Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir quick review (SPOILERS)
I have very mixed opinions on this special, mostly negative.
As always I personally think there are several writing issues. First of all, the fact that most of the pre-established lore rules, at least what little they did enstablish, were ignored for moving the plot forward in this special and for giving the vibe of "bad guys", probably justifying it with the multiverse. If the only difference was supposed to be in the roles of protagonist and antagonist, then not so many things should change, like the weapon and their purpose. Furthermore, I find it absurd that the issue of the 5 minute limit is actually being explained to us for the first time after 5 seasons, clearly invented on the spot. There are a lot of things where we're told we should know, but in truth nothing was said before in the series. I feel like the multiverse is not something we HAD to learn about before, but the consequences of breaking the 5 minute rule? Yeah.
A lot of use of the shock value without really enstablishing what will make it shocking and touching eventually.
We also see very little about the alternate world. Marinette basically chooses that route because it's assumed that Alya didn't sit next to her at the beginning of the year (it's apparently also said in the novel that she became an orphan, but that's not explained or shown here). Adrien instead, because his mother died and he wants to bring her back (Although it is clearly stated before in the special that he didn't know about the Wish before coming to that universe). While also it's interesting to see the roles swapped, seen how it was treated in the main series, I don't quite like that it's implied that one of the Agreste family would necessarily be a toxic figure (as we don't see other usiverses being both positive figures), especially if in that case Gabriel was caring and capable of going through mourning.
The basic idea of the special was interesting, but I don't quite enjoy how it was handled...
This deserved more space and more insight on the other world, to help us empathize with characters that Thomas wanted us to cry with. There are scenes that would be very nice, but it needed better bases in my opinion. The only thing I promote is the storyboard of certain scenes and the soundtrack.
I also enjoyed Giulia Andrada and I think Kanae Kondo? (It seems her art)
Ah, the final "reformed" Ladybug costume is better than both of the original in my opinion XD

10. What do you value in friendship and tell me about your best friend?
I value sincerity in friendships. I believe that strong friendships form based on genuine connection and unconditional love for one another. My best friend Camille Santos and I have been best friends since 2nd grade. We actually became friends just because we complement one another on whatever we were wearing that day and from then on the rest was history. I would see her at least 6/7 days a week in person and additionally talk on the phone everyday for hours on end. We have gone through trauma, fights, hardships, pain, pure happiness, excitement and all emotions that seem to exist together. I have never laughed harder than when I am with her. She brightens up my day for simply being there. I appreciate her and our memories that we share and continue to make with one another. We had many goals for our friendship and it still makes me emotional that we have achieved them. One of the biggest things we wanted to do was live with each other one day. We did in fact eventually both attend UC Davis and she is currently my roomate. I am so thankful that what we have is not only so special and genuine, but I feel 100% myself and accepted her. I know that she also feels the same. While I am moving away to socal for my 20's, I don't worry about it denting my relationship with her at all. I know that at the end of the day, we mutually want to be THAT person for one another.

After the death of the previous Queen Demetria, she was destined to be the queen of Lidea as she was the only one remaining with a split blood goddess and fairy. Queen Esmeralda has four daughters with different fathers, Anastasia, the ełdest daughter, followed by Helena, Victoria, and Andrada, the youngest. The four royal daughters were soon to be elected to be the future queen of Lidea, with one of them becoming the next (queen of the Lidean queendom....

Council Dina: Queen Esmeralda.... why??
Council Lorina: What will happen to us? We have no idea what we will be doing if you are no longer our Queen? What will happen to the future of Mysorea?

Scene 3
Agare (Fairy): That is what I am thinking too, Dear Queen... We know we can't force you from stepping down since it is already decided by yours, but who will be the next Queen? Is it Council Alira?
Council Alira: There is a rule that we are following as a member of council of Lidea. And as said to the rule, council members are not allowed to take over the position but only will be the guidance of the Queen. The only option right now are the four daughters of Queen Esmeralda
Agare (Fairy): W-What? Who among them?
*Everyone is now picking among the four daughters of the Queen
Irena (Fairy): I hope it is Princess Anastasia who will take over the throne since she is the eldest among her siblings.... She is also smart and no doubt she will be a good leader.
Marina (Fairy): I am sure it is Princess Helena, she is kind and has a good attitude, I hope she
will be the next queen of Mysorea…
Irena (Fairy): No! Princess Anastasia is smart and has amnazing fighting skills. She is more
deserving!
Marina (Fairy): I disagree! We need a leader that will listen to us not just because of their skills and I can see it will be Princess Helena…
*The fairies are rooting among four princesses for their next queen
Council Alira: Be silent! You all have no shame! Why are you fighting in the queendom of
Lidea? You have no respect to the Queen!
