I've been seeing more and more people here on Tumblr who have recently started watching Rawhide, which is cool because I watched the first episode not too long ago (last October) and now, with about 160 episodes behind me, I thought I'd write down what my personal favourites were. There are definitely a lot of episodes I haven't seen yet, (some of which I have deliberately left out) so I'll probably expand the list later or write a new one with those in it if there'll be any change.
These are my personal favourites, which aren't exactly the most seen or most popular episodes, but I really loved them and thought I'd make a recommendation for those who are just getting into this world or for those who want to review it. You can watch these episodes in any order you like, as each is a separate story with no prequel or sequel, but that's true of almost the entire show. So here it is:
Incident of the Widowed Dove (S1 E4)
Incident of the Town in Terror (S1 E9)
Incident of the Roman Candles (S1 E23)
Incident of the Sharpshooter (S2 E19)
Incident of the Silent Web (S2 E30)
Incident at Dragoon Crossing (S3 E3)
Incident of the Night Visitor (S3 E4)
Incident of the Slavemaster (S3 E5)
Incident on the Road to Yesterday (S3 E6)
Incident of the Captive (S3 E9)
Incident of the Buffalo Soldier (S3 E10)
Rio Salado (S4 E1)
The Inside Man (S4 E6)
The Black Sheep (S4 E7)
The Little Fishes (S4 E9)
The Gentleman's Gentleman (S4 E11)
The Immigrants (S4 E23)
Incident of the Portrait (S5 E3)
Incident of the Prodigal Son (S5 E5)
Incident of Decision (S5 E14)
Incident at Two Graves (S6 E7)
Incident of Midnight Cave (S6 E16)
Incident of the Dowery Dundee (S6 E17)
Incident of the Pied Piper (S6 E19)
Incident of the Wanderer (S6 E21)
Incident at Zebulon (S6 E22)
The Race (S7 E1)
The Lost Herd (S7 E4)
The Backshooter (S7 E9)
The Photographer (S7 E11)
Josh (S7 E15)
Ride a Crooked Mile (S8 E2)
Duel at Daybreak (S8 E10)
Brush War at Buford (S8 E11)
I've gone chronologically, not by which of these I like the most, but I'll write down my top5 picks of the episodes I've probably rewatched the most:
5. The Gentleman's Gentleman (S4 E11)
It's a light-hearted, goofy episode that you can watch anytime, plus you get to see Mr. Favor take a pampering bath in the middle of a cattle drive.
4. Incident of the Sharpshooter (S2 E19)
It was the very first episode I ever saw, so I'll cherish it in my heart forever. But other than that, I felt like I was watching a crime movie, and I love that genre, so that's definitely a plus point for the episode.
3. Ride a Crooked Mile (S8 E2)
Many people don't even give Season 8 a chance, because it no longer features Eric Fleming, which I understand. At first I was a bit wary of this season too, but then I watched this episode and decided to give it a chance. It was a good decision. Basically, I really like that in Season 8 Rowdy is acting completely different, he's more serious and responsible, which makes him a much more sympathetic character for me than in the previous seasons (and he's a totally fair, good trail boss who clearly cares about his men and their opinion, which is absolutely respectable). Plus, I like the dynamic that exists between him and Jed. Their relationship is much more balanced and healthy, you don't feel that either of them is trying to suppress the other. This episode gives a very good insight into their relationship, while their trust in each other is challenged by a manipulative criminal.
2. The Race (S7 E1)
This episode has everything a Favorowdy shipper could ever want. I don't want to spoil anything, but this episode is full of excitement, drama, anger, resentment and that's why it's my second favourite. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it yet, because I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
1. Incident of the Portrait (S5 E3)
This episode is my number one. The focus here isn't on the main characters, but on the development of the two guest characters and their relationship (the best thing about it is that you can see anything you want to see in it). It's very hard to talk about this without describing anything specific, but I loved the tender, innocent dynamic between these two characters, the escalation of tension, the mystery that permeated the whole episode and the ending is heartbreaking, but satisfactory.
Here are a few more loved ones that are not in my top5, but are definitely in the top10 for me, but I'll just write down the titles here:
6. The Lost Herd (S7 E4)
7. Incident of the Town in Terror (S1 E9)
8. The Inside Man (S4 E6)
9. Brush War at Buford (S8 E11)
10. The Backshooter (S7 E9)

