It had to be believable, to the last detail, and so he was starved till the brink of death. He clutched his burning abdomen, staring with wide, wet eyes as they sealed the crate, and sent him to Skree.

It was always the plan.

That didn’t mean he wanted to do this anymore than Oskar. Knife in shaky fingers, Zouzab lunged for the throat.

[S1E4 SPOILERS, BOOK 1 SPOILERS]

Thinking about the most recent Slarb scene in the Wingfeather show. Yknow the one. Where Slarb is bullied relentlessly, mocked, shoved around, and ridiculed. And, ofc, the violent fist fight he dukes out with Vop. They’re both half naked, damn does that scene have some 🤨📸 poses. And then ofc once he kills Vop he’s surrounded by angry Fangs. Slarb flees, and is immediately grabbed by Gnorm by his throat, and slammed into a wall. That very much doesn’t happen in the books, thus making the scene a lot more intriguing to watch. Slarb is fighting, clawing at the hand choking him out. One shot even shows Slarb’s feet kicking uselessly, just barely unable to find purchase on the floor. Then Slarb has to beg for freedom, using the only piece of information he has that’s useful, completely at Gnorm’s and the Fangs mercy. You can honest to god hear Slarb starting to lose consciousness.

Anyhow, those scenes have inspired me to make more Slarb whump, and maybe actually post it this time. Love y’all, stay safe.

Ah, haha, you're right they do! I hadn't really noticed that except with Kalmar, when I named them it was because their purrsonalities matched the characters. (well, except for Leeli being shy, but she was unexpectedly fiesty considering how innocent looking she is, and that is very Leeli)

I love the tv show! Well, most of it. I have a beef with the last few minutes of episode 6 specifically for leaving out a bunch of extremely important information from the book and also Janner and Peet's hug, but besides that I love it! I think that the changes they've made when translating it from a book make sense and I love all the actors and actresses they've recruited for it (which isn't exclusive to the big name ones, the kids are *flips table* SO CUTE and I think they're doing a PERFECT job with their characters).

Also I say I have issues with episode 6, but it really is just those last few minutes I SCREAMED when Peet and Nugget showed up and were fighting the Fangs. Also when Peet's talons got revealed, I was really just screaming a lot the last two episodes. xD

Okay and now that I'm thinking about it again I do not understand why most of episode 5 was Like That. The first half felt largely unnecessary when the kids could literally just have been captured with Nia and Podo like in the book (and yes they wanted to have the kids see earlier that Zouzab was a traitor to really drive that home to them, but there were easier ways to have done that) and they could have used the extra time for episode 6 and explaining the whole flight from Anniera/why Podo hates Peet/letting Peet have the panic attack he did in the book why would you not have him react to Esben's name I'm-

*cough* Anyway, I don't know if they're on this blog or my main blog but somewhere I have a bunch of posts about how I LOVE what they're doing visually to really SHOW the story and that they're building parallels for things later. Like, for example, making the Sea Dragons able to loom RIGHT over the cliff the kids are on instead of being far below when they react to Leeli's song and how that visually is going to parallel the scene in book 2 where Leeli calms Yurgen down with his song and then touches him. Like I deeply hope there are Wingfeather people capable of making gifs because when that scene from book 2 drops I'm gonna lose my mind.

I love Peet in the show. ;-; He's my favorite character and they are doing him SO fantastically well and also affirming a bunch of my headcanons so that's exciting. :D "Escape to Peet's Castle" is just *chef's kiss* perfection. I have every scene of the kids and Peet screenshotted and saved on my computer almost second by second.

And on that note I am SO excited to finally have all these characters visualized and to be able to take screenshots of them and this show is just so PRETTY my gosh. I love the character designs and the places and the lovely backgrounds.

All this being said I am waiting in fear and trepidation for season 2. Them leaving out some very important things at the end of season 1 has made me very anxious to see if they'll be able to keep doing this well. I'm worried that they're trying to go too fast and that some of the quality is gonna get sacrificed. But a lot of that is because I've been burned before by tv shows that started out AMAZING and rapidly deteriorated. But I pray for everyone involved with the show every night to have wisdom/guidance so I'm trying to trust God with it.