Queen Esmeralda: Don't fight any longer since it's not what you want to follow who will be the next Lidea's queen. I will put my four daughters, Anastasia, Helena, Victoria, and Andrada, in a test and obstacles, and the winner will be the future Lidean queen. They will demonstrate their merit and ability in this manner, and I will determine who will be the future queen. Is that good with everyone?
*The council members and the fairies agrees with what the Queen decided…
Queen Esmeralda: And, In the coming selection, you all have to be present here in the queendom to acknowledge the new Queen of Lidea.

Council Alira: Princess Andrada was defeated. Your turn Princess Helena. Get ready!
Helena: May what my father taught me prevail over me! For Mysorea!

Helena: Congratulations on your victory against Victoria and Andrada. It is now my turn.
*The battle started...
*Everyone cheered for Princess Helena
Marina (Fairy): Goddess, may Princess Helena win!

Helena: Why are you here Anastasia?!
Anastasia: I will finish this.
*Princess Helena and Anastasia fighting Naswen
relena: She is very strong!
Anastasia: Are you already giving up? You are just like Andrada who is weak.
Helena: It's just that her actions make me question. If she wants to defeat us, why doesn't she
injure us?
Anastasia: I will figure it out with myself.
*They have already reached Queendom
Council Alira: Oh no! Princess Helena fell!
*In the fight scene
Helena: Anastasia help me! I don't want to die!st
Anastasia: Hold on to my hand Helena! Don't let go of my hand!
*Anastasia came up with an evil plan
Anastasia: Forgive me Helena, but I have to do it
Helena: Anastasiaaaaaaa-
*Out of nowhere, Naswen saved Helena from falling, it turns out that Naswen is their mother
Esmeralda, and Helena figured it out....
Scene 5:
Helena: Mother? I know it's you, I can feel it…
*After Naswen saved Helena from falling, Anastasia saw thenm and grab the key from Naswen
Anastasia: I already have the key, I won Helena and not you! I am the new queen of Lidea!
*They all came back to Lidean Queendom
*After the trial
Anastasia: You see? I already have the key everyone! I won!
Naswen: Well done, Anastasia.
*Naswven transform into her real form, everyone is shocked that it is their mother, Queen
Esmeralda
Queen Esmeralda: But, Anastasia, this isn't what the real key that Alira's talking about. Because the test you took was not the key that was mentioned, but rather a puzzle.
Queen Esmeralda: And Helena is the one who truly discovered that.
Council Alira: But, how did you discover it Princess Helena?
Helena: One thing is for sure, she did not hurt us. She knows our weaknesses. No matter what we fought against her, her love for us still prevailed and there I proved that she was our Mother.
Queen Esmeralda: Celebrate everyone because you have a new queen! The new queen of Lidea, Queen Helena!
Everyone: Long live the new queen of Lidea, Queen Helena!
*Everyone is cheering for the new queen of Lidea, Queen Helena!
Anastasia: Stop it! This is absurd! I won the test so I am the queen! You are just fooling me!
*Anastasia crying
Anastasia: Mother, why are you fooling your own child? Why don't you accept that I am the real winner over Helena?! Am I not enough? Why are you doing this?
Andrada: Anastasia! Adjust your tone! You are talking to our mother. Have some respect.
Anastasia: Shut up. You are not the one I am talking to!
Victoria: Anastasia, please calm down...
Queen Esmeralda: Anastasia, my daughter, you are more than enough-
Anastasia: Then why did she win? Why do you love them over me? What's wrong with me?
Queen Esmeralda: There's nothing wrong with you, Anastasia. It is just that Helena is the one who won and we should accept that...
Anastasia: And I am not accepting it! I will never accept that you tried to fool your own
daughter! Now, I challenge you to fight me. If I win, I will be the queen, and if you win, I will accept that Helena is the queen! Queen Esmeralda: You don't need to do this, Anastasia my daughter! Anastasia: Then why did you do this to me? Why are you fooling me? Why you prefer them over me? You just proved that you have your favorites and I am not one of them. Why Helena? Why them? What kind of mother are you?! You are so unfair, Mother! I will never forget this day. From now on, I will no longer accept you as my mother. I'm just going to leave your queendom. Get together with your favorite daughters.I don't want to see the look on your face that deceives me.
Anastasia: And Helena, I will never accept you as a queen of Lidea!
Queen Esmeralda: Anastasiaaaaa....
*Anastasia wallks out...
*Anastasia came up with an evil plan before she left Lidea
Council Alira: Queen Esmeralda, there is a problem!
Queen Esmeralda: What is it? What is happening?
Council Alira: The powerful sword of Lidea has been stolen!
Helena: I know there is one person who did this...
Andrada: I am thinking the same... but what for?I know Anastasia did this but why did she steal the sword?
Victoria: Don't came up with a conclusion yet, my siblings. Anastasia has been badly hurt for
what happened. We should understand her more. Andrada: Understand? For what she did? She has no respect towards us, and even challenged our mother, do we really need to understand her? that even at the first place, she did not know how to accept defeat and let her devoured by her own emotion...
