Day Four of #WaitForMeRPG, in which I leave a note for myself in one of my favorite places. In this case, a particular river in which I experience a wonderful sense of grounding and calm (even when it is packed with people). Delighted with myself that I achieved the exact word count on the first try. 😊 I also didn’t intend to do a full sketch with colors and everything, but it felt good, so I went for it. When I started I thought there was no way in hell that I’d be able to pull off the sense of depth in the water, seeing the stones under the surface and poking through — however, I surprised myself and I’m pleased with the result. When ever I do return to art (rarely), I’m finding that I enjoy blending pencil shading with pens. Day Three of #WaitForMeRPG, in which I leave a note for my grandma. Not sure what she would have made of this or if she would have asked me about it directly. Mixed in the newspaper clippings because they tie my grandma and I together. I am a creature of words, reading and writing and storytelling, and grandma read the paper everyday. She and I would also sit and do the crossword together whenever I came to visit. My grandma told my mom once that she didn’t understand the things I wrote. The poetry didn’t resonate with her. Day two of #WaitForMeRPG, in which we look at adolescent love. We’re meant to write the initials of our first love in the heart. I’m embracing the idea of leaving in the mistakes, the scratched out words, as much a part of the message as the written one. The strict word limits (today’s was exactly 40) makes for an interesting challenge. Day One of #WaitForMeRPG, in which we are asked to leave a ten word note to our child self warning about the hardships to come. It’s an interesting introspective moment, exploring this, thinking what to say out of all the hardships (and there were many). This is what immediately came to mind. My teen years in particular were rife with unhealthy friendships. I also drew a little brown paper lunch bag, because eating lunch alone was an immense terror to face as a kid. Would this note have helped me? I don’t know. Maybe I would have been too young to fully make use of these simple words. Anyway, I know I’m only on day one, but I’m already captivated by the gameplay, involving creating a unique journal and including ephemera.
