i experience jrwi shipping in a way nobody could possibly understand. i thought fnc was one big joke i didn't think people actually were rooting for them to get together and analyzing each interaction. navyseal simultaneously exists and doesn't exist at the same time to me, it's only real because of the url hivemind but also real because they're canonically t4t trust me I'm gillions top surgery. polypirates are the closest thing to explaining what I actually think about them and if i ever were to say that on twitter i would get my balls put into a waffle maker as punishment. gillion tidestrider still thinks polygamy is punishable by death so he plays off being in a qpr [LOUD DEAFENING VINE BOOM SOUND EFFECT] with his two best friends as "well that's just what co-captains do. we are pirates after all." they all hate each other. they're all [METAL PIPE FALLING] faggots‼️ theyre all t4t. the greater mana polycule is both canon and not real at the same time. jay has 12 million girlfriends. chip and gillion are both also jays girlfriends too because they arent cowards. albatrio sleep on top of each other at night stacked up like a jenga game. they couldn't imagine life without one another and they want to kill each other at the same time. nobody understands them like I do nobody gets the vision
#i make yet anothet post just for me 👍#jrwi#chip#jay ferin#gillion tidestrider#should i even tag this as any of the ships i dont want to clog the tags D:

Mr. Beast is Public Enemy #1
What is up gamers?! Welcome back to my YouTube channel (“Vine Boom” sound effect - nauseating zoom in zoom out)! (Change camera and new angle) First, let’s get energized! (edit splice for no apparent reason) Got sent this new bev - stoked to test it. (Sparkling drink animation. Shameless product placement) AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! (Echoing, sonorous, belching sound effect - also nauseating). Ok gamers - let’s take a look back. (New camera angle, saturation turned up to 1 million percent - no one knows how this is possible) I was checking out my boy’s channel (shameless plug for fellow like-and-subscribe-grubbing youtuber - new camera view, jumpy editing) and my brother was sporting some old-timey Sesame Street content (graphic jump cut to different camera, graphic - poorly animated Kermit the Frog). And I thought (jump cut to new camera - AI generated image of the Thinker) that shows just aren’t as kid-friendly as they used to be (sad violin music plays. Jump cut to new camera AGAIN and every five seconds hereafter - serious look into closeup cam). Today, gamers, we will be discussing the shift in children’s entertainment since the late 90s and how it has negatively affected children’s mental and emotional health because it hinders brain development, promotes isolation, and reduces empathy.
Children’s entertainment is not just silly cartoons kids watch between preschool and nap time; the shows and games children consume greatly impact their lives and development. Children’s media - and media people consume in general - affects everything about us. Shows like Bill Nye the Science Guy or The Magic School Bus do not just affect children’s education and learning by teaching kids, these shows teach kids how to learn and irrevocably alter how these children will interact with every learning experience for the rest of their lives (Ngo). The length and type of media affect attention span (National Library of Medicine). It also alters executive function and all higher cognitive thinking (National Institute of Health). A study conducted by Mary Louise Hemmeter at Vanderbilt University found that Sesame Street - one of the longest running shows geared towards a young audience, featuring my favorite little guys - literally teaches children kindness. The issue, however, is that Sesame Street is no longer the standard for children’s entertainment. Shows like Bill Nye the Science Guy do not exist anymore, at least not on the same scale.
Many people, usually my older brother and other old men (millennials) like him, say that children’s media peaked in the late 90s to the very early 2000s. Upon hearing this, any intelligent 2000s kid will say that our media was just as good and chalk up this sentiment to nostalgia, but this millenial assertion actually carries quite a bit of merit. Shaded with the rose-tinted glasses of childhood, every kid thinks that their shows are the best, but the contrast between what children’s media the large portion of American millennials (born 1983 - 1998) grew up with and what the large portion of American generation Z (1999 - 2012) consumed, is striking. The notion that children’s media was better in the 90s holds water for a few reasons: firstly, the 90s was really the first time when production companies started to actually care about kids’ TV and began catering to them accordingly (Chhatwal). The attention to detail allowed 90s kid’s shows to become iconic; shows like Aurthur, Blues Clues, and The Powerpuff Girls are still having lasting effects on the cultural zeitgeist, despite the original shows no longer running. The care put into 90’s shows also extended to caring about all kids, allowing these shows to be incredibly diverse in a way that children’s media had never been before. Shows like The Proud Family (which aired in the year 2000) unabashedly had a primarily black cast, or the show Static Shock which featured the first black superhero as a lead character. But the main contributor to the love of 90s shows and the vitriolic hatred of kid’s media now should be obvious: the internet.
In the 90s, the internet was something almost intangible, barely developed, and only accessed on your parent’s stationary desktop. Now, the internet permeates every aspect of our world, and children’s media is one of the largest signifiers. A 2024 survey found that YouTube is by far the most popular content platform for kids, where over 83% of kids aged 2 - 12 had watched YouTube content in the last week (Faughnder). Simply put, this is bad! There are numerous reasons as to why the progression of YouTube and kids internet entertainment negatively affects kids, but the primary reasons are incredibly similar to why children’s media is important in the first place. Children’s media on the internet is not regulated the same way Nickelodeon is (HealthyChildren). YouTube Kids is not PBS Kids. Children’s content online does not need to meet any educational standards, and according to The National Institute of Health, it doesn’t. Just like how Bill Nye changed how kids interact with their education, the internet can and is actively harming how modern children interact with all learning. The explosive, algorithmic internet also pushes content that destroys kids’ attention spans (NIH). It also, of course, alters executive function and all higher cognitive thinking (NIH). Without the same exposure to empathetic kids’ content, children are literally becoming less kind (Sevier).
This is our entire future. Children, the future of our world, are watching overstimulating, mind-melting content on loop. They are not learning, they are not growing, and we will inevitably live in an unkind, uneducated world.
My nephew is an “iPad kid.” A difficult thing to admit, truely. An “iPad kid” is a not-so-affectionate term to colloquialize all children who spend an excess amount of time on the internet, usually spending lots of time on Roblox (an online gaming website primarily for kids) and YouTube. The statistic that over 83% of kids aged 2 - 12 watch YouTube content (Faughnder) becomes much more concerning when you factor in the notion that YouTube content is becoming more and more overstimulating. Being a content creator is a job, and a YouTuber’s greatest export is attention. To keep retention rates as high as possible, YouTubers - especially kids YouTubers - make their videos exceedingly attention-grabbing. Overstimulation is a consistent pitfall of current children’s media. Content creators like Mr. Beast are obsessed with retention rates. When making a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” special to promote the movie “Wonka,” Mr. Beast allegedly asked the director of the film what his “retention rate” was. For a movie. The retention rate is, obviously, for a movie, 100%. YouTube is not like traditional television; kids can click away from a video at any time; therefore, YouTubers must find a way to counteract this. So, they make their content as attention-grabbing as possible. Current videos catered to kids are high volume and high saturation, featuring dizzying graphics and nauseating people. This causes a ripple effect to all other children’s media. Long gone are the days of the soft, soothing Little Bear - now children watch as a child and his 15 dogs with extremely bright costumes and loud gadgets defeat bad guys and serve as the only first responders and city infrastructure. And even in the PAW Patrol universe, 15 dogs is way too many! Overstimulation and short-term content is linked to a decrease in brain development and a shrinking of the frontal lobe. According to The National Library of Medicine, this content is harming children’s brain development and negatively impacting their executive function. Executive function is an all-encompassing term for vital skills needed for problem-solving, decision making, and planning. “The three main skills are working memory, cognitive flexibility and inhibition control,” (Cleveland Health Clinic). Executive function is literally how human beings, well, function! It is crucial to navigating your life and develops as we grow. It is essential that children live in an environment that fosters their brain development. Constant media consumption exists in opposition to that and has proven to hinder the brian development in children and adolescents. A study conducted to determine if fast-paced children’s shows resulted in the viewers performing worse on executive function exams found that children who watched overstimulating, fast-paced shows performed significantly worse than the children who didn’t (Lillard and Peterson). This consistent media consumption is primarily just about that: consumption. These kids can sit in front of a TV or iPad for hours and actually retain none of the information relayed to them. It is too much too often.
