@johnnparsons Event: An Art Auction and Larceny. Dated: 6th of April, 2024 Location: Sotheby's London, Mayfair.
She was in the middle of Mediterranean. She had her feet outstretched in front of her, a martini in hand, and Adam by her side. Everything was perfect. She leaned in, lips meeting Adam's for a quick kiss. She smiled against his mouth. Life was good. Oh, OH.. was that a tongue? She pulled back ready to chastise him, because that was for the bedroom not some Mediterranean cruise, in front of Daniel Craig... wait a second. That wasn't Adam's tongue..
She woke up to THIS and screamed!
Breathless, her hands stretched out to either side, she observed as her morning horror show sauntered back out of the bedroom, on the hunt for more Prada bags to remodel. Perhaps you once thought that gold shoulder strap was a necessity, but you were mistaken. Exhaling in defeat, she grasped her laptop and placed it on her lap. She had research to resume.
The blonde might've been in the midst of a separation, but Cecelia Hathaway was at stage five denial. She wasn't going to cry, beg, or bargain her way back into her husband's life, because to her.. she was still very much inside of it. Which is why she'd decided to call Adam's favourite charity, Great Ormond Street Children's hospital, to organise a donation. What of? Art, of course.
Her eyes settled on the piece that she had her heart set on. Was it to her usual taste? Oh, Christ, no. But this wasn't about her. This was about children. Children who were hurt and sick and wanted nothing more that to look up at their blank clinical walls and instead see a delightful Teddy Bear. Yes, this was definitely the one.
***
How delightfully, whimsy he was. She stood in front of the painting that she'd finally selected, noting down its number and placement in the upcoming auction. The price wasn't much of an issue, as she intended it to be a tax write-off, but it remained reasonable nonetheless. As she glanced around, her eyes appreciatively taking in the others who shared her passion for art on this weekend outing, her gaze suddenly fell upon him. What the hell was he doing here? She didn't take him as man who appreciated antiquities. She barely took him as man. More so a troglodyte. "Do you realize this is an art auction, not a date auction, right? I don't think they're holding another one of those until next year."
Navigating around him, she couldn't help but feel exasperated; he seemed to be occupying an excessive amount of space. She still had other pieces to peruse before the auction commenced—oh, well, too late now. Making her way over to the chairs, she noticed them beginning to fill up around her. And quite quickly too. If she wasn't careful she was going to-- Oh, thank god. At least there was one seat between them both. Sitting down, Cece cast her head forward, waiting for her prized picture to make its appearance.
"And now, we have lot number two.." They always presented the least valuable ones first. "We're asking for opening bids of $1000 pounds." She grabbed up her paddle, placing it high in the air, "$1000 pounds, here." That picture was hers.

Maria felt her body tremble, a pain resonating in her, but when she was told to go, where she couldn't fathom to watch what might unfold, her legs carried her down the hall, looking for refuge.
She managed to stumble down the hall, vision blurry by the tears that swelled in her eyes, and she could hear the voices.
"We're going to die."
"Everyone get down."
"Is she dead?"
"Fuck, we need to get her out of here."
The screams haunted her dreams, but it was always painted in red, and no matter how hard she tried to ignore the intrusions, they never left.
Her back pushed into a nook down a hallway that held some semblance of quietness, sliding down to her ass, pulling her knees to her chest.
"Make it stop...." She mumbles to herself, hating that she finally gave into her demons, facing buried into her knees.

I can always watch them every day and still love them and appreciate them on the same level that I discovered that such wonderful artists exist and how they were beautifully made. To the Chalamets , Hammers , Ledgers, Ruffalos , Gyllenhaals, accept my heartfelt thank you for supporting such films and artists that I love and appreciate the most. #findingmysolace #thespaceformyself

