Are we going to get any info on how Littleleaf is doing he just heard his brother get killed and everyone he knows cheering! I feel bad for the dude 😥
i'm planning on a short comic for him in the not-too-distant future :) for now all you need to know is that he loves his brother and misses him, despite the bad he's done

Does lauraldapple at least like foolpaw? I hope she is a good mother to him
She does like Foolpaw, but... love him the way she loves Slatepaw?? not really, she's got an unfortunate bias towards her own blood. I think she was a good enough mother, but I do think that sort of favoritism showed throughout their childhood, less so than with Hollowstripe, but definitely as the second favorite kid - you still feel it ya know??? ur favs are problematic sorry - and I think Foolpaw also does hold her a little responsible but in the same way she was easier on him than other parental figures, he's softer on her because she did still treat him nicely, played games, sang songs, etc etc

So I caught my stove on fire on Monday.
I first tried to just slap the fire out with my bare hand (didn't work). I knew not to throw water on it since it was possibly electrical. I turned it off but it kept burning, and the smoke alarms in my house were working.
Tumblr media
So I tried smothering it under a pot but what I didn't realize was you can't smother that way due to air in the stove.
I realized we do not have a fire extinguisher in my house or baking soda. So I called my roommate and asked what to do.
The fire was small only on one burner and not spreading, and my roommate said to hit it with a towel until it went out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One hit and it was out crisis averted. We have since figured out the stove being as old as it was had a short and decided to go out like a viking in a blaze of glory.
And I was blaming the fact that I had bragged about being able to cook why it caught on fire just to mock me.
But my October curse of pain is in full swing already and I just hope I can survive the month.

@windpurr, in reference to this post.
Resident Human: "Well, how 'bout it, Mudpie? How many stomach aches have you had in your life?" Mudpie: "All of them. All necessary stomach aches were had by Mudpie."
Tumblr media
Resident Human: "Um... no stomach aches are ever necessary..." Mudpie: "Necessary if Mudpie wants to maintain proper snacking levels."
Tumblr media
Resident Human: *chuckles* "Oh my gosh..." Mudpie: "I know, right? Mudpie's logic is astounding."
Tumblr media
Resident Human: "That's not exactly how I would put it, but- Hey! Now what are you doing?" Mudpie: "All this talk has made Mudpie hungry. Please to be opening pretzels now."
Tumblr media
Resident Human: "You shouldn't be having pretzels right now, Mudpie, you just had breakfast." Mudpie: "Okay. No problem. Doritos will work too."
Tumblr media
Resident Human: "That's not what I meant!" Mudpie: "Allow Mudpie to clarify situation for you. One of these snacks is happening right now. Please make decision and open. Mudpie thanks you for your cooperation." Resident Human: *facepalms and laughs*

Okay, okay, look...
When I posted the Make a Mewtwo, I didn't actually have a Mewtwo pattern. I expected to get maybe two comments yesterday. I got at least 15 in the first hour.
"Well dang, guess I better get that pattern. I won't start it yet, but I can look at it."
So I get it and start looking it over, with no intention of starting it.
Tumblr media
I started it.
Still need comments 5-8. Might already have a name for it, thanks @windpurr.
I've also already started the body, so I guess this'll be the start of some progress posts.

So, Sunday’s storm
As WindPurr stated, we had quite a storm Sunday Evening. She shared a real neat pic so I decided to post some myself from my side of town.
Tumblr media
The above was as the storm was approaching. We had a beautiful sunset in the making. Like a good Texan, I was outside watching the storm.
Tumblr media
Then I blinked and lightning started. Back inside I ran.
Tumblr media
This was the big shelf cloud. GlassSlipper and I sat in the kitchen and watched it come in.
Tumblr media
It got real intense for a moment as it looked like rotation was a real possibility. I turned to GlassSlipper and said ‘Mom, get the cat.’
Then it poured! Our side of town only got pea size hail but Knitwitty said they had pingpong sized.

