#why post it in ewan’s tag when he’s the actor

Seriously people learn to post your fics under a read more or something. When I go to Ewan’s tag I want to see posts about him and not scroll past billion of fics that aren’t under a read more. Also people thirsting on him from his disturbing movie where he plays a literal r*pist by posting gifs of his scenes DONT DO IT???

I've seen quite a few posts over the last few days floating around tumblr in the Ewan tags, calling him out for being a liar in regards to his comments in interviews during the promotion of HOTD s2.

Look, what did you expect. He's not exactly going to sit there and spoil Aemonds entire s2 storyline, he was just doing his job.

Plus has it never occured to anyone that there could be extra scenes/footage of Aemond that hasn't been included in the season.

We might not agree with certain aspects of s2 (I've been vocal in some things that I'm not happy about with regards to the writing) but can we just actually appreciate Ewan's talent and admire his dedication to his role as Aemond, you can see how genuine he is when he talks about Aemond and the reasons why he does what does.

There were days when we were surviving off zoomed in pixelated images of Ewan, now we have been blessed with interviews where Ewan is just being happy/having fun and being comfortable enough to share things about himself that he wouldn't share before.

AND -

Instead of flooding the Ewan/HOTD tags with hate, how about we share our love and appreciation for a very talented actor who I'm sure will go on to do amazing things in the future.

I don’t know if it can be properly conveyed how much shit was thrown Hayden’s way when his prequel movies came out. Just a metric fuckton of crap. After AOTC (and only in his very early 20s) he was swiftly made the Star Wars pariah, and ROTS did little to assuage that. A lot of the dissatisfaction with the prequels somehow fell on him, both his turns as Anakin got Razzie “Awards”, his name became synonymous with bad, wooden acting.

Over the years the opinion of his performance shifted to Hayden being an unfortunate victim of George Lucas' writing and directing, saddled with lines no actor could make work. But even that opinion still largely discounted Hayden's acting ability.

For him to come back after 17 years to the role he got so much flack for, have his big scene show not even half of his face (and have that face caked in makeup and prosthetic), have his voice distorted, and still deliver the way he did? Still convey all the rage and evil and arrogance but also pain and sadness within Vader? Show everyone this is why he landed the role two decades ago, because he can be frightening and vulnerable and devastating even with just one eye and the corner of his mouth visible? Show everyone he is Anakin/Vader, and make everyone consider he was good all along? Incredible, amazing, the chosen one indeed. Thanks Deborah Chow and Ewan for making this show, thank you Hayden for coming back.

Reason for URL: I hang around music nerds, and I am a bit… okay, I’m a music nerd. It’s a sort of oblique reference to a Gilbert and Sullivan song called “Minerva! Oh, Hear Me!” It’s a warping of one of the lyrics, which says, “Oh, goddess wise” I couldn’t remember the actual lyric, (I forgot google existed) and in my memory, I changed it to “Oh, great goddess”, which sounded right. Again, I forgot google existed. And I have a dramatic streak a mile wide. Gingerflower — Armitage Hux/Rose Tico — Star Wars (Okay, guys, guys, guys, hear me out, okay? Please don’t come @ me. I got sucked into this via Reylo Modern AU fanfics, and I went down a rabbit hole. From there, I read some canon-divergent fic, and it got me thinking. I mean TRoS didn’t even obliquely mention Finn/Rose, so, I thought, why the kriff not. Why shouldn’t Rose “Save What We Love” Tico get a romance/definitively happy ending via fanfic. We already had one Enemies-to Lovers pairing in the Sequel Trilogy, what’s one more? And when you add in Hux’s “I’m the Spy!”? This kinda writes itself. Resistance Spy-Master Rose Tico? Why not. Plus, that deleted scene from TLJ did kind of open this whole thing up.)

