The ceramic mug (it said "World's Best Dad" but it was just a cheap charity shop pickup) hissed hot steam as the thin, wild-haired man poured boiling water over the instant coffee. The inky black liquid bubbled like swamp tar, belying its taste, also similar to swamp tar. Still, it beat paying ten pounds for a thin latte and having to deal with the currency. Why did he only have Scottish banknotes? He must have taken a trip recently. After all, he was Scottish.

He waved away the thought and pulled a battered packet of cigarettes from the inside pocket of his long, tattered jacket, lighting one as he used his elbow to open the door. Like it wasn't...appropriate. He closed the door of the little house he had been granted on campus - it almost made up for his dreadful salary - and beat a quick walk towards the faculty office. Doctor John Smith, professor of Music History at CSM, was late for a lecture. He was always late for lectures, but they were always worth attending. He stood, shifting from foot to foot at the street crossing. The smoke from his cigarette was blowing hard into the face of the person next to him. He was too wrapped up in his own thoughts and the blisteringly awful coffee to notice.

I think there's a difference between playing Tony Stark, a character that's been fully developed, had his own story lines, and i'm not sure but is still alive in comics compared to a MISCARRIED NEVER DEVELOPED plot device. Using an actual deceased person is pretty fucked up to

yeah i think the issue with wearelondon’s plot drop is that they HAVE made their muses the main characters. the event seemed to have been held by an admin muse, the damage was done by an admin muse. there’s nothing wrong with the volunteering system but if your going to do something that causes injury, make it by a npc or natural or something. don’t make one of your muses the focus of attention for everything.

Yeah, this is a common theme with this group unfortunately. I feel like they’re a great blueprint for prospecting admins to see what NOT to do.

i’ve been in wearelondon and the members (and admins tbh) were nice enough but it was just super cliquey for me and like others mentioned, the problematic things and muses they allowed made me want to leave

tbh I get how that might throw some people off. Just because they were nice doesn't excuse the behaviors that are allowed to be present in the rp and actively engaged in. I don't blame you for getting swept up into things because new rp, looks fun, lots of characters. And it's good that you left. They're still super problematic and promoting problematic muses and plots which is a big red flag.

not related to wearelondon but i think admins should always allowed to have a muse in plot drops since they're the ones writing it. as long as they aren't making their muse the main character above anyone else but yeah. i think that's of least concern with wearelondon. they are never going to realize their wrongs anyway

No yeah, admins definitely have the right to have their characters be in plot drops and I just want to state that I haven’t said anything otherwise. The other anon came to me specifically about wearelondon and how the majority of the characters involved in the plot drop were admin characters. I did point out that the post stated that it was on a volunteer-basis along with the usual difficulty admins usually have with people sacrificing their characters but idk. At the end of the day, I’m not in that group nor do I know what goes on there other than the admins’ actions on the main and what other people come to me with. I think we’re all well aware of the wrong-doings of that group, just by viewing the character list and rules, but that anon also has every right to want to complain about the feelings of a clique in the group and if the admins are just prioritizing themselves. I don’t see it as overlooking everything else, but adding to it tbh.

I do want to say that plot drops are pretty rad if done right - but admins should definitely strive to be inclusive and as you put it, not have their characters as the main star every time.
