new joe podcast just dropped, so here are some fun tidbits. as always i recommend listening for urself but if you dont have the time heres the highlights reel:
it wasnt hard for joe to be honest in writing the book, cause he describes himself as having "no filter" lol
the hosts asked if he talked to scott ian about the....Moment in the book before it was released (i won't spoil it for those who haven't read it; if you have, you probably know the one) and joe says he did not because "guys are GREAT at emotions."
they did talk about it after scott texted him about it. and sent joe a picture of him on a red carpet with a monkey on his back and joe could not tell if he was being serious dlkfldjflkd
the hosts compliment joe on his hair. joe says he's not likely to go bald so that's nice. he says one of his kids likes to put bows in his hair <3
predictably he's asked if fall out boy have anything in the works currently, to which joe replies, "we're always passing stuff around...like illnesses. but also creative stuff. we're not working on anything specific, we're just - everybody is in family mode or if they have other projects outside of the band they're focusing on that."
"but we will get the literal band back together. i'm sure we'll do more next year. probably not a lot this year."
the hosts ask what the rest of the band thought about the book. joe says they got an early manuscript and he got a bunch of thumbs up emojis in response. he says "one of the members" definitely read some or most of the manuscript, maybe all of it, but he doesn't know about the others (he does not name any names lol)
"i'm not trying to besmirch albums of the past. i love a lot of the stuff that we did after our hiatus, i love the experimentation, the ways in which we used sampling, and co-writes brought out interesting stuff that would've never come out otherwise. and we've had additional hit songs because of that and it's prolonged our career, so no, i'm very happy with all of that."
it'd be fun to "go back to basics, but not in a basic way." if they do a guitar album again he doesn't just wanna do cork tree but more of it. he said that one album represents a moment in time that's since passed.
the hosts asked what his wife thought of the book. he said that she said "it's great!" and didn't clarify. (she DID like it, he just had to get details from a mutual friend lmao)
"the axe" (six-issue comic series he wrote with brian posehn for heavy metal comics) WILL be getting a trade paperback version with all six issues, and he said it'll come either late this year or early next year!
he is also working on something for image comics and is currently developing a show for a network, but isn't sure where that's going to go. he basically always has a lot of things going on at once.
overall he's pleased with the response to the book. it has been an exposing experience and he instinctively wants to shy away but he hasn't gotten a bunch of hate for it. he's happy if anyone liked it!

I’m so tired of wlw background ships in mlm fandoms.
mlm shippers almost never develop wlw ships to the degree that the audience feels invested in them. The conflict and character development and love story rely on tropes rather than actual narratives, yet fandoms act like they’re doing wlws a favour by shoehorning in this shitty “representation” when it’s just golden retriever x black cat over and over and over again in different fonts.
To be clear I don’t blame anyone for not having big wlw ships, because most major media out there do not have two fully fledged female characters you can ship together. If you want to write mlm ships, good for you! If you want a lazy wlw ship in the background, that’s fine! But don’t act as if the fandom actually cares about them, or that anyone did the legwork to make them characters that you can care about. Most of these female characters are never properly developed in the canon source material, and they’re almost never properly developed in the fanon material either. You can always tell by how these women are like, one archetype + gay (sporty gay, feisty gay, slutty gay etc, like some kind of gay Spice Girls). Yet fandoms just love to act like these background wlws mean so much & have the best love stories & everyone just should ship them. It’s all so performative.
wlws are not an aesthetic. wlws are not 2D happy couples to round out your queer utopia, a queer utopia that somehow still manages to foreground men. Women are always treated as 2D characters in narratives, except now there’s a subgenre where these 2D women are gay. Groundbreaking.

Man, everyone is always talking about how Kabru is wearing eye makeup, but you guys understand that he is just naturally heart-stoppingly gorgeous right? He's probably not wearing any makeup, he's South Asian and he has naturally long, dark lashes, and a delicate, feminine face. He's a beautiful man! He'd look radiant even naked and covered in mud.
He's the type of beautiful that people write poetry about and start wars over!
This is just canon. It's shown and told to us multiple times and ways. People see him and swoon on sight, even when he's barely trying. Even when he's dirty and tired, even when they are hardened warriors and spies. And it's implied that he can and does do this sort of thing regularly... He has a whole flock of women that he's charmed.
And it's not like Dungeon Meshi has sameface syndrome. There's plenty of other men that don't look like Kabru. Kabru's meant to be very, very beautiful.
AND on top of that, he's also insanely charismatic and genuinely good at reading people, figuring out what they want, and finding ways to give it to them that makes them like and trust him. He manages to do it within minutes of meeting Daya's hostile, jealous fiancee.
He's a Cleopatra, an Alexander the Great, a Caesar. If he was in a war he'd go out with 10 soldiers and come back with 20 because he convinced the enemy to defect and join his mission.
He's not perfect but he's damn close. His biggest flaw, Kui explicitly tells us, is not having enough experience, and specifically not knowing enough about monsters. The first will naturally be fixed as time passes, and the second.... well, it isn't a problem as long as he's not in a dungeon, which is 99% of his life....

talking to dagny about superpowers the other day and it sounds like even Worm didn’t really tackle the thing that I always find a hard sell about the sorts of powers where the logic is like ‘this person can fight real good because they’re able to calculate everything super fast so they know exactly what actions they need to take and when to dodge and so on’:
namely, that as someone who has spent time practising movement disciplines, i can tell you it’s perfectly possible to know exactly what you need to do and still fuck up the physical execution.
think about like. one physical skill people always like to claim is ‘really’ physics is catching a ball, because there’s like an equation or whatever that will tell you where the ball is going to fall. but anyone who’s played a sport has surely had the experience of knowing exactly where the ball was headed, and just not being able to get to it in time.
unless you have a secret second superpower that gives you inhuman physical reaction times and peak physical fitness and have spent a lot of time practicing acrobatics? kinda feel like you should have a perfect vision of the set of movements you need to complete to dodge the incoming fire while moving quickly into cover, faceplant on the second backflip and eat bullets.