Some argue that digital media is not inherently harmful to children, that some digital media can actually improve executive function - which is true! Passive consumption is harmful, but active participation in digital media can be incredibly positive! A 2011 study found that when children were directly engaging with the media like video games, it actually improved their brain development (NLM). This same study also observed children with dyslexia who were tasked with playing more video games. After a week, their reading scores improved! It makes plenty of sense that video games improve brain function while watching YouTube, for example, does the opposite. In a video game, you are exercising your fine motor control and hand-eye coordination; you also must remember certain moves and skills, and, in some games, facts about the NPCs (non-player characters). Executive function is harmed by the passive consumption of fast-paced and overstimulating content. It is honestly frightening that children are constantly force-fed this content. Kids are always seeing bright colors and “Vine Boom” sound effects and it is literally melting their brains.
One center of the brain that is particularly adversely affected is the amygdala - the emotional processing center. Modern children’s media is severely damaging the emotional and mental health of children, especially through their parental relationships. One thing that set apart kids media in the 90s was family co-viewing (Chhatwal). According to Geetika Chhatwal, co-viewing is when “parents and children watched shows together, creating a communal activity that strengthened family bonds and provided a shared cultural experience.” Co-viewing is deeply important when it comes to children and their development. Research shows that children need consistent parent guidance and involvement - go figure. When a family is co-viewing a show like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, both children and their parents can enjoy it; they can laugh together, like the same characters, discuss certain episodes, argue whether or not Carlton is cool (he is) - they can find common ground. Because of how much the media we consume and engage with shapes who we are, being shaped by the same media is a crucial part of child development and familial bonds. Parents can also help children process information this way . . .
This, like most other positive and wonderful aspects of 90s media, has been so thoroughly destroyed by current popular media. It is as though Mr. Beast himself has leapt through an eight-year-old’s ipad and 360 no-scoped, a la Fortnite (an incredibly popular, online third-person shooter game that my little sister had to inform me about so I could make this joke), every parent-child bond formed through shared media. When you have one TV in your house, it is easy. You have family movie nights, you follow certain shows together - bound by a predetermined air time schedule. This becomes far more difficult when everyone has access to entertainment all of the time. Now, you are not forced to watch Will and Grace with your mom, you can just watch something else on an endless streaming service or, in the case of a growing number of adolescents, watch online video content on a smaller screen in another room, far away from any pesky parents. This is isolating. People are not meant to be all alone like this, isolated from anyone with shared interests. We are social animals! Shared media is one of the best things about being alive! It is so wonderful when 133.5 million people tune into the Superbowl to watch Kendrik Lamar call Drake a pedophile in the most viewed half-time show in history (Afrotech), but it is just as important to share media with those closest to you. According to Dou et al. with the National Library of Medicine, “Empirical evidence has illuminated the significant impact of children’s electronic media use on the quality of this relationship. Studies such as those by Zhu et al., Horita et al., and Ahmadian et al. have consistently shown that higher levels of problematic internet use among children are linked to poorer parent–child relationships.” This clearly negatively affects children’s mental and emotional health. Isolation, in any form, is dangerous, but the severe reduction in co-viewing content is a signifier of something greater: parents are not present in their children’s lives.
A lack of co-viewing does not just harm parent-child relationships, it is a signifier that these relationships are not very strong in the first place. Where I had an overworked older sister, many children are handed an ipad as some kind of pseudo third parent. Or, in some cases, only parent. An uptick in social media usage and screen time is directly associated with parental neglect (Dou et al.) This isolation and neglect can lead to consistent and lasting emotional and mental damage, anxious and avoidant attachment disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorders, personality disorders such as bipolar personality disorder and numerous other negative effects. It is not enough to have lasting emotional damage from parental neglect, however, because the content that adolescents are consuming is, in itself, greatly harming their emotional well-being!
In “Why YouTube Is Causing Young Kids to Go into Therapy and Why Parents Need to Find Alternatives to Even Youtube Kids - AT: Parenting Survival for All Ages,” Natasha Daniels explains that, as a child psychologist, she has seen plenty of parents bring in their children for insanely concerning behavior, the kind that she had only previously seen in cases of severe abuse. She prepares for the worst, only to find out that this behavior is learned online, usually on YouTube. Online platforms like YouTube are not moderated well enough for children to simply be let loose. Even platforms like YouTubeKids that claim to be kid-friendly are most definitely not. Too many harmful videos slip through the cracks! It is the equivalent of the old-fashioned leaving the television on a little too late after Cartoon Network and now it's three A.M. and your son is watching Robot Chicken. Parents are not paying attention to what their children are watching and it is hurting them both. Dou et al. with the National Library of Medicine states “A relation between electronic media use, increased aggressive behavior, and decreased prosocial behavior,” (prosocial behavior being any behavior intended to help others, including sharing, kindness, and empathy).
This links to the reduction of emotional intelligence and empathy seen in children in recent years. According to PBS, media can build empathy in young children. Watching a show with a kind character, learning about sharing, watching a beloved character cry on screen, are all things that can build empathy in a growing mind. A study done at Vanderbilt University found that Sesame Street can actually make kids kinder, promoting integral prosocial behaviors. When it comes down to teaching empathy, kindness, and general traits necessary to build community and a functioning society PBS Kids as YouTubeKids beaten. No contest. PBS is known for foundational children’s shows like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood - one of the most beautiful and heart-felt kids programs to ever exist, - Arthur, Reading Rainbow, and so many others. With contemporary content, this kindness, this wonder, is gone. Sucked dry by product placement and hyperactive obsession.
This essay should end with a final, definitive conclusion - a call to action, telling you to grab the remote and change the channel to PBS Kids’ Wild Kratts before grabbing a hammer and smashing the nearest ipad to a million pieces. But, of course, this essay will not end that way. Children’s content will continue to spiral further and further, melting more brains with every upload. And, soon enough, there will not be a PBS channel to change to. Under the Trump administration with specific orders from the president himself, PBS has lost $23 million dollars in funding, and will lose more (Mullin). This crucial service, one of the last defenses parents have against the wretched onslaught of jump-cuts, isolation, and several dogs with heavy machinery will, if president Trump succeeds, be lost. Smashing ipads is not the sort of activism needed to help this crisis - involvement in where and how we spend our tax dollars is. I cannot admonish you to turn on Wild Kratts for your neighborhood 7 year old, if the channel has been defunded. We, as citizens, must get involved and ensure quality, developmentally appropriate programming remains accessible to all children - and even for burned out ipad parents. We cannot all create content, but we can all become activists to ensure quality content creators have a stage and finding on which to create. Because, of course, our children will not be saved by Mr. Beast, they’ll be saved by viewers like you.
