Uncommon photos of the first cec to ever open. The first location opened on Winchester Blvd in San Jose CA on May 17 1977. It closed in February 1985 due to a decline in guests.
After the store's closure the building was vacant until November 12 1986 when it was bought by a man named Lim Yee who converted the building into a restaurant named "Ocean Harbor Chinese Seafood". The inside and outside of the building were renovated. The restaurant closed on an unknown date, most likely during the late 90s.
In 2002 the building was demolished along with the rest of the shopping center it was located in. The land is now used for a new shopping center

The Winchesters 1x13 Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye Map
Great group of locations in this episode, and 100% found (though I am making an assumption that the bar location is a set - it has that look). The bus station is a beautifully restored art deco airport where you can dine at the restaurant located inside. The site of the big confrontation with the Akrida queen is an abandoned naval complex on Poland Ave that is not publicly accessible, but does have a little visibility from outside the gate on Dauphine St. There's returning locations like the Winchester Garage, the Campbell House (though the footage here is reused from 1x08) and the Carver Theater. And of course the road where Mary and John are driving during the Ramble On montage, which is on Ridgeway Blvd which runs through the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge.
Don’t see the location for a scene on the map? It was probably shot on set or a private interior. Feel free to drop a line in the ask box with questions!
Then and Now locations photos from this episode.

Ice Splash, 2475 Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA 95008
Tumblr media
Fro-yo girl here. There was something familiar about the Ice Splash space…which was formerly occupied by a self-serve froyo shop called YoDo Yogurt from 2013 – 2021. It’s in an older strip mall.
Ice Splash is still a self-serve froyo shop but also offers smoothies, ice cream, boba milk tea, fruit tea, and other drinks. Froyo and toppings are $0.52/oz, the cheapest I’ve seen in the last few years. There were 12 froyo flavors to choose from and the usual toppings (fresh fruit, cookie dough, brownies, sprinkles, candy, chocolate chips, nuts, coconut, mochi, cereal, sauces). The smoothies were cheap too, $4.95.
Froyo flavors of the day:
Euro tart: smooth, icy but not watery, tangy
Pineapple Dole whip: smooth, icy but not watery, tangy
Pomegranate raspberry sorbet
NSA strawberry
Alpine vanilla
Cookies & cream
Mountain blackberry
Bubblegum
Cable car chocolate
Very strawberry
Passionfruit orange guava sorbet
Mango sorbet
The shop was clean and service was friendly. They serve your standard YoCream flavors and Dole Whip. Toppings were covered. Ask for sample cups. They have a rewards program. Easy parking.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

The Winchester Mystery House
Tumblr media
The Winchester Mystery House is one of the most intriguing and enigmatic landmarks in San Jose, California. It's a mansion with a unique history and design that has led to numerous legends, speculations, and tales of the supernatural.
The house was once the residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of William Wirt Winchester, heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company fortune. After the death of her husband and daughter, Sarah Winchester reportedly began construction on the house in 1886 and it continued almost nonstop until her death in 1922. Legend has it that Sarah believed that continuous building would appease the spirits of those killed by Winchester rifles.
The mansion is known for its perplexing architecture. It has staircases that lead to nowhere, doors that open into walls, and windows that look into other parts of the house. In total, it boasts 160 rooms, including 40 bedrooms, 2 ballrooms, 47 fireplaces, over 10,000 panes of glass, 17 chimneys, two basements, and three elevators.
Some stories suggest that Sarah Winchester was advised by a psychic to build the house to appease spirits, while others believe she was simply expressing her grief and showcasing her personal and unique artistic vision. The mansion's unconventional design and Sarah's own reclusiveness contributed to these legends. Today, the mansion is often touted as one of the most haunted places in America.
https://www.sfbay-automaticgates.com/service-areas/
The house is now a popular tourist attraction. Guided tours take visitors through the maze-like rooms and hallways, sharing both the historical and the paranormal stories associated with the mansion. They even offer flashlight tours during Halloween and on Friday the 13th, enhancing the spooky experience.
The Winchester Mystery House has inspired numerous documentaries, movies, and TV shows. Its story has been retold in various forms, adding to the allure and mystique of the mansion. Located at 525 S Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA, the house sits on a 4.5-acre plot. It's a designated California historical landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
For those intrigued by architecture, history, or the supernatural, the Winchester Mystery House offers a unique blend of all these elements, making it a must-visit when in San Jose.

⁉️ What would happen to playing sports if there’s NO Professional left to service equipment? It cost 3X more to correct sharpenings, mountings, repair, refitting footwear, relacing, replacing older hardware, broken parts, stringing, and make replacement consumables otherwise affect ANY sports gear unusable & unsafe to wear? In San Francisco Bay Area, unless you play for SJ Sharks, Barracuda, 49ers, SF/SJ Giants, A’s, NCAA D1 teams equipment staff or have a buddy with a garage shop/mobile van sharpener, it’s just Uncle Essan remaining… Northern California LOST: - An exodus of quality coaches, sports industry people, youth hockey (and other sports) to other clubs to SoCal, other states, Canada and Europe. - Seafood City on McKee Rd - Stockton Heat (AHL) - Hockey Xsport (Oakland) - Gumper’s Pro Shop (Dublin) - Mel Cottons was the last independently owned sporting goods store that had a Winter Sports Rental & service program. - Play It Again Sports (Soquel is LAST one) there used to be 25 of them. FOUR owned by one guy, 2 in San Jose 10 years ago. - Inline Warehouse (Inside SJ Sportsplex) 7 years ago - Power Play Hockey (Next to SAP 6 years ago) - SJ Stealth (Pro Lacrosse team) - Lacrosse Store in San Jose on winchester Blvd. - Fontanetti’s (Baseball batting cages & pro shop) - Lost 10 Ice & Inline rinks in last 10 years. PS: Mike Myers still keeping INLINE Sports open inside his brother’s Patio & BBQ warehouse next to Costco in Santa Clara - he’s got tons of Hockey inventory still. Tito Essan loves his job. He gets to help people daily while having @pawdawannash the miracle rescue dog keeping him sane. STAY DRY & SAFE out there. Thanks for reading. - The peoples equipment manager.