Ok I'm curious does Ravenstar care about his brother Littleleaf anymore? Or is he so happy to be leader he could careless?
I like his brother and I can't recall the last time we heard about him hoping he is not dead.
he cares very much about his brother, yup! and yes, Littleleaf is still alive, the guy just hasn't done much since Canarywish was born. as much as I want to give every character the spotlight, I don't have the time or energy to do that, especially if I want to keep the story moving at a reasonable pace, so Littleleaf remains unfortunately a background character

PSA: Some Info About Butterfly Bushes
Tumblr media
@windpurr
I'm sorry it took me so long to get to this. Life has been crazy of late. So... I had not heard about this myself, so I decided to look it up, and apparently, there are two major issues with butterfly bushes in many states in the U.S.:
They are considered an invasive species, and as such, they tend to take over certain areas and outcompete other plants that support caterpillars and butterflies. The result is that there are fewer sources of food to support some insect species, and their populations may suffer because of that.
They are very prolific. They make a lot of seeds and can spread very quickly to fill open areas, wherever the seeds are blown.
As far as it being illegal plant them, it is in all but two states. I happen to live in one of the states that does not have a legal ban on planting or owning butterfly bushes.
A little background about the bushes in my yard... There used to be five of them, all planted by my mother when I was a young child. We had a white one, a yellow one, a dark purple one, a blurple one, and a magenta one. For whatever reason, in the last 5-7 years or so, most of them have died off. We aren't sure whether that's because of some biological issue (bacteria, fungus, nutrient deficiency, etc.) or maybe due to extreme weather (we have been getting intense and prolonged heat waves in the Summer in recent years), but we're currently down to only two bushes.
The two we have left are the blurple one...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and the magenta one...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The magenta one is healthier and gets more flowers. The blurple one has been struggling for a while now and doesn't get as many flowers, but it's holding on so far.
Even though they aren't banned in my state, I want to thank you for letting me know that these bushes can be problematic. I always thought of them fondly, because my mother planted them. She loved butterflies, so she thought she was doing a good thing by planting bushes that would feed them. She passed away in 2017, and remembering how much she loved the bushes, I don't have the heart to rip them up. However, I will take some steps in the future to help mitigate the negative local ecological impact of my butterfly bushes:
I've learned that the spreading of the seeds is a huge part of the problem, and that this can be minimized by clipping the dead flowers before they can disperse seeds and properly disposing them. Both of my bushes have many dead flowers right now, so I will get right on that.
When and if these two bushes die, I will not replace them. Instead, I will look to plant something less invasive that will benefit local insect species.
I was going to do this anyway, since they've grown a bit spindly, but I will trim back both of my bushes and keep them to a smaller size. This will reduce the number of flowers they produce each year.
Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention, I really appreciate it! I am an environmental microbiologist and I teach environmental science, so I care very much about the environment and about lowering the negative impact I have on it. I will definitely look into what I can replace these bushes with when they die.
Have a great day! =)

Inktober #6
So I just can't today I'm dead on my feet. My job kicked my butt and stole my sanity. My anxiety has been super high all day and I got some bummer news. So today I drew Windpurr my online persona or avatar she is not a warrior cat. She just a flying cat.
I will get back to Warrior OCs tomorrow.

