Seeking Validation: An Initial Quest in Providing Convenience
JUST NOW!
WeFetch! recently conducted their venture proposal at the College of Business and Management building, ACCY 3 room last February 13, 2024. The proponents of this proposed application are the following: Samantha Angelie Alonzo, Raul Gacang Jr., Kristel Jane Francisco, Kiana Palmares, Charimaine Penola, Mark Kenjie Penoso, Christian Lloyd Tonson, and Michael Yotoko.
The pitchers were Alonzo and Palmares; scriptwriters were Gacang, Tonson, and Yotoko; and the ones who led the making of PowerPoint presentation were Francisco, Penola, and Palmares. Thus, the workloads of each of the members of the group were equally divided.
As quoted from the comment of their panelist, “Need lang ninyo iimprove inyong infographics, guys. Chada na ang presentation but you need to work on it nga dili siya confusing tan-awon.”, the proponents then took note of it and will strive to improve their software application.

On February 22, 2024, the proponents of WeFetch! go in pair to seek validation from their prospect customers. They interviewed random students and highlighted the best features of the app, which includes:
Faster transactions
Safer travels
Affordable fare and fee
Secure journey
Offers part time opportunities
After the said interview, most of the responses said that they might invest in the application due to its timeliness and relevance. However, concerns from each of them followed:
Online access of the app: strong internet connection cannot be accessible anywhere in the campus
Limited number of riders: concerns on unavailable rider
Contact number: contact number of the management must be provided to still cater the needs of a customer in cases wherein online access cannot be possible
Snips of the customer validation interview:

On the same day of the customer validation, the proponents gathered to sum up their ideas for their Business Model Canvas, which will be used for their mid-term pitching on March 5, 2024. Forming a circle, they exchanged ideas, suggested improvements, and neglected some possible flaws in the making of the app.

Cost structure, revenue streams, and customer relationships are what needs to be improved in the Business Model Canvas.
"Seeking validation from customers shed a light to us. Through this activity, it made us realize the possible risks and concerns of the application by the time it will be implemented. It has opened our eyes to seeing the better version of our app. Therefore, I have learned that in creating something for the community, one must need to gather views and opinions from different people in order to acknowledge and decipher the best version of the service that will be given",
quoted in the statement of Kiana Palmares, the team leader.

Conversations That Matter: Exploring the Heartbeat of Your Users - A Journey into Customer Validation Interviews

Following the nod from our instructor after a successful pitch for our app, WeFetch, and the anticipation building up for our final midterms presentation, our team eagerly dived into the heart of our user community. We split into pairs, just like we did before, aiming for a more intimate connection with our potential customers scattered around the Central Mindanao University (CMU) campus.

Wandering through the grounds, we were fortunate to engage in candid conversations with various individuals, each sharing their unique insights on WeFetch. Our app, inspired by the likes of Angkas and FoodPanda, aims to go beyond conventional boundaries, offering an array of services such as transportation, food delivery, and even the option to send personalized items to someone special. The richness of our interviews went beyond a mere exchange of opinions; it delved into the potential impact of WeFetch on people's lives. The heartening feedback we received during these conversations echoed the sentiment that WeFetch isn't just about services; it's about creating opportunities. Whether you're a student looking for a part-time gig or someone seeking full-time employment, WeFetch opens its doors, provided you have a driver's license and get the green light from our system.

Amidst the positive vibes, we also encountered valuable suggestions, particularly around the user interface. Some shared concerns about the potential learning curve, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that WeFetch is effortlessly navigable for everyone. This feedback resonated with us, underlining the need to make our app not just innovative but also inclusive.
One standout theme that emerged was the impact WeFetch could have on student life. The convenience it offers, especially for those with dorms situated far from the campus or those attending night classes, struck a chord. Beyond being a job provider, WeFetch became a beacon of safety, ensuring that students could book a ride or service anytime, anywhere within Central Mindanao University.
These conversations weren't just about data collection; they were about building connections, understanding stories, and weaving the human experience into the fabric of WeFetch. As we gear up for our final pitch, these encounters continue to guide us, making WeFetch not just a technological solution but a human-centric one.

