Anon. This is an incredible idea. (Although when I first read it I thought you'd said "let the trans girls kiss," which is also something I'm very in support of and can also absolutely be true here. In fact, it should be and it is. They're both trans. Tama Daimyojin and Hermes, god of travelers, appeared to me in a vision and told me so.)

18. a kiss while laughing

The Den-Liner pulls up at the station, and Ryuutaros, looking out the window, says, "Hey, what's that train, it looks pretty cool," and Naomi's head jerks up from her romance novel as she says, "There's another train here?"

"Yeah, it's all bright colors, it's way more interesting than ours."

"Owner! I'm going on my break!"

Owner looks up from his own newspaper in surprise. "You're--ah, is that the Rainbow Line I see?"

Five minutes later, Owner and the Conductor of the Rainbow Line and his weird little puppet are having some kind of incomprehensible conversation, like they always do when they run into each other, and Naomi hurries across the dusty platform and bursts into the dining car of the Rainbow Line with a shout of, "Wagon!"

Wagon's in the middle of taking a selfie, obviously, but upon Naomi's entrance she hops up from her seat with a little coo, and a moment after that Naomi's feet are several inches off the ground as Wagon picks her up and hugs her. "Aiyahhh, Naomi-chan! It's been ages! Have you read any good books lately?"

"Tons, you?"

"Oh, yes, so many, would you like to trade?"

"Absolutely, please. Come over and have a coffee, I want to show you something."

Urataros stands up from his seat when they get back onto the Den-Liner, and Naomi makes a jerky little hands-off gesture and hisses at him, which startles him so badly that he nearly falls over trying to sit down again. Wagon doesn't even notice, just looks around the interior of the car. "It always looks so nice in here."

"You think so? Honestly I think it's sort of boring, but then, I guess I'm used to it. Check it out, though, I finally got Owner to buy me a new espresso machine and a milk steamer, you want a latte?"

"Oh, but that's so exciting, you know I never have good coffee around since almost all of our passengers are children. I'd love a latte."

Naomi immediately starts fussing with the machine, making Wagon a double shot of the nicest espresso and steaming and frothing the milk. "Ok, so, come over here and watch this."

Wagon leans up on the counter, watching as Naomi pours and pauses and pours and pauses and fusses with a coffee stirrer and--

"There you go! Latte art!"

There's a beat, and then two pink spots glow in the heart of Wagon's face. "It's me!"

"Yeah!" Naomi grins at her. "I even gave it your little bow tie. Here, try it!"

"Oh, but I don't want to ruin the little--it smells so good, though." After a pause, Wagon delicately picks up the cup and takes a sip. "It's delicious!"

Then, of course, she wants to learn how to do it, so she comes around behind the counter and Naomi demonstrates. Wagon's first attempt at frothing goes very badly, she lifts the wand out too early and the milk sort of explodes. The second time works out fine, and then there's the careful pouring, and then Wagon picks up a stirring stick and her hand blurs.

When it stills, Naomi looks down into the cup and says, "Oh my god it's me, you got my little hair flip and everything! How did you get my nose that perfect?"

Wagon shrugs. "I had to get it right, your nose is so cute. Oh, but you have a little bit of--" and she leans forward and kisses a dot of milk froth off the tip of Naomi's nose as Naomi giggles and tries incoherently to protest.

They spend the next forty-five minutes making increasingly ridiculous lattes for everyone (including a very small one for Ticket which Naomi refuses to watch him drink), and they swap stacks of romance novels and kiss a few more times, and then Conductor starts making noises about schedules and Naomi rolls her eyes. "I really can't imagine working somewhere with such a strict timetable."

"Well, your train does make its own tracks, Naomi-chan, we have to share with lots of other trains and some of them are so inconsiderate if you're even a little bit late."

"Right, I guess that's true." Naomi makes a face and then rises up on her toes to kiss the side of Wagon's heart-shaped faceplate one more time. "I'd say call me, but half the time we're in places that don't even have signal."

"I'll text you, then you can get them all at once when you do have signal. Here," and Wagon's arm wraps around Naomi's waist, "let's take one selfie, for the line."

--and then, of course, they lose five more minutes playing with filters and stickers and picture effects, until Conductor has to cough very loudly to get Wagon's attention so that they can get to the next station on time.

Naomi's phone pings right after the Rainbow Line pulls out of the station, and she opens it, saves the selfie, and makes it her phone background.

"So. Ah."

She whirls on Urataros with a dangerous squint. "Yes, Ura?"

Urataros rears back very slightly. "Could I possibly borrow one of your new novels to read?"

"Oh! Yeah, sure, absolutely, Wagon always picks up really fun ones, you want yuri or a BL or something straight?"

okay, standard halfway through the season post, this time for one my buddy rob's favorites: ToQger!!

- the cast is really fun!! obviously my favourite is pink girlie kagura but i like all of them!! very strong core cast

- akira is a sick 6th ranger, though his morpher sucks ngl. worst iteration of the cellphone morpher ever. its boooooooriiiiiing

- meanwhile the main toq morphers are the best design in the show, i love them so much. i LOVE the bit where they go "please stand behind the white line" and it actually appears and sometimes even interacts with the environment it rocks so hard

- wagon and the conductor are really fun secondary cast members i love them too!!!

- i don't trust that damn monkey one bit.

