DANGAN-WALKERS

I made a Danganronpa Wolfwalkers au! It's not super fleshed out yet, but here's a list of which characters are wolfwalkers in each class and a lil bit about them!

THH Mondo- OG wolfwalker alongside his brother, Daiya died protecting him from an overzealous hunter instead and he's been very protective of those he cares about since then. The Crazy Diamonds + Taka are his pack

Taka- bitten in an incident he doesn't like talking about, hid it from everyone out of shame. Mondo helps him loosen up and teaches him to be proud of his identity, eventually leading to him joining Mondos pack and becoming more confident in himself.

Yasuhiro- OG wolfwalker alongside his mom. Very casual about it, which also helps Taka feel more comfortable with himself. Doesn't really care about making a pack and mostly uses his wolf form to try to catch the scent of valuables.

Byakuya- unknown. refuses to talk about his personal life aside from his family line, doesn't take naps, and alters his scent with expensive cologne. Wolfwalkers in general appear to cause him great discomfort, as he subtly changes the subject when they're mentioned and Kiyoko once caught him with a disturbed expression at the sight of Hiros wolf form. It's unclear if its a trauma response, if he is one himself, or if he's simply bigoted towards them.

SDR2 Nagito- bitten during the harmful portion of his luck cycle shortly before his first day at Hopes Peak. Uncomfortably casual about it and the Warriors of Hope treated his wolf form like a pet dog. He sees the rest of his class as his pack, but a majority of them don't feel the same way.

Hajime- turned during the Izuru experimentation to include the possibility of wolf based talents. He's accepted it and uses it to assist his other wolfwalker classmates better. Sees Fuyuhiko as part of his pack and is one of the few who accepts Nagito as a pack member as well.

Kazuichi- bitten as a child, which only added to his old man's abuse and left him ashamed of his identity. Kept it secret until he met his other wolfwalker classmates and grew more comfortable with himself. His obsession with Sonia dies down significantly once he's more comfortable with himself & grows closer to Gundham and the other wolfwalkers. Insecure and believes he doesn't deserve a pack.

Gundham- OG wolfwalker alongside his mom, dad was not a wolfwalker and left them early on as he didn't accept them as they were. Felt isolated for a very long time until he got into Hope's Peak and met others of his kind, which helped him come out of his shell and loosen up a little. None of his animals are afraid of his wolf form and can sometimes be seen riding on his back. He eventually sees Sonia and Kazuichi as members of his pack.

V3 Gonta- bitten after getting lost in the woods. Very open about it and spends a lot of time in wolf form. Still large and a little intimidating in wolf form, but tends to act more like a giant puppy. Sees the whole class as his pack.

Kokichi- OG wolfwalker, D.I.C.E is his pack. Keeps his identity a a secret and only goes into his wolf form at night to maintain his persona. The only ones who know are the other wolfwalkers, as his scent gives him away.  He tries not to get close with anyone, but the wolfwalkers in his class are particularly determined to get him to open up.

Kaito- bitten during a camping trip with his grandparents, fully embraces his identity as a new way to help others and is loud & proud about it. Sees sidekicks as pack members and is more eager to recruit those who are struggling.

Rantaro- bitten during his adventures and doesn't mind it at all. Goes out on expeditions in wolf form a lot in an attempt to catch his sister's scents and find them faster. Very familial and accepts the other wokfwalkers as his pack, very good at making pack members feel safe and comforted.

ok if i were to do a notorious fanfic bracket  so the list of fics would be taken from my previous two notorious fic polls + the top two write ins.    Then I would have to figure out seeding  i saw the graphic of how to do seeding but that involves ranking them  so list under the cut and seeding ideas

BUT 20 teams is hard to seed brackets for. So i either need to add a lot more (to make it 32) OR cut out 4 of them.  low performers on the percentage polls were pavarotti protocol, hogwarts school of prayers and miracles, alone on the water, 30 Hs and room 317.   Or i could eliminate one of the Phan fics.  

i know my immortal is going to gain traction through fame and i do want some hard ones... and for personal evil reasons I want dirty laundry to stay in as long as possible bc reminding people of those days is amusing to me  also i want to avoid people yelling at me for forgetting their favorite nasty fic.

but for real, how did you come up with warrior names for the dangan characters?

typically i try to take their appearance into count for the prefix and their skills or personality for their suffix! a lot of times this depends though

ill use komaru as an example— komarus name is ivorysight, ivory for her appearance and sight a skill she possessed that helped her pass her warrior assessment. hers isnt really anything special and it was more of a ‘i like how this name sounds,’ which is typically a rule i go by more than attaching actual meaning to a name. if i can make a name i like thats based off their personality then it sticks but if i cant then i usually just resort to a name that is loosely or closely attached to their appearance and go from there. sorry if thats not exactly what you were looking or hoping for but at the end of the day i just like to attach (subjectively) cool names to characters

i can put a few examples of more thought processes below on some characteds but youll see pretty fast they arent all too deep !! :’)

byakuya is silkbark — silk as a prefix to reference his wealth in the actual games and bark as a suffix in reference to his often rough personality and ideals

aoi is hollybounce — holly for her appearance, being reddish brown - and bounce is for her athletic nature. this is a case of me having an option to be more specific with the swimming talent but i just thought bounce sounded better than anything else i thought up of

chiaki is sheephaze — both prefix and suffix are meant to point to the distant, perpetually tired shtick she has

nagito is clovercrash — clover being the obvious choice of representing his good luck, and the crash is meant to represent the bad luck. so its kind of supposed to be the good n bad n stuff

kirumi is darkweb — literally just dark weblike patterns on her cat design

tried to get varied examples but that covers a lot of the ground when it came to coming up with names. some i tried to be surface-level deep with and others i didnt even approach the beach because i straight up had no idea where to start— hope you got something out of that whole ramble, good luck with your au < 3

i don’t think i’ve mentioned this before but a while ago i gave tasu and nagito a daughter! the story behind her existence is kinda funny ngl—

so i was casually making warrior cat designs of tasu and nagito one day and discussing w a friend about dangan warrior cats stuff when i came up w the idea of a plot where a patrol finds a kitten injured outside the camp and brings her in to see nagito (he’s the med cat! :D).

med cats having mates and kits is already frowned upon, so when tasu suggests he and nagito take the kitten in as their own there’s a small debate between them since theyre already keeping their being mates a secret.

long story short they keep her and name her mousekit (because she is timid and quiet, her warrior name is mousepurr! i can’t recall if i ever mentioned it in the messages with my friend but if so i cant remember the original).

i ended up putting her in the regular universe as well after a while! her name’s nozomi, and as a sort of reference to her calico fur in the warriors au, she has vitiligo <3 i don’t write about her much but i would love to find the time and muse to flesh out her character and personality a little!