Mary Slessor, the Scottish missionary, was born on this day in 1848 in Aberdeen.
It's only the past few years that interest has grown in Slessor, thanks mainly to The Clydesdale Bank honouring her memory on their £10 note
Mary was the second of seven children of Robert and Mary Slessor. Her father, originally from Buchan, was a shoemaker by trade. In 1859, the family moved to Dundee in search of work. Robert Slessor was an alcoholic and, unable to keep up shoemaking, took a job as a labourer in a mill. Her mother was a skilled weaver and went to work in the mills. At the age of eleven, Mary began work as a "half-timer" in the Baxter Brothers' Mill, meaning she spent half of her day at a school provided by the mill owners and the other half working for the company. The Slessors lived in the slums of Dundee. Mary's father and both brothers died of pneumonia, leaving behind only Mary, her mother, and two sisters By age fourteen, Mary had become a skilled jute worker and worked 12 hour shifts to help support her family.
Her mother was a devout Presbyterian who read each issue of the Missionary Record, a monthly magazine published by The United Presbyterian Church (later the United Free Church of Scotland) to inform members of missionary activities and needs. Slessor developed an interest in religion and when a mission was instituted in Quarry Pend (close by the Wishart Church), she wanted to teach. Slessor was 27 when she heard that David Livingstone, the famous missionary and explorer, had died and decided she wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Eventually, Slessor applied to the United Presbyterian Church's Foreign Mission Board. After training in Edinburgh, she set sail in the SS Ethiopia on 5 August 1876, and arrived at her destination in West Africa just over a month later.
She was a tough working class, woman, who was able to penetrate the interior of Nigeria and reach tribes who were so hostile to the white invaders that the men who had attempted the task before her had been murdered.
Although considered unconventional by Europeans, and certainly determined in character, she became a genuine peace-maker in numerous ways. She established schools and became well known in her struggle to reverse the practice of condemning twin babies to death. She fought for the acceptance of the small-pox vaccinations amongst the local people. She certainly served as an able fore-runner to the many church planters that followed her to Nigeria.
She gained such respect that at times she was called upon to act as a judge to help settle disputes between tribes. Mary Slessor wasn’t just there to spread Christianity and didn’t gain great numbers of converts but as a Christians peacemaker and human rights reformer she was an unparalleled success.
Like her fellow Scot, David Livingstone, she was considered unconventional by European standards. Slessor lived amongst the people in a mud hut, certainly unusual for western missionaries at the time.
The British colonial authorities respected her, and called upon her for help, actually funding some of her projects – but they were also exasperated by her: she had somehow freed herself from the European obsession with time keeping and therefore kept very irregular and unpredictable hours.
But she much loved by the local Efik peoples, was fluent in their language and genuinely adapted her life to serve them. She was named ‘The Mother of all Peoples’ by the locals, there are statues, memorials and reminders of Mary all over Nigeria.

4 SEO Areas to Benefit From Free CRM
In the modern age, the market has become a dueling ground for businesses. They try to fight, get a hold on, or defend their turfs with the help of several strategies. These strategies involve numerous marketing campaigns like SEO, PPC packages, SEM, etc. Besides marketing, companies focus on the customer care department. Most companies take pride in this area of business and make their business model customer-centric instead of revenue. And Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a great approach to uphold this value as it helps the company to lower the customer retention rate, and eventually attracting more customers. Free CRM is an excellent tool in itself, but when accompanied by some basic SEO techniques, it could work just right for your online business. The massive amount of data collected in the form of reviews can be utilized in various SEO tactics you use regularly. And here are some areas where this tool can help you in creating a better SEO strategy and yielding productive results.
1. Detailed Keyword Research:
Keyword research is a significant element of SEO. The on-site optimization of any website or webpage demands central or multiple keywords for web crawlers to feed on. With the help of CRM, you can focus on a more customer-centric keyword. This personalized touch helps in performing better in your SERPs. User-centralized webpages are appreciated by every search engine as it helps them in producing more effective results for their users.
2. User-Friendly Content:
There is no denial of the fact that billions of webpages exist today with unsurmountable content. And not surprisingly enough, a significant part of it is not of use to anyone. In the end, it all depends upon the quality and usefulness of your content. Your content should be easily readable and must muster all the information in an organized way. Use charts, media, graphs to express complicated figures and points. You can create content specifically for your customer base with the help of the assembled data from CRM.
3. Social Media Presence:
Social media is today's driving force which is connecting the businesses to its customers or clients in a different and useful way. And you can use it for your advantage by interacting with your customer base on social media. With the help of CRM, you can follow and connect to your customers on social media. This tactic is widely oriented by marketing experts to create a user-friendly image of your brand. Posting links to your new content pieces on your social media accounts is also a good idea to drive more web traffic to your website.
4. Online Reputation Management:
As we mentioned in the above point, social media handles can help you in creating a user-friendly image for your brand. CRM helps you to locate the websites where consumers post their reviews and ratings about businesses and their services. If you see any bad evaluation or complaint about your company, reply to the respective user instantly with an apology. Also, try to get some positive reviews on these websites for your organization from your current customer base to create a positive reputation for your company.
Using CRM software with these SEO areas can help you develop your online business significantly. Trying more tactics will also result in more productive yields.