Helena: Stop it, Andrada! We are nw in a problem. We should focus more in here.
Helena: But mother, why did she take it? Will she be using it against us?
Queen Esmeralda: I hate to think of it, I hurt her and I know she will take revenge especially you Helena. That's why get ready for a war because I am sure Anastasia team-up with our enemy which is her own father...
Helena: To be obeyed, Mother!
Queen Esmeralda: But, Helena, listen to me. The one that can change Anastasia is not the blade of your weapon but the love that we have for her. That's why, don't hurt her.
Helena: Yes, Mother. I will do everything to bring her back to us. I promise it.
*After they talked, something bad happened to the former queen Esmeralda. There's a person
who shot an arrow with a poison in it and later on the former queen died.
*They prepared a funeral for the former queen
Helena: Mother. I will do everything I can to take care of the whole Lidea. I promise that. I will be a good Queen for the future of Mysorea.
Victoria & Andrada: Thank you very much queen mothe!
*The four princesses started crying
Council Alira: Pay tribute to the former queen of Lidea!
Everyone: Many Thanks Dear Queen! Until again!
*The queen mother has been taken to the final destination
Scene 6:
*However, the Queen Mother knew that she was going to die. So she left a note to give to
Council Alira and to give to the eldest daughter, Anastasia.
*Queen Esmeralda before she died
CounciI Alira: Queen, why are you calling me in the middle of the night?
Queen Esmeralda: I know my time is now no any longer, Alira. My time has finally over. I can sense the danger around
Council Alira: Don't say such things Queen! We still need you, my dearest friend!
Queen Esmeralda: The Goddess appeared to me and warned that my timne was already near. I can't change my fate. So I called you today to give you a note, and please promise me to give it to my eldest daughter, Anastasia.
Council Alira: I promise, my dearest friend!
*Alira's Crying
*She sent it to Anastasia. She even went to the shelter of the enemy of the Fairies even though she is in danger just to give the note to Anastasia.
*And she did see there Anastasia with the enemies and her Father preparing for the uprising of war against the fairies.
Anastasia: Why are you here? You don't care about me anymore, right? so leave before I curse you with this most powerful weapon!
*Anastasia picked up the stolen weapon from the Lidea.
Council Alira: That is not my purpose why I am here. I am only here to give you the note from the Queen Mother.
Azulan (Father of Anastasia): Don't accept that. Your moher is just fooling you. They will only poison your mind again.
*Alira left
Council Alira: Shut up Azulan!
Anastasia: You two stop already! Give that note to me! And immediately get out here before I kill you with my weapon!
*The day of Queen Esmeralda death.

I remember that one calamity and its memories that is still engraved in my mind. In 2013, a super typhoon flooded the whole country. The typhoon was named as Yolanda. Back then, I was still living with my aunt, the house that they inherited from my grandparents.
At that time, the house was not in a good condition. Due to the fact that it has been standing for so many years. The wind and rain was unbelievably strong, and our fence was getting unsteady. It would sway to the direction where the wind wants it to be. It was also getting and the weather just got more worst.
It was evening then when we heard something rattling outside our house and it was indeed our fence. Its grip on its base was very loose so my aunt had to go out with a raincoat and steady it herself by holding it while I remain inside of the house. I couldn't do anything back then, I was young and didn't have that much strength.
It was not that long until the rain vanished through thin air. After that, she called my brother to help her fix our fence. It took them a long time fixing it considering that it was wet and slippery inside.
"Don't wait for a disaster to strike: Prepare now."

The old town of Santos (pt.3) Walking towards Monte Serrat (which I will show you in the next post) on the way we pass the very nicely restored Câmara Municipal de Santos (Santos City Hall) building. Walking further along you will encounter numerous shops, most of them are just the common ones with nothing special in it. My attention was drawn to the statue shop, where you can find Christian and Umbanda statues side by side (the blue figure is Orixá Iemanjá Rainha do Mar). Reaching Praça dos Andradas on the right we will have Teatro Guarany, which celebrated its 141st birthday this year. Teatro Guarany was, from the beginning, a meeting place for Santos society, especially for groups interested in culture, theater, and politics. In the middle is the beautiful historic building of the Cadeia Velha de Santos (Old Jail of Santos). The whole area is beautiful, you can sit on a bench, relax, have something to eat in the nearby pubs or just enjoy the view. I ended my tour with a visit to the 18th century church (built in 1758) Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário. A beautiful building in need of minor restoration mainly due to dampness. #brazil #brasil #brazylia #southamerica #amerykapołudniowa #latinamerica #santos #santos013 #baixadasantista #litoral #travel #trip #viagem #turismo #viajar #paisagem #podróże #podróżemałeiduże #przygoda #polacywpodróży #wycieczka #zwiedzanie #history #historia #kultura #culture #city #cidade #oldtown #staremiasto (at Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co96c9BOrw-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I was attracted to creative people. You don’t want to be the smartest person in the room; you want to be the dumbest in the room. You want to be surrounded by other thinking people who are going to say something that makes you think, “Oh, my God, that’s an amazing idea. Why didn’t I think of that.” And somehow we found each other in Manhattan. That’s the crazy thing. We found each other and we connected to each other and we moved around the city together. They supported my shows. I supported their shows. We were a unit. And I don’t even know how it happened. It just did….
