Someone who knows more than me plz halp.

I installed the Linkle mod and Second Wind on my Wii U (well technically on the HDD where the game is. I ain’t touching the nand.) via FTPiiU_Everywhere.

Loading the game shows the splash screen, then when I press A to start, the TV goes black and the sound stops from both the TV and the gamepad. Gamepad shows the “tap here to play on the gamepad only” screen and nothing does anything. On restarting the console, I can swap back and forth between the gamepad and TV, but as soon as I click A to start, black screen, music stops.

I thought maybe it just takes longer to load with the mods, but leaving it alone seems to do nothing. Other games I’ve loaded onto the HDD (but not modded) seem to work fine.

Writing “We Didn’t Start The Fire 2“

I’ve been working on a sequel to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” which would explore world history and culture from 1989 to the present.  I got distracted while doing research, sending myself down an information rabbit hole for the last 3 hours, so I haven’t written anything besides the first few lines.

What I have written is the start of comprehensive list of major events since 1989 to include in the song.  I started by listing major events I could recall off the top of my head, then went down each year’s Wikipedia article to find more.  Each article would remind me of a dozen different events from different years, so I’ve been hopping up and down the list, filling it out randomly.  I stopped researching at 2002 because I need to take a break, but I will continue it later.

Wii Gay, U Crimes

As of late May, you cannot buy games on Wii U or 3DS. The consoles are effectively abandoned. But, in that darkness, I come bearing light.

Have you ever wanted to be able to turn off your gamepad screen on games that don't use it? What about lock Breath of the Wild at a rock solid 30 fps, even in the forest? What about modify BotW to play as Linkle, a girl version of Link, or as Zelda herself in an all new story? How about boot any Gamecube or Wii game and play them perfectly, or even with hacks of their own?

The console is abandoned, but not by us. Hacking your Wii U is easier than ever, and now impossible to brick by accident thanks to the new custom firmware, Tiramisu.

It's time. Wii Gay, U Crimes.

Once again asking for help from someone who knows more than me.

I’m still trying to install BOTW mods. I’ve remerged the mods in BCML and am going to sort them manually again.

There are some files that exist in both the base game and update lists (such as ActorInfo.product.sbyml in the Actor folder). Should these be replaced in both folders when I transfer the files with FTPiiU_Everywhere? My gut says yes, but I want to be sure

I also left this question on the FTPiiU_Everywhere tutorial on gamebanana, but the last comments there were from over a year ago so I’m not expecting a speedy response.

Wii U hacks complete. I think. Can’t figure out which NUSspli I need so I did the PC one and I have a bunch of stuff downloading as I type. The guide isn’t super clear about getting the files from the SD card to the HDD (turns out one of my 1Tb externals is in fact HDD so I’m using it.) so…. Idk! It’s a problem for tomorrow’s Mando because today’s Mando needs to go tf to bed!

Last Rites of the 3DS (and Wii U)

Monday, March 27th 2023, is the very last day to download software from the eShop. While this is generally sad for the loss of all the digital only content, there is one piece of software that is vital to have on every possible 3DS

If you ever want to play and transfer pokemon from Gen 1 (Red/Blue) through 7 (Sun/Moon) to Gen 8 (Sword/Shield) and beyond, you NEED to download Pokemon Bank NOW.

This will involve making a Nintendo Network ID, but that's simple and takes only a few minutes in the eShop.

If you miss this deadline, you will have to hack your 2DS/3DS to get this software. Follow the guide at 3ds.hacks.guide to do this with no risk of bricking. It takes about 30 minutes.

After that, you can check out my guide Three Gay New Crimes for advice on what a hacked 3DS can do. I have a similar guide for the Wii U as well.

One more time: download pokemon bank by the 27th, or hack your 3DS. Those are the only options for moving your pokemon forward.

head's up, your "three gay new crimes" gdoc opens in EDIT mode off that tumblr 3ds post's link.

I tested by adding and removing a space, and it 100% let me do that, so you probably want to lock it down to "read only, except people I add".

Also, I think it says a lot about tumblr that there's 91k+ notes on that post, but the guide seems to be completely(?) intact lmao

That's on purpose! Its editing suggestion mode, though, not true edits. I see every edit, including yours, and can reply and approve/deny them.

I have done a lot of research into 3DS and Wii U hacking scenes, but I am very much an outsider. But, I am just enough of a nerd that I know a lot of jargon. So there are two hypothetical people that I leave editing open for:

1: Today I Will Hack My 3DS

This is someone, typically from Tumblr, who has only ever played a couple of games on the console and has never even transferred files between computers. Just barely computer literate. Those people have the right to try, and it can be very, very intimidating. So I encourage them to comment in case any of my instructions are unclear, or just if they generally have questions. Maybe someday I'll spin off a Frequently Asked Questions page. But mostly I want to leave that door as wide open as I can.

2: The Gigabyte Chad

Sometimes people who are deep in the homebrew community find my guide and add very, very important information that I have either gotten wrong or misunderstood or omitted.
