The 3rd, 4th, and 5th amendments...then somewhere in the 7th amendment Samuel Prescott warned us all that the Red Coats were coming, so all the cannonballs had to be moved and Concord had to be warned... (6th amendment was too speedy a trial to film). #dogtowncrossfit #thebillofrights #theconstitution #independenceday #3rdamendment #4thamendment #5thamendment #paulrevere #samuelprescott #williamdawes #thebritisharecoming (at DogTown CrossFit)

#PaulRevere is certainly more remembered for his Midnight Ride the night of April 18th, in some part due to the popular poem by #HenryWadsworthLongfellow. . . What some may not know, there was a another rider that night- #WilliamDawes. . . Unlike Revere who was ferried across to Charlestown before he proceeded on horseback through Medford on his way to Lexington, Dawes would go by land down the thin Boston Neck that once connected the city to the mainland (Boston Neck would be approximately Washington Street today, the land around it filled in later years as the city expanded) . . Despite their different routes Dawes & Revere would arrive in #Lexington around the same time to warn #JohnHancock & #SamAdams of their imminent arrest by the British. . . You'll find a monument to Dawes' #MidnightRide sculpted into the pavement just outside Cambridge Common in #HarvardSquare. These horseshoes mark the approximate route as he passed through Cambridge. . . There is some question as to where Dawes final resting place is- unlike Revere who joins John Hancock and Sam Adams in the Granary Burial Ground, it is suggested Dawes may be a bit further down the road at Kings Chapel, although others say he might rest in Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain. . . #Longfellow who's poem would celebrate the Midnight Ride in verse would funnily enough take up residence in what was once #GeorgeWashington's Headquarters in Cambridge. . .