Thank you.

*the sound of someone rising from a grave* hey howdy i heard someone wanted me to talk about my special interest B)
This is my fourth FUCKING attempt at this tumblr kept crashing!! Anyway so sorry for adding on to this I just wanted to write the explanation to as many of these as i could if anyone wanted to see it. If I get anything wrong or I forget anything feel free to correct me!! ^_^ (I know nothing of br'aad vengolor im so sorry) ((also i'm doing this from memory))
*vine boom sound effect* FIRST LAYER
Dream smp: Charlie was a member of the dsmp!! He played an immortal slime who evolved to experience humanity (both the good and bad sides of it) and worked for Quackity in Las Nevadas!!
Smp live: Charlie was a member of smp live!! It's how he met the lunch club members originally I think and how he became a minecraft youtuber (past tense) ((derogatory))
Genloss: Charlie was in a project Ranboo is working on called Generation Loss!!! Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch generation loss. Watch the social experiments. Watch it.
Epic smp: Charlie was a member of Epic smp!! A big server that used the create mod, he joined and worked with his friends and fellow chucklers Ted Nivison and Jschlatt
Qsmp: Charlie is a member of the qsmp!! He plays a grieving father after his transgender minecraft egg daughter Juanaflippa died. He only has Elmariana left, who is his bitch wife that he forcefully assigned he/she pronouns (he hasn't logged on since the Brazilians showed up)
Origins smp: Charlie was on the origins smp!! A server where everyone selects an origin that gives them superhuman abilities. He was a slime that halved in size whenever he took damage (effectively making him tiny, but immortal) and bounced really high without fall damage
Chuckle Sandwich: Charlie was a member of Chuckle Sandwich, a podcast that originally consisted of Ted Nivison, Jschlatt, and him!! He left it a while back because he needed more time to balance other projects, but he still shows up for some guest episodes!!! Schlatt and Ted refer to him in the past tense and the running bit is Charlie fucking died <3
Corn video: Ah yes, the first example of this man breaking containment. You know the "come on down, and try some corn! Or we will sacrifice your newborn AAAAAAAA" video?? Yeah that's Charlie Slimecicle. He made it as a fake ad as part of a group school project and it ended up becoming one of his most viewed shitposts on his channel
Jort Storm: Charlie is in a d&d podcast, where his character Gillion Tidestrider had to go undercover as Jort Storm for a bit. Charlie decided to make a song on stream to intro the podcast episode and it spiraled out of control. anyway stream Jort Storm!!!!
Backrooms Installments: Charlie streamed a backrooms game with Tommy and Ranboo and edited it into a video on Slmmcl (his second channel). Said video ended up getting well over a million views, so he came back to the game with the intention to beat it. In what I can only describe as a series of baby sensory videos, it took a combined effort of 10 hours to beat a maybe 4 hour game.
Just Roll With It: (sorry I have to do the obligatory copypasta) Just Roll With It (or JRWI) is an absurdly powerful Dungeons and Dragons podcast featuring GrizzlyPlays, Condifiction, BizlyChannel, and Slimecicle available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, YouTube, and anywhere you can find podcasts!!
Favorite Puppy: During Chuckle Sandwich, a bit started where anytime someone liked something, they would say the thing was Favorite Puppy. This stemmed from one of the members (I forget who) being a weird child and naming their favorite stuffed animal Favorite Puppy
Slimecicle Cinematic Universe: AUGUFHFHHH YES YES I GET TO TALK ABOUT THE FUCKING SCU!!!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!! The Slimecicle Cinematic Universe (SCU) is an improv based story that takes place in minecraft with the Council + Jschlatt. You can find all of the videos under his "High Effort Minecraft Videos" playlist on his channel!! I recommend watching them in order to understand running bits, but if you don't want to you should watch the gods video (the worst minecraft mod) ANDDDDDD....
100 Days: THE HUNDRED DAYS SCU VIDEO!!! It's a mildly (mainly improved) planned out hard-core mod video which is staged as a first person documentary that takes place in logs Charlie has made as the apocalypse progresses. Without spoiling anything you HAVE to watch that video it took a year to make and edit and it will not let you down
Slime Story: This is Charlie's merch line!! High Quality affordable slime plushies, (with hoodies too but like they aren't as awesome as the plushie designs) with a portion of each sales profits going to an environmental effort. His most recent drop was the Anglerfish plushie, with the proceeds going to efforts to clean up the ocean and beaches :)
Lunch Club: Charlie was a member of Lunch Club, and he was a part of all of their videos before it disbanded. (He was also known as the guy who called the cops on a certain someone for being a groomer)
Slimecicle Buff Image: That image in the third layer isn't actually Charlie!! It was tweeted at him randomly and people mistook it for him. It got to the point people referred to him as "The Chulk" and Ludwig saw it and put it in a video with millions of views. Even though that image isnt of him, Charlie is actually extremely buff in real life!! (If you look at a couple Sorry Boys videos you'll see him picking wilbur up and throwing him around with ease)
Legally Blind: -2.5 and lower for a glasses prescription is considered legally blind. He has a -6. what the fuck
OG Glasses Lost: Charlie lost the rectangle framed glasses that he was immortalized in through almost every piece of fanart that exists. He lost them during his trip to Amsterdam for Tommy's old vlogs :)
*falling metal pipe sound* LAYER TWO
Eating Random Vegetables: Charlie was hungry during the first few Chuckle Sandwich episodes, so he ate literal leaves of kale off the stick because he didn't have anything else edible in the house. This started a running visual bit (audio listeners, love ya to death) where every episode he ate random vegetables that got more absurd each episode.
Smp Earth: Charlie was a member of Smp Earth!! He was Germany and he accidentally claimed France instead because he's stupid <3 (techno took over the whole earth so it didn't matter anyway)
Stingray: He's a little stupid sometimes but that's ok!! Charlie was swimming in the ocean and got stung by a stingray, and he forgot that you were supposed to pee on jellyfish stings and not stingray ones. So instead of getting medical help he took a shower and pissed on his foot.
Gay highschool:

[Image ID: A Gacha Character standing with green items imitating goop, it has text above its head for a nametag that says Charlie. He is speaking with a text bubble above him that reads: "it's my first day at gay highschool i hope they dont realize im straight" /End ID]
This image is Charlie Slimecicle. It has broken containment so many times. First posted on r/gachacringe, then tweeted at Charlie on Twitter, where he saw and replied to it. He knows this exists and I think that makes it so much fucking worse.