Dr. Marcella Althaus-Reid

was born in 1952 in Rosario, Argentina, to Alberto and Ada Althaus. She studied liberation theology and earned a Bachelor of Theology degree at the renowned Instituto Superior Evangelico de Estudios Teologicos (ISEDET) seminary in Buenos Aires, studying with scholars such as Jose Miguez Bonino and J. Severino Croatta.
Althaus-Reid trained for ministry in the Methodist Church of Argentina and developed expertise in the method of "conscientization," pioneered by the Brasilian educator Paolo Freire. She implemented this work in social and community projects supported by the church in poor communities of Buenos Aires. She was invited to undertake similar projects in Dundee and Perth (Scotland) years later. Throughout her career, her theological work retained a strong grounding in the "preferential option for the poor."
She continued studies in Liberation Theology, Feminist Theology and Queer Theology and completed a Ph.D. at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 1994. Following an appointment to a lectureship, she became Professor of Contextual Theology at New College, University of Edinburgh. She was the first woman professor of theology in the history of New College.
Her first book, Indecent Theology (2000), received widespread recognition in the theological field and earned her self-described reputation as an "indecent, Latina, bisexual theologian." Her next book, Queer God (2004), was a bold and provocative challenge to the sexual oppression inherent in most Christian theologies and established her as a fresh, cutting-edge thinker. She wrote and edited articles in numerous theological journals and was invited to lecture throughout Europe, Latin America and the U.S. Althaus-Reid and Lisa Isherwood, were the editors for a ground-breaking series of books, "Queering Theology" published by T&T Clark.
Althaus-Reid found a spiritual home in the Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) and became an advocate for MCC as a respite from alienating and exclusive liturgies and the hope for an alternative queer Christian community.
She died in Edinburgh on February 20, 2009, following a long illness, and is survived by her husband Gordon Reid.

SEO
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Strategy
SEO is the process of aligning the website content of a company to the search patterns of the consumers or the searchers and presenting the website to be more accessible to the search engines and also the people. Organic search results will help organisations to increase traffic to their websites (Ryan and Jones, 2016).
Chaka website first registered in WordPress with search engines in Google etc. and provide the search key words. These key words, when a consumer types it in the search engine, the name of the website will be seen in the search results. For instance, in the case of Chaka Agency, if we type in the words, “Digital marketing agency” in Google, we get the name of the website in the top of the search results as shown in the below figure.
It shows that we could using the Google advertise toattract customers or investors searching us. Even readers can click the top one in order to enhance the views of Chaka Website.
As for geographic advantages in using Google map, we could write a lot of comments or suggestions to rise up the ranks in Dundee’s Google map.
As for key word ‘Chaka Agency’ …
the SEO improvements can be summarized into four main aspects.
The first aspect is the partitioning of the current page. As mentioned in the previous section, the current website involves a lot of long screens with more than 5 screens (Patil and Regunathan, 2013). In fact, too many size screens will cause users to be bored and reduce the user experience. Therefore, it is important to properly partition the current website. Instead of a page corresponding to the navigation bar item, each bar item can further introduce more pages. Pages can be linked from the base page, and the height of each page is expected to be short. In this way, the user can conveniently view the content of each navigation item. If the base page does not match the user’s interests, you can switch to another bar item instead of scrolling down to the bottom of the browser. This regression is also very beneficial for improving load performance and reducing user waiting time. Since users don’t need to browse too much content they don’t like, they can help improve the user experience and expect the site to attract more customers.
The second aspect is the highlight of the keyword. As mentioned in the previous section, keywords are very important for page rankings, so it determines which pages can be placed on top, and users are more likely to access them. In addition to the explicit keywords that appear on the page, it is also necessary to insert these keywords into the source files of the page and increase the likelihood that the crawler will crawl.
The third aspect is to work with other sites to improve traffic on the website. When a visitor visits another website, the visitor is likely to jump to the website via the embedded link (Kim and Park, 2018). With this in mind, collaboration with other sites can be an effective way to improve traffic on both sides. At present, the cooperation of the website has become a mature technology, and many websites have formed cooperation and combined to improve the ranking of the pages in the search engine. Therefore, in order to compete with competitors, the website should also develop its partner website and use double links to improve its page rank.
The fourth aspect is active search engine optimization. Instead, it is important to expand awareness and improve its impact through manual methods. For example, there are many forums that involve a lot of access. By paying the fee, the site gets some grants and promotes web links on it. Through manual promotions on these forums, it is expected that more visitors will notice the web links, and they may visit the site to increase the visibility of the site.