CHAPTER CLOSED : THE END OF AN adVENTURE
APRIL 30, 2024 - FINAL BUSINESS VENTURE PITCHING

The day finally came! The day we all have been anticipating and preparing for. Months and months of hard work and team work had led to this very moment. At last, we made it to the final pitching for our business venture!
The day of the final pitching was really filled with mixed emotions. I was very excited and glad that we were able to reach the culminating stage of our entrepreneurial mind journey. I have personally witnessed the development of our product, WeFetch. From a simple idea, it has now grown into a viable and tangible solution to a problem that a lot of Central Mindanao University constituents face on a daily basis. With that, I was very proud and thrilled to be able to formally present our business venture in front of professionals in the field of business. But at the same time, I also felt nervous and wary about what the panelist might say about our product. But all I know is that we did everything we can to prepare for the pitching and whatever happens, I know we did our best.
Although I was not assigned to present our business venture, I still felt the nerve being in front of the panelists. During the pitching, various thoughts came flashing inside my mind. “Have we considered everything we needed to consider?”. “Did we miss any significant details about our application?”. “What will the panelists say about our business venture?”. Despite all these, I put my trust in the capabilities of my team to push through the pitching. We are very grateful for the valuable insights of the panelists. Their opinions and suggestions were really helpful in improving our business venture and we are sure to apply them in the future. The final pitching of our business venture was a pivotal moment that encapsulated months of hard work, learning, and growth. It was an opportunity to showcase our vision and potential while also receiving invaluable insights from experts to propel us forward. With that, we are very thankful that we finally conquered it. We couldn’t have done it without the cooperation and effort of everyone on the team.
MAY 08, 2024 - LECTURE SERIES

When I heard that there was going to be a lecture series in our Entrepreneurial Mind subject, I didn’t really felt excited. I thought it was just going to be a boring lecture with cliche topics about business that we are already familiar about. At first, I didn’t really comprehend the significance of such an event, but as I tuned in to the program, I soon found it very interesting.
The lecture series was a very insightful event. With speakers from different discipline in the world of business, I learned diverse information and lessons about different sectors in business. The speakers really taught us how to become a successful business owners in the future and how to properly manage one. For that, we are very thankful for the time and expertise that the guest speakers have shared to us.
MY TAKEAWAYS IN THE ENTREPRENEURIAL MIND JOURNEY

The entrepreneurial mind subject was truly a roller coaster journey and adventure. There were times where we were challenged psychologically, to cite an example, the rejection therapy activity. Our emotional capacity and patience were also put to the test with the diverse tasks that we needed to accomplish, which sometimes caused conflicts and misunderstanding within the group. There were times where we would have to work restless nights just to prepare and finish our presentations and assigned tasks, which challenged us physically. However at the end of the day, I have come to realize that all these challenges were there to prepare us to the real world. They were set there for us to experience what it really takes to become a entrepreneur. One cannot become a successful entrepreneur if they are afraid of risks and rejections; if they do not know how to work in a team and understand their members; if they are not mentally and physically prepare to embark in the exhausting and draining journey of starting and managing a business. I have truly learned a lot in this subject that I know I can apply in my daily life. We are very thankful for this experience and opportunity to explore and develop ourselves not just as future entrepreneurs, but also holistically as individuals. Our desire to continue pursuing our entrepreneurial ambitions with utmost passion and determination has been strengthened by this amazing experience. Our chapter in this subject may have come to an end already, but it has definitely opened us up to new windows of self discovery, development and limitless possibilities.

AN ENTREPRENEURIAL MIND JOURNEY
NEWS FLASH!
I, Kiana F. Palmares, am not that interested with entrepreneurial mind in the first place. However, this subject has sparked something in me. It kind of tickled my mind to do and explore some things about this field. Through this course, I have learned to turn problems into opportunities. I have also realized that this field is not that easy as it may seem to others. Moreso, I learned how to manage my time properly, and how to interact with people more effectively. This Final term has gone by so passed and the events that we have conducted are the Final Term Pitching and the Lecture Series.

