Got more behind the scenes stuff from trying to get the screenshots needed for Petal Community.

Oh. And while I was getting Dawn and Bubbles set up for part 6, I got this notification. I remember making Mist and Berry mate so they are seen as mates in game instead of Berry getting randomly paired with Sunshower’s mom, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t select the options with the chance of pregnancy. Oh well. Guess Bubbles is gonna be a big sister already.

Oh look... this glitch again...

And of course, right as I’m finishing Bubbles and Dawn’s ceremony, I get reminded about that failed attempt to remake A Forest of Tales before I actually started calling it that, and before I tried to write the AFoT prequel series.

One day, maybe I’ll get the inspiration to return to that series. For now, maybe the AFoT cats will make cameos at some point. Would you guys enjoy that?

Story:  

Darkbrush had never planned to break the warrior code, but as he watched the young she-cat dash across the clearing, his heart fluttered, and he felt junebugs fly in his stomach. 

He couldn’t take it anymore. He confessed. They both knew it was against the code, but neither cared as they embraced each other.

All was well, but as the moons went on, there were many hardships and Darkbrush grew stressed. His mate tried to check in on him, but often times he brushed her off. Eventually everything had piled up, and Darkbrush snapped at her, clawed her ear, and left it bleeding. He had snapped out of it quickly and apologized and cleaned to cut. She forgave him, but it only got worse from then on.

Anytime his mate pushed him a bit too far, he would smack her in the back of the head, or he would claw at her ear. He made sure that he never hurt her too much, but the damage was done.

All of his unjustified treatment of her accumulated when she had her kits. She struggled through the kitting, and shortly, after she perished. Darkbrush only watched as the life left her eyes and she went limp. He cleaned his kits, and put on a remorseful face as he told everyone what had happened.

He had taken on an apprentice shortly after, and whilst the apprentice learned fast, it was never enough for Darkbrush. He spat cruel words at his apprentice and rarely noticed his achievements. It was only shortly after Whitepaw had become an apprentice, that his own apprentice had received his medicine cat name.

With a fellow medicine cat to help within the camp, Darkbrush sought out a new mate, an older tom who was rather timid. 

Darkbrush spent almost all of his free-time with this tom, feeding him compliments and praise. Eventually the tom confessed his love for Darkbrush, and Darkbrush accepted. But as he nuzzled his new mate, his fellow medicine cat watched from the bracken, shocked and appalled by Darkbrush’s disregard for the warrior code.

Darkbrush set off to collect herbs one day, and whilst he was unaware, a fox snuck up on him. 

The fox pounced, and Darkbrush hadn’t anytime to react before the fox tore into his side, ripping away his pelt to reveal his ribs and organs. As the fox feasted upon his flesh, Darkbrush wondered if what he did in life was worth it.

Guess who was working on Tales Before Birch and realized she made every mackerel tabby actually a classic tabby and is trying to map out genetics to make drawing family trees easier?

Also, fun fact: tomorrow is my birthday. I have a post planned for tomorrow, but there's no guarantee I'll actually finish the planned post. So, if nothing posts tomorrow, it's because drawing is difficult and I got busy with all the projects currently at hand.

Also, a few updates: -----Thank you to everyone who voted in the Starclan polls, I will be working on that situation once I have plenty of posts queued up again. -----Pretty Petals will return after the current moon of Tales Before Birch is written and queued up, I try to do stories on rotation in attempts to avoid dropping the series. -----As much as I enjoy the wacky genetics of the Sims 3, I will once again be mapping out genetics for how each cat looks. You can thank my genetics hyperfixation and Whiteear's nightmare of a family(genetics-wise, seriously she has 2 tortie sons and a black and white daughter, the only way I could avoid mutations with these guys would be to make both Hawk and Brindle trans, and I didn't really want to do that when I try to make the characters' gender assigned at birth match what the game gave them <-this is why I made Mousepaw trans, I kept calling him male and he felt right as a tom, but he's afab in game). -----A new series will start coming out sometime after the next batch of Pretty Petals Posts. There will be art drawn by me, so hopefully I get it done and you all like it. -----I will be posting more polls that might affect certain stories, like Tales Before Birch and New Tales of the Forest, so be on the lookout for that

Story: 

When Whitepaw was an apprentice, he had a brother whom he loved dearly.

One day, his brother had fallen terribly sick, and had to live in the medicine cat’s den. Whitepaw was terribly scared, but hopeful that his brother might survive. His prays were left unanswered. 

Whitepaw was stricken by grief and agony at his death, and blamed the medicine cat for his losing him, swearing to himself that one day he would get revenge upon said medicine cat. The day of his warrior ceremony soon came, and the newly dubbed Whiteear doubled down upon his plan, and began plotting on how he would kill the medicine cat. 

One day he and the medicine cat were finally alone outside of camp. Whiteear struck quickly, ripping their throat out and leaving the body near a fox den. he gave himself a thorough wash and had pretended that a fox had gotten the medicine cat while they were out.

He had believed that his work was done, and resumed Clan life as normal, even finding a mate. However that mate had gotten fatally injured in battle, and died in front of the medicine cat. Whiteear was livid, and grew to believe that all medicine cats were incompetent imbeciles who let innocent cats perish for no good reason. 

Yet again, he swore revenge, revenge for all those who had perished because a medicine cat hadn’t or wouldn’t save them. He made quick work of this medicine cat, bringing them poisoned fresh-kill when no other cat could watch. He carried on for a few years, killing any medicine cat he could, believing that he was making his mate and his brother proud.

On his very last day with his Clan, he had lured a medicine cat to a pack of vicious dogs, and watched in delight as they ripped them to shreds. He got rather cocky, and decided to taunt the dogs from his perch in a tree.

He laughed and mocked them, unaware that the branch was bending dangerously. Then it snapped, and into the lions’ den he fell. He yowled and cried as the dogs ripped him limb from limb, and finally he was whisked away by darkness as his corpse was used as a chewtoy.

Wen he was judged, he was sent to the Dark Forest, and cursed to roam without pieces of his pelt to forever remind him of the crimes he had committed.

--Soap dramas actually kinda inspired the backstory for this character, originally they just wanted to draw a skeleton cat for halloween but then they got an idea to take a soap drama trope & use it in a character concept