External Seminar - Online Symposium
'Multispecies Architectures' Organised by Dominic Smith (Philosophy, University of Dundee)
During this seminar I found myself being exposed to a multitude of media, ideas and artwork that I had not thought of or seen before. It was an eye opening experience to a world I had not experienced before. There was lots of information to digest, which I feel I struggled with as this was my first symposium experience. However, I did enjoy it.
Here we discussed how architecture and the implementation of art can be achieved, and thus how it affects it's surroundings. It can be argued that everything has been created using some form of architecture, no matter the material nor the living intelligence that brought it into existence. Such as a spider creating its web or a fish preparing their home for their egg sac, thought and logic go into each creation. So how does this apply to art? Well, my take away was that where you place, and how you assemble your work has a huge impact on the interaction from the audience. As well as how this is not exclusive to art, but can be found in other aspect of life.
A speaker I found particularly interesting was Matthew Ogden with their 'When Critique Meets Reality: Developmental Hypocrisy in the BioShock Games' speech. I was not expecting to see a game talked about within this seminar so it caught my attention that way. I have played the game before, so to hear it be dissected in this topic was rather peculiar but in a good way. Interpreting the choice of architecture and social construct within the game and how it changed over the years with the growth within real society outwith the game. He explored the relationship of aesthetics and low within the rise of digital technology and the advancements within this sector. He explained how the developers would becomes hypocrites against their own design shown in their games, showcasing how blurring the line between the audience and the architecture can affect future developments. It made me think of how I utilise my own work, and how I represent it and vice versa. The effects of what I do as a person compared to the lifeless work I create, and how it births opinions on me as the creator.
I wish I took more notes, as I feel there was so much said but I have little to show for it. Next time I would need to make sure I note down what I hear so I can take more information forward.

