.

-Fricken Matt.He lookin so sassy and sharp I mean he just gets better and better.

In short the season had it ups and down and I'm kinda disappointed but I'm not give up on voltron hopefully they can fix there mistake some how and let the show go out with a bang when season 8 comes around.I wanna be hopeful.Ive been with Voltron for a year and they have 6 fabulous season so I have a bit of fate then they can fix some of what they just made.

A Voltron: Avatar AU again but I might actually turn it into a fic on AO3 at some point.

Quick thing: Adam is Na'vi while Shiro is an avatar. Also this little one shot will take place before the two mate or well it'll be like the scene where Adam is trying to get Shiro to mate someone but nothing explicit will be written.

Shiro was eating breakfast before he had to return back to his avatar body. Shiro found being in his avatar body to be more freeing. Plus he got to be near Adam when he's in his avatar body. Shiro found himself getting closer to the Na'vi, his friends told him that he might want to back off since Adam is promised to another. Yet Shiro couldn't find himself to.

Shiro smiled when he woke up in his hammock, his smile grew when he saw that Adam was sitting in it while waiting for him to wake up. Shiro slowly sat up, his eyes focused on Adam. "Hey." Shiro looked Adam over. Adam looked at him and gave a smile.

Adam grabbed Shiros arm and stood up. "Let's go for a ride." Adam said. Shiro hummed. Adam pulled the avatar up. Shiro noticed that Adam's tail was swaying back and forth. Shiro grinned. "Let's make it a race." Shiro watched as Adam's smile widened. That's when Adam pulled Shiro out of the hammock. Shiro felt his smile grow even though he didn't think it was possible.

Shiro and Adam took their Ikrans out for a short ride, Adam ending up beating him to a floating mountain with perfect ease. Shiro didn't care though because Adam looked so happy that he won. However they didn't stay at the mountain for long because Adam wanted to take Shiro someplace and talk to him. That made Shiro nervous but he ignored it and followed the Na'vi.

Shiro followed close behind Adam as the shorter male led him through a bunch of trees. Shiro recognized them as spirit trees, a way for you to talk to loved ones who passed on. Shiro didn't understand why Adam was taking him here but Shiro hoped that it was for reasons more intimate than bad.

"Why did you bring me here?" Shiro asked. Adam had his back facing him as a seed of Eywa landed in his hands. "Many wish to mate with you." Adam's voice sounded bitter, as if he didn't like the fact that many wanted to be with Shiro. Shiro frowned slightly. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Shiro stared at Adam. His eyes looking over Adam once more.

"It truly depends on who you mate with. If you want I can help you find your best suitable mate." Adam guided the seed of Ewya to fly with the others. Shiro hummed. "I'd like that." Shiro took a step closer to Adam. "Theres Merla, she's a lovely healer. She knows how to hunt as well." Shiro watched as Adam's tail flicked.

"I'm not interested in Merla or women." Shiro watched as Adam's ears twitched. "Well there's Astrophel, he's a lovely hunter as well. He leads most of them in fact and your personalities would go well together." Shiro hummed. "You're right." He noticed how Adam's tail flicked again. Shiro walked closer to Adam.

"However I don't want Astrophel. In fact I already have someone in mind who I wish to be my mate." Shiro put his hand on Adam's lower back. Adam looked at Shiro. Shiro noticed how his eyes looked over his face. "Who? I'm sure they wish to be your mate as well." Adam met Shiros eye. Shiro smiled.

"You have to answer my question first." Shiro glanced at Adam's lips. "Go ahead." Adam gave Shiro a small nod. Shiro was nervous to ask but he had to. He had to ask before it was to late and he lost his chance. "Do you want to be my mate?" Shiro kept his voice quiet. Shiro looked over Adam once more. He saw how Adam's ears twitched and how his tail flicked. However that didn't answer his question. "Yes." Adam put a hand on Shiros arm.

The two were now facing each other. They were both holding their braids. Their queues were exposed. "It is similar to bonding with your Ikran. We connect our queues together and we'll be bonded for life." Adam looked at Shiro. Shiro nodded. Shiro and Adam brought their queues together and they met in the middle. The tendrils interlocked on they touched. Shiro kept his eyes on Adam. It felt as though Shiro could feel every part of Adam without touching him. It was odd and created a need to actually touch the other male. Shiro dropped his braid in order to pull Adam close and into his lap.

Shiro noticed that Adam dropped his braid as well in favor of holding onto him. Shiro looked at Adam's face before pulling him into a kiss that Adam gladly returned. Shiro kept his hands on Adam as the kiss turned into something more.

Just a small Avatar(the blue one) x Voltron AU oneshot. The Paladins + Rebels are the humans while Adam and other are the Na'vi. I'm not sure if it'll be Adashatt or Adashotor so ships will not be brought up.

Adam was hiding in the trees with his bow and arrow when he saw a group of Na'vi walking around. However the group were wearing fabrics Adam never saw before along with something on their feet. The group were also carrying objects Adam never saw before.

Adam only stared as one of them fall while trying to climb. Adam frowned and got his bow and arrow ready to shoot. These can't be real Na'vi, they couldn't climb a simple tree. They also made so much noise similar to a newborn. However the bigger one only made the noises, occasionally the scrawny one would as well.

Adam got ready to shoot at them, it would be doing everyone a favor, when a small version of Ewya landed on the tip of his arrow. That confused Adam. Adam lowered his weapon and watched as Ewya flew over to the group. Adam noticed that Ewya flew two members only. Adam stared at them. Adam didn't understand why Ewya wanted him to spare them but it must be because they hold some importance.

Adam watched as the group continued to fail climbing the tree. Adam debated on going down to help them but decided against it. He had better things to do. Like make his parents proud. Following a group of skxawngs around wouldn't make them proud. So Adam left them on their own.
