Considering the official reason Moonpaw is said to have received her name is because her face resembles a half moon specifically, I kind of don't like when designs incorporate other stages of the moon as symbolism.

On the other hand, the official art couldn't even keep this consistent and incorporated a crescent moon design in one of the official arts, so I can't be that mad. A lot of the fan designs are really clever, too.

However, what I cannot forgive is when people make one of her eyes blue. It completely delegitimizes her heterochromia being a sign that she's a chimera. Literally any other color but blue I am fine with, heck make one purple. I don't even care. I get even more mad if the person is someone who complains that Moonpaw isn't technically a chimera.

... Well "mad" is a strong word. I don't actually care that much, I just wanted to complain.

the warrior cats graphic novel adaptation exists as a separate entity from the books to me. it removes the weird romance between spottedleaf and firepaw. it acknowledges sibling relationships that were never canonically addressed before. it lifts a lot of the ableism behind cinderpaw becoming a medicine cat. it's made by a married sapphic couple. they draw cloudkit like this:

really it's an improvement overall and i like it completely on its own. this is what the people deserve after putting up with over 20 years of misogyny and ableism.

This part right here fucks me up about Scourge's character. It's easy to remember it as just a "haha edgy emo" quote but what many fail to realize is that in the panels just before this, he straight up murdered a guy.

This cat is still so young, and he took his first life. Scourge has to be extremely young still here, at most maybe a young teen at this point due to how fast cats age; he has to be around apprentice age.

This moment can be interpreted as a total twist on how apprentices approach battle; they do so with pride and eagerness, what teenager wishes to go to war whenever they can.

The first quote quite is him pointing out that what he did was cold-hearted; but because he's so young he lets this cold-heartedness consume him. But even then, he doesn't buckle to becoming like other clan leaders.

The rogue he killed wasn't just there on "his territory" doing nothing, the rogue and his group were an active threat to the community. A far cry from how the clans treat outsiders in their territory. Scourge had a reason to defend himself on account of being threatened

And the fact that all of this, all of these ruminating thoughts, grudges, emotions, are all described in such a way by a child, is what makes his upbringing so heartbreaking. Dude is just a kid

Was reading the new chapters, It’s so funny to me that no one died between the arcs but we got like 20 new kits.

Also love that sunbeam is moonpaws mentor. I was hoping that the voice in moon’s mind is just adhd, but absorbed sibling is fine too (to all people who have no idea what warrior cats are about - I’m sorry)

Can we also note that in the newest arcs we just know what characters won’t be important at all.. You just don’t see cats with -pelt, -tail, or -fur anymore. Only background noname characters get them.. so Wafflepaw, you were cool character when it lasted. They just called the dude Wafflepelt. What does it even mean?! You have cool suffixes like -shine -beam, but you gave him pelt. Shame on you Erin, shame on you.

Also graywhisker, Stemtail? I feel like Squirrelstar is just bad at naming cats…

pinestar being instructed by starclan to kill tigerkit and then later being made to give him a life at his leader's ceremony... as if starclan was forcing him to live with the monster he 'created'... is anyone else picking up what i'm putting down

being so honest right now heathertail should’ve taken every plotline given to harestar and then built on them & it’s a disservice to the po3-oots arcs that she didn’t. she has a disregard for the parts of the code she disagrees with, and she’s been turned away by a member of the three as a result, first with compassion but then viciously, with him swearing her as his enemy and threatening her straight after nearly murdering her mentor. he comes close to killing her and the book tells us she *knows* it.

seeing the dark forest pick up on this rivalry, on the way she’s been unfairly treated by lionblaze, and taking advantage of it would have been really interesting. it would have given way more set-up to her relationship with breezepelt and given her more agency in it then being the wife who fixes him later on. it would’ve given her an arc of her own. it would have given her a long-lasting and present relationship with lionblaze, making his chapters significantly stronger. seeing this rebellious little apprentice go from a friendly presence to a serious threat created by the flaws of the main character & the clan system would be fun.

and then eventually, after lionblaze has lost his powers and is struggling, we would see heathertail grow behind the scenes and eventually ascend to leadership of windclan. maybe they would reconcile, maybe they would remain a bitter reminder to each other of the past and what could have been, of childhood friendship tarnished with clan patriotism and needless violence. who knows. but id love to read about it.

Ik that the Erins will not handle her well at all but I’m so interested in Moonpaw’s sister as a character actually (Maybe more so than actual Moonpaw tbh…).

The writing of the book and even the warriors website treats her as if she’s Completely Evil (going so far as to literally name a character trait of hers as ‘malevolent’ on the website) but like… This isn’t just an evil spooky spirit cat being evil just Because. This is the ghost of a kid who never got to grow up properly, never was properly parented, who had to live vicariously through watching and interacting with Moonpaw when she was a kitten. She had nobody else who could hear her, no other contact with anyone else. And Thunderclan refused to even acknowledge she EXISTED whatsoever, even hiding it from Moonpaw herself. So when Moonpaw suddenly needs to focus without someone chatting to her all the time, and begins to treat her sister like a nuisance and literally begins ignoring her… it would make sense that said sister, who basically has the mindset of a jealous, hurt, abandoned kid, would be mad about it. This is her ONE CONNECTION WITH ANYONE. So her being all ‘if I can’t be with you in your world, you’ll be with me in mine’ makes sense. Moonpaw is all she has. I’m on your side voicepaw….
