It's CYM's 6th Anniversary. Just finished rewatching it, and like, it's always emotional, but something about this year seeing a show where horrible people can be reasoned with and the world becomes a better place, especially with the show being a big damn trans allegory...it's hitting real hard in the feels, man! ;.;

Rosie owns Alastor's soul, I'm very worried about the potential backlash from swaths of people who interpreted their relationship as "omg BESTIES! #friendship goals! They're so wholesome"

like, at the very least it'll make people upset and uncomfortable if their original interpretation of their relationship was comforting to them, and at worst it'll result in people being really aggressive about it, either wholesale rejecting Rosie as a character, or getting angry at the writing team

personally, i still think Lilith makes the most sense to be the one to own Alastor's soul, but after the initial shock of it (apparently) being Rosie wore off, I actually kinda like the concept. Friends who seem to be on equal footing and have a healthy dynamic on the outside, but internally there's conflict and mistreatment is a really compelling story, especially if you've been in a situation like that. I still don't feel like it was entirely set up, but maybe after watching s2 it'll make more sense?

again this might not even Actually be canon...but if it is, I'm interested but worried

starting to feel like "media literacy" has become short hand for "you're opinion on the quality of this media is different from mine and therefore you lack media literacy but I don't!" whether the opinion is positive or negative and Truly I. Am. TIRED.

to my understanding, the key to media literacy is understanding the intention behind a piece of media, considering multiple perspectives, and recognizing when you're letting your emotional bias impact your perspective. so deciding someone is media illiterate simply because they have a different perspective on a piece of media feels incompatible with the point of media literacy to begin with imo

Not saying you can't disagree or argue your point, but dismissing someone's perspective because it's different from yours isn't a showcase of media literacy so much as a showcase of bias, and it's worth it to interrogate and understand that bias in order to become more media literate

(it's also not strictly about fictional media, but news/political media as well and is a means to combat misinformation)

Rewatched Adventures in Light Distortion, completely forgetting about the part where Steven's crying 'cause he just wants Greg back, and proceeded to be overcome with emotion and crying along side Steven lol not unusual when I watch this episode, I'm just surprised I forgot that scene! lol

Bouncing back and forth between the regular Hazbin Hotel tag and the critical tag because I don't really vibe wholly with either side!

I'm loving the show, a lot actually, but I think it's very flawed and want to engage with critique of the show...but it seems like a lot of people (not all, obviously, but a lot) are split on their feelings on the show and I think both sides (lovers or haters) are sick of each other so there's very little middle ground...

The fans are sick of the negativity so they lean into the positive stuff which is fine, but I find a lot will praise/give a pass to things that I just don't think are good/passable...

The haters are sick of the praise and giving passes to certain issues in the show which is understandable, but I find people having issues with things I either don't think are problems or blowing things out of proportion...

And that's just in regards to the show itself, that's not even getting into everything regard Viv but I'm not brave enough to go into any of that! lol

I'm just bummed I don't feel like I have a lot of people to talk to about the show. The people who love the show seem to not wanna hear/not agree with any critiques, and the people who are pissed at the show don't seem to want to hear anything positive about it.

I'm tired... lol

I don’t read much these days...

Mental health issues/executive dysfunction makes focusing extremely difficult and it’s very hard for me to finish reading stuff in one sitting, or even finish reading it at all....

But apparently I’m enough of a slut for anything relating to Danny Phantom that I read the through A Glitch in Time in a little over an hour! lol

I feel like season 7 of Dragons The Nine Realms was good but a step down from last season and I can't put my finger on why???

There was a lot I liked about it (especially the score, like, I would genuinely love a soundtrack for this shows score!), but something felt off...like...more than usual lol

SPOILERS:

I think it was the group disbanding thing...felt a little forced, thought the pay off was pretty good though.

This was the first time Jun ever actively pissed me off tho! Like, she was always obnoxious and self interested but WOW was she a pain in episode two! I literally snapped "Shut the fuck up!" at her at some point lol

Thought it was very funny that Alex had a black shirt on throughout her entire episode...like...was it to show that she was emo and edgy or something? Like she's going to the dark side, for one episode, but not really? And then in the next episode she's back to the green shirt. Just thought that was funny lol

Also, Olivia was mentioned offhandedly in the first episode and then never showed up??? Like, was her voice actress busy? What gives!? Yet another bizzare writing choice on this show's part I guess XD

Dunno how I feel about Hiccup and Toothless creating a cage for the Jormundgandr, but honestly Hiccup going down there and building a bunch of traps for dragon hunters in the first place was kind of ridiculous. My feelings on the ending of The Hidden World are complicated, I don't hate it conceptually but I've read a lot of really good arguments about why it didn't work, part of me wonders if this was the writers way of giving Hiccup and Toothless more time together? *shrug* Thought it was funny how Thunder realized his recessive gene of retractable teeth lol

this show is still very much My Trash and I am very interested to see what happens in season 8 (and I'm assuming season 9 since, you know, 9 realms lol)