Note: This blog post is cross-posted from Medium.
A new tool by ThingsCon in Berlin will help consumers identify which devices truly respect their privacy and security starting 6 December 2018.
Every day, millions of consumers rely on trustmarks to make informed purchases. These simple icons convey critical information, like whether or not food is organic, automobiles are safe, or bank accounts are insured.
Yet many of the internet-connected devices we buy — from AI speakers and wearables to smart toys for kids — don’t have trustmarks. It can be incredibly difficult to truly assess products’ privacy and security features. As a result, consumers are largely in the dark about whether or not an IoT device will respect their personal data.
So today, ThingsCon is launching the Trustable Technology Mark: A tool for consumers to assess whether an IoT device truly respects their privacy and security. It’s also a tool for companies to show their products are trustworthy.
Says Peter Bihr, ThingsCon co-founder and a Mozilla Fellow leading the Trustable Technology Mark initiative: “IoT devices are only becoming more widespread and more advanced — they live in our kitchens and bedrooms, and they access our calendars and our conversations. As a result, consumers should have answers to important questions like What personal data does this product collect? How is that data stored? Who has access to that data? And Can I easily export that data?”
The Trustable Technology Mark answers these questions. To earn the mark, IoT products are evaluated using five criteria:
Privacy & Data Practices: Is it designed using state of the art data practices, and respectful of user rights?
Transparency: Is it made clear to users what the device does and how data might be used?
Security: Is it designed and built using state of the art security practices and safeguards?
Stability: How robust is the device and how long of a life cycle can a consumer reasonably expect?
Openness: How open are both the device and the manufacturer’s processes? Is open data used or generated?
Trustable Technology Mark evaluations are carried out by neutral experts at ThingsCon, a collective of engineers, designers, and researchers who are devoted to more responsible IoT. ThingsCon is based in Berlin, Germany, and conducts research, hosts conferences, provides fellowships, and more.
Any device maker is welcome to complete a thorough self-assessment and submit it for evaluation. The results of these self-assessments are published in full under an open license as part of the Trustable Technology Mark certification requirements.
The evaluation process is rigorous. But the end result is convenient and straightforward for consumers — when a product passes review, the Trustable Technology Mark icon can be featured on its web page or packaging.
The mark is launching with proof of concept in two categories: voice assistants and connected toys. snips.ai, a smart voice assistant from France, and Vai Kai, a connected toy from Germany, have already qualified for the mark.
Says Dr. Rand Hindi, CEO and cofounder of Snips: “This qualification is a true recognition of the great work conducted by Snips team over the last year. I am extremely proud of it. Our belief is that by running their voice assistant on the Edge and totally offline rather than in the Cloud, companies can guarantee Privacy by Design, without compromising on performance, brand or user experience.”
Says Justyna Zubrycka, co-founder and CDO of Vai Kai: “It is the core value of Vai Kai company to provide safe and high quality connected products for especially sensitive period of human development that is an early childhood. One of the basic principle of our design is that toys don’t collect any personal user’s data. All the digital advantages are there to support child’s development, and to help us constantly improve our products. We see Technology Mark as an extremely important initiative that promotes connected technology created with these values upfront.”
The mark also has the support of several academic and policy partners, including ITS Rio, NYU Technology Law & Policy Clinic, CIS India, BiLGi Information Technology Law Institute, Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab, University of Dundee, Centrum Cyfrowe, and Technical University of Dresden’s Institute of Media and Communication. These partners will promote the Trustable Technology Mark in their curriculum, publications, and events.
Say Jon Rogers, Mozilla Fellow and Professor of Creative Technology at University of Dundee: “At a time when the Internet of Things is becoming a powerful force for almost every aspect of our lives — on our bodies, in our homes and across our cities — we have to ask the question ‘do we trust it?’ I wouldn’t take medicines that didn’t come with a clear trusted label; I wouldn’t buy a car that didn’t come with documents telling me who had owned it and if it was safe. Yet, the things we’re buying that connect us, our family and our friends directly to the internet 24 hours a day, 365 days a week currently have almost no way to visibly and say ‘you can trust this.’ This is why the Trustable Technology Mark is so important.”
The release of the Trustable Technology Mark comes on the heels of deep research and network building by ThingsCon. In 2017, ThingsCon published “A Trustmark for IoT,” a thorough examination of the potentials and challenges of an IoT trustmark. ThingsCon has also developed a guiding Theory of Trust. Progress has been thoroughly documented through blogs, and the initiative’s development has garnered coverage in the Wall Street Journal, Offscreen Mag, the Internet Health Report, and other publications.
Companies may submit their products for evaluation beginning December 6. To do so, visit https://trustabletech.org/apply/. ThingsCon will begin administering Trustable Technology Marks in early 2019.

Subverting Galadriel - the Norn Queen in “Memory, Sorrow and Thorn”

I’ve been reading Tad Williams’ epic fantasy series Memory, Sorrow and Thorn recently. It is this series of books that directly inspired George R.R. Martin to write A Song of Ice and Fire and I’ve been listing the similarities between the two elsewhere (x).
One thing that struck me whilst reading Williams’ series was how he engages with the legacy of Tolkien. This becomes especially clear in the way Williams portrays the Sithi and the Norns, two clans of an immortal race that bears many similarities to the Elves of Tolkien as well as the fairy folk of myth - especially the Daoine Sidhe (or Aos Sí) of Irish folklore. The naming of William’s “elvish” race as the Sithi may very well be a nod to this particular piece of folklore.

(The Riders of the Sidhe (1911). Art by John Duncan, McManus Galleries, Dundee)
The Sithi and the Norns, who call themselves the Zid’aya (the Dawn Children) and the Hikeda’ya (the Cloud Children) respectively, are extremely long-lived and their looks are foreign enough to be considered both beautiful and terrifying by the mortals in the story. While they belong to the same race, their looks are very different. The Sithi are described as golden-eyed and golden-skinned, with hair that varies from white to black and red. Several dye their white hair blue or lavender as well.