Last April 30, 2024, WeFetch! had their Final term Pitching at the College of Business and Management building, Employee Lounge. The proponents of this proposed application are the following: Samantha Angelie Alonzo, Raul Gacang Jr., Kristel Jane Francisco, Kiana Palmares, Charimaine Penola, Mark Kenjie Penoso, Christian Lloyd Tonson, and Michael Yotoko. They have discussed the details of their application including how it will work, its fixed rates for every service that will be offered, and details about its value propositions.
The pitcher was Palmares; scriptwriters were Gacang, Tonson, and Yotoko; and the ones who led the making of PowerPoint presentation and the prototype of the application were Francisco, Penola, and Penoso. Alonzo is then assigned to the video production and other details needed for the making of the app. Thus, the workloads of each of the members of the group were equally divided.
Their Final Pitching went much better for them. They are the fifth presenter from their class to pitch their proposed service. The panelists this time listened to their talks. However, the former raised some concerns especially on the rates of the service. They asked if how we are going to manage such big target market with only limited resources and affordable rates. After defending our proposed venture, we have agreed to polish everything if we will opt to continue working on this application. The panelists also made us realized that there will be competitors anywhere, so we must be diligent enough to be better than them.
May 8, 2024. The GEE 16 conducted their Lecture Series at the University Convention Center. There are four speakers who have spoken about the most important things to remember in this field. For instance, they have discussed about what a startup is and how to classify it from others. Moreover, they also highlighted the importance of different aspects that will be relevant in entrepreneurship. Looking forward to more events like this soon because it served as an eye opener for everyone who is and will be working in this field soon.

The Entrepreneurial Mind Journey of a Civil Engineering student

Pitching an idea initially seemed straightforward to me, but the panelists at our final pitch presentation quickly proved otherwise. Their insightful feedback and business acumen were both challenging and eye-opening, highlighting the gaps in our pitch that we hadn't anticipated. Despite the tough questions and critical analysis, we managed to present our idea for the WeFetch app. While our group successfully navigated many of the questions, there were moments where some of us, including myself, struggled to provide adequate answers. The entire experience underscored the complexity of pitching a business idea and the demanding nature of entering the business world. It became clear that the process requires more than just a good idea—it demands rigorous preparation, in-depth knowledge, and the ability to think on one's feet, which goes beyond the typical experiences of regular students.

Entrepreneurship is the process of starting and running a new business or venture, often characterized by innovation, risk-taking, and proactive problem-solving. Entrepreneurs identify market opportunities, create and implement business plans, and navigate challenges to establish and grow their enterprises. To become an entrepreneur, one should start by identifying a unique idea or market need, conduct thorough research, and develop a solid business plan. Acquiring necessary skills and knowledge through education or experience, securing funding, and building a network of mentors and advisors can also significantly aid in the entrepreneurial journey. These are the things that we learned during the lecture series that happened on May 8, 2024, at the University Convention Center of Central Mindanao University.

Talking about a journey filled with learning and joy really warms my heart, especially the memories made with my group mates, and not just my group but also all the other groups that pitched their ideas with us. The entrepreneurial journey was a roller coaster, from having problems deciding on our final product, to asking strangers about their issues, to formulating an app that addresses the top three problems they encountered. This was especially challenging since we are civil engineering majors, not business majors accustomed to these tasks. We constructed an app that caters to both transportation needs and security concerns. To validate our idea, we conducted surveys with students around the campus to determine their willingness to sign up as users.

The entire experience, from brainstorming to the final pitch, was a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones. It was more than an academic exercise; it was a real-world challenge that required us to think critically, adapt quickly, and work cohesively as a team. The lessons learned and the camaraderie built throughout this journey have been invaluable, shaping not only our understanding of entrepreneurship but also our approach to future challenges in our respective fields. Moreover, without the help and guidance of our instructor, Reymark Menguito, our journey would not have been as successful. His support was crucial in navigating the complexities of our project and ensuring that we remained focused and motivated throughout the process.

