I want to be perfectly clear: This post may make you think I am racist or bigoted. I do not believe I am.  I believe that the lives of minority populations matter.  I believe that LGBTQ+ lives matter.  I believe that women are of equal importance to men.  I believe that equality among all races and genders are Human Rights and Civil Liberties issues and that if all of these groups seeking equality for their individual purposes came together and stand as One Voice for Equality, that more headway could be made on all fronts.

Now here’s the part that’s going to make you think I’m racist.  Why do we have things like Black History Month and Hispanic History Month, etc...?  People would flip their shit if we had a White History Month, so why do we have to dedicate a month to the history of specific groups?  Honestly, I think the entire country- hell, the entire world even- would be better off if we just teach the damn truth in history classes instead of trying to make it “child friendly.”

Truth: History is bloody and ugly and it’s not supposed to be child friendly.  It’s supposed to scare the pee out of them and make them want to make sure that this country never does anything like that ever again.

Truth: What the Pilgrims came here for and what the “Founding Fathers” gave us are drastically different things.

The Pilgrims arrived in 1620 and wanted nothing more than to be able to worship who/what they wanted to without having to hide from or answer to The Crown.  When England was unable to retake control of those who had fled; the country’s elite decided they didn’t want to lived under the rules of the Royals anymore and came to the Colonies and took over, bringing with them all the things that the original settlers had run away from.

Truth: The Constitution is dead.  It died the moment it was signed by 55 rich white dudes, who were proclaiming freedom and equality with their signatures while tearing families apart by kidnapping, enslaving, beating, raping and murdering Africans simply because they spoke a different language, lived in a different manner and had different colored skin.

We need to teach the truth.  We need to let people be who they are without hating them because they’re different.  For decades the United States proudly proclaimed to be “The Great Melting Pot” let us actually be that.

I do not believe people are illegal, I believe people come here illegally. Please, come to the United States, but do so through proper channels and also, please learn the language.  Celebrate your homeland’s culture and I encourage you to share it with others but please remember that you came here, not the other way around.  If Americans went to your home country to live and expected you to be able to communicate with them in English, would your country accept that or would they be forced to learn the language?

I believe that we should abolish birth-right citizenship.  One parent should be a natural born or naturalized citizen of the US or any child born here is a citizen of their parent’s home country.  If the parents are in process of becoming naturalized citizens when the child is born, when the process is complete, the child has all the same rights as child born to United States Citizens.  I feel that this will help in many ways.  It will end birthing tourism and will stop the hundreds of deaths that occur every year from people trying to get across the boarder to have their child to make it a US Citizen.  Deportation, if caught, will more than likely separate the child from its family and that isn’t worth it.

I feel like black people have a tendency to segregate themselves.  They form their own communities, the loudest condemn white people simply for being white (that’s racism, by the way), they even have their own television network. They refuse to share their stories with a broad audience anymore.  When I was growing up we watched The Jefferson’s, 227, Amen!, Cosby Show, Sister-Sister, Family Matters, etc... regularly, because in my house, those stories mattered just as much as Mama’s Family, Full House, Growing Pains, The Wonder Years, etc...  Having access to family sitcoms that showed black families going through the same things that white families do...  I feel like it helped to solidify my belief that we’re all the same, no matter what color our skin is.  We all face the same problems and we all handle those problems differently but they all get handled.  So why?  Why separate your stories from mainstream television when it can be used as a HUGE catalyst for equality?

I have had mostly positive interactions with people who are not while.  In fact, the only potentially harmful interactions I have personally had with another race happened 17 years ago and twice in one day just minutes apart.  On a three block stretch of sidewalk two separate teenage black males decided they had the right to block my path and grab my arms trying to prevent me from getting to my destination.  Fortunately for me, I have a great set of lungs.  Not so fortunate for them as in both cases I was able to get the attention of every person in the vicinity and they had no choice but to release me.  I do not hold every black person I see accountable for the actions of these jerks.  They are responsible for their own actions.  And it’s been 17 years!  I haven’t had a single bad interaction with a non-white person since then!  And I live in a big city!

Every person I interact with is judged by my personal experience with them.  I don’t give a crap what color your skin is, what God you pray to (if any), who you love, if you used to be the opposite sex...  Any of it...  I don’t care!  Are you a good person?  Do you not intentionally hurt people in any manner?   Do I have positive interactions with you?  That is what I judge people by.  Hell, even if I clash with someone I don’t go calling them a bad person (unless they actually are a truly bad person), they’re just someone that I don’t have a relationship with because we clash in a way that makes it not possible.

Anyway, I’m just rambling now...

I am not intentionally racist or bigoted, but I do realize that because of the way American Society works there are things that I believe that make me appear to be so.
