just rotating in my mind the concepts of names and identity with beetle and marwick. you guys have no idea how insane i can get about this and when i can actually put together a coherent analysis. Then You'll See <3

#it's about birth names being awkward burdens #it's about wanting belonging and comfort and tying urself to ur family #while still making ur own individual identity #it's about marwick always being referred to by monikers but then #when he finally learns his birth name it no longer sits correctly in his bones #it's about how if he had been kept and raised Mandy Marwick he would have had no problem with it #even if it was a little silly #like how beetle is saddled with a silly name based on a mistake #but he doesn't show chagrin for it he embraces it that's Him #because he was allowed to be raised by his mother #his name inherently ties him to his father's death #whereas with marwick. he takes tbe surname but leaves 'mandy' behind #his parents are dead and in a way mandy marwick died the day he was abducted #idk there is just so Something here #marwick never even tried to pick a different name!! he was numbers he was 'wolf boy'#he accepted his lack of identity AS an identity #there is just so much here 4 me and one day i will be coherent about it #mod post #Marwick #Beetle