(Jiriki and Aditu of the Zida’ya. Art by Michael Whelan)
The Norns, on the other hand, are white-skinned as well as white-haired and their eyes are described as black or a very dark violet bordering on black. They are generally considered much more terrifying in appearance than beautiful, unlike the Sithi, though that could be because they are hostile to humankind.
There’s a third “elvish” race called the Tinukeda’ya (the Ocean’s Children) who are referred to as Dwarrows and Niskies because the former live underground and the latter by the sea. They are not considered beautiful but rather bordering on the grotesque in appearance. They were once the servants of the two other clans but broke away.
Tolkien and Williams - Similarities in Lore
When it comes to the history of the Sithi, Norns and Tinukeda’ya, it becomes clear that Williams draws a lot of inspiration from Tolkien, specifically the Silmarillion and the history of the Elves.
The story of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn takes place on a continent called Osten Ard.
The three “elvish” tribes of Osten Ard didn’t originiate in this land. They came across the sea from Venyha Do’sae, a place they call the Lost Garden and they refer to their race as the Gardenborn. They fled their home because it was threatened by Unbeing though it is unclear what exactly this threat really was. This idea of the Lost Garden brings to mind the realm of Valinor where the elves of Tolkien resided before their exile to Middle-Earth.
The Gardenborn were the first thinking creatures to live in Osten Ard and they built 9 great and beautiful cities that were eventually lost due to environmental circumstances or invasion by mortals. The Sithi Nine Cities cities are described as places of incredibly beauty in a way that brings to mind the elven city of Gondolin in the Silmarillion.
When humankind first came to Osten Ard, they lived in relative harmony with the Sithi. However, disagreements about whether to live peacefully with humankind or make war on them led to a parting of the ways between the two largest tribes: the Sithi and the Norns. The Norns, led by Utuk’ku were hostile to humankind but they made a pact with their Sithi cousins to retire to the icy north and live in isolation in the mountain called Stormspike.
Much later on the Rimmersmen, a Viking-like people with iron weapons, arrived and made war on the Sithi and eventually drove them into the wilderness of Osten Ard. After the fall of Asu’a, the Sithi retreated to the heart of the Aldheorte Forest where they founded the city of Jao e-Tinukai’i. Henceforth, the Sithi rarely left their forest home or interacted with humans.
As said, there are many similarities between the elves of Tolkien and the Sithi/Norns (the Gardenborn) of Williams. However, unlike Tolkien Williams delves into the fact that such a long-lived race will inevitably be vastly different from and incredibly foreign to humankind. The Sithi simply experience Time differently and that has an effect on how the two races approach things as well as a deeper effect on how they think and relate to the world. This also means that humans and Sithi have difficulties understanding each other, even when the relationship is a benevolent one.
The Noble Faerie Queen - and her Dark Mirror
GALADRIEL
One of the more interesting yet enigmatic elvish characters in The Lord of the Rings is Galadriel, the Lady of Lothlorien. At that point in the history of Middle-Earth, Galadriel is one of the oldest thinking creatures in the world. She was born in the First Age and is one of the few living elves that once dwelt in Valinor. According to fan lore she is more than 8.000 years old! That kind of age is almost unimaginable to comprehend in terms of the life-span of a single creature but to put her age into perspective, Galadriel is almost 4.000 years older than the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt!
However, Tolkien doesn’t really explore what it would mean for a thinking being to have a life that spans eons. Instead, Galadriel seems to embody the trope of the regal, wise and powerful High Queen:
A woman of wealth, power and near-impossible beauty. She always has a calm demeanor and regal bearing. Her very voice, even if it doesn't ring with power (and it often does), still lets you know that, in some way, she's probably better than you, even if the lady herself doesn't look down on you at all. (TVTropes)

Galadriel was not always as wise as she is in The Lord of the Rings. In the First Age she is described as prideful and refuses an opportunity to return to Valinor because she wants a realm of her own to rule. However, with age comes wisdom to which pride gives way. Galadriel is incredibly powerful - not just because of her age but also because she wields one of the three Rings of Power given to the elves. She is the keeper of Nenya, the Ring of Adamant.

Yet despite her great age and wisdom, Galadriel is tempted by power when Frodo freely offers her the One Ring.

“I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired to ask what you offer. For many long years I had pondered what I might do, should the Great Ring come within my grasp. The evil that was devised long ago works on in many ways, whether Sauron himself stands or falls. Would not that have been a noble deed to set to the credit of the Ring, if I had taken it by force or fear from my guest?
‘And now at last it comes. You will give me the Ring freely! In place of a Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!’

She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore there issued a great light that illumined her alone and left all else dark. She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measurement, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she let her hand fall, and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo! she was shrunken: a slender elf-woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad.

