I've seen the admittedly very wholesome fanart of Akiren and Goro meeting as children, or the tiny fanfics (I've only really found one, if anyone knows of the existence of more, don't hesitate to link them)

Childhood AUs are adorable.

But might I add my own twist??

What if our fated Persona user rivals originally met when they were----tinnier.

Babyhood AU, if you will.

The Phantom Thieves have canon birthdays and birth years, although Akiren's isn't listed, he obviously has to be born the same year as Ann and Ryuji since he shares a school grade with them. As for his month and day, I headcanon all the Persona Protagonists (P3, P4, and P5) birthdays are the day their game first released in Japan. Since canonically P4s Protagonist, Yu Narukami, shares a B day with his game release (All the Investigation Teams scooter license numbers are of their birthdays, and Yu's happens to be the day his game released). So if P4 follows that logic, why not P3 & P5? It's the best evidence we have to go off of 🤷‍♀️.

Point is, that would make Akiren's birthday, September 15th 1999

We know from Atlus Twitter birthday announcements and P5 character biographies in Japan, all the other PTs birthdays easily (excluding Morgana)

So we know Akechi's is June 2nd 1998.

Goro was a year and 15 months old when Akiren was born.

So let's imagine a scenario where---Akiren and Akechi's mothers both decided to take their infants to the Park. And they just so happen to be sitting on the same bench.

In Japan, the seasons to visit parks are Spring or Autumn, apparently. So let's say it's Mid-Spring, April.

April of 2000.

Mamakechi and mama---whichever you headcanon Akiren's surname to be. I haven't seen anyone combine his surname so I don't know which one to use to satisfy both parties.

Anyway, both mothers take their sons to the park since it's a nice day. They can't obviously play on any equipment since they are too young, so they would just be laying in their mother's arms, or if a bit older, exploring the greenery but still sticking close.

Goro would be 22 months, so would be more mobile, while Akiren would be 7 or 6 months depending if this is before or after April 15th. 6-7 month olds can roll over and maybe start to crawl at that time, and maybe babble.

So Akiren wouldn't be able to do much, or "play" like 22 month old Goro could. But since toddlers are usually pretty interested in younger infants, and try to interact, I could see Mamakechi and protagmom introducing their babies to each other, and trying to get them to interact.

"Goro, look! It's a baby. You used to be that little once. Can you say 'hi'? Be gentle, don't pinch or poke him."

Akiren stares back, with innocent curious eyes, and being cradled in his mother's arms. She tells Mamakechi that he's not very talkative. Not "shy" persei- he just prefers to watch people quietly, and tolerates one sided interactions with fellow infants fine, he's just a "little man of few words".

Mamaprotag gently puppeteer's one of Akiren's pudgy arm to wave back at Goro.

I just find baby Goro and Akiren meeting and interacting concept to be so wholesome and precious. You could even headcanon it more as possibly being canon, because---honestly, who remembers being 7 month or 1 year olds? Our memories and "awareness" doesn't kick in until a couple more years. The earliest memories I can recall was at four years old.

And you could write this as a one off chance meeting. Maybe one of them happened to be in the same city and place at that moment, but they move around alot so didn't exchange contact info to keep in touch for future interactions and playdates so their sons could grow up together.

Friend Shaped by 3musketears | T | 11.8k | An utterly hilarious Shuake oneshot that can be described as “Gorb the fic.” The characterization here is guaranteed to make you laugh… because Akira buying a bunch of Gorbs to annoy Goro? Absolutely funny.

Zagreus by BkZa555 | T | 70.8k | An ongoing fic that features P3/P4/P5, with a focus of Shuake, as well as Ryomina! It’s hard to summarize what this fic is like as it’s very much a slow build- but if you ever wanted to see Ryoji interact with Joker and Akechi, I’d highly recommend reading this!

tell it to the volcano by tboi | G | 9.6k | Ryomina oneshot that emphasizes how SEES becomes his found family- also featuring the headcanon that Minato uses JSL! it’s a really fab fic… i love it so much!

Reborn by Boneless_Milkshake | T | 8.3k | This is one of the softest and fluffiest Ryomina fics out there! It made me laugh a lot and if you want a wholesome oneshot, this is it!

this is proof i am not alone by relationshipcrimes | G | 1.1k | An angsty Ryomina oneshot depicting their relationship in December… It’s so good 💔

The Persona 3 SocMed AU by Lilyhana | T | ?.?k | This fic hasn’t been updated since March 2020, but, if you want a humorous take on Ryomina’s relationship + Hamuko trying to set the two of them up together, I’d recommend reading it!

reconstruct by kurosu (akc) | G | 2.7k | I really love the characterization of this oneshot… it shows such fluffy snippets of the Ryomina dynamic and it’s such a nice portrayal of their first kiss!

spent, without realising how precious they were by foxmulder_whereartthou | T | 2.7k | an angsty ryomina oneshot in which minato gets to be pulled out of the seal temporarily… i love this one. i also recommend reading this author’s other works- they’re also really good!

can’t get my mind out of those memories (what were they?) by foxmulder_whereartthou | G | 1.6k | i love this ryomina oneshot… depicts ryoji interacting with shinjiro and akihiko and!! it has fabulous hurt/comfort vibes featuring the only one bed trope!

