Art in the Environment Week 4: Principles
Reading: Theory of the Dérive By: Guy Debord Reading: Theories and Documents of Contemporary Art By: Kristine Stiles and Peter Selz Reading: A Tour of the Monuments of Passaic, New Jersey By: Robert Smithson While week 4 reading, I now have a better or more full understanding that becoming an artist or being an artist is more than just creating an artwork to present to the viewers. An artist should throw themselves into the world to create a more unique and soul experience artwork. By using tools, techniques, approaches and methods the artist can picture and channel their views of the world into their work and shoring it with the rest of the world. For example, using derive to present an artwork creates for depths and meaning.

Art in the Environment Week 3: Principle Reading: The Pleasures of Eating By: Wendell Berry Reading: An interview with Stewart Scambler By: Robert Cook is Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of Western Australia I’ve always had a belief that the stronger the relationship between the artist and their artwork the more meaning and purpose the work has. During week 3 reading I know have a full understanding that the connection between the artist and their artwork creates a meaning. The artist should have a strong connection or a relationship with not just the artwork but also the equipment used to create the artwork such as the tools.

Art in the Environment Week 1: Principle Reading: Letter of Recommendation: AstroTurf By Rebecca Giggs Reading: Conditional Art By: Robert Irwin What I learnt from reading Letter of Recommendation: AstroTurf and Conditional Art is that the context is the main and important feature in appreciation of art. Art appreciation is how to knowledge the qualities and understand the world that identify all art. The more someone appreciate and understand the style, techniques, movement, the better the person can develop, improve their own artwork and art understanding

Art in the Environment Week 7: Principle
During week 7 I learnt the principle that when and while making art in the environment the artist must think about his/hers surrounding. Including the environment around them also the people of the environment. An artist should think how their artwork effects the environment behaviour. As Robert Macfarlane said “all travellers to wild places will have felt some version of this, a brief blazing perception of the world’s disinterest. In small measures, it exhilarates. But in full form it annihilates”.

Art in the Environment Week 6: Principle
I believe that many artist have a great impact on the world through their artworks and photography. Art is all around us in daily life, therefore an artist can impact the world and the views through their work. Art is powerful, meaningful and life experienced which allows it to be influencing in many ways such as; socially, emotionally, spiritually and personal. When artist create a master piece they should be presenting a statement with meaning and influence to capture and hook the audience to create a voice for the work represented.

Art in the Environment Week 5: Principle
Reading: The Centre for Land Use Interpretation’s “Theory of the Present”
By: Karen Rapp
Reading the Centre for Land Use Interpretation’s “Theory of the Present” by Karen Rapp speaks volume about how artist communicate their artwork. Artworks have many forms and structure but each detail represented should have a meaning or a purpose. Every angle represented should form a story to tell. On the other hand, artist should use their highest abilities to document their represented work to the audience and to the viewers.

Art in the Environment Week 2: Principle Reading: A Tracings: A photographic Investigation into Being in the Land By: Christl Berg Reading A Tracings: A photographic Investigation into Being in the Land allowed me to understand the meaning behind art photography. The artist should create an artwork that invites the viewers to interact and participate fully by using their emotions and senses to allow them to experience the full experience of the artwork.
