season 1 summary: may 2024

i've hit 30 situations! this summary is mainly for my personal documentation (i like documenting stuff), but i thought i'd post this in the blog too just in case anyone else was interested!

STATISTICS

to the surprise of absolutely no one, whit got first place, appearing eight times throughout may 2024! however, his first place is because of a technicality, since i counted the pinned post for this season. otherwise he'd tie with second place and our recently crowned "invasive species", arei, who appeared seven times. i know i encouraged you people to let her commit crimes, but it appears i have underestimated the fandom because there's STILL people telling her to steal even MORE stuff in the inbox. third place is charles, appearing five times, three of which happened in the span of five days. bullying him (and making arei and whit bully him) is really fun though!

also, i think now is a good time to talk about how i "plan" out the situations. i try to draw at least one situation a day as a "warmup" before i draw... Other Stuff, and i try to stock up at least a week's worth of doodles, just in case i become unavailable for whatever reason. i also try my Absolute Best to ensure that everyone* appears at least twice a month, whether by picking requests wildly out of order or taking matters to my own hands through the original situations, though a bias for whit really can't be avoided...

*mai and monotv are excluded from this "rule", though i bring out monotv often when i need a casualty. take arei and whit stacking things and arei and j playing mario kart, for example!

PERSONAL FAVORITES (in chronological order)

1) Motivational words from Min

I still consider this one of my greatest creations in my mortal life. maybe i should reblog this on main everytime i procrastinate on something. i'm sure there will be always someone who needs the encouragement

2) Charles holds Eden's yuri manga hostage

this headcanon sucker punched me on what was a normal afternoon, but i'm glad i realized it to this world... even though i barely read new stuff in the first place, let alone yuri. maybe one day i'll find something that caters to my oddly specific tastes, but for now i'll enjoy the yaoi vs yuri memes from afar and let those more qualified than me to verify how true himejoshi eden and himedanshi charles are

3) A regular "PMD Club" meeting

i am an autotroph and need to create one oddly specific self-indulgent situation per month to sustain myself and the joy i have for drawing. i promise this Will happen again. i might even outright sneak in some of my aus, out of context...!

4) Arei steals Charles' goggles

it really says a lot about me as a person that my personal favorites are mostly unserious shitposts, but i've been meaning to draw arei bullying charles with the nerd emoji since... a few months ago, i think? some of the situations are prompts i've always wanted to draw, but am too lazy to do in my "proper" style

THE POWER OF HINDSIGHT

sometimes i think of adding punchlines in the situations, or fix errors after i've put them in the queue, but forget to actually. do them.

after arei stole david's hairclips, emovid's debut would've been something along the lines of arei freeing him from his stage persona by taking away his hairclips. but i forgor.

monotv's body had the wrong colors this one time, but i have since decided that arei got paid by the real monotv to murder a bootleg / defect monotv

as i've mentioned in the tags, teruko on a llama at the machu picchu was supposed to be posted in ace yaps and levi listens' place, but i did an Oopsie and forgot to adjust the queue properly. out of the ~10 posts i had queued up that time, i got insanely lucky that the teruko doodle was the one that got delayed, since i forgot to draw her bandage. ultimate lucky student moment

also as i've mentioned in the tags, if my wii was still working i would've attempted to recreate an actual screenshot of j and arei playing mario kart wii

arei would've have had more time to steal even more things before i put her in jail, but i decided to give her a break this month. i assure you, she will return with a Vengeance.

OTHER REMARKS

i've gotten so, so used to drawing whit and arei. i haven't quite gotten the hang of everyone else yet, though i can draw xander, eden, and charles pretty consistently. hardest to draw is hu, but that's mainly because i can't draw straight hair

i kinda wanna add a subtle pattern to the background…? even just a grid would be fine. also thinking of changing the background color every now and then

i'd like to make an animation one day. it's definitely going to be a shitpost and a very unserious situation, but i'd like to make an animation one day

i expected struggling to catch up with requests, but i genuinely didn't expect about two new requests a day?? i really thought i had to pad out the days with more of my original situations, but i'm actually glad i have such a big selection of requests with a decent variety. Aside from arei's many, many crimes.

if you're still here... thank you so, so much! for reading until the end and entertaining my side project! i've never been a particularly "active" artist and tend to lurk more often than not, but seeing the same people regularly come and leave little comments in their reblogs does something to my heart that i didn't think could ever happen. even seeing new people excites me, because i think this is the smallest fandom i've ever been in? i hope i can keep this blog going…!