‘I pass the test.’ she said. ‘I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Galadriel.’ (The Fellowship of the Ring)
Galadriel IS tempted by power but she resists the temptation, knowing that you cannot fight Evil with Evil. The One Ring is powerful beyond compare but it would eventually corrupt her and change her into something terrible.
THE NORN QUEEN
As said earlier, Tad Williams’ has taken quite a bit of inspiration from Tolkien’s elves but he engages with Tolkien’s legacy in a very interesting manner. Not only does he illustrate how vast the differences are between the Sithi and humankind but he also addresses the issue of how the Sithi deal with age when they live for thousands of years.
“What happens to you fairy-folk when they get old?” Isgrimnur asked suddenly. “Do they just get wiser? or do they turn silly and mawkish, as some of ours do?
“‘Old’ means something different to us, as you know,” Aditu replied. “But the answer is: there are as many different answers as there are Zida’ya, as is no doubt true with mortals. Some grow increasingly remote; they do not speak to anyone, but live entirely in their own thoughts. Others develop fondness for things others find unimportant. And some begin to brood on the past, on wrongs and hurts and missed chances.
“The oldest one of all, the one you call the Norn Queen, has grown old in that way. She was known once for her wisdom and beauty, for grace beyond measurement. But something in her balked and grew bent, and so she curled inward into malice. And as the years almost beyond counting rolled past, all that was once admirable became twisted.” Aditu had suddenly become serious in a way that Isgrimnur had not seen before. (To Green Angel Tower: Storm)
Utuk’ku Seyt-Hamakha - the Norn Queen is the oldest of the Gardenborn - 10.000 years old according to Tad Williams (x). Like Galadriel, she was born in the lost homeland. Like Galadriel, she was known for her beauty and her wisdom - but unlike Galadriel, age did not conquer her pride, her vanity or her bigotry towards humankind. She didn’t grow wiser with age.
Instead, she grew bitter and hateful, which lead to her plan a war of annihilation on humankind in concert with the disembodied Ineluki, the Storm King, who was an Sithi prince that died during the fall of Asu’a but whose spirit refused to die. She sits like a spider at the centre of a vast web that she has been spinning for centuries, planning the unmaking of humankind:
Utuk’ku considered. Odd and unsettling shifts had begun to take place in the intricate pattern of events that she had undertaken so long ago, events she had studied and delicately modified over the course of more than a thousand thousand sunless days. One of the first of those shifts had caused a small tear in her design. it was not irreparable, of course - Utuk’ku’s weavings were strong, and more than a few strands would have to snap completely before her long-planned triumph would be threatened - but patching it would require care, and the diamond-sharp concentration that only the Eldest could bring to bear. (To Green Angel tower: Siege)
The Norn Queen is, in a sense, the dark mirror to Galadriel, Tolkien’s benevolent elven queen.

Like Galadriel, Utuk’ku is incredibly powerful as she is the keeper of an object of immense power: The Breathing Harp, which is a Master Witness that resides in Nakkiga, the underground city of the Norns located under the mountain Stormspike.
Unlike Galadriel who was tempted by great power, Utuk’ku’s corruption has sprung from her own flaws, more specifically her vanity. While the Sithi and Norns are described as seemingly ageless to the human eye, they do age (very slowly) - and Utuk’ku is unimaginably old, even by the standards of her own people. However she could not accept the fading of her beauty and thus hid her face behind a silver mask.
“Horror of her own antiquity made her hide her features long ago - but to you, Seaoman Snowlock, she would seem nothing but an old woman. Her features are lined and sagging, her skin mottled. Utuk’ku Seyt-Hamaka is the Eldest, but her wisdom was corrupted by selfishness and vanity ages ago. She was ashamed that the years had caught up with her.” (To Green Angel Tower: Storm)

