Thousands of Amazon workers across Europe were striking and protesting on Black Friday in anger at the company's warehouse working conditions.
Strikes were taking place across Amazon sites in Italy, Spain, France, and Germany. The Italian press reported that managers were having to pack boxes to meet demand.
In the UK, the GMB trade union and off-shift Amazon workers were demonstrating outside warehouses.
UK politicians expressed support for the protest, with the deputy leader of the opposition calling on Amazon management to listen to staff concerns.
An Amazon spokesman said: "All of our sites are safe places to work and reports to the contrary are simply wrong."
These amazon workers from around the globe have come together with one message for Jeff Bezos. We are not robots, treat us with dignity and respect. Share their message far and wide #AmazonWeAreNotRobots

In a press release sent to Business Insider, the GMB said it was protesting "inhuman conditions" at the warehouses. It cited figures from a Freedom of Information request showing a single Amazon warehouse in Britain had called ambulances to the site 115 times over a three-year period.

Being able to diagnose mental illness is amazing. It can provide explanation and spread awareness. But at times I feel that it is not so much empowering as it is restricting. I think many times we are too quick to diagnose people and start blaming someone’s issues they have as a chemical imbalance. They are then put into this category with limitations- some internal and some external. In a way, it almost becomes an identity for a person, and it can make them vulnerable to working their life around the mental illness instead of letting it assimilate into their own life.
This often leads me into a downward thought spiral of being a slave to our very physiological brain make up. It makes me start thinking negatively about how we are just pieces of meat controlled by a mix of chemicals and hormones and nothing else. Ultimately, I suppose that is what it comes down to. But how depressing is that?
Maybe the chemicals are not the foundation, though. Maybe they are just an ingredient. Maybe they are an added mixture to something we don’t quite realize yet. Perhaps they are there to activate powers we hold within ourselves that we aren’t aware of without them. There must be a reason as to why some people get dopamine or serotonin boosts when doing one activity, yet others don’t but receive the same boost when doing something else. Some get these chemical rushes while helping people, others while creating art, others while playing sports. And maybe, just maybe, there is some power being unlocked by those who do not receive enough of these chemicals. I do view that as a deficit for sure, but maybe it doesn’t have to be 100%.

A beautiful, commissioned portrait thanks to @reyasmerch on instagram

I’ve always been a huge sailor moon fan, even as an adult. I asked this artist to portray me as a sailor scout (not only because it’s super rad) but also because I feel a connection with Sailor Moon, and I got my inspiration for this piece from the above video clip.
Sometimes we give and give and give as humans. People need us. While helping and serving others can activate within us a special power that we may not have even known, it can also draw from our life force. Just as Sailor Moon gave all she could in this clip-its end result was beautiful but when she is finished her eyes go dark, and her very being is drained.
As someone who works in Social Services, I feel this quite often. A lot of times I find myself wondering if this is the career for me because it leaves me feeling exhausted and frustrated quite a bit, but fortunately for me, I do still have a passion for it. I don’t think I’m writing this to post anything inspiring or as an over the top positive reaffirmation for people to “keep going even when the going gets rough”. I’m just writing to acknowledge this. And I love that I can have this feeling portrayed through art. Also it kind of makes me feel like a badass.