Drinking Uranium for 1 Month: When Charlie and Grace bought and moved into their first house together, their water filter didn't work properly, and it turns out their already high levels of Uranium weren't measured properly because the inspectors measured from the already filtered water in the sink. Charlie called separate inspectors to come and look at it and it turns out he had a shit ton more Uranium in his water than he thought and Grace and him had been drinking cancer-inducing levels of Uranium in their water for like a month!!
Crunchy Peanut Butter: did I ever tell you this guy was actually insane. because he is. I learned this through Spittake! but when the council was staying in an airbnb in Texas to film their first irl JRWI episodes, Charlie was in charge of the groceries. Bizly woke up in the middle of a night to get a snack and not only did Charlie buy crunchy peanut butter. but he bought the fucking NATURAL BRAND CRUNCHY PEANUT BUTTER. THEN HE PUT IT IN THE FUCKING FRIDGE
Dying Light: Charlie's favorite videogame series is Dying Light!! He has a whole playthrough of Dying Light 2 on slmccl that I recommend. He needs out the whole time and its really sweet :]
"Apple": Jschlatt was in the SCU playing god at one point!! He offers people apples and if you ate them you would get a horrible punishment. This is a running theme in the SCU
Hand Puppet: During a Lunch Club video, Charlie is at the zoo doing pre-determined tasks to try and win a race. He ends up buying a little hand puppet in the first few minutes and he wears it for the whole video. Pretty sure he still owns it to this day :D
300 Preying Mantises: This comes from a Twitter interaction him and Grace had where she posted "My Partner just came in the house and told me he released 300 preying mantises in our yard" and he insisted that there wasn't enough of them, it's a surprise tool that will help him later, and that they are totally fine don't worry:)
YLYL Cum Musical: During Tommy's you laugh you lose video, it took Charlie improvising an entire musical about cum on the spot to make Ranboo laugh once
Resident Evil: He played through the Resident Evil remakes on his second channel!! He's actually what introduced me to the series and got me obsessed with the games, but anyway. He already had a statue of one of the characters from the game that he bought on his own that sat in the background of his setup, but when he was shipped re8 for a partnered video, they sent him a second figurine, which used to sit in the background having self-cest gay sex with the other figurine (he made them kiss in the background)
I genuinely do not remember the screaming for 30 seconds one!! Sorry :(
My closest guess would be when he went on a ride at Disneyland and was the only person on the ride to scream with genuine terror and be completely afraid the entire ride
Slimecicle Job Interview School Project Video: Self-explanitory. He made yet another school project that broke containment and ended up getting millions of views again (rightfully so though I loved it)
Walking Dead Video: He played The Walking Dead in VR, which was fuckin hilarious and I recommend you watch it
Black Lung: Another running SCU gag!! It started from the blocks being alive video and kept going into the gods video. Anytime someone in the SCU mines coal, they get black lung!!
Skyrim in VR 500+ mods: Holy fucking shit this guys got a super computer btw. He beat Skyrim in VR with over 500 mods installed, and it was absolutely amazing it's definitely one of my favorite main channel videos by him and you should watch it. This is a threat /lh
269 Push-Ups: That one photo of him is fake, but he is crazy strong!! He had a subathon and for every sub he would do 3 push ups. He did 269 in a row before he stopped accepting the subs.
Into the End Music Video: A sick fucking animatic that was posted by yoshiiano that had the song Charlie made as an outtake for part of the Gods SCU Video
AUGUFHFHHHHHH LAYER 3!!!!!!!
"MEGA CUM BLAST!": This comes from older videos of him, but it started with the "Inside the mind of pokemon trainer players" video where he had a bit where he screamed MEGA CUM BLAST when he side b'd someone. This continued into his cuphead streams with Grizzly and then it became his sub notification (I think he changed it to the kazoo because of that one clip where Grace heard it LMAO)
YLYL Baby Bomb: During the Lunch Club's you laugh you lose with Smosh he improved a bit to make someone laugh and ripped a baby's head off to show a button that he pressed while saying "Do you like my song? Well guess what fucker this baby's a bomb!!"
"IM BABY": He had a running bit where whenever somebody would start it for him by calling him baby or whenever he would start it by calling himself baby, he would be forced to turn on his GOXLR and make his voice high-pitched while saying "I'm baby" I unironically miss this bit :((
Fireflies: There's a clip of him where he got donated the entirety of Fireflies by Owl City and he sung the whole thing ^_^
Gillions Speech: I'm only on episode 58 of riptide so far, but it's a pretty famous speech where he says I hate you a ton. Pretty fucking crazy and I cannot wait for it to emotionally destroy me
"We Haves Cookie!": A skit during one of his minecraft in vr videos where Schlatt and Traves were tax people and lied to him about having cookies to lure him out. Also broke containment and was clipped a lot
OwO *notices your bulge there*: fuck you for making me type this. Charlie made a tweet about furries. People said what the fuck, delete this please. He probably shouldn't have done that, that tweet was wrong but instead HE MADE IT A SONG.
Gigga Pudding: Yet another SCU joke!!! (kinda) This started with him getting donated the song on repeat and at a certain point Schlatt put it on his soundboard and tormented Charlie with it
Palcove: This was the house Charlie built with Schlatt, Ted, and Traves on Epic SMP. They named it the palcove because it was a cove and they are pals:)
Slimecicle Constant Set-up Change: Holy fucking shit this guy moves. A lot. He constantly travels with his set up and moves from place to place, he went from his collage dorm to the weird pool table place to his rented apartment(? I'm not sure about that one just his old and most well-known set up) to his parents house in-between moving to the weird narrow room to his current set-up
Anime Voice Camp: AUGHGHHHHH I MISS THESE VIDEOS MANN:(((( this was a series Grizzly did and Charlie was in every video. It was just a group of Grizzly's friends on discord that dubbed over anime and I recommend watching those videos!! Gives you a taste of Grizzly's humor :)
Karaoke Stream: Ah yes. The infamous stream. This guy sold a fucking youtooz based off of this, a stream where he played a Karaoke game on stream and fucked around :)
Inside the Mind of ____ Series: AUGHGHHHH I MISS THESE!!! Charlie used to make videos where he would dive inside the mind of a player of a certain character in games like Smash Bros. My personal favorite is the "Inside the Mind of Joker Players" video it fucks so hard
Until Dawn Series w/ Condifiction: I LOVED THIS MAN!!! Condi and Charlie played through most of the supermassive games together, starting with Until Dawn and ending with The Quarry. I miss these videos and I go back to rewatch vods of the streams all the time
Bees in my Mouth Song: Charlie and Grizzly played cuphead together and it took Charlie improvising a song about bees in his mouth for them to beat the queen bee boss (one of the hardest in the game)
"Coming Out" Video: Charlie comes out as a gamer to his parents. No I am not kidding. Yes I will give you the link to witness it.
youtube
FUCK HOLY FUCK IM GOING INSANE. HERES THE 4TH LAYER LOOK INTO CHARLIE SLIMECICLE'S BRAIN
Motivational Lizard: Charlie would get donated the clip of the Motivational Lizard but only the first couple of seconds before the clip would end. He only got donated the full thing once and he fake cried <3
Pool Background Being a Green Screen for only one stream: is self explanatory. He had his Pool Table Background greenscreened in as a bit
Kazoo Cover Donations: Charlie did a bit where he did a kazoo Cover for donators. This kinda evolved into his current sub notification being a kazoo!!
