Sarah/Spyglass!

- bad vision, despite having sensory-based powers (she's irritated at the irony)

- adopted, and is quite close with her parents. The peaceful nature of her powers enabled her to live at home during her childhood training, and she only signed a contract in her late teens. Hasn't contacted her moms in months due to being on the run, and it kinda hurts

- reluctant to admit that actually yes, she enjoys dressing up, and if she had more time to enjoy things like going out, would come up with all kinds of hot looks.

- the oldest of the rogue team by four years. Being the defacto adult figure/pseudo parent is stressful. (Lex absolutely doesn't help matters.)

this bastard has a fanclub, can you believe it?

- bilingual (Spanish and English)

- doesn't have many hobbies: his life revolves around trying to rise through the hero ranks

- spends a lot of his freetime working out, but will also watch documentaries or play video games

- soft spot for animals. Good publicity from volunteering at animal shelters is a perk, but that isn't his only reason for doing it

- despite this, he's kind of an asshole to the people he works with, and is known to take fights too far

His mother and father are Chilean and Irish immigrants (respectively). Even through his hero career, he kept in regular contact with his mother, who was very proud of him. (She'd change her tune to disappointment if she knew his violent tendencies when fighting criminals)

The research team eventually recreated his signature haircut to ensure people recognized him during demonstrations, but in the beginning, having an easy test subject was more important, so they cut it all off.

the centerpiece is the "photo" they have of her on Titanium's website. There's a 'meet our heroes' tab, and Akeela is not at all big on being in the public eye, so when the media manager said, "pose for your picture!" she was like "wtf am I supposed to do"

What was Overkast like?

honestly kind of a dick.

He was the star of his team, the only one who was ever really in the spotlight due to his looks, charisma, and flashy powers. Pretty cocky and self-centered, as well as impulsive and short-tempered, but cared enough about what the public thought of him to mostly keep that under wraps.

Overkast wasn't one of the superstar, highly-commercialized heroes (marketing, reality show, action figures, the whole shebang), but that was something he strived for. He had a pretty moderate fanbase due to, again, his flashy powers and good looks, but also his loose-cannon nature.

Initially, Corp overlooked his flaws, but as time went on he started to push his boundaries more and more. Going off alone when it was supposed to be a team mission, turning off his comms in the middle of a fight, etc. Titanium couldn't go too far with any disciplinary action either, because he had enough of a fanbase that it would raise unwanted questions from the public if he was decommissioned, especially if he raised a fuss about it. (Which he was likely to do).

Alexei was the final straw, though. He blatantly ignored the order to incapacitate and went right for dismemberment, while several civilian witnesses were present. Titanium set up an under the table "disposal" for him a few months after that.

can you please talk a bit more about Akeela? She seems like a really cool character and I want to know more.

Akeela is just about equal to Nabi with how much I love her--

Her powers manifested younger than most, when she was about three years old. Destructive abilities like pyrokinesis are heavily monitored, so her parents were immediately offered a choice:

Pay for an expensive tuition at a private boarding school for Empowered like her, or give her up to the city. They were unable to afford the cost of the school.

She signed a contract with Titanium at 10, and officially debuted as a sidekick at 13, though she was running missions long before then. Heroes don't officially become part of a team until they're 18, as the environment is viewed as too dangerous for minors. Officially, kid heroes are restricted to "safe" duties, like directing emergency services, providing casualty care, and helping out during a natural disaster. Off the record though, their workload can be about the same as an adult hero, and Akeela is no exception.

Some more Akeela fun facts:

- She (14) is taller than Sarah (25), and is very amused by this.

- She's easily among the top 100 most powerful heroes in the city.

- She has no tolerance for spicy food, but feels like she should due to her powers, and tries to eat it anyway to build up a tolerance.

- Punk rock in style, music taste, and actions (she wants to dismantle corporate brick by brick)
