Stupid Sexy Pokemon
Woke up wanting to redesign Jynx and while originally I was gonna do a Smoochum redesign to go with the Jynx one, I decided that there's a lot of humanoid Pokemon I don't draw super frequently and just decided to make them, more anthrofied. If you will.
Don't say "daaaaamn" when you see this post

Status Post #11688 (reblog): This.
you cannot talk about the homophobic murder of jonathan joss without including in the conversation that he is indigenous.
american indian men are at the 2nd highest risk of death by murder compared to all other ethnic groups. in their lifetimes, 82% of native men report having experienced domestic violence. yet the overwhelming majority of perpetrators are non-natives (88% of native men and 92% of native women who reported violence said their attacker was non-native). what’s more, tribal governments are often stymied in their attempts to bring justice against non-natives, meaning that many of these cases go unresolved.
this was an intersectional attack. the fact that he is indigenous matters, even if the motivation was homophobic, because it made him even more vulnerable and disposable in the eyes of his killer.
as always, look into MMIWP to learn more, and speak up for us. miigwetch, take care

Status Post #11683 (reblog): I want to see this film when it comes to the UK one day.
You mean to tell me that in a few months I'll be blessed with a post-war family melodrama about kabuki starring Yokohama Ryusei AND Yoshizawa Ryo AND Watanabe Ken???
Kokuho's (2025) plot is like something straight out of my id:
The film centres on Kikuo, the son of a yakuza boss, who is taken under the wing of a renowned kabuki actor following the death of his father. The young man dedicates his life to the art of kabuki – a classical form of Japanese theatre known for its costumes and elaborate makeup – alongside Shunsuke, the only son of the veteran actor. Set against post-war Japan’s economic boom, the story spans 50 years as the two men experience glory, downfall, scandal and triumph. (Source)
I've seen a lot of folks online comparing it to Farewell My Concubine because of the general concept, and while Kokuho based on the trailer seems to be examining different themes, I'm curious to see how it tackles gender identity and the porous boundaries between art and "real life." And if it has even half the beauty and exquisite pain that was Farewell My Concubine, I will be happy.
This might be the 2025 movie I'm most excited for, and I'm so happy it's showing at Cannes so is likely to be picked up for American distribution.