They were incredibly dedicated to their work. I mean, Basquiat was my boyfriend for a while, and I remember getting up in the middle of the night and he wouldn’t be in bed lying next to me; he’d be standing, painting, at four in the morning, this close to the canvas, in a trance. I was blown away by that, that he worked when he felt moved. And they gave jobs to everyone. Keith would meet kids on the street and ask them to come stretch his canvases for him. Basquiat had every B-boy and every graffiti artist in his loft. He was constantly giving everything away. I think they felt guilty that they became successful and were surrounded by people who were penniless, so they shared what they had. They were incredibly generous people, and that rubbed off on me. You stay inspired that way.
Traduzindo( Pelo escritor)
Eles apoiaram meus shows. Eu apoiei seus shows. Nós éramos uma unidade. E eu nem sei como isso aconteceu. Simplesmente deu….

“Mom’s out on a date so we actually have this place to ourselves for once. Which means we can actually watch shit on the big TV.” A small victory but considering the alternative was the tiny tv in Alma’s room it felt like a big win. Isadora was one of the few people who Alma had ever brought over her house, always feeling like it was a bit too personal for most folks. But she and Dora had been friends for what felt like a lifetime and in a way Alma felt a bit more at home whenever her best friend was there. Almost as if they were two people sharing an apartment as opposed to a home that should have been filled with family. Still, Alma pushed all of this out of their head as they grabbed their snacks and art supplies and made their way down from their room with Isadora behind them. “Are you hungry? I went grocery shopping this morning so I can make us something if you wanted. You can pick the music to play as I cook and you watch me and shower me with compliments, obviously.”

9-year-old South Surrey entrepreneur raises money for Ukraine relief Cloverdale Reporter
Wanting to have ties to his grandparents who he could not visit in the midst of the pandemic, Lucas, 9, started making matching bracelets for each of them, which led to his own business and charity ventures. He learned how to make bracelets on his own which developed into a hobby for Lucas. Even though him and his grandparents were a province apart, the bracelets kept them close during the difficult time, said Monica Hernandez, Lucas’ mother. “When they look at the bracelet, they will think of him and when he looks at the bracelet he thinks of them,” she added. The handmade bracelets became popular among Lucas’ friends and soon many of his classmates were walking around with his bracelets wrapped around their wrists. All of the people who wanted to wear his creation sparked the imaginativeness in Lucas and he began making different bracelets for every person in his life. He comes up with the designs himself and customizes them to fit the style of each person uniquely, Hernandez said. From observing his parents involvement in business, Lucas realized that he could sell the bracelets that he was making. Another passion of the family’s is giving back to the community, so Lucas wanted to give part of the profits he earned from bracelet sales to various charities, including Terry Fox Foundation and Heart and Stroke Foundation. One day, Lucas was at his friend’s home on a play-date when news broke about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Lucas’ friend and his family were extremely affected by the news, as they are Ukrainian, Hernandez said. “They were in such an emotional state which was really hard to witness because they had relatives there who were trying to escape. Lucas had never seen something like that so he said ‘We have to do something’ so we did,” she added. Braccialetto gives a portion of its proceeds to Maple Hope Foundation, which is a Canadian organization that raises funds for Ukraine support. Lucas is also a student at Morgan Heights Kumon Centre where a stand selling his bracelets can be found. One of his teachers at Kumon, Juliet Andrada loved the initiative to raise money for Maple Hope Foundation and decided to get involved herself. Andrada will match every dollar that Lucas’ business raises for the charity. His bracelets can be purchased at a kiosk in Semiahmoo Shopping Centre located at 1701 152 St. in Surrey from May 30 to June 6. He also has a stand in the store Pearl & Clover that can be found in the mall. @SobiaMoman [email protected] Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. I was just thinking about one of the narrative choices I really enjoyed in MSec.
So, I always low-key hated that we never got a real kidnapping or assassination story line focused on Elizabeth. Who doesn’t want that angst? It’s practically a trope in this kind of show for a reason.
But it makes sense thinking about how they approached and handled her character and the fact that she was a woman in a sexist world and specifically how woman characters (even and maybe especially powerful woman characters) are usually treated in mass media in regards to their desirability/sexuality/femininity.