- the villains are definitely where the meat of the story has been for the last 23 episodes. i really like this villain squad, its nice and varied and has lead to really unexpected twists

- speaking of, emperor zed (no way that's not a PR reference right???) is a fun bad guy so far, im looking forward to seeing more of him

- i understand the many reasons why this wasn't adapted to PR but actually vibes wise this seems like the most PR season ive watched of sentai?? maybe im talking out of my ass but i can imagine this being adapted in a way i cant imagine say kingogher or even boonboomger

- ive read the toys didnt sell well and... to be honest i kinda get it. ive come to really like the designs of the suits and the megazords and all that but if you're a 6 year old you just see rectangles (again, toq morpher notwithstanding)

- what the fuck is a ToQ???

overall it hasn't yet grabbed me like any other seasons of toku ive watched so far but its not at all due to the quality, its very good! i simply like my tone to be darker. maybe ill get my wish on the second half

Goranger: To my very vague memory Oiwa is the most frequent witness to Shinmei's desperate need to fuck his plane, which is admittedly fun

Sun Vulcan: In theory this should be a fun straight-laced guy and silly guy duo. however this would require the sun vulcan rangers to be characters

Dynaman: they're a good silly duo! really Nangou with either blue/black is a good silly duo. he bounces off people well like that

Bioman: Nanbara's just a funny little guy. I don't think Mika thinks that much of him but Jun flips quick from I MUST SURPASS ALL OF YOU to oh nvm he's just a funny little guy

Flashman: I feel like Sara and Bun find it easy to connect on a light-hearted bouncy kinda level, while as much as Sara and Lou love to spend time together Lou also has a big more of that serious-fighter energy Dai does.

Liveman: Definitely a core team that go through a lot together, but honestly feels hard to imagine any two of them without the third...

Jetman: I actually really like these two because everyone else is so wrapped up in their big stupid love hexagon and (aside from one episode) Akko and Raita are just like. jesus christ. what's going on over there. farmer and high school athlete bond over being the only sane ones here. how much of this is purely my headcanon? who can say

Kakuranger: they have one braincell between them and sasuke is renting it most of the time and that's pretty fun. they do make each other a bit redundant, but it's still pretty fun

GoGoV: There's a contrast here--Daimon is the loudest sibling while Nagare might be the quietest, but Nagare is also intense in a kind of authoritative way Daimon completely lacks. But that's the foundation of a really close relationship! We see early on how much Nagare identifies Daimon as someone who needs looking after and cushions him from Matoi's, well, Matoi moments. I love Nagare btw his struggles with his family are all so real and he's friend-shaped

Abaranger: It's funny when she annoys him : )

Dekaranger: One must imagine Jasmine bothering the hell out of buttoned-up Hoji when they first started working together, but by the time we get to episode 1 he's already used to her quirks and can devote all his attention to Ban bothering the hell out of him instead.

Boukenger: I want to say "not much of an explored dynamic but he's clearly affectionate for his funny little buddy and doesn't question her place on the team", but it's been long enough it may turn out I'm just wrong and there's a whole episode about Souta questioning Natsuki's place on the team because she's so spacey.

Gekiranger: A really believable solid foundation for all the new elements that hit the dojo throughout the show to pile up on and bounce off of!

Shinkenger: With the usual retainer duos when the team split up being Mako/Kotoha (gal pals), Ryunosuke/Mako (more experienced) and Kotoha/Chiaki (less experienced), it's nice there's a clear throughline of respect between Kotoha and Ryunosuke too. He sees her as the closest to his point of view (unquestioned loyalty to Tono-sama) and respects her earnest dedication, and she isn't bothered by his clownery and just appreciates that he gets results.

Gokaiger: The two most overtly physically dangerous of the team (Ahim is actually the most dangerous, but you won't realise it until it's too late), so it's fun to see them paired up to wreck shop. Luka can bother Joe for fun, but they can easily work in sync as rogues and swordfighters.

ToQger: Okay, okay, Ms. Kobayashi, I admit it: this heterosexual romance you wrote is really cute. It's fun, it's funny, I like it, it's cute. Okay. Okay? Okay. It's nice. Can I go back to looking at Wagon now

Zenkaiger: there is something to vroon as the most boxy and classical Robot on the team which is the thing gaon dislikes about himself...and the inevitable clownshow when vroon is inevitably curious to try gaon's latest dish but noooo he made it for the cute widdle humans onlyyyyy

Donbrothers: I LOVE Haruka and Saruhara ultimate real coworkers. Sometimes they're perfectly in sync partners in crime or only sane people in the room. Sometimes they completely horrify each other. And it all feels extremely natural!

King-Ohger: Any two of this team in the same room is inherently funny because they're big exaggerated personalities, but this isn't a duo I'm particularly wild about. I'm glad we got through the show without going further than occasional jokes about him having a crush on her. please. he has a beautiful loving wife at home (shiokara) and I cherish my himeritas. but they are funny and I want them to keep threatening war with each other over lunch

Gozyuger: well well if it isn't the blowjob brothers

I forgot: Maskman, Dairanger, Carranger, Megaranger, Gingaman, Gaoranger, Kyuranger. If you're noticing certain shows coming up a lot here, it's probably 'cause I remember the hero/villain dynamics more clearly, not the show being entirely unmemorable
