I was on my on my way to the store to pick up some food after I took 3 hot hot hot showers. I turned down The Cure on my portable Reel To Reel that was left to me by my grandfather. I love my portable Reel To Reel, everyone & their mum needs a portable Reel To Reel. I look down & notice these colorful donuts in the yeard. I do the fat person bend over to my knees & pick up the donuts. I take 'em into the house, & start to feast. I didn't have to walk to the store. ... whether we’re talking relationships and heartbreak, faith and God, education and profession, or more simple things such as where to vacation or what phone to buy: we can learn from each other collectively. However: one person’s story is just that. THEIR story. I’ve learned not to attach myself to someone else’s story and allow it to freak me out or impact my decisions, mind state and my own personal experience. ▫️ I’m reminded of this recently due to the countless pregnancy and labour stories I hear. They can be gruesome & deter many people who have never had children from wanting to! This makes me sad, bc I know for every horror story, there’s another story out there of pregnancy and labour as a beautiful, fulfilling and positive experience (with little to no medical complications or interventions, for example!). ▫️ We choose which narratives of others’ to hold on to, which stories to remember and retell. What stories have you heard and held on to that you need to let go of? What stories of your own do you need to share more often to tip the scale of widely held assumptions? ▫️ Let’s tip the scales and contribute to a full-picture diversified narrative on ALL hot topics, y’all.