So, overall, I really love the show and I hope they can keep doing it well, I just have a few concerns. I'll stop now because this got long and kind of rambly. Thanks for asking!

Sobbing after the episode today. I knew it was coming, and I even called her getting taken by the carriage, even the thing about the necklace but!!! Ouch!!!! Why???? Owe!!!!!

These two frames. Wtf. I can’t get over this scene it is making me so emotions.

Slarb has such a good villain design, I love it sm. I love his character, the design, the voice, all the little quirks??

But the actual like?? Slarb? As a whole? Hate his guts. I talked abt how I want to bully him, okay. But that bullying I wish to partake in is now just. Desire to wring his stupid neck and/or kill him.

Anyways uh. At least Zouzab would never do me any harm!

[MINOR BOOK 1 + SHOW S1E1-2 SPOILERS]

Accidentally wrote 700+ words of slarb and zouzab hate fighting. Well, not really. Consensually fighting each other to stress relief? Then it ended with angst. Uhhhh. The ficlet under the cut, may post to ao3 eventually.

Cw fighting, violence, minor spoilers, + mentions blood and of wishing child harm. Fighting is mostly consensual (lol) but turns a bit dubious near the end hhhhh

This was a thing they both benefited from.

They both got to practice their fighting skills. Fighting in a non-lethal setting was good for practicing and getting better at their craft. Slarb learned the flaws of Ridgerunners, and Zouzab learned the flaws of the Fangs. They didn’t say it, but they both knew the other was figuring out ways to best their kind. They were still at war, even if now it seemed peaceful. Zouzab couldn’t get used to this comfortable lifestyle, and Slarb had no choice but to fight.

Brawling on a level playing field wasn’t just good for training to fight wars, they both learned. It was also good for, as you say, de-stressing.

Slarb fought with hatred and anger, channeling his emotions into every punch and swing. He was broiling with hate for the people around him, focusing on how they had wronged him. He hated Gnorm, he hated the other Fangs, and in their most recent brawl, a new name slipped from him in a venomous snarl.

“Igibys?” Zouzab squeaked, the brief moment of surprise leaving him vulnerable for a clean punch to the face, knocking him back into the base of a tree.

“You wish to harm the Igibys?” Zouzab repeated, ducking as Slarb launched out a foot towards him, the bark crunching under the blow.

The Fang’s shoulders were heaving, eyes wild. “Those- those bratss humiliated me!” He snapped, distracted, “made me laughing sstock!”

“But not Tink, right?” Zouzab should’ve kept quiet, but the words slipped out, scrambling backwards, eyes darting around the wooded clearing.

Slarb stopped in his tracks, regarding him curiously, “Tink? Who’s that?”

“Middle child of three,” Zouzab answered honestly, caving in on himself as Slarb slowly sauntered forward. “One with dark hair.”

“Why do you know that? Do you care for the Igiby brat?” His voice was strangely level, lacking the hate he usually carried.

Zouzab backed up, heel catching a root and tumbling onto his backside, realizing all at once he was cornered in a grove of trees, Slarb looming over him. “He, Igiby children are friends of Oskar.” He explained, finding the wall of the tree to brace himself against.

He was on his haunches, and in an effort to not seem so helpless, he started pulling himself up by his palms against the bark. Slarb sent a smoldering glare and Zouzab slumped, frightened by the pure hate in his gaze- directed at him, now.

“Friend of Osskar, not you,” Slarb said slowly, flickering his tongue, Zouzab reeling back at the sight of those nasty fangs, dripping with venom.

He averted his eyes, “well, friend of me, too. Known them for years. Eldest Igiby child read me stories, Youngest sing song, Tink... Tink give fruit, play games.”

Slarb tysked, folding his arms over his chest, “Tink is not only one with fruit.”

“He draw pictures, too.” Zouzab offered weakly, not liking to be emotionally vulnerable in front of the Fang.