Warning: Spoiler!
Okay, so just got back from seeing Cats and it...wasn’t...that...bad...?
Spoilers below. This will be long.
When you go to see this, you can’t really compare it to the musical because the story is actually quiet different. It is truly a new take on the idea. I know some people are going to go in wanting to hate it but I liked it well enough. I will actually be seeing this again with Knitwitty and Windpurr on Sunday and may add more thoughts later but lets start with two things right off the bat: 1) Munkustrap is almost perfect, I mean, I could find no issue with this performance of my favorite silver tabby. Bravo Robbie Fairchild! 2) Female Deuteronomy was fantastic and not weird. Yays!
Okay, the real big issue I had: Tugger. Don’t get me wrong, there were a few times he was in character. There is this part during Bustopher Jones where he pours champagne into Bustopher’s mouth, then when he’s done Bustopher says ‘Thanks Tugger’ and yeah, that felt right. But the real issue, they did not give him sex appeal and his singing left something to be desired. It felt more like he had ADHD, which would work if he was a kitten. But as the Character he is supposed to be...not so much. His part of the Ball was odd and kinda forced. Worst of all, there was little to no interaction between Tugger and Mistoffelees. Zilch, zip, zero. He didn’t sing the song, he wasn’t even around till the end. No friendship or anything hinted at.
Leading into that: Mistoffelees. I really enjoyed this portrayal. He was adorkable and shy, really a sweetheart that I wanted to adopt. However he did lack the cheekiness that the musical and the DVD version had as well as very low in self confidence. The only thing that really bothered me was, well, he didn’t dance. There was no conjuring turn, no amazing ballet moves, non of that at all short of Ball moment. I could go on, but I want to wait till I re-watch it to make my final judgement.
Gus the Theater Cat: Perfect. Wonderful. Loved it. No complaints with Ian McKellen.
Also, Growltiger was unexpected and I was happy to see him.
Now, for a performance I dreaded but hoped wouldn’t ruin the film: Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots. Oh, boy...to much to list so I’ll stick to the big things. First off, many of her moments (as always) felt forced and out of place. Yes, the crazy cat lady moment was funny and her interaction with Bustopher wasn’t bad. Second, well, she didn’t feel like Jenny. At all. While it didn’t ruin the film I felt dissatisfied with what should have been a large role. She also didn’t tap dance.
Skimbleshanks: Wonderful performance, had the energy and fun as always. They gave him the tap dancing parts and it worked really well.
Old Deuteronomy: A pleasant surprise. I usually find myself disappointed when they switch genders on such an important character but this worked very well and Judi Dench made it a treat to see.
Macavity: Loved the crazy eyes, they really stood out and grabbed your attention. I really enjoyed his story in this retelling. At least most of the time. Later on he became kinda cheesy and not a threatening. Biggest issue was THERE WAS NO FIGHT SCENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fight scene was the big heart pounding epic score portion of Act ll and THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Also, Bombalurina worked for Macavity? As did Mungojerrie and Rumpleeazer? To be honest, the hardest thing was trying to figure out who all the non song cats were. Its harder without the wigs, they all blend together.
Grizabella, as always was a beautiful sad part that chocked me up.
And as I stated in the beginning of the post, Munkustrap was the best part of this movie and I loved every moment he was on screen. He was the one I was most concerned about and I was glad that I didn’t have to worry at all!
Oh yeah, Victoria. Not a bad portrayal of the character. She even did some ballet which made me smile. And I enjoyed the cute little thing she and Misto had. All in all, I felt like they turned her a tiny bit into a Mary Sue but that could also be because they gave her all of Jemima’s singing parts.
.....was Jemima even in the movie? Actually, was Jellylorum or Demeter there either? Pouncival? Tumblebrutus? I might have seen Alonzo maybe. Cassandra? Etcetera?
So hard to tell who is who with the sleek fur design. -_-:
I could go on but really the thing that stood out more then anything was the lack of dancing. I mean, there was dancing, but it wasn’t the jazz/ballet that made the Jellicles the Jellicles. There was some break dancing that was fine but a lot of it was more interpretive dance and kinda...boring. Seeing the cast dance has always got me energized and wanting to dance along before (bad dancing but still) however, that didn’t happen with this film.
The fiance’ was disappointed that they didn’t have the Rumpus Cat story. HE love’s  the Peke’s and the Pollicles.

26 years is a long wait.
You know, I have wanted to go to Epcot for years. Since I was 6 years old actually. In fact, to pinpoint the precise moment I direct your attention to this video.
youtube
I can remember the first time I watched this video. It had come with the Sleep Over Barbie I had gotten.
Yes, I watched this because of the epic Barbie outfits in the live show (outfits that I actually owned) but more then that, I saw Epcot.
When I realized that was a whole other park for Disney, in Florida, it blew my tiny mind!
As I grew up, I came to terms with the fact I may never get to go to Epcot.
Two years ago, Windpurr surprised me by taking us to Disneyland. When I got back, my then boyfriend now fiance said we should go to WDW one day. I agreed while thinking, ‘Disneyland fallowed by WDW in two years? Yeah, don’t be greedy’
Why share this with anyone bored enough to read my posts?
Because in 1 day, 11 hours and 43 min I will be arriving in a place I have only dreamed of going.
I’m off to Walt Disney World baby! Woot Woot!

30 Day Disney Challenge - Day 19 Your least favorite Pixar Film
Sorry Windpurr, but you knew this was coming.
Tumblr media
To be honest, I should enjoy this movie. The colors, the Celtic theme, the music, all of it should speak to my American Irish(ish) spirit.
Buuuuuut.....I don’t like it.
Most of it is our main character herself. I’m am forever annoyed at period pieces that put “Modern Feminism” into the female protagonist and call her progressive. Sorry but no. They film it like it’s okay to throw off responsibility.
I get not wanting to be told what to do, but Merida would have seen the power her mother emits her whole life. Her mama straight up walks into a brawl of huge men and they part like the red sea. They may have been the leaders but they all bowed to the queen. Merida, honey, you don’t want that power? Really?
But that can be a rant for another day.