Br'aad Vengolor minecraft skin: Prior to dsmp, Charlie never had his own skin, instead his original skin was of his d&d character Br'aad Vengolor!! His ribbon from that skin is still somewhere on his current skin me thinks
I Play Your Gifts series: hey op this was 7 years ago and all of the videos have less than 70,000 views. How the fuck do you know about this. Anyway this was a thing he did where he played viewer submissions (games gifted to him)
"I want those two fingers shoved in my vagina!": Glad I'm not the only person who remembers this god awful quote. He does this a lot btw. A few more good examples that I'm not going to give context for is "*laughs* are- are you eating my fucking pussy??" and from litterally yesterday's stream him saying he is going to eat a character out multiple times before he remembered how that sounds and he specified he was going to eat a path out of the food they were stuck in.
LAYER FUCKING FIVE OH BOY!!!!!
I did not watch this campaign and I do not plan too!! However, Charlie played a character called Br'aad Vengolor on his first ever campaign for his absurdly powerful d&d podcast Just Roll With It. They used to have a 5th member that was the DM. Br'aad is famously extremely fucking queer and flamboyant and we love him so much <3 <3
WAR IS OVER. LAYER 6!!!!!!!!
Fuck you op. Smprompa is a fanfic that was posted during the Smp Live Era. It was about the Smp Live guys and the reason it's mentioned under Charlie is because he still fucking references it to this day, as does his whole community. I'm not talking about anything other than his death, which was ridiculous and he hated it /pos. Wilbur killed him with a guitar and stuffed his body in a fridge, which is where the slimecicle in a fridge jokes come from. I think it was originally meant to be a pun on slimecicle and icecicle
SLIMECICLE ICEBERG (made this for fun, suggestions are welcomed !!!) i know everything on this list
#oh my god im actually done#i refuse to write all of this for a 5th time please post#please please#tumblr i love you so much please#i make yet anothet post just for me 👍

Denki Kaminari x reader
Word count: 1684
Warning(s): None
A/N: CAN I JUST SAY I LOVE DENKI SM AND I’M HAVING THE HUGE DENKI BRAINROT EVER SO HAVE THIS- Also I based this off of U.A’s Sports Festival since I can’t think of any scenario. Enjoy!
Also, GIF not mine!
You sat at the bleachers, next to Tsuyu and Ochaco at the U.A’s sports festival. Your match just got done a few moments ago, you ended up winning which eased your nerves since you practically couldn’t sleep all night long.
You were very thankful you have Denki with you to spew you words of encouragement whenever you started doubting yourself as the days of the sports festival counted down.
And here you were now, you weren’t going to lie when you felt your hands get a little bit sweaty as the next match was announced, none other than Denki Kaminari himself against another student from class 1-B.
Your heart almost dropped with the sudden boom of the speakers surrounding the stadium.
“Onto the match, from the hero course of Class 1-B, Ibara Shiozaki!”
You inspected her as she walked up the stage, her hair was seemingly switched for vines and you realized that was probably her quirk. It looked pretty too.
“Versus, sparking killing boy, from the hero course of Class 1-A, Denki Kaminari!”
You couldn’t help your heart to swell as you kept your gaze locked on the blond even though his back was facing you as he slowly strutted up the stage. The stadium erupted into loud cheers and screams of encouragement from both classes as they took their stance.
“Oh, I hope Kaminari-kun could win this one!” Ochaco voices out her support, hands tangling together as she also kept watch.
“We’ll just have to see how it goes.. ribbit.” Tsuyu says, tilting her head.
“I.. trust him.” You say, giving Ochaco and Tsuyu a smile, as they quickly returned it too, Ochaco giving you a side hug as cheers from all around you could be heard.
You smiled even widely, knowing your ball of electricity of a boyfriend won’t go down without a fight.
The cheers from around you made you a little bit nervous for him, don’t get yourself wrong, you fully have his support. You know how much he struggles with his quirk so it made you a bit antsy of how this match would go.
Still, you breathed in deeply and kept your gaze on him, the view around you didn’t matter.
You stood up for a bit, going close to the railings as Tsuyu and Ochaco curiously wandered their gaze to you. You took another intake of breath, raising your hands up and cupping them around your mouth as you cheered.
“Go Kaminari! I’m rooting for you!” You saw how his head perked up instantly at the sound of your voice, head snapping around and up to search among the crowd for you, taking him only a few seconds to spot you. Heat rose to your cheeks as you both make eye contact with another despite the distance.
You saw him give a wide grin towards you, probably to reassure you that he’s got this. And of course, Denki being Denki, sends a wink your way. God he’s such an idiot and you love him.
You never returned to your seat since you were 100% sure you weren’t able to sit still.
Once he had his back turned to you again, you watched.
“Anyway, staaaart!” Present Mic spoke, his loud booming voice slightly made your ears cringe.
You watched as your boyfriend fixed and straightened himself up, then getting into a stance. You were lying if you thought this didn’t made you fall for him more, his determination sometimes makes your heart blow a fuse.
You saw by his actions that he was probably talking off his mouth again.
“.. This match would probably be over in a second!”
And by that, you saw how bits and bolts of electricity ran through his body, blond locks flowing up as he swiftly moved.
“.. Indiscriminate Shock...”
You bit your lip as your heart made erratic beats. You know where this was going and you could only hope for the best.
“1.3 Million Volts!” His arms punctually raised and was rapid to be bought down as electricity coursed throughout him spreading towards his opponent.
You had your fingers crossed as the scene played out freely in front of you.
The 1-B student was quick enough to turn around, bowing her head down and mumbling a sort of prayer before her vines moved, creating a huge vine wall that shielded her off of Kaminari’s quirk quickly.
Your eyes widened as you snapped your gaze back to your boyfriend who seemed to be still.
Oh crap
A cracking sound could be heard as the stage’s ground split open, revealing green vines right in front of Kaminari, effectively surrounding him and trapping him in a cocoon of some sort but with vines as he was helplessly lifted up into the air.
And you knew he also didn’t have the time to move since the drawback of his quirk held him back.
Crap
“Now that was instant! An instant win!” Present Mic seemed to be having fun commentating while to you it seemed like all the sound drowned out as you could only keep your gaze to your boyfriend, who was currently in mid-air in a cocoon of vines–
“Shiozaki advances to the second round!” One of the teachers, Midnight, announced, pointing towards 1-B’s side of the stage.
Cheers erupted again, you pouted but shook your head, the match being the least of your worries as you were too preoccupied staring at Denki. He was visibly shaking, well that always happens whenever he short circuits, and every time that happens, you worry.
You didn’t realize the iron grip you had on the railings, your knuckles turning white.
“Man..” You mumbled, a bit of sadness bubbling inside you.
“What’s that? Didn’t he say he’d settle this in a second? That’s strange, he was defeated in a second, wasn’t he?”
And now that sadness was quickly replaced with anger, you were fuming. You didn’t even get that angry easily but when someone talks like that, especially to Denki, you were ready to fight.
You snapped your gaze up next to class 1-B, seeing Monoma crept up against the wall with a shit-eating grin plastered to his face. And honestly? You wanted nothing more but to burn him on the spot, but you shook your head.