They didn’t take the easy route when it came to those stories. The time she’s injured worst? When she’s trying to negotiate a world-altering peace deal between sworn enemies and she happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She isn’t targeted by a crazed fan who is obsessed  with her sexually or a religious fundamentalist who hates her because she’s a woman. She’s hurt because of the nature of her position, it has nothing to do to be with being a woman/the cliched (but still real) reasons people attack women.
Even when she does actually get a stalker, the stalker largely focuses on her children. Think of other shows where the creepy pictures she got of her children would instead have been a shot of Elizabeth half dressed in her bedroom window or some other semi-sexual photo. The person hacking her? Not someone with pictures pasted in his closet of Elizabeth, but a hired hand for a businessman who targeted Elizabeth for her immense political power and bold policy ideas. He didn’t care that she was a woman, he cared that she had the President’s ear. There’s not a single sexual reference anywhere in the stalking storyline. Again, think of how many shows effectively sexualize stalking. It’s a golden opportunity for shows to allow their powerful female characters to be treated as a sexual object in a way the in-universe supposedly doesn’t allow. (It’s torture porn in a way).
The one time she is specifically attacked because she is a woman, with Andrada, she immediately gets her comeuppance (she punches him in the face) and more importantly it is treated extremely seriously by everyone around her. Every single person is aghast that this happened and wants to take major action. Not a single staff member, even a one-off stand-in for a typical asshole, suggests that she let it go/it wasn’t a big deal/he just touched her ass/get over it. Neither Russell nor Conrad suggest that she overreacted. We know how in the real world there would be more than a few people who would be like “He barely touched you, it’s the price of doing business.” And most fictional universes would have made the assault more prolonged or had the thing Elizabeth had to deal with be that nobody was taking her seriously.
The kidnapping storyline? Given to her white male chief of staff.
Of course sexism exists in this universe and there are plenty of men who treat her as a sexual object, but it’s never the focus of the story. Think of the Moldovan general  (and instead of unbuttoning her blouse to speak to him, she buttons it higher and puts on a jacket) or the press attention on her legs. Sometimes she uses her femininity/sexuality in a weaponized manner, say when she parades around in a new outfit to distract the press or jokes about flirting with the guy for the paperwork, but it’s extremely rare. In fact that off hand joke about how the guy has a crush on her and she’s not above using it stands out so much it serves more to highlight her desperation to improve things with Henry. It jars so much with how she usually acts.
When she’s President the people against her are obviously partially motivated by sexism (as we see pretty clearly laid out in the climax of that storyline and when Hanson slips and refers to her being a woman as the problem) but that’s never their outright stated purpose. The sexism is cloaked just the way it is in real life. It’s subtle and hidden, it’s never thrown in our face in that torture porny kind of way (not the best analogy, but media loves to make any kind of portrayal of sexism (or indeed racism or homo/transphobia) a huge production so it’s very very obvious).
I don’t know quite what I’m saying with all of this, I’m mostly just rambling, but fuck do I love me some Elizabeth McCord and Madam Secretary and it really shows that there were women writers and producers in charge.

I had the pleasure of sharing the [Zoom] stage this week for a Pride month event at DocuSign. It was an excellent panel in tone, in content, and in the wide range of perspectives represented! I love my work so much! One of the best things about being an #lgbtqspeaker is that I get to meet other people who are creative, engaged, caring, and brilliant at communicating their ideas.
This week we were joined by Mina Gerges, Melissa Andrada, and Robyn Ochs, for the inspiring virtual #Pride event: Celebrating Community and Empowering Activism. Through 3 unique lenses and lived experiences, our speakers shared powerful stories, tactics, and opportunities for everyone to be powerful agents of change every day, and not just in the month of June.

Have you ever heard of the Swinging Sixties? From it swinging around with the ideas that cause major shifts in the 60’s. From the Civil Rights Movement, to the Vietnam War, and to the Feminist Movement. These things change the U.S even though in the future these are still things that need to be fix. However, we going to investigate a story about a black woman, which learn the ways of being a housewife and is stuck in whether to swing or stay.
June 5,1965
Newark, New Jersey
Adeste fideles læti triumphantes,
Venite, venite in Bethlehem.
Natum videte
Regem angelorum:
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
As the congregation of the Catholic church sung with the choir. There was one pew that was in the middle that everybody knew.
Standing up while singing along, was Florian Munteanu. The man that had power in New York and New Jersey without even holding onto a political seat. As his father was the head of Munteanu’s, a famous mafia in the 20’s to now, people knew not to mess with them.
Florian’s father, Alexandru Munteanu, moved to the U.S for a better life with his wife, Ioana. With that, Alexandru was not only struggling to try and make a good life in the U.S, but he had to do something to get his wife out the slums.
So, one day, he went to a speakeasy, to get a drink, and with that he realized that he could do it too.
Alexandru started the mafia, Munteanu, to help not only himself, but the people that was in the slums with him. From Italians, to African Americans, the Irish, and many more. He realizes that it will be better to have minorities together than apart.
