An Unexpected Hospital Visit

Person A: *walks worriedly into hospital room* What happened???!? How’d you break your legs!??! Person B: Haha, I guess I was too weak in the knees for you.

Vrai raced from the parking lot into the hospital. She was minding their own business looking for new knives to add to her collection when she had gotten a call from the local hospital. Apparently, her idiot of a girlfriend had gotten hurt and was awaiting surgery. As she slammed open the doors of the lobby the receptionist jumped, startled by the sudden loud sound. Vrai made her way up to the desk and gasped out, “I’m looking for Nyx Harris.”

The woman typed up something on her computer before asking, “What’s your relationship with the patient?”

“I’m her girlfriend.” The receptionist nodded and pointed to the elevators behind her, “Fourth floor, room 403.”

Vrai yelled out a “Thank you!” before launching herself towards the elevators. She repeatedly pushed the up arrow as if that would somehow make the elevator go faster. Finally after what seemed like ten minutes of waiting the doors opened and she stepped in, immediately pressing the button for floor four. She was alone in the elevator and bounced up and down anxiously, “Please be okay, god please be okay.” she repeated to herself. After another eternity of a wait the doors opened, Vrai was instantly out and searching the halls for room 403.

When she finally found it, the door was open as a doctor had just exited. As soon as she passed through the doorway and saw her girlfriend lying in the hospital bed, Vrai exclaimed: “What happened?!” She glanced down to see a temporary cast on both of her legs. “How did you break both of your legs?!”

Nyx laughed nervously, “I guess I was too weak in the knees for you?”

Vrai marched over to the bed and hugged her, “Don’t ever do that again. I was so worried.”

“Awe! You were worried about me!” Nyx teased. “Shut up! I’m serious!”

Nyx sighed, “I know.. And I’m sorry.”

Vrai finally released her, “So what did you really do?”

Nyx rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly, “Well, I may have bet Carter 20 bucks I could backflip off a table?” “Damnit Nyx.”