Well there's this au inspired by cupid and psyche I dumped in the tags of this post about wren being some cupid figure + fallen angel of sorts and kiawe's form is part fire and they fall in love even though circumstances rlly don't favour them to be together or something

A few times I've thought of a prince x knight au where wren is the prince and Kiawe is the knight becuz the latter is very hardworking Buuut I do not want to be royalty nor deserve to be or see myself in that role in an AU and I would rather dedicate myself to Kiawe as a knight does Buuuttt I also don't see myself as a knight becuz im lazy as hell and have no athletic stamina So.

Also an au where Kiawe is a vampire hehegheurgrjtjgkhh and wren woukd be like Haha you want to suck my blood So bad and kiawe's like no Actually i don't need to we have ethical reliable means of getting blood routinely.. But if he doesn't then well I am right Here

💚/Green: Does your f/o get jealous? How do they cope with it?

I think emotion wise he can be the type to feel jealousy but logic wise he's trusting of his partner and we communicate so he wouldn't find much reason to... Um to answer the question i think when kiawren is still pining then yeah, I think wren hangs out with Ilima becuz he helps wren with academia and research and the places to do fieldwork in alola cuz I think he's done research to write his own papers as well idk I forgor what's Ilima's academic qualifications that's what I have for now, then yeah kiawe gets jealous but when they're already dating then not really.. How he copes with it... Just seethes in secret or asks wren why he needs to spend time with Ilima so much (but trying to be subtle about it he will not say he's jealous or anything at all) but he will understand cuz wren has said it themself that he prefers spending time with Kiawe the most and everyday will still find time to do so, so honestly kiawe doesn't need to worry about wren avoiding him or spending less time with him or anything, if anything he shoukd be asking why the hell wren wants to meet him every single day

💜/Purple: What would your f/o do if you got into a argument? Would they eventually apologize?

Well they don't rlly get into arguments cuz they can communicate and wren is chill and would avoid conflicts. Though, they really do have parts of their characters that really do conflict. Like wren being too passive and slothful regarding their commitments while kiawe is actively working hard every day, maybe one day he might really try to sternly tell wren to get their stuff together if they really want to reach their ambitions instead of dreaming all day, but then again whatever kiawe says abour wren's flaws will be valid as hell becuz his criticisms are not petty but actually genuine so honestly wren woukd be like damn yah ok you make sense and they won't argue or anything.

Alsoooo... Okay yeah this one could be realistic too — kiawe gets reallty worried about not getting into his dream school to study dance abroad, and wren assures him by saying don't worry you've did what you can and just don't think about it if it's out of your control basically stuff that kinda brushes off the problem and encourages him to relax instead (becuz wren isn't confrontational about their own problems, this is true for me irl), and kiawe gets annoyed and says you always say that and you never do anything tangible to try and succeed and I'm actually worried and kinda scared about my future and want to take real steps to make me more assured but you're just saying words to make me feel better. Okay becuz this is what I always say to my sister and she's just kinda tired of me saying "it's past 9pm don't think about it" cuz that mindset doesn't work for everyone and for Kiawe I think he believes in the work he puts in helping him reach the outcome instead of just luck or pure optimism, so yeah wren probbaly says okay what do you want me to do, youve literally put in all the work you can and I see it and I think it's more than good enough and reallt reflects your genuine passion so what can I do if you dotn get accepted or if it's deemed not enough.

Um yeah for apologies.... Kiawe apologises first, I don't really apologise instead I just wsnt to move past the argument and pretend everything is fine and interact normally after... I just find it awkward to communicate it out even though inside I'm genuinely sorry and can objectively think it through in my head to see I'm wrong, but still Kiawe will apologise first becuz he cares about all his loved ones and won't let one-upping each other in arguments be worth the time we spend brooding in silence. And once Kiawe apologises wren will apologise too and everything will be okay and they try to talk things out 😁

1. how many works do you have on ao3?

At the moment of writing this post, 253!

2. what’s your total ao3 word count?

I just broke 700k with my last fic :3c

3. what fandoms do you write for?

Whichever one I'm obsessed with at the moment xD Currently, I am thoroughly within One Piece's grip. Before that, there was BNHA, but I have written for a couple other fandoms in far smaller quantities before.

4. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

I used to! But it became overwhelming fairly soon. Moreover, a lot of the comments I get are simple emojis or "this was cute!" and while i do appreciate them - of course i do! it always brightens my day to see them! - i find myself at a loss as to how to respond. I don't like seeing a chain of my own "thank you!" comments responding in the same way to everyone, and it feels like i'm cheating somehow, like i'm artificially inflating my comments count ajsdhkajh So nowdays I usually only respond if someone asks a question or says something that I feel I can respond to with something more substantial than just a "thank you <3"

5. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge (unless I am forgetting, which is also possible lol)

6. have you ever co-written a fic before?

