I know Cassian and MC are going to end up together and maybe even engaged at the end of the book but I kind of wish for a choice to walk away?

Their relationship is based on pure sexual attraction. They are two completely different people who want two completely different things in life. Cassian is a hopeless romantic who wants to settle down and get married while MC has big commitment issues and prefers to keep people at arms lenght. I know that sort of relationship can work in real life, and this is a game so it is going to work, but if that were me I would be done with the other person as soon as they proposed without talking first.

I assumed Cassian and MC hadn’t talked about marriage but it was actually confirmed in today’s chapter that they did in fact not talk about marriage. Cassian’s excuse was that they know MC and what she wants, and that they wanted to surprise her and be romantic about it. Yes, you’ve been together for 2 years but that doesn’t meant you can assume she wants to get married because you “know” her. You have to talk about this topic beforehand.

Cassian does deserve better, though. I just hate their relationship.

Also uhh...I don’t know if it’s been brought up before, but while I’m on the subject of Mary Sues, let’s talk about Cassian Keane and Witness MC.

Witness MC is...how the hell do you classify her? She’s bratty, spoiled, ungrateful, and has no redeeming qualities if you play the diamondless route. Overall, she’s just a really shitty, insufferable human being. But at the same time, she also faces zero or minimal repercussions for her actions in a true Mary Sue fashion. So...what the hell is she? An inverse Mary Sue?

Cassian on the other hand I could definitely qualify as a Mary Sue. They’ve always been too perfect. Strong, handy, dedicated, strong-willed, attentive, attractive, has good survival instincts, has a good job, has had extensive combat training, hell, they even know how to play multiple instruments. The only flaw I can think of was that they had one single moment of weakness when Finn told them he killed Donovan. That was it. One single screw-up in the entire book, and all that happened was that MC got slightly injured because of it. Like MC, Cassian also faces basically no repercussions and just continues their horny existence with MC in a god awful relationship with minimal communication. I like Cassian, but they just don’t feel human to me. They’re just too perfect.

(I haven’t played past chapter 23, so I guess some stuff could’ve changed, but I don’t know.)