32. Favorite book you read this year?

Oooh this one is hard! Just in these last two months alone I’ve read 34 books - most for my Masters program - but the ones I liked the best were ‘Choking Back the Devil’ by Donna Lynch (poetry) and ‘Priestdaddy’ by Patricia Lockwood (memoir). Most of my professors seemed to pick post-apocalyptic fic or dystopian fic, both of which are not my cups of tea, but it was nice to read Lockwood’s memoir. It was hilarious, and casual, and talked about Priests having to learn what furries are and being afraid of Milfs. I’m pretty sure I stopped every other page to take a picture of just...how absolutely hilarious it was. 

Now, like, I’m not Catholic, nor religious, but I can see that the book could either be hella cathartic to a former Catholic, or hella blasphemous to a practicing Catholic. So uh, that’s my only warning beyond there are some minor themes of sexual assault - only discussed for a paragraph or two in the 300-something page book - due to Lockwood’s experiences, since it is a memoir. 

‘Choking Back the Devil’ by Donna Lynch was a book I read for my poetry final earlier this year when I was graduating undergrad, and it is a beautiful book of horror poetry. From Kelpies to internal struggles, there’s gore and so much in that book - but the way Lynch put the poems together, just - her mind - amazing. 

34. Favorite movie you watched this year?

Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. OKAY. BEAUTIFUL. SO MANY WORDS. 

I walked out of that theatre feeling better than I’d felt all year. When I talk about being empowered - THAT’S THE FUCKIN MOVIE. THAT’S IT. I just - I’m still speechless when it comes to that movie. Fucking fantastic in every way - actors? FUCK YES. Costuming? I’m drooling. Cinnamon tography? Hell yeah. Action scenes? Beating the shit out of cops? Ewan McGregor as the sort-of suave villain?!?! Harley with her babies?! 

The sandwich scene alone - the angst and sorrow - that should earn them like, ten Oscars. And a BAFTA too because why the fuck not.

36. Favorite series that you watched this year?

Dead Like Me. It’s a pretty old show, as far as shows go, but it follows this girl named Georgia. One day, as she’s going to work, she stops walking and gets killed by a falling toilet from the ISS. However, from then on, she becomes a  Grim Reaper, taking people’s souls before they die so they don’t feel pain, along with a rag-tag group of other dead people; they’re lead by Mandy Patinkin and he’s absolutely fab. 

It’s a cute little show, definitely a comedy, and comes at the plot a lot like Buffy the Vampire Slayer did - which is hella good and I cannot stop boosting it lol! I think it’s still on Amazon Prime too! Not sure where else to find it, but it’s probably easily pirated. 

38. Favorite artist this year?

Oh that’s easy - as always - Barns Courtney, with Fall Out Boy in a close second. Barns, earlier in the year, released a new EP and it’s hella sad, but catchy! It’s the Hard to Be Alone EP . ‘Missing You’ and ‘Home’ are my favs.

I was tagged by @szonklin. 💚 Thank you, it was fun again, but as you might used to it, I cheated again a little bit. 😋 However, I'm trying to say myself, what you commented last time under my post, that it's not cheating if ai double the effort. 😀

I had to realize, that mostly, when I need a comfort film, I'm turning to shows more than just one movie. Also... Comfort films... Gosh, I have different for different moods. Yet, I was able to made a kind of list.

Films

1. Salamon Fishing in the Yemen (2011)

It's one of my favourite rom-com, I've to admit. I don't know why, I'm aware, that it is nothing special, but I like Ewan McGregor, I love Scotland, and somehow it just works for me. Definietly made me feel better every time I watch it.)

2. Howl's Moving Castle (2004)

I could've list all works of Hayao Miyazaki, bc he creats wonderful, breathtaking worlds, lovely characters, and amazing stories for everyone. I stick with Howl though, bc if I've to choose, this piece is my 'comforting' one. Actually, I think this adaptation of Diana Wynn Jones's book is better than the book itself. It's rare. 😉

3. Hot Fuzz (2007)

I can't help on myself, I love the typical british humor of this movie, I love how sensible that the actors enjoyed their work, and like Simon Pegg. This is my favourite piece from The Cornetto Triology, and when I need a good laugh, I often choose this piece to watch.

4. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)

Good, beautifully composed actions and great music. Fantastic actors. Colin Firth. 😋 And Colin Firth doing THAT scan. This film might be violent sometimes, but it's just brilliant: it has speed, it's fun to watch, and it totally switch out my overused brain.

5. The handmaiden (2016)

The story. The directing. The beautifully composed scenes. The perfect cinematography. The colours. The actors. The music. Everything. Is. Just. Perfect. Yeah, yeah, it's not an easy film, I've to admit. But it's so beautiful it hurts.

6. Mary and the Witch's Flower (2017)

I just simply like this tale. It's not perfect, but with all the colours and creativity it's a little bit magic for me.

7. Eagle (2011)

As for it's theme, it's definietly not a classical comfort movie choice, but somehow I love this film. Mostly bc the acting of Jamie Bell, and bc of their chemistry with Channing Tatum.

TV Shows / Multiple chaptered movies

1. How to Train Your Dragon series

I can't choose just one part, I love the whole series. It's a story which I want to show my kids, bc they can have fun while they learn something great.

2. Gravity Falls

This is My Ultimate Feelgood Favourite Show, when I have bad days, I always choose this. Bc it's creative, adventuoros, myctical, fun, I love the characters... You can search for easter eggs, and search and solve mysterious hinta... it's literally for everyone. I've seen both seasons for like dozens of times, but it never gets old, while it makes me feel good. It's like going back to the best parts of my childhood.

3. The Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3

Oh well...pirates, advantures, actions, great Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt tunes. Great fun to watch.

4. Anne (1985)

There are 6 episodes of this tv series version of Anne from Green Gables, it's my childhood.

5. The Dresden Files series (2007)

Oh well... It's cheap and nothing like the books. Yet, somehow I enjoy to watch it, when I wish for something easy and magical and sarcastic. (Actually, I like the books very much.)

6. Jane Eyre (2006)

This version with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens is one of my favourite book adaptation of all time. Which is funny, bc Jane Eyre is not among my favourite books, but this version just catches so perfectly both characters, not idealizing them, or make the whole story more romantical than it is (which is not romantic at all), and the actors are great in their rolls, that I choose this often to switch off my racing mind. I can't explain it why.

7. Emma (2009)

Romola Garai and Johnny Lee-Miller. I've nothing else to say. 😂

Andante, andante - Lily James (Mamma mia! 2 OST) // all right, I didn’t mean to return to my Mamma mia! obsession phase - it was bad enough when the first movie got out - but I got to listen to one song (which was not this one, but another song about a student kissing her teacher, rather creepy if you think about it but the music is so engaging it’s still stuck in my head, damn it) by chance and started roaming through the soundtrack of this sequel (which I haven’t seen yet tbh, actually by choice since I already know a thing about the story that upsets me a lot, but I guess I’ll eventually watch it because the songs aren’t bad, though I’ve had the impression that the level of silliness is not even close to the first movie and that’s what I actually enjoyed about it in the first place :p ) and I got to listen to this song and :’) - I’m not even one for love songs but this is so sweet and warm and intimate and Lily James’ voice is delightful so yeah, another one bound to be stuck in my head for days! also it doesn’t help that I’ve been thinking about Philinda slow dancing to this song I have a HUGE problem

Never give up on your dreams - Two Steps From Hell // HA, my mandatory TSFH mention when I talk about music! XD (and be grateful it’s the only one as I tried to make the list varied) One of my favourites (mh, I say that A LOT regarding TSFH but oh well :p ), so moving and epic and heart-lifting, I’m undone whenever I listen to this, like, I can’t function, it’s almost too much for me! :’)

Amazing grace - J2 (feat. Chelsea Caroline) // Oh, I love J2′s covers of songs, they’re so badass!! This is a more pop-rock/epic rendition than the usual hymn, but I find it great, and the singer’s voice is powerful and rich!

Taking the hobbits to Isengard - Erwin Beekveld // I legit have this song in my music playlist - I mean, how could I not?! XD This will NEVER be outdated and not legendary!! 