Oh, yes, plenty! Lemme dig up the receipts. Most notably there was a ton of fic telephones in Fic Fight '22 which I'm still not certain if I've got all of them jotted down xD

Then there was that one Stain & Aizawa & Izuku & Katsuki longfic we had started with (listing in the order on our tracking spreadsheet) Addri, myself, LadyE, Blanc, Sophy, Ryuka and Kooky! We initially started it as a November NaNoWriMo challenge back in 2022 (inspired by the joint Whumptober completionist thing NWA did) and we've got up to 40k before life had caught up xD

OH and of course the NWA Two Perspectives in Feb 2023, where both Brinn and I wrote 11k of the same EraserMic fic (fic 1)(fic 2) each in one person's POV, it was a lot of fun!

Other then those, there might have been instances of me co-writing with someone, but I do not recall them! (my memory is a sieve, if you wrote a fic with me and i forgor pls don't take it personally :crypuddle:)

7. what’s your all-time favourite ship?

There isn't one! I am a notorious multishipper, and I'll ship anything that moves in the vicinity of my current blorbo (cough cough Sabo the Revolutionary and April O'Neil being the. current victim of that)

The ranking of my fav ships switches pretty much hourly, with individual blorbos taking a longer time (it's been a mix of Sabo, Ace, Luffy and Law in any order for the past half a year or so) and fandoms being the slowest to rollover (BNHA to OP pipeline across 4 years)

8. what are your writing strengths?

I've been told I'm a speed demon xD You Are Loved (13k) got written over the first four days since my joining of MDL. I prefer to go all-in on a fic idea the moment I think of it!

9. what are your writing weaknesses?

If I let a story idea stagnate, I'll have to wait until I'm in the mood for that particular fic to write it again, and it could take months. I write fast, sure, but it doesn't exactly work if I have no words to put down on the page xD My writing is very motivation-based, which sucks for any kind of a schedule but alas, I deal with it

10. first fandom you wrote for?

Hmm I believe that'd be Danny Phantom! I've written entries for Phannymay back in 2017, but I have since moved those to an alt AO3 account due to the fact that I barely knew english at the time and didn't want those on my record xD

Summary: A stolen moment at the edge of a Citadel party.

Notes: a college professor who taught one of my poetry (writing) classes pointed out that i tended to describe things reductively, by describing them by dint of What They Aren't. This fic kinda follows that vibe. also i didn't intend for this fic to lead to the... exact place where it does, but these things get away from me! some things insist on themselves.

The dancers still their skirts as the music ends, smiling their goodbyes through the lingering scent of fried festival food, the leftover smoke from the fireworks streaking the sky above, and no one notices the absence of one knight and his date as the party ends.

No one notices another subtle twinkling song underneath the windchimes placed around the square, or the curtain behind the stage drifting lazily in a sudden breeze as the man on the horse entreats the musicians for just one more song. One more sweet slow dance, he says with a wink. For the romantics.

The conspicuously loud handful of coin landing in the musician's basket at the edge of the stage might have something to do with the way they smile, then, and take up their instruments again for the few remaining revelers.

Beneath the rekindled music, no one hears the newly arrived figure behind the stage murmur I don't know why I always let you talk me into things like this, though one or two might have keen enough ears to hear the answering shock of laughter. No one can see behind the stage, either, not with the way the man on the horse and his brother have taken inconspicuous positions at either side, looking for all the world as if they are merely enjoying the performance.

No one else sees the way the three dance, so hidden.

No one sees the way they hold each other, clinging tight not in fear of separation, but in the simple joy of closeness. Their feet barely move, but that isn't the point. His nose tucked in the crook of her neck, her hand caressing the nape of his neck, the small of his back, his damp, unsteady smile. The together-twining is the point. The love is the point, not the risk.

The music eases slowly towards its ending, inevitable as the passing of a storm, and the hidden dancers ease gently out of the tightness of their embrace.

The shorter two share a glance, a silent question and its answer, and then they turn back towards their third. In gentle murmurs not meant for any other ears, the poet speaks his heart, and when emotion overwhelms his tongue, when breath falters, the doctor cuts through to the heart of the matter, and hand in hand-

Together, they kneel, faces and palms upturned.

The monster in the shadows stares, frozen, for an endless breath. The breath cracks through, a shocked laugh bold enough to turn a dancer's head, but still no one sees them as the monster gives his own wordless answer, falling to his own knees to meet them.

An echo-embrace, a motionless dance, tears brushed aside above smiling kisses, and beneath the last smattering of applause, answering magic song goes unheard, as joyful vines and melodies carry them back towards their home.

Their sentinels grin and laugh and perhaps brush their own cheeks in subtle cover of dark, and the rider throws another coin to the band for good measure.

A missed moment, promise of lifetimes insinuated beneath more frivolous festivities, unknown to all except to those for whom it means everything.

The most dangerous thing that any of them have ever done is loved each other. True, that might be true, but it isn't the point.

The point, as ever, is the love.