Maybe just a punch will do–
“Class 1A is supposed to be better than–“ He didn’t get to finished his sentence as Kendo struck him on the neck, effectively knocking him out as her face appeared.
“Sorry!”
1A just sat frozen at what just happened but you were still fuming.
After Monoma got knocked out, Denki was carefully set back down, Shiozaki’s vines retreating back to her head.
Denki was placed on a stretcher as his arms retreated back and forth with a thumbs up, you pouted as you saw your boyfriend in his shortcircuit-ed state. You knew he was off to get sent to recovery girl and you were just about to make a beeline for it when Ochaco grabbed your wrist, sitting you down for a moment.
“Calm down Y/N, I’m sure Kaminari-kun would just be fine, he has handled a lot of those, right? You can just visit him later, stay with us!” Ochaco pleaded which you agreed with a heavy sigh.
You sat back down, trying to get as comfortable as you could but you couldn’t get the thought of Denki out of your head.
Although Izuku’s mumbling about the match along with the sound of his pen scraping against his burnt notebook got you and Ochaco snapping your gaze at him with a crazed look.
A few matches passed, with each second filling you up with more worry. As soon as you heard there was a quick break, you bolted upright, excusing yourself from your classmates as you ran throughout the hallways, spotting recovery girl’s clinic.
Please be fine, please be fine, please be fine
You knew he could handle it and that he’ll be back to normal after a while but you just couldn’t help it.
You quickly stepped inside the clinic, alerting a few students that were there to either rest or get their injuries taken care of.
You mumbled a quick ‘sorry’ as you rushed to find Denki.
You finally spotted him sat on one of the clinic beds, arms still but he still had his thumbs up.
“Hey, Denki.. baby..” You softly greeted, inching close to him.
“Whiee–“ He wheezed out, it made you giggle a bit as you stood in front of him, hand reaching out to brush a few of his hair, playing with the black streaks as he continued to mumble yay’s and whiee’s.
With a sigh, you shook your head. “You really worry me sometimes, you idiot.”
You sat next to him and waited until his yay-mode died down.
“Mhrmghm.. H-huh? Y/N? Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be watching with them?”
Aand he was back.
You beamed, arms instantly opening to engulf him in a hug, burying your face in his chest. He was quick to return the action, arms wrapping around you and placing a soft kiss to your head.
“You had me worried back there.” You said, voice being mumbled because your face was still pressed onto his chest.
He lets out a laugh, hand coming up to brush your back up and down.
“You know how my quirk is, right baby? Look, I’m back now, everything’s fine, alright? Your man is back.”
You rolled your eyes but laughed nonetheless, face retreating from his chest and facing him.
You looked around for a bit, seeing that the others were busy so you quickly pecked his lips, both of you blushing lightly.
“Why don’t we go back there and watch with them, okay? Then we can head back to the dorms after its over then we can cuddle, sound good?” Denki suggested, to which you nodded happily. Getting off the bed and pulling him right with you.
“Sounds like an awesome plan to me.”
And by that, you walked hand-in-hand back to the bleachers to watch the remaining matches and events.

Covid-19 Trends on TikTok by Danielle Fields
Although social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, have majorly grown in popularity in recent years during the digital age, the covid-19 pandemic brought TikTok, a video-sharing platform in the vein of Vine and Musical.ly, to the limelight. One of the main effects the pandemic has had on life during 2020 and 2021 is that millions of people around the world had to comply with quarantine and social distancing procedures, meaning there was limited face to face contact and communication. TikTok, being a social media platform with a large focus on the creation and sharing of personal videos, therefore had a boom in popularity during this time. In addition to the platform itself becoming an instant hit with social media users, many different types of videos having to do with coping with the pandemic became viral. Some of these include videos in which outdoor locations are shown with pretty music being played in the background(https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYrJe8/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYWuQk/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYokym/), videos in which the only text shown are positive, reinforcing statements promising the viewer that they are okay and things will be better (https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYqtAy/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYtWaF/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYpHyA/), and videos focusing on both the humorous/serious and relatable aspects of the effects the pandemic has had on people’s professional and personal lives (https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYK5XM/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeSYVh8Q/, https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeS2PsgF/). With each of these categories in mind, it is clear that TikTok’s trending videos within the past year have approached the topic of the covid-19 pandemic in ways involving escapism, positivity, and emotional validation.
Despite having so many elements related to coping with the pandemic packed in these viral videos, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Videos on TikTok are a minute long at the most, and the first couple seconds of a video must be compelling enough to catch the attention of the audience in order for them to stay and watch it in its entirety. For a TikTok video to be compelling, its content usually has to be open enough for the typical social media user to instantly relate to it. As Scott McCloud writes, “when you look at a photo or realistic drawing of a face … you see it as the face of another. But when you enter the world of the cartoon … you see yourself”. McCloud argues this about photorealistic faces versus smiley face drawings, though the same goes for the way in which TikTok videos become hits: the less specific and more generalized, the more your audience will emphasize and relate with you. For each of the viral video categories listed above, each of them include content which is widely accessible and relatable to a large number of people dealing with the pandemic, so it would make sense that they have become popular in this respect. Building upon this foundation of immediate relatability in TikTok videos is the inclusion of an easily accessible comment section in which the audience may read and respond to others’ reactions to the video’s content. Danny Kaplan describes this as a “staged display between two or more actors in front of a third party” or, in other words “public intimacy”. It is not simply just the TikTok video content which creates a viral hit, but the way in which people interact with each other in relation to it. So, “while audience members may choose to remain passive lurkers as in a standard theater setting, the dynamics of public intimacy encourage some of them to react” (Kaplan). Put differently, when the audience is exposed to friendly discussion about a video they enjoy, they may feel more driven to voice their own thoughts about it with others, therefore giving more of their attention and energy to it and driving up its value, making it a contender to become viral. It is in this way that trending videos on TikTok, especially those relating to coping with the covid-19 pandemic, have become viral.
With this in mind, it is clear that although the pandemic has largely kept people apart physically, we are definitely not isolated online. When people come together on social media to share their thoughts and experiences and to listen and respond to others’, they are practicing online sociability, something very much needed for a TikTok video to trend. Ralph Schroeder describes this in greater detail, writing that “in social media, unless mutual attention is paid, there is no bond or shared emotional mood, which is a prerequisite for both off- and online sociability … social media must be regarded as authentic, as personal, in order to count as part of socializing.” This may be the reason so many people have turned towards TikTok during the pandemic: “we participate because it makes ourselves and our lives visible to others” and because “our identities are interconnected with the way our voices are valued” (Carah and Louw). Hence, trending and viral TikTok videos related to coping with the covid-19 pandemic gain their popular status because they allow TikTok users to express themselves and find emotional validation through online sociability from doing so.