A New Chapter has Emerged : The Journey Coming Into the Finals
MARCH 05, 2024 - BUSINESS VENTURE PITCHING

The journey in conceptualizing the WeFetch business venture has not been an easy path for the group. A lot of struggles and obstacles had to be faced and conquered. Despite all these, the team was still able to triumph and was one step closer in making their concept a reality. From a simple idea, to a viable solution to the mobility problem in Central Mindanao University that we are all too familiar with. After weeks and weeks of work and preparation, the group has finally reached a milestone which is the business venture proposal pitching.
Going into the pitching proposal was both a nerve-wracking but exciting experience for the team. It was daunting in the sense that we didn't have any idea what the panelist might think or say about our proposed concept and we were unsure if we have considered everything we needed to consider in our Business Model Canvas (BMC). But at the same time we were delighted to present the months of hardwork and time we have invested into this business venture and see it into fruition. During the actual pitching, we were able to gain valuable insights from our panelists that surely helped us improve our app's features and functions. Although the group would have hoped to be given more time to think and answer the questions thrown at them, we were still very thankful to the panelists who have given us some fresh perspectives and opinions about our app. After the pitching, the team were relieved their idea was not rejected and are sure to apply the comments and suggestions given to them.
APRIL 16, 2024 - PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FILMING

When the group were given the task to create a promotional video regarding their business venture, they immediately started to brainstorm the concept they are going to be making. In the end, the team decided to create a video where in the audience especially their target market which are the people in Central Mindanao University can relate to. After deciding the plot of the video, each group members were assigned their roles. Me, Michael, Raul, and Christian were chosen to be the actors. While Kiana was the director and Charimaine and Kristel were the script writers. Sam on the other hand was assigned to be the cinematographer as well as the video editor. The filming process generally went pretty well and we were able to wrap up all the scenes on the same day. Overall, it was a very productive day and it really highlighted the importance of teamwork and cooperation in a group. After filming, Sam did the editing with the help of Kiana as well as the insights of other members. I was very glad seeing how the video turned out, I believe it really encapsulated the significance and practical use of our app.
APRIL 22, 2024 - INTERVIEWS, INTERVIEWS, INTERVIEWS
To gain additional insights and suggestions for our app, we interviewed at least ten (10) individuals in Central Mindanao University. To make the process more efficient and less time consuming, the team decided to divide the task by pairs. Each pair had to interview 2-3 individuals around the campus and ask them about their opinions, expectations, and recommendations about the WeFetch app. I was lucky enough to be paired with Kristel, and together we were able to conduct the interviews rather smoothly. As it turns out, the major concerns that were raised during the interviews were mostly about the security features and user interface of the app. All of these queries where promptly answered by interviewers to give the interviewees more details about the app. The interviews were really a great learning experience for the team as we were able to obtain meaningful information from our target market's point-of-view. Through their responses, the group were able to identify and asses the aspects in their business venture that need to be improved and taken into consideration in the future.

Finding Consumers: A Journey to Providing Convenience
NEWS UPDATE!
WeFetch! had their Midterm Pitching at the College of Business and Management building, Employee Lounge, last March 5, 2024. The proponents of this proposed application are the following: Samantha Angelie Alonzo, Raul Gacang Jr., Kristel Jane Francisco, Kiana Palmares, Charimaine Penola, Mark Kenjie Penoso, Christian Lloyd Tonson, and Michael Yotoko. They discussed the details of their application including how it will work, who will benefit from it and who are their target customers and consumers. Moreover, they discussed the job opportunities they will offer upon the release of this said software application.
The pitcher was Palmares; scriptwriters were Gacang, Tonson, and Yotoko; and the ones who led the making of PowerPoint presentation were Alonzo, Francisco, Penola, and Penoso. Thus, the workloads of each of the members of the group were equally divided.
Their Midterm Pitching didn't went well for them, honestly. They are the sixth group from their class to pitch their proposed service. However, even from the beginning, the panels were talking to each other and weren't listening, but Palmares continued pitching. During the question and answer portion, the panelists asked questions that was already discussed by the pitcher earlier. They had clarified things that was supposed to be clarified already, if they just listened to the one pitching. Moreso, their question and answer were timed. Thus, they were just inside the room for less than 20 minutes, which is kind of unfair for them because the previous groups were given much time inside the Employee Lounge and lasted for 45 minutes to an hour.
Nevertheless, the group just took it as an inspiration to do better next time. They let things be and hoped that everything will improve the next time around.

