Walls Have Ears || Tybalt and Frank
“What do you mean, Habitation 14 was left open?”
The Unspeakable was living up to his name, his mouth opening and closing and no real sound coming out. His face was flushed, and Tybalt was fairly sure there were tears in his eyes.
“Right. Find who is responsible, and then you can help each other pack your desks up.” The man gave a strangled yelp, but at a look from Tybalt, scurried out.
He moved around his desk, picking up a few tools he’d need to find WT290. It was a chameleon, and could be anywhere, but it fed on any living things, so he really needed to find it fast. First of all, he ran his probes over his own office, before thrusting one at Mitka to do a more thorough check of his room.
The members of his team he could rely on were assembled outside, and he gave them a quick briefing on searching the Department, though his probe was whizzing, the arrow on the globe dancing around at the bottom as it hovered in the air.
He chuckled. Though that meant it could be on any of the other floors, he had a fairly good idea where it had gone. He’d complained to it often enough.
Sure enough, the moment he got to Level Two, the ball shot towards the lift doors, the arrow on the far side, and he sighed. “What a shame.” As he got closer to the Auror Office, it got a little less insistent, and he pocketed it, before striding in. “I need your immediate attention, there is a dangerous creature in the office, and I will need you all to drop what you are doing and help look for it.” Ugh. Aurors. He held the file in the air. “Any of you who actually wants to know what you are looking for rather than blindly wandering around, come here and read this.” He eyed them. As Head of the Department of Mysteries, he held a certain amount of power over those, that didn’t just come with outranking them. There were things he had seen that the men and women in this room would never even be able to dream of.

oK, I need to make a phone call, but instead I ran away to here. I'm now going to do something about it and if I never come back that means I died of shame and embarrassment.

So the walls are being prettified in a rather nice way by the very pleasant chaps at Bread Collective - I met them last night as they daubed the walls with logos. Though not the logos of some bloated, sugar-fuelled corporate beast I could mention; these are the logos of the products once produced in the Hackney Wick area. Nice idea. They will of course be spattered over with someone's muddy-minded daftness any second, but look! It's all neat and tidy now.
This came out of a community-minded project called 'The 'Wall Have Ears', which I'd seen posters of but never really bothered to get involved with. Tut. But I'm glad they decided not to go with the suggestions of the community, or we'd have 'Interesting' and 'Peaceful' written all over the place, which would be beyond tragic. The input of the community is always a sticky point of community projects.