Did you know that locally and responsibly harvested shellfish is one of the most environmentally sustainable forms of animal protein you can eat? If you’re seeking low-carbon, eco-friendly food options to indulge in during Earth Month and beyond, the fruits of our local seas have a bounty of gems to offer. The cool waters of Long Island Sound and off New York’s marshy, rocky coastline support a rich variety of shellfish that has been making a comeback in recent decades thanks to improved water quality and restoration efforts. However, of all the native mollusks gracing the menus of raw bars and seafood restaurants, there is no shellfish more iconic to New York than its local oysters. “The Big Oyster” When Henry Hudson sailed into New York Harbor in 1609, there were 350 square miles of oyster reefs stretching in every direction and supporting up to half of the world’s oyster population. Huge, plump oysters growing up to 10 inches long could be easily plucked out of the water and eaten fresh like fruit off the vine. By the 1800s, oysters were the most ubiquitous and popular food in New York City with an average of one million bivalves consumed each day! Rich and poor alike splurged on the shellfish and enjoyed it raw, cooked, fried and as succulent fillings in pies and stews. For an entire century, the port of New York was known as the oyster capital of the world, with millions of discarded shells used to pave its roads and make mortar and lime to fuel the city’s building boom. Billion Oyster Project Unfortunately, this unsustainable consumption — combined with habitat destruction and sewage pollution from the growing metropolis — decimated wild oyster populations with the last New York City oyster bed closed for harvesting in 1927. Fast forward to today and, since 2008, a non-profit organization called the Billion Oyster Project has been working to reintroduce oysters into New York Harbor. The project uses discarded shells donated by restaurants to construct new reefs that are seeded with baby oysters. So far two million shells have been collected, 16 acres (65,000 m2) of reef area has been restored, and 100 million live oysters have been reintroduced. These oysters and the reefs they form will sequester carbon, mitigate water pollution, increase marine biodiversity and protect the city’s shorelines from storm surges, erosion and the ongoing effects of climate change. Blue Point Oysters While the oysters repopulating New York Harbor will remain unsafe to eat for many years to come due to the poor water quality, oysters harvested from the coast of Long Island Sound are considered some of the best in the world. Originating from the town of Blue Point situated on Long Island’s Great South Bay, Blue Point Oysters are the most famous of New York’s oyster varieties and have been a fixture on restaurant menus since the early 1800s when they were fished wild. A type of Eastern Oyster (Crassostrea virginica), these medium-sized yet meaty mollusks are prized for their mild flavor, high brininess, satiny texture and sweet finish. These days, the Blue Points that you encounter in local restaurants and farmers markets are farmed instead of harvested wild. There are multiple thriving oyster farming operations along Long Island Sound including the oyster beds of the Norwalk Island chain in Connecticut. Whereas some types of seafood agriculture can be harmful to the marine environment, shellfish aquaculture is a sustainable, green industry that has a positive impact on the local ecology. Growing oysters requires no water, feed or fertilizer and creates almost zero greenhouse gas emissions. Similar to reefs, aquaculture gear provides structure and protective habitat for fish and, when oyster larvae escape from cages, they help to seed the wild oyster population. Furthermore, farmed oysters filter and remove excessive nitrogen from the water helping to improve its quality. So, if you’re looking for a source of protein that is delicious, nutritious, low-calorie, locally sourced and comes with multiple positive side effects on the environment, Blue Point Oysters check all the right boxes. Plus, these shiny, briny little gems are readily available from your farmers market fishmonger year-round — all you need is your own shucking knife, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a spritz of hot sauce.

MrBeast:
Welcome to your final test, I'm MrBeast.
We can scrap the 'S' cuz I've never missed a beat!
You had to cut from honey under threat of a gun blast;
When I had a cut from Honey, that's another check that I'm gonna cash!
You're coming last, Number 1 is Jimmy; only dub you have is horribly written.
You're accomplished 'cuz you fought the opposition and became the best,
But the consequences that you've got to live with
Is you paved their deaths all to pay your debt, I applaud you Gi-Hun!
In the diss game, you won't get rich.
I'm like your momma: I'm dead sick!
Then check the gaming channel, millions of children watch it.
How'd you win all that Won, kid, but not custody of one kid?
Did ya think you'd get her back with that lighter you bought her?
You're playing tug-o-war with your ex, but the rope is your daughter (Ooh!)
So stupid, Sang-woo showed you the light; you didn't go to SNU, that's right.
If the task was last to get backstabbed by a pal, you wouldn't make it through the night!
When I feast I don't need a suit and tie, wrapping with gold like the food I try!
Utter a word then you will die, save those subs for PewDiePie! Seong Gi-hun:
So this is the next test they'll make us fight in for survival?
But instead of a kiddie game, we'll be playing this manchild? (Hmm?)
Your career's fragile like glass, I will smash it if you push me.
Made your fortune from subscribers, now give them their fucking cookies!
You've done all this good, you fed lives in need right 'till they get by each time,
Gave islands, sweet rides, let high trees thrive, set headlines being nice when you spread vibes.
Teens hype it and then buy MrBeast line, so you make ten times what you leave guys,
Only ever "moving" when you're in set sight of a keen child, like an anti-red light green light!
Don't talk about loyalty, you don't get any!
You're like "I Spent At Least Ten Thousand Dollars Renting People Out To Pretend To Be Friends With Me"!
I wondered why VIPs had to hide their face behind plastic,
Now that I see this bastard, I get what the point of the mask is! MrBeast:
I just replaced all of Gi-Hun's surviving friends with Legos!
Uhm, Jimmy… there aren't any Legos.
(Vine boom sound effect) (Hahahahahahaha!)
For a 'critique on greed', it seems ironic,
Your show sold out like it's stock from shopmrbeast.com, bitch! Seong Gi-hun:
(Yuh!) You spent 24 hours in a bunker, another 24 inside of a fake prison,
And over 50 hours in a coffin; could you do us all a big solid and stay in it?
Spending a minute with the Jeff Bezos for daycare kiddies is a challenge that I couldn't be paid to be in.
You can't make good lines, I won't stay within them; like Jake the Viking, I'm straight up leaving! MrBeast:
Let's hope that you didn't bet all of your money on winning this fight now,
Cuz a lot like your job, if that happened, you're likely to die in my fire and strike out.
Join Team Seas and clean that garbage past you deem so awful!
You lost everything to a pensioner who lost his fucking marbles! Front Man:
I make the calls in this torture-ridden place,
You only got balls in an Orbeez giveaway.
It's a real manhunt, you don't got the courage to beat me,
Go hide in your nerdy Dream streams.
We've got more beef than your burger meat, Beast.
Plotting more seeds in your girl than Team Trees!
Pictured a world where equality rules,
That's not just a pic you can fly to the moon.
Got no firepower against my roster,
Don't you "identify" as an attack helicopter?
You said hi to your brother with a brand new channel,
I said bye to my brother with a mag of ammo!
So go cry to your momma in an ad to pack dough!
You'd ditch your morals to put your hand on Lambos!
Can't handle the truth: if you run out of money, you run out of your personality too.
Out of 100% of your viewers, nobody watches your channel for you!