I’ve no more fucks to give - Thomas Benjamin Wild. Esp. // About this song I’m just going to say LIFE GOALS!!! This is the level I aspire to achieve hands down!

Only happy when it rains - Garbage // I blame the Captain Marvel soundtrack for bringing back this song, which rocks and sometimes is also a BIG mood!!

Northern lights - Gaelic Storm // aaaaaaand Gaelic Storm is another band that tends to pop up when I get to speak about music! I love, love, LOVE this song, it’s so touching and enchanting and soothing and, dare I say, romantic... <33

One day - Hans Zimmer // catch me crying whenever I hear this goddamn piece... especially the godforsaken end, man... you know the scene when it plays... ;_______;

Fat bottomed girls - Red Hot Chilli Pipers // whoo hoo, catch me headbanging and dancing all around at this!! I love the original song, of course, but this version with BAGPIPES!!!!!!!! INSTANT LOVE, it was!!!! (well, it does good on my self-esteem a bit as well, since I think I can consider myself a part of this “category” of ladies celebrated by the song ;) )

Today we rise - Luke Youngblood (Galavant OST) // have I begged you today to watch this show??!!  This is one of my absolute FAVOURITES in the whole soundtrack and I get to sing along proudly every chance I get (which happens basically when I’m alone, since I have to skip this soundtrack while I’m outside in public because if I listened to it I would surely start smiling and giggling like an idiot and people would certainly think me mad) ... lol, Sid always complained about never having the opportunity to do a proper performance and in the end he was given one of the most brilliant songs to sing!!! :D I’m almost, ALMOST tempted to follow him into battle - surely I’ll sing the hell out of it until the end, only to likely hide with the other peasants because well, once you think about what you’re singing you’re not exactly encouraged to pursue!! XD

Helvegen - Wardruna // wow, this song always sends me chills down my spine, so haunting and enchanting!!!

In the end - 2WEI // I blame AOS season 6′s trailer for making me listen to this, although I already heard other pieces of 2WEI... What can I say, I’m rather drawn to epic covers of songs (although I still love the original song to bits)...

El tango de Roxanne - Ewan McGregor, Jacek Koman, José Feliciano (Moulin Rouge OST) // I rewatched the movie not long time ago and this song never fails to fuck me up, I always arrive at the end choked up... I love the soundtrack of this movie!

Vespertine (My crimson bride) - Kamelot // Can’t explain why, but this song, rather than being a fucking WONDER, has also been an anchor for me when my grandmother died... I don’t know really why it kept playing in my head during that period, but it was actually a soothing balm for my wounded heart and my broken thoughts, so I’m really grateful to it for keeping me steady (well, as steady as I could have been in that circumstance)... I love this song (and its album) to bits!!!

Everybody needs somebody to love - The Blues Brothers // This song (and its soundtrack and movie) is a sure antidote to sadness for me, nothing more to say!!

Sailing for adventure (on the big blue wet thing XD) - Muppet Treasure Island OST // let’s end on a VERY serious note, shall we?! Yep, I totally have this song on my phone and every time I listen to it I feel like I could embark on a ship and sail away! 1. Which HP character do you identify the most with? 

I actually have no idea.  It’s been so long since I’ve reread the actual cannon books... Buzfeed just told me Bellatrix and then I retook it and got Dumbledore, so... take that as you will...

2. If you could insert yourself into any HP fic which would you drop into?

The Debt of Time.  Hands Down.

3. What’s your OTP, why? 

Drarry or Wolfstar, probably.  Why?  I think because in both of them they have to work through a lot of meaningful shit.  Like, it’s not easy but it’s worth it and in the end if they’re in love it’s with who the person really is after they’ve pushed past a lot of images and appearances. 

4. If you had to teach a subject at Hogwarts what would you pick?

Charms?

5. If you had to face the Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries who would you have taken in your ‘squad’?

Like, which fellow students?  (That’s a good question!)  Probably Longbottom, Luna, Hannah (since I’m a Puff) and... I don’t know but those three stand out.