As the years go on, Alexandru’s mafia started to grow larger and larger. Before you knew it, he oversaw the town. Calling the shots from the Mayors, to Police chiefs, and to Wall Street. As the Great Depression hit, Alexandru help the people that help him.
With that, he moved with many of his mafia to Newark, New Jersey. As he did that, he helps the mayor and aid the homeless from the fallout of the Great Depression.  Then Alexandru got the biggest surprise of his life.
His wife gave birth to that surprise on December 4, 1937,  Florian Munteanu. Alexundru was the happiest he could be and was glad to have his first child.
As life went on, things got better for the Munteanu family. They finally got out of the apartment in Newark and move to a house. Florian was especially excited due to the new scenery and new space. However, things change after Pearl Harbor.
When the Japan bombed the Pearl Harbor, many of Alexundru’s mafia members went out to fight the war: Alexundru did the same. He was gone for year and half, until he got shot in the trenches and was paralyzed from the waist down.
Even though, Alexundru was still the same person. Always happy go lucky and giving to people.
He changed.
He did not see himself as a man no more due to his disability and it hurt his pride. However, he never let that stop from shining lights on others.
Nobody in the Munteanu Mafia or any other mafia wanted to take over due to Alexandru kind attitude and did not want to create enemies due to them wanting to have control.
As the years went on, Florian grew up and the Munteanu family was living on top of life. With Florian entering his senior year of high school. To the Ioana and Alexundru love growing even more. Everything was perfect.
 Until Ioana died unexpectedly.
Both, Florian and Alexundru, took it hard. However, Alexundru took it the hardest. After the only person that he loved died.
Alexundru died too.
Alexundru just stop talking after Iona death.
He has been muted for 10 years. He makes little gestures and noises whenever he needs something, but most of the time he is mute.
With that, Florian did not know what to do. As things was already worst, Alexundru brother, his closest ally and his only sibling, died and it left him taking care of his niece: Elena.
With life taking a toll on the Munteanu family, it was also taking a toll on the mafia. With that, Munteanu Mafia was in chaos.
As Florian saw his mom died weeks earlier to now his uncle dying: he did not know what to do. Florian knew he had to take care of his dad and of his legacy. Florian made sure of that by dropping out of high school and becoming the leader of the Munteanu Mafia.
As the song ended, Florian shut the hymn book and look to his dad. Alexundru just was looking out to space. Florian went and got the hymn book out of his dad’s lap to close it up for him. As the priest started to pray, a little voice shouted.
“ Mommy, I got to use the restroom!” Andrada yelped in the quiet church. Much of the congregation turn their head to the pew that yelped that out.
Florian look at Andrada, one of his four kids, and saw that he was starting to pull down his pants.
Shy got him before they drop down to the floor.
“Shy!” Florian quietly said with much sternness behind it. Shy, or Majorie, looked at her husband. She saw the embarrassment as he looked around to see if anybody was noticing. As Shy turn around to take Andrada to the restroom, Elena spoked up.
“ I will take him.” Elena said with kindness seeing the tense exchange between the couple. Shy tried to tell Elena it was okay, but Elena gave her look. Andrada walked over to Elena at the other end of the pew. With that, Elena and him went to the restroom.
As the priest started the sermon, Florian threw his hand behind the pew to sit closer to Shy to talked to her.
“ Now Shy, you need to teach our kids some manners. We are the family that this town looked up too and our kids are shouting out! What you think going to happen to the mafia if they see that our own kids do not have no manners! Shy…” Florian said with much anger and passion. However, Shy started to space out like she always did when mainly Florian was the only one arguing.
Majorie “Shy” Washington was born to Earl and Anna Washington in North Carliona on September 12, 1939. As she turned three, her sister Marilyn was born. Even though it was a joyous occasion, Anna died during childbirth with Marilyn.
With that, it just left Earl, Majorie, and Marilyn. As life went on, Majorie and Marilyn was Earl babies. No matter what mischief they done at the house, he always let them go off with a warning. Until one day, they went to prank one of the white women in town. As kids they really didn’t understand the concept of racism, but they knew some of the things. When they did prank this woman, she didn’t see it as kids pranking her, but as negros trying to “kill” her.
This led to a mob of white men coming to the area where all the black folks live at. They set a burning cross in the yard of Earl’s house.
That morning, Earl and many others looked at the cross in the yard. That day, he gave the girls the worst whooping of their life.
He didn’t whoop them because of what they did. He whooped them to teach them to not mess with the white people.
As he said as he was whooping the girls, “ I am not doing this because I am angry, but I am doing this because I love you.”
With that, the girls knew that something about messing with white people is never good.  After the incident, Earl decided it was time for the girls and him to move. They packed up their shed in North Carolina and moved to Harlem, New York.