I wasn't liveblogging much P4U in past couple of days and now I'm at chapter 9 of episode P3 so here's a quick summary of my thoughts so far:

-I like how P4U is bringing more focus on Velvet Siblings and how there's normal quarrel between siblings showed there too! So Theodore is the naive younger brother that's doing errands for older sisters, Margaret is that serious oldest sister that keeps the younger siblings in check and Elizabeth is this quirky and rebelious middle sister . I honestly love their relationship with each other. I wonder how their relationships are with the youngest Velvet Sister so far, Lavenza. I hope we got some spin off that will feature her relationship with rest of the Velvet Siblings as well! (idk why but I headcanon that while other sisters are making fun of Theodore as the naive younger brother often, the all three of siblings are actually extremely protective about Lavenza, especially after what happened in P5, and that she's everyone favorite sister)

- Teddie's so wholesome with wanting to become Sho's friend omg 😭 #shodeservesahug, like please someone hug this boy, he deserves better 😭😭

-Not gonna lie but Chapter 9, Mitsuru's part is making me ship another rarepair again - Mitsuru x Kikuno this time haha

I don’t mean this to be rude, but why do you stress so heavily on why you won’t abuse? I was looking through your blog and also said you won’t even write for yandere. Its fanfiction and just pretend right?

Okay, so you wouldn’t believe the amount requests I have received in the past that basically ask me things like;

“I want to request Reader x Character where he almost hits reader and apologizes.”

Or

“Do a Reader x Character where he does hit reader and apologizes.”

Or other requests essentially asking me to write character gaslighting reader or saying threatening things.

This romanticizes abuse and it is not okay EVER. A man or woman or non-binary or trans person should NEVER EVER EVER lay their hands on you ever. Unless it is absolutely out of self defense because you attacked them and that’s it.

In this particular case it is not sweet when a man apologizes after, it’s not a grand display of good masculinity and showing his “mature” side because he can apologize for almost hurting you or hurting you.

It is deeply disturbing and the epitome of toxic masculinity. It is not manly, it is not good or romantic or wholesome. It should never occur no matter how angry someone is with you.

And while I am marked as an 18+ blog my fics generally are not 18+, it’s the confessions that motivated me to mark it as 18+. Not the fics or headcanons. So when people are reblogging my fics if younger people were to read them, being as impressionable or naive (which isn’t a bad thing) could very much assume that is normal behavior. And I refuse to contribute to that in anyway shape or form.

It’s bad enough there are people who write YA targeted books that have included darker themes like r@p3 and abuse with heavy misogynistic themes branded as “romance”. Someone who’s impressionable and will read that and think that’s the standard or have that expectation of what a relationship should be all because he’s “hot” or “pretty” and he’s in a position of power. Him being in a position of power makes it even worse.

A friend of mine who is an author and works in preventing or stopping human trafficking, and helping abuse victims read a few of these books and did an analysis and said the content is ridiculous.

I’ve got deep feelings about it if you can’t tell.

And I refuse contribute to that very toxic theme that’s floating around and you wouldn’t believe the amount of adults and fans that defend these books as romance. As acceptable romance.

Not to mention, themes of abuse is extremely triggering for me. Not in a “I’m just throwing the word around because I can.” I’m a victim of abuse because I was the young and impressionable teenager and was under the assumption that’s what love should look like. It continued for a year.

I was lucky I was never hit, but there were constant threats and while he never hit me there were times he put hands on me to threaten me. There were times he’d threaten to kill me if I did x or x.

I’ve also been abused my “best friend” granted I wasn’t a teenager anymore and it wasn’t romantic. But still it stands that I was vulnerable when it occurred and it wasn’t okay. There were texts that made me uncomfortable and constant gaslighting even when we RPed the romantic character she put me with would gaslight me.

It’s why I can’t write Yandere and romanticized abuse. Aside from the fact that while my blog is 18+ the fics can absolutely be for much younger audiences and I won’t contribute to desensitizing younger more impressionable people. As well as people who are extremely kind or lonely and impressionable.

It is a huge trigger for me.

I also want my blog to be a very safe space for not just those that are young, but those who have been abused romantically/platonically/etc. I want for it to be an escape from those harsh realities.

I want people to read my fics and feel loved and warm and safe. And I never ever want to contribute to any confusion or normalization of being hurt.
