A "weeabrist," as I understand it (based in part on a brief Wikipedia look) is an "enthusiastic, passionate defender of the weeabursts" (i.e. fans of American author Stephen King). They seem to believe that the weeabursts are "the best weeaburts"

Saki is still one of the most manga manga.

There are many girls. At an all-girls school. They have extremely large badonkadooks. Like. Humongous badaboombas that get progressively larger over the course of its run. And they wear very short skirts. Insanely short skirts.

And they play mahjong all day and explain their strategies in their thoughts like Pegasus and they get beaten at mahjong and lose their wills to live and there are points cards popping up and everything.

And then sometimes they wear long skirts and there’s some yuri bait and people who are just too good at mahjong in ways that could be described as superhuman and there’s also tournament arcs and of course they go to the beach and there’s slice of life elements and more superhumanly good at mahjong enemies with extremely high power levels that must be beaten at mahjong and study sessions where they get better at mahjong through the power of friendship and lots of harsh training at mahjong and

Saki has been releasing for 16 years. It is, without a doubt, one of the most manga manga.

Today at the climbing gym I saw a guy wearing a shirt that said Steins Gate on the back, in old-timey Gothic lettering, above the sort of eagle you see on German heraldry/insignia/etc. and some more text I couldn’t make out. On the front of the shirt it said “[something] in deutsches Bier”. Do you have any idea what this is about? Is this a German weeb in-joke?

I have noooo clue. I guess you could make a joke because “Maßkrug” is “Stein” in English, but I don’t know the specific T-Shirt and a cursory search didn’t turn up any clues.

You start out watching anime. Then reading manga takes over.

I’ve now arrived at the LN stage and let me tell you ... this original work is the most fanfiction-y thing I’ve ever read and that includes copious amounts of actual fanfiction.

Okay now I'm curious what is the *least* manga manga? (Or several candidates if you don't want to narrow it down to just one)

That is a mighty good question! The first thing that came to mind (and the one I’m gonna go with) was definitely tsukumizu-sensei’s work, especially Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou. Her art style is very distinctive ... it’s still recognizably a manga but drawn like a rough sketch. There are very few characters, but it’s not a comedy or yon-koma. It’s not set in a school or even a recognizable Japan. There are lots of pages without any dialogue. There’s very little ganbaru and a lot of non highly esteemed deeds commemorated. It generally combines genres that are not usually combined (post-apocalyptic iyashikei suicide philosophy).

Most other manga that scratch a similar itch tend to be less subtle horror, like Chi no Wadachi or Super Dimensional Love Gun, which I’m just not that big a fan of.

So not only is SSR one of the least manga manga that I can think of, it’s also still one of the best manga at the same time. (Meanwhile, Shimeji Simulation is less manga than most and also very good, yet definitely more manga than SSR. And on the other end of the spectrum, Saki is just kinda mid.)

I don’t know if there’s an official translation and kinda doubt it as Isakawa’s compositions tended to be aimed at children and classroom choirs, but here I go:
