“Do you always begin conversations this way?”
“By naggin’ at people cus they missed their scheduled physicals? You’d be surprised, captain, by how often that is the case, yes—or maybe you wouldn’t.”
Now, he’s got more sense than to really start in on Lorca—last thing he needs on this damn ship is to be on the man’s shitlist. But it’s common courtesy to at least comm. with an excuse when you intend on missing an appointment. He’d set aside the time specifically for Lorca’s physical and psyche eval, and he didn’t appreciate having it wasted.
“Now, I gotta pull the CMO card and drag your ass down to medical myself, or are you gonna come willingly? Sir.” / @warsighted

Katrina rolled over in bed, staring at Lorca’s scarred back with a slight grin. She didn’t reach out to touch him- the slight paralytic from last night would definitely have worn off and she didn’t fancy a knife anywhere delicate this early in the morning. She slipped out of bed and into a warm bathrobe, picking at the exotic fruits at the table in her quarters before deciding to wake her guest.
“Morning, Gabriel,” she greeted the other with a grin. It wouldn’t be out of character for her to have a near death experience right about now, but that was half the fun. Gabriel certainly made for an interesting bedmate.

Saru had the bridge; he wasn’t sure where Captain Lorca was, but he would guess down in Engineering. If he was on shift and wasn’t on the bridge, the captain tended to be preoccupied with the spore drive. It was understandable--Saru would have rather not had anything to do with technology that had somehow ended up involving human experimentation, but since it was too late for that now, at least the captain was paying attention.
Otherwise, the bridge was quiet, Saru’s monitor spitting back the expected numbers, until Lieutenant Bryce called across the bridge, “We’re getting a distress signal.”
“Where is it coming from?” Saru asked, turning towards him.
“A planet--non-Federation, Class M,” the lieutenant was tapping at the panel. “I’ll try to raise them and get a more precise lock.”
Saru nodded and hit his own com. Captain Lorca would want to know immediately, spore drive or not. “Captain,” Saru said, “We’re receiving a distress signal from a nearby planet.” With Georgiou, he might have requested her presence on the bridge; with Lorca, he wouldn’t presume.

I KNOW NOTHING APPARENTLY
Well then you are missing out on a lovely story about bare butts, summer fun and a curiosity about whether or not a young man could blow himself.

Kat wrapped an arm, very carefully, around Gabriel’s waist. “I’m not that kind of doctor which is exactly why I listen to these kind of doctors.” Except on the occasion when it was her in the biobed. But that wasn’t what was up for debate for now. “You obviously aren’t well enough to be walking around- which isn’t surprising considering your internal organs are only recently back where they belong.”
Though damn if she didn’t know the terrible horrors of sitting in sickbay with nothing to do. “You listen to the doctors and I’ll bring you something to do. Once you start your PT, I’m sure your tune about walking around will change.” That was certainly her least favorite part of the recovery process- well between that and having nothing to do.