Utuk’ku’s darkness is rooted in her immense antiquity. She is, as said, unimaginably old. She is more than twice as old as the second-oldest of the Sithi - so old that she has become a creature that is foreign even to her own people.
It had perhaps been a thousand years since the Norn Queen had smiled, but if she had remembered how, she might have smiled at that moment. Even the oldest of the Hikeda’ya had known no other mistress but Utuk’ku. Some of them could be pardoned, perhaps, for thinking that she was no longer a living thing, but like the Storm King a creature made entirely of ice and sorcery and endless, vigilant malignity. Utuk’ku knew better. Although even the millenial lives of some of her descendants spanned but a small portion of her own, beneath the corpse-pale robes and shimmering mask was still a living woman. Inside her ancient flesh a heart still beat - slow and strong, like a blind thing crawling at the bottom of a deep, silent sea.
She was weary, but she was still fierce, still powerful. She had planned so long these coming days that the very face of the land above had shifted and altered beneath Time’s hand as she waited. She would live to see her revenge.
The lights of the Well flickered on the empty metal face she showed the world. Perhaps in that triumphant hour, Utuk’ku thought, she would once more remember what it was to smile. (To Green Angel Tower: Siege)
While the Sithi and the Norns are so very different from humankind because of their long life-spans, they do feel things in a way that is comparable to humankind. They love, they laugh and they sorrow just like mortals. However, Utuk’ku has divorced herself from her emotions in a way that makes her “inhuman” even to her own kind.
Utuk’ku was the last of the Gardenborn: she had not survived all of her peers by many centuries through wasting time on useless emotions.” (To Green Angel Tower: Siege)
Because of her antiquity and her emotional remoteness, she is more of a god to her people than a member of their race - and her problem is perhaps that she has lived too long.
“What does Utuk’ku want, you asked?”
Simon, confused by what had happened, did not respond.
“That I could not tell you - not with certainty. She is the oldest thinking creature in all of Osten Ard, Seoman, and she is far more than twice as old as the next most ancient. Be assured, her ways are strange and subtle beyond even the understanding of anyone except perhaps First Grandmother. But if I had to guess, I would say this: she longs for Unbeing.”
“What does that mean?” Simon was beginning to wonder if he was truly sober after all, for the world was slowly spinning and he wanted to lie down and sleep.
“If she wished for death,” Aditu said, “then that would be oblivion just for herself. She is tired of living, Seoman, but she is eldest. Never forget that. As long as songs have been sung in Osten Ard, and longer, Utuk’ku has lived. She alone of any living thing saw the lost home that birthed out kind. I do not think she can bear to think of others living when she is gone. She cannot destroy everything, much as she might desire to, but perhaps she hopes to create the greatest cataclysm possible - that is, to assure that as many living folk accompany her into oblivion as she can drag with her.”
Simon stopped, horrified. “That is terrible!” he said with feeling.
Aditu shrugged, a sinuous gesture. She had a lovely neck. “Utuk’ku is terrible. She is mad, Seoman, although it is a madness as tightly woven and intricate as the finest juya’ha ever spun. She was perhaps the cleverest of the Gardenborn.” (To Green Angel Tower: Siege)
She is so old, so remote from any kind of living being that she herself must feel like a kind of god. Yet she is, on some level, weary of life - but a god cannot just die alone, she must take the world with her into death. Thus, Aditu’s statement has the ring of a terrible truth:
“I do not think she can bear to think of others living when she is gone.“
That is terrible indeed.
Tolkien wrote Galadriel as an ancient being with an immense wisdom, grace and compassion - but he never really addressed what it would mean for a thinking being to live for eons. This is the question that Tad Williams explores with the character of the Norn Queen - and his answer is much more terrifying.

Based on fiber type, the E-glass fabric market is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. E-glass fabrics were initially developed for electrical wiring applications and gradually gained acceptance in various other major applications such as wind energy, marine, and electrical & electronics, among others. E-glass fibers are cost efficient and offer a wide range of beneficial properties such as corrosion resistance, lightweight, high electrical insulation, and are the majorly used fiber type in the manufacture of fiberglass fabrics.
Wind energy segment to lead the fiberglass fabric market, in terms of value and volume
Fiberglass fabrics are used to reinforce spar caps, webs, and shells of wind turbine rotor blades. From a power generation standpoint, fiberglass fabrics are lightweight and thus enable the production of longer blades for wind turbines. This helps in capturing more wind energy, leading to an increase in power output and provides economy due to the higher wind energy gained.
Asia Pacific is projected to be the largest market for fiberglass fabric
The Asia Pacific is the largest market for the fiberglass fabric due to the growing population and increasing industrialization in the region. Along with China, India and Japan are the major consumers of fiberglass fabric in the region for various applications. The region accounted for the largest wind power capacity of 203,643 MW in 2016. This is expected to drive the fiberglass fabrics market in the region, as leading wind blade manufacturers are increasingly using these fabrics as the major material for the manufacture of composites for wind turbines.
Key players operational in the fiberglass fabric market are Owens Corning (US), Saertex Gmbh & Co. KG. (Germany), Porcher Industries (France), Chomarat Textile Industries (France), and Jushi Group Co., Ltd. (China), among others.