A rare party switch in the Missouri House could be in the offing after one Republican on Wednesday wasn’t allowed to speak against a GOP plan to restrict gender-affirming care for minors.
Rep. Chris Sander, R-Lone Jack, one of two openly gay Republicans in the Legislature, said Wednesday that local, state and national Republicans needed to decide whether gay and transgender Republicans were welcome.
“If they want to tell all Republicans who are gay to get out and go to the Democrat Party, they just need to do that,” Sander, a 2001 graduate of Hazelwood West High School in St. Louis County, told the Post-Dispatch.
Sander was one of three Republicans to vote against the restrictions, which are headed to Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, for his consideration.
House Majority Leader Jonathan Patterson, R-Lee’s Summit, and Rep. Gary Bonacker, R-House Springs, also broke with their party to vote with Democrats against the ban.
Sander, who said he is Republican committeeman for the Van Buren Township in Jackson County, said he planned to speak at the county party’s May 22 meeting.
Members of the county GOP have tried to censure Sander for filing a resolution that would overturn Missouri’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, which was nullified by a 2015 Supreme Court decision.
“I’m going to rail against them and I’m going to say how I think it should be, and if they don’t like it, they can just get rid of me, and if that happens then I’ll be an independent or a Democrat,” Sander said, adding he might also consider becoming a Libertarian if he left the GOP.
“If they kick me off that (Jackson County GOP) committee, I will not be a Republican,” Sander said.
If Sander were to quit the GOP, he would join a short list of other House members over the past decade to leave their political party.
In 2015, then-Rep. Keith English, a Florissant Democrat, said he was leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent.
“This is no longer the Democrat Party of Bill Clinton or John F Kennedy. I’m leaving the party because I love my state,” English said at the time.
English’s decision to ditch the Democrats followed another Democratic defection a day after the 2014 midterms.
Then-Rep. Linda Black, who had been a Democrat from Desloge, switched to the Republican Party a day after the election after she ran unopposed.
Her St. Francois County district had a long history of electing Democrats but voters there have bolted to the Republicans in recent election cycles.
Sander’s eastern Jackson County 33rd District is roughly 58% Republican and 39% Democrat, according to an analysis of the district’s partisan makeup.
“I can see myself winning an election as a Republican or a Democrat or an independent,” he said.
Republicans controlled 117 seats in the House in 2015 following Black’s switch.
The GOP now controls 111 seats despite continuing to hold a two-thirds majority.
Democrats hold 51 seats following Democratic Rep. Rasheen Aldridge’s resignation this year to join the St. Louis Board of Aldermen. Parson has not called a special election to replace him.

2022 Reading Roundup: Favorite Wyrd Reads
Honorable mention: Ezra Rose’s great zine FYMA: A Lesser Key to the Appropriation of Jewish Magic & Mysticism. I read this zine between The Magical Revival & selections on Babalon for occult book club. It’s stuck in my memory, stubbornly staring me in the face every time I encounter the appropriation of Hebrew & other anitsemitism in the “Western esoteric tradition” (basically all the time). Essential reading for anyone interested in the occult.

Ben Aldridge has given his verdict on his on-screen boyfriends Jonathan Groff and Jim Parsons, gushing: “I love them both!”
Looking star Jonathan plays Ben’s partner in the new horror flick Knock at the Cabin while the Big Bang Theory‘s Jim is his husband in upcoming drama film Spoiler Alert.
The Attitude cover boy said: “Jonathan and Jim are such different people. Different energies. I love them so much, both of them. They’re two of the kindest people you could ever meet, and they’re so passionate about acting as well. But not in a pretentious way.”
The 37-year-old continued: “Jim is super unique. Not eccentric, it’s his energy, his rhythm, is just very Jim. There’s no one else like him. And then Jonathan is this exuberantly open and kind human. I was surprised by just how generous they were with me as well. How welcoming they were.
“I think probably from watching Jonathan as Patrick in Looking, I just expected him to be like Patrick. But he’s spicier than Patrick and has got a bit more of an edge to him.”

Maria had stepped out to get some fresh air. After the few shots she had, at least her nerves were settled and she could try to enjoy herself. Fingers curled around the railing, eyes closed taking a deep breath. Despite the mix of attendees, she could push past all the emotions.
Her eyes flicker open when she hears footsteps behind her, turning her head to find him standing there.
Jonathan Parsons. A face she hadn't seen in a long time. One she wished to never see again.
"You," she breathes out his name.

9 December 2011 | Queen Elizabeth II meets patient Emma Underwood, aged 5 from Windsor, with Dr Jonathan Holliday as she visits the Dedworth Medical Centre in Windsor, England. The new offices of a GP practice used by Windsor Castle staff were opened by the Queen. She visited Dedworth Medical Centre in Windsor, meeting architects, builders and members of the Primary Care Trust before touring the new facility. Around £2 million was spent buying and refurbishing the building which, together with another site run by the centre in nearby Eton, has more than 11,000 patients.