When they got there, the girls were memorized by the streets and colors of the Big Apple. When finally getting to Harlem, they saw so many black folks move around so freely. Though the Great Depression was happening, FDR New Deal started to rebuild the nation.
As years went on, the girls settling into New York life.
Their father hit big.
As Earl was working for a big-time investor as a janitor, they started to develop a friendship. Earl showed him what could hit big for black folks. From different clubs, products, and much more. In 1954, the investor died due to old age and he didn’t have no wife or kids to leave his fortune.
So, he left it to Earl and the girls. Earl was happier that his daughters could go off to school, travel the world, and not have to struggle.
Earl decided to buy a whole building in Harlem and move his whole family from North Carolina and his sister’s family into the building. With this, Earl knew that the girls could keep this building in the family and make sure that they still have fortune.
Even though, Earl got a fortune and could easily pay someone to clean the large apartment. Majorie, whom is 15, was the care keeper after her sister and of the building. Majorie didn’t have the pleasure of having a kid life due to her mother not being there and her having to replace that spot for her sister.
Majorie made sure that she got rent from family, to keeping the building clean, and to making sure that her sister did good in school. Earl did not want Majorie to do all of that. He wanted her to enjoy life, but Majorie did it because she knew she had too.
Out of the blue, the phone rang. Earl answer and realize that it was from one of his good friend’s son from WWII. His mother died and he was on the list to come to pay his respects. So, the girls and him rode to Newark, New Jersy and went to the funeral.
As they paid their respects, Earl was trying to break through to his friend Alexundru. As he was doing that, Marilyn and Majorie was outside waiting. Marilyn started to talk and play with some of the neighborhood girls, while Majorie stood and looked around.
As Majorie looked up to see who was coming out of the church doors. She saw a group of boys and one stood out to her. He was the leader obviously due to him being in the front and the guys surrounding. His face looked like it was chiseled by Michael Angelo himself. From his hair being low cut, which was unusual due to every man wanting to have the slick back hair.
As Majorie was looking at him, one of the boys saw her. He nudged Florian and point towards Majorie. Florian looked at the girl and was in awe.
From looking at her press out hair that met her shoulders. To her black dress reaching her knees that squeeze every single curve on her body.
Florian realized that something started to feel weird downstairs. Even though he had many of girls, he never had felt like that about a girl straight away. Florian broke through the guys and walked over to Majorie.
Majorie snapped out of it when she realized he was in front of her. She quickly looked down than rather meet them piercing eyes.
“ My name is Florian. What’s yours?” Florian asked her while looking at her. Majorie kept her head down and stay like that. Florian didn’t know what to do and he was kinda shock.
“ So I guess I call you Shy.” Florian laughed out when finishing up.
Earl came out the church seeing Florian and Majorie. Earl made it known that he was there by coughing. Majorie looked up quickly and ran over to her dad while being thankful he came out when he did.
“Well Florian, your dad is a tough cookie. I tried to get him to talk, but he still not talking.” Earl walked over to Florian while giving his hand a shake. Florian shooked his head and understanding Earl, who kept talking, but Florian was looking at Majorie behind him.
Earl notice the young boy eyes on his daughter. Earl was happy that Majorie got attention from a boy because she is always to herself and have not experience the regular teenage life.
“ Florian, bring my baby girl back home by 7:00.” Earl said with his deep baritone voice while walking away from the two. Majorie was in shocked and ran after her dad.
“ Daddy, I don’t even know him! Plus I got to clean the house, finish cooking for tomorrow, and help Marilyn with her homework.” Majorie squeaky, high pitched voice capture her dad attention. With Earl getting to the car, and Marilyn running back over, he turn around to his daughter.
“ Baby, you need to experience life. I love that you step in place for your mother, but you are a teenager! Florian is a nice young man and he can keep you safe.” Earl stated to his daughter. Earl got in the car and Marilyn got in the back.
Majorie watch as they left her.
She turn around with Florian right behind her.
With that, Florian and Majorie went one the local cafes in Newark. As they was walking around, it seem like everybody knew who Florian was. As they went to the diner and ate. Majorie didn’t say one thing at all.
As he was taking her home, Majorie still didn’t say nothing. When he stop in front of her building, he walked her up the stoop.
“Well I had a fun time. Even though I did most of the talking.” Florian chuckled with his gruff voice. Florian looked at Majorie and saw that she kept her head down. Florian lift her head to look at him.
With that, Florian went in for a kiss, which Majorie did not stop.
“ Umm, Majorie I know you are not being a fast tell out here! Plus your father should be down here any second!” Aunt Shirley smiled while yelling out the third-floor window, looking down at her niece. Majorie quickly step back, with Florian laughing at the woman above.
Then, the door of the building quickly open to Earl and Marilyn. Earl smiled at his daughter and step out to wave his sister back in.
Majorie quickly ran inside to the top floor of the building.
“ Well, I guess that means either Majorie is embarrassed or you done something to her son.” Earl said while looking at Florian.
