Wendell and Wild could not be more blatant if they tried and I love it. The main villains are CEOs who run a private prison, and their corporation name is one K off from being the name of the most notorious white supremacist group in America. The main heroes are a bunch of black and brown children, used and abused by the school to prison pipeline who come together in solidarity against the greed of KK. The main hero has a panic attack, is bullied, angry, and unapologetically punk, and literally faces down her memories to take control of her life back from both her PTSD and the system that exploited her. Jordan Peele and Henry Selick said fuck subtlety, this movie is going to be unapologetically in your face about its anti-prison and anti-capitalist themes all with a majority POC group of heroes who fight back against the system. Sometimes a movie is served by its subtly, but not this one. Wendell and Wild is as bold and beautiful as it’s animation and it deserves all the praise it’s going to get.

Every episode starts with Wendell and Wild sneaking out from the underworld to see Kat. and ends with them sneaking back in.

im 25 minutes into wendell & wild right now and oh my god. raúl is so relatable already it hurts. while i may not understand the intersectional influences of ethnicity/race, the way they've written him is making my heart ache. he's an artistic kid who keeps to himself and has incredible ambitions. he used to be part of an 'in crowd' prior to his transition from what im guessing. his classmates deadname him and then act like it was just a silly mistake even though they've known for so long and it just stings because they used to be your friends. the fact his mother has to bark down her phone "i have a son to feed. no, i have a son." because these people just can't respect these basic transitions. even the subtle things where teachers will refer to the class or student body as 'girls'. he's such a delight to see on my screen as a working class transmasc in an 'all girls' school and i love him so so much. he and kat mean the world to me and they're both such good characters to see on my screen. literally so well written. i really want to see more of kat too

Headcanons about Wendell and Wild others siblings

Belissa: The oldest of the demon siblings. Cool, rebellious big sister energy. She's a tough cookie but is supportive of her younger siblings and doesn't hesitate to help when thier in trouble."If you two aren't back before dad wakes up I'm not covering for you" .

Wincer and Gnasher: Thier the disaster twins. The evil twins. Thier a couple of trouble makers who love pulling pranks and causing problems for thier other siblings. Especially Wendell and Wild.

Wincer is the mastermind in thier schemes. A self proclaimed Evil genius.

Gnasher gets his name from his oversized teeth, and thier not just for show.

Zostril: The smart brother. He's Belissa right hand man, he helps keep thier family out of trouble. He knows a lot about magic and teachers Wendell and Wild everything He knows. He even gives Wendell and Wild a book on magic.

Heddie: she's small but tough. The quiet type. Fun and good natured, She has a lot in common with Wendell and Wild and doesn't mind helping the duo sneak out to see Kat.