Slarb growled, and a pit settled in Zouzab’s stomach. Not a good pit like from a fruit, but a bad pit. One of fear and dread, rotten to its core.

“You like them. You like the Igiby children.”

Zouzab wanted to protest, opening his mouth and then shut it. He didn’t like them! But Oskar liked them. They were Oskar’s friends, and he didn’t... he didn’t want to hurt Oskar.

Slarb punched him in the stomach. He howled in pain and surprise and tried to scramble away, fight or flight instincts firing up. Slarb didn’t let him. A clawed hand wrapped around his throat and hauled him up the tree, back scraping against the ridged bark.

Zouzab thrashed. They weren’t on an even playing ground, this wasn’t fair! Slarb held him to the tree with one hand, while his other delivered half a dozen sharp blows to his gut and chest. He was saying things, the word “Igibyss” repeatedly slipping from his jaw, but Zouzab couldn’t pay attention to it.

“Stop! Stop!” Zouzab yelled, “Stop it, time out!” He never called a time-out before, but he needed one!

Slarb stopped, only to put his hand flat across Zouzab’s torso, then sank his claws into it, dragging down.

Zouzab must’ve screamed, he couldn’t remember, for the lightning bolt of fiery pain knocked him out.

…

He woke up under the trees, laid flat on the cool grass. He groaned, his injuries becoming apparent. He lifted a hand, running it idly over his stomach, pursing his lips as he felt the scratchy bandages dressing his wounds. Slarb must’ve... Zouzab groaned again, rolling over to press his face against the soft dirt, finding solace in the scent of home. He would think about Slarb and what transpired later, but right now.. rest sounded nice.

[MINOR SPOILERS FOR FIRST BOOK + S1E1-2]

I think Slarb and Zouzab should talk. I have a scene in my head, set in the first book/first season. May rely on the plot of the first book w/ the designs from the show, if only because the show designs are so aesthetically pleasing.

But they should talk. Air is thick with fear and hatred and tension. There’s a clashing of morals, of interests. The fear of emotional vulnerability manifests as anger. They may fight, Slarb throwing Zouzab by the collar of his shirt, only to be caught off guard and fumble from Zouzab’s speed and agility.

They leave the interaction, both more stressed than when they entered it. Zouzab is now toiling with more thoughts and dilemmas than he bargained for. And Slarb is starting to.. remember. He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t want to remember.

Look I really love Nia acting like the queen in this episode, this woman straight up punched two Fangs with her bare hands and then yanked her arm away from one and gave him THIS look. If looks could kill he’d be dust.

I’m just, I can’t- I can’t with how expressive and open his face suddenly is, I can’t with how his voice BREAKS in fear and panic for them, with how seconds ago he made the FANGS afraid but that he can turn that off on a dime for these kids he loves so much I’m not okay-

Hello, I’m Zouzab! Well, not really, but you can call me that, or Ridge, if you’d like. My pronouns are any/all pronouns, except she/her. I especially like bug and flower neos.. I’m queer, an artist, a writer, and an extensive daydreamer.

Who is Zouzab, you may ask? He’s a funny fellow in the Wingfeather Saga! This is a fan account for the Wingfeather Saga, and as I’ve recently gotten obsessed with Zouzab’s new scrunkly design, I have decided I like him.

I’ve also been a big fan of Peet the Sock Man since forever, like since 2014. And also Slarb. For some reason. Don’t ask why I kin them, especially Slarb, I won’t be able to explain myself.

With the animated show finally coming out, I’ve decided to try and jump start the fandom! Or at least throw in my two cents as a lover of the original book series during my childhood.

I’m over 18, and well, I will come out and say that I am profiction, or proship as it’s also called, basically I’m anti-censorship and anti-harassment over fictional works. I’m also a csa survivor, which the wingfeather saga helped me through, hence my connection to Peet and his story.

That said, this page will remain safe for work and minor friendly. I do have an adult only page for some of my creations, which is dead dove: do not eat. If you want the @, dm me and I can provide it, as long as you are 18+