April 16, 2024. The proponents of WeFetch! filmed the clips for their promotional video. They utilized the College of Engineering Grounds, and the College of Forestry Extension as their setting. They had Yotoko and Penoso as the main charaters, Gacang and Tonson as WeFetch! riders, Francisco and Penola as the ones who will finalize the app prototype, and Alonzo and Palmares as the cameramen and directors. Look forward to their advertisement!

On April 22, 2024, WeFetch! decided to go in pair to find customers who are willing to avail or use their application. They interviewed random students and highlighted the best features of the app, which includes:
Convenience to everyone anywhere inside the campus
Safer and more secure travels
Affordable fare and delivery fee
Offers part time job to students with valid driver's license and own personal vehicle
After conducting the interview, most of the respondents said that they might invest in the application due to its timeliness, relevance and convenience. However, concerns from each of them followed:
Online access of the app: strong internet connection is needed and it might not be available everywhere
Affordable fare and delivery fee: profit of rider and the app owners might be compromised or they might be bankrupt
Showing of driver's license: it might go against the Data Privacy Act of 2012
Snips from the interview:

Kiana Palmares, the team leader then said, "Even though they call or refer our app as something "generic" or "common", one can't deny the fact that it is what the majority of the population wanted. They want something that can provide them with ease and convenience, with only having an affordable amount. On the other side, our software application still needs a lot of improvement that we need to work on before fully developing it. Thus, we will do better. Thank you!"

From pitch to feedback: The WeFetch Journey on Campus
On March 5, 2024, we had a big chance to talk about our idea with some really smart people which is our panelist. They told us what they thought could make our app, WeFetch, even better. They also shared tips on how we could do well against other apps similar to us on the campus. Even though we had some tough times, we did a good job explaining our app.

Lights, Camera, Action: Crafting the WeFetch Promo
Getting people to know about a product without a commercial is tough. So, we decided to make a short video to show off WeFetch. It was a challenge for our to team make such a commercial because the promotional video had to be quick and concise, that should only last under a minute. Everyone in our team had a job to do: some wrote down what the characters would say, some pretended to be the characters, some recorded the video, and some put it all together. We decided to film on campus because most of the people who would use WeFetch are students. It was really sunny that day, but we kept going until we finished. Our video isn't just catchy; it also helps people feel like they know the characters in it. That makes them curious about WeFetch.

Embracing WeFetch: Student Enthusiasm and Convenience
But we didn't stop there. We wanted to know what other students thought about WeFetch. During midterms, we went around talking to students at CMU. We showed them how WeFetch works and asked what they thought about it. To make things quicker, we split into smaller groups, like we did before. Today, on April 23, 2024, Majority of the interviewees were eager to download our app and join our user community. They expressed enthusiasm for the convenience WeFetch offers, especially appreciating its value for busy students who don't have much time to spare. We finished all our talks. We got a lot of good feedback that we can use to make WeFetch even better.

One of the cornerstones of our approach to app development is our unwavering dedication to listening to our users. We understand that the true value of any app lies in its ability to meet the needs and preferences of its users, which is why we make it a priority to actively seek out and embrace feedback from those who use our app on a daily basis. Our recent interviews with students provided us with a wealth of valuable insights, ranging from suggestions for new features to constructive criticism regarding existing functionalities.