“ No sir, I have not! I really want to court Shy!” Florian blurted out the last part. Marilyn laughed at the boy standing in front of her.
“ Shy, that is a good nickname! She probably will never say anything to you!” Marilyn said with a sassy tone. Earl gave a look at Marilyn, which means it is time for her to go. Earl looked at Florian, whom was a mess due to him blurting out that he wants to court Majorie.
“ Well, just called the house phone everyday at 9:00 in the morning. You can speak Majorie then due to her being the only one at home. With that, son, if you ever hurt my daughter. I don’t mine breaking your face in even if you are white.” Earl finished with the threat.
Earl shut the door leaving Florian for his own thoughts.
One thing, Earl and Florian, didn’t know was that Marjorie was looking out the window at the conversation. She smile at the fact that Florian wanted to court her. She went back inside waiting for the next morning at 9:00 for that call.
That day, Florian didn’t just lose his mother, but he got his girl.
“ Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!” Florian Jr yelped to his mother. Shy snapped out of her thoughts. She realized that everybody was starting to leave church. Shy looks to her left to see Florian getting his father to go outside in the summer heat.
Shy got up and picked up Benjamin, 2, who was sleep, and picked up her purse. Anastasia and Florian Jr, 8, held hands with Andrada, 4, to make sure they stick together.
“Do you need any help Shy?” Elena asked with her nasal voice. Before Shy could even answered, Florian answered.
“ Shy got it.” Florian toneless voice said while starting to push his father out of the church. Shy knew that Florian was upset with her, and she knew that this was going to be an all day thing.
“ Okay kids, lets go.” Shy quietly said to the kids. They walked behind Florian and his father, with Elena right behind them.
Elena looked at Shy and just felt bad for her. It seems like after Benajamin was born, Florian and Shy’s relationship is just not the same.
As they walked out the church doors, Elena heard many things being said about the couple.
“ Florian only married her because he got her pregnant out of wed locked.”
“ He always disrespect her whenever that girl comes around.”
“ I just don’t understand why people want to now marry outside their race.”
Elena knew if she could hear them, Shy could too.
As they got to the bottom of the steps, she saw the red Ford Mustang.
Tumblr media
Everybody knew exactly who that was. The Ford Mustang park on the other side of the rode. With that, a tall woman got out of the car. She started to walked over with her high heels and went straight up to Florian.
Shy saw as she walked with confidence and style over to her husband. Shy wished she did have the confidence she had.
Shy walked closer to the two of them to see what is about to happen.
“ Florian, I really need you to come help me with something.” Anna- Marie said with much sweetness behind her voice. Anna-Marie you could describe as the It girl of the decade. Anna Marie knew that she was beautiful and she use it for her benefits.
Florian felt eyes on him and saw his wife looking at the two of them. Anna-Marie smiled turn straight into a frown when seeing Shy. Anna-Marie wanted Florian since childhood. The only person that ruin it was Shy.
“Oh, Shy, I didn’t see you there! Kinda look like the maid with the kids.” Anna-Marie said loud enough to capture other people attention.
“ Now, you little rat, don’t be coming around here being an attention whore. The last time I remember you was a night walker!” Elena said even louder.
Anna-Marie laughed at Elena.
“ Well honey, I still hear that nasally voice. Still haven’t got it fix after your husband punch you.” Anna-Marie said with much fake sadness in her voice.
Anna-Marie turn back to Florian and said, “ Well, I see that you are busy. Come by tonight.” With that, Anna-Marie touched Florian arm and went back to her car.
Florian looked at the woman, and lust after her. Even though, she tried many of times with her forward advances. Florian would never take the forward advances with her because he loves his wife. However, Florian was lusting after the woman in front of him.
Shy looked at Florian as he looked at her. She saw that he was looking at her with the same eyes he  use to looked at her with.
“Mommy, why are you crying?” Anastasia said with her quietly, squeak voice. With that, Elena and Florian looked at her. Shy shook her head and started to push the children to walk down the sidewalk to the house.
Elena looked at her cousin and shooked her head as she followed Shy and the kids. With that, Florian followed right behind them.

44: Escapism When Everything is Political
CW: Suicide, Homophobia, Misogyny, Queerphobia
Festus has got the talent to talk about serious issues without ever losing the smile on his face. After his political awakening he had to reflect on his life so far and reconsider every bit of media he consumed. Movies, music, tv shows, everything faced a higher standard. Whether we like it or not, everything is political, and we should treat it as such. However, when everything has such a heavy weight, it is important to keep a safe space where you can drop it all and just have a rest.
Enter Q initiative. Although it originally started as a way for activists to fight for rights and legal issues, Festus is considering taking it more towards a safe space for queer people. In different local communities Q is an environment where queer folks in rural Kenya can be creative and me themselves. Potentially they might accidentally create a local scene of indie musicians in the process.