SafehouseSS2 Day 4: Send-off for P'Krist ♡
Book: Thank you for everything you've taught me. Let me say this. P'Krist is a very lovely person. Before this, I'd never met P'Krist. I was worried that you'd be hard to talk to, but ever since we met- (everyone remarking that Book was kneeling so respectfully, as if Krist were an elderly person) No, I really respect him. P'Krist has taught me a lot of things, both during the live and off-cam. Thank you so much. Thank you, really.
JJ: I want to really thank P'Krist. Before coming to SafeHouse and meeting you, I was nervous, because we have an age gap, and I see you as a seniour. I was afraid of coming off as disrespectful. But now? (Krist: Not anymore? *laughs*) No, you're still my seniour, a beloved seniour, just like P'Off. At first I thought P'Off would be more chaotic, but later on, phi... you are just as chaotic. The exact same. Scarier even. (...) Now, I'd like to... Please raise your arms. *proceeds to put garlands on both of Krist's arms*
Force: I've got to say, we'd never talked to each other, nor met each other before. We just got to know each other here. The first day, I was still a little nervous, didn't know how to talk to you. But now, we've become close. P'Krist is a very lovely big brother, who always gives me support. Anyways, let's meet each other again back in Bangkok. (...) He's a wonderful and cute big brother. Love love krub.
AJ: Let me first say, P'Krist is "my bro," even though we weren't that close before we went to SafeHouse. Now, we are very close. Like I said, we didn't get to see each other often, right phi? We didn't talk much, only simply greeted each other. But since meeting P'Krist in SafeHouse... Like, I knew you are a cute person, but now I've found that you're even cuter than expected. Much much cuter. Just really, really lovely. (...) I want to say thank you so much, P'Krist, for many things. For teaching us, for taking care of us kids. Thank you so much.
Drake: Honestly, I've known P'Krist for a long time. P'Krist took care of me a lot, as I'm from Chiangmai, when I first arrived I didn't know the area well. He always gives me help and advice on my acting and my growing journey. Thank you so much, phi. (...) Today is my first day, I only get to see you for one day. I'm secretly sad, I want you to stay for longer. Actually, you can just keep staying here, phi. (Krist: Honestly I want to stay too *pretends to squeeze out some tears*)
Ohm: At first, I thought when I came today you'd already left, and I wouldn't get to see you. But I got to at least see you for one day, I'm very glad. (Krist: Right, we got to see each other recently, filming a lakorn.) That wasn't recent! It was a while ago. When we filmed An Eye for An Eye, I got to meet you and get to know you. We got close, but we didn't get to know each other that much because we didn't spend that much time together, and we filmed separate scenes. But now, we finally meet for real. This garland is to thank you. (...) This other garland is to ask you for forgiveness, for the times that I might've played around and gone too far. Because still, I'm the younger one and you're the older one. (...) Love you, phi. Let's meet when we have the chance.
Nanon: Let's say, we've known each other for a long time, we've gotten so close, ever since I first joined the agency. (Krist: You're my first nong in the agency.) Right, and we became close. At first, we may have not contacted each other much, also I was still a student back then. Once I went to university, we got to see each other more often and became much closer. Thank you for everything you've taught and advised me, for always giving me support. Love you always. If I didn't love you, I wouldn't be giving you this many garlands. (Krist: That's right. You can love me a little less, it's fine~ I'm kidding, kidding.) Hey, I love you to death. Our condos are even near each other, wow~ We can meet each other easily. (Krist: I've picked you up before~) Yeah, he once called me "Hey, let's go out and eat!" - "Phi, it's 9pm now." - "I'll call a grab for you. Just come." And so I just came. Ah, here you go, I love you.
Mike: Frankly, I'll probably feel lonely, a little bit, but I believe that with the kids here I won't be lonely. (Krist: Right, they love you to death.) So you don't need to worry about me. Well... I don't know what to say! We understand each other already. Honestly, the only thing I want to say is, you're a very talented person. I've seen Krist since that first impression, the day he went "Hey friends, can I join your group?", when we first met at the freshmen welcoming event. (Krist: We've been friends since our first year at uni.) Until now. He's grown up a lot, and has gone through many things. There. I don't know what else to say, we talk and see each other all the time! Ah, I love you~

went to buy some tea and a new stash of teabags and the lace where i usually buy them didn't have the ones i usually take. and the guy at the counter said "yeah we decided to remove those ones from our selection" so i was like, ok i guess i'll have o try one the other ones ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and picked one that seemed the closest to the ones i previously used
anyway when i got home and made some tea it was a bit weird at first try, but it seemed like it was gonna work. then as i was about to throw the bag away i was like, is this the same material as the previous ones? because i chose those specifically because i checked that they're biodegradable (an unexpectedly difficult thing to do). and it seemed like it was the same material, but well, better check
and as it turns out, it's not and now none of the teabags they offer are biodegradable. so that was a scam