DC locks down a week before inauguration (AP) All through downtown Washington, the primary sound for several blocks was the beeping of forklifts unloading more fencing. There were no cars or scooters and seemingly no tourists Wednesday, just the occasional jogger and multiple construction crews at work. The U.S. Capitol that proved such a soft target last week was visible only through lines of tall, black fence. Two blocks from the White House, a group of uniformed National Guard troops emerged from a tour bus and headed into a hotel as a state of lockdown descended on Washington that will last through the Jan. 20 inauguration. More than 15,000 National Guardsmen from multiple states, some of them armed, will be in Washington. “Clearly we are in uncharted waters,” said Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser. The FBI has warned that armed protests by violent Trump supporters were being planned in all 50 state capitals as well as in Washington for the days leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. Between the pandemic and the security threat, Bowser is flat-out asking people not to come to the District of Columbia for the inauguration.
Republican Party faces rage from both pro- and anti-Trump voters (Reuters) After riots at the U.S. Capitol by President Donald Trump’s supporters, the Republican Party is facing defections from two camps of voters it can’t afford to lose: those saying Trump and his allies went too far in contesting the election of Democrat Joe Biden—and those saying they didn’t go far enough, according to new polling and interviews with two dozen voters. And the choice confronting party leaders as they ponder a renewed impeachment effort—whether to continue backing Trump or make him a pariah—will almost certainly cost the party voters it needs to win future elections, Republican party officials and strategists say.
A tinderbox (The Media Today) Sam Lessin, an early Facebook staffer, wrote at The Information that “the move by social networks to deplatform President Trump last week was the right call.” But he added that the moment will be “remembered as a watershed moment for the history of free speech and the globally open internet. It has the potential to be a tinderbox that undoes the core of the internet as we know it.” Lessin says the moves will “create intense pressure to censor private messaging (starting with email) and that other countries will “now have a very legitimate argument they need their own control” of information platforms, and even the internet itself.
Defiance of virus dining bans grows as restaurants flounder BORING, Ore. (AP)—A line formed out the door during the lunch rush at the Carver Hangar, a family-owned restaurant and sports bar, and waitresses zipped in and out of the kitchen trying to keep up with orders as customers backed up in the lobby. Indoor dining has been banned in much of Oregon for nearly two months, but the eatery 20 miles southeast of Portland was doing a booming business—and an illegal one. The restaurant’s owners, Bryan and Liz Mitchell, fully reopened Jan. 1 in defiance of Democratic Gov. Kate Brown’s COVID-19 indoor dining ban in their county. “We’re not going to back down because our employees still need to eat, they still need that income,” said Bryan Mitchell, as customers ate at tables spaced 6 feet apart. “The statement that we’re making is, ‘Every life is essential. You have the right to survive. Nobody should tell you what you can and cannot do to provide for your family.’” Even as coronavirus deaths soar, a growing number of restaurants in states across the country are reopening in defiance of strict COVID-19 rules that have shut them down for indoor dining for weeks, or even months. Restaurants can serve people outside or offer carry-out, but winter weather has crippled revenues from patio dining.
Colombia struggles to keep social leaders safe (AP) Just taking a walk in the streets of Colombia’s capital can feel dangerous for Luz Nelly Santana. The Afro-Colombian community leader always wears a bulletproof vest. And she’s followed by a bodyguard assigned by the government. “I get death threats on the phone every month,” Santana said, “and once a man entered my office and said he was going to kill me.” Santana, who runs an organization that helps community leaders fleeing violence to settle in Bogota, is one of more than 3,700 activists given some sort of protection from Colombia’s government. The country is widely seen as one of the world’s most dangerous places to be a community leader or advocate for human rights or environmental issues. Last year 120 community leaders were murdered in Colombia according to the U.N.’s High Commissioner for Human Rights. Decades of bloody civil conflict involving government forces, leftist guerrillas, right-wing paramilitaries linked to landowners and powerful drug trafficking groups have created an atmosphere in which many factions feel little hesitation at trying to kill or intimate those who oppose them.
‘At 6 p.m., life stops’: Europe uses curfews to fight virus (AP) As the wan winter sun sets over France’s Champagne region, the countdown clock kicks in. Laborers stop pruning the vines as the light fades at about 4:30 p.m., leaving them 90 minutes to come in from the cold, change out of their work clothes, hop in their cars and zoom home before a 6 p.m. coronavirus curfew. Forget about any after-work socializing with friends, after-school clubs for children or doing any evening shopping beyond quick trips for essentials. Police on patrol demand valid reasons from people seen out and about. “At 6 p.m., life stops,” says Champagne producer Alexandre Prat. Trying to fend off the need for a third nationwide lockdown that would further dent Europe’s second-largest economy and put more jobs in danger, France is instead opting for creeping curfews. Big chunks of eastern France, including most of its regions that border Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, face 6 p.m.-to-6 a.m. restrictions on movement. Overnight curfews have become the norm in swaths of Europe but the 6 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew in 25 regions of eastern France is the most restrictive anywhere in the European Union’s 27 nations. Others countries’ curfews all start later and often finish earlier.
Facing New Outbreaks, China Places Over 22 Million on Lockdown (NYT) When a handful of new coronavirus cases materialized this month in a province surrounding Beijing, the Chinese authorities bolted into action. They locked down two cities with more than 17 million people, Shijiazhuang and Xingtai. They ordered a crash testing regime of nearly every resident there, which was completed in a matter of days. They shut down transportation and canceled weddings, funerals and, most significantly, a provincial Communist Party conference. By this week the lockdowns expanded to include another city on the edge of Beijing, Langfang, as well as a county in Heilongjiang, a northeastern province. Districts in Beijing itself, the Chinese capital, also shut down. More than 22 million people in all have been ordered to remain inside their homes—double the number affected last January when China’s central government locked down Wuhan. The flare-ups remain small compared with the devastation facing other countries, but they threaten to undercut the success the country’s Communist Party has had in subduing the virus, allowing its economy to surge back after last year’s slump and its people to return to something close to normal lives.
The rise of Chinese financial technology (Foreign Affairs) China’s emerging dominance in financial technology, known as “fintech,” poses a fundamental problem for the United States. Washington cannot trust that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will harness its growing influence in financial markets for the benefit of all. More likely, Beijing will use fintech to occupy the high ground in global commerce, bolster its surveillance state, and lay the groundwork to challenge the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency. The rise of Chinese fintech companies threatens to strengthen the world’s most pervasive surveillance state. The so-called data exhaust from billions of digital transactions supplements existing data from facial recognition, search histories, and social network connections, furnishing the CCP with GPS time and location stamps, transaction histories, travel logs, bank account details, and more. Together, this information allows Chinese authorities to closely monitor and control specific individuals and communities by reducing or canceling access to bank accounts, freezing travel routes, and denying entry to specific locations. Ominously, financial authorities in Hong Kong have recently begun asking banks to report transactions to help authorities identify pro-democracy activists.
“But in America…” (Foreign Policy) Chinese state media is still focused on the dysfunction revealed by the assault on the U.S. Capitol last week. As with Soviet propaganda about U.S. racism, Chinese propaganda is most effective when it goes after genuine U.S. failings. But the media has bent the Capitol story significantly toward Beijing’s own needs. Emerging themes include the chaos of democracy, the righteousness of China’s own censorship, and that the United States is making a mistake by going after China instead of fixing its domestic problems. One theme has especially resonated, though: guns. Like most of the world, the Chinese public views the U.S. attitude toward firearms with horror. The sight of armed marchers baffles people. In China, the issue has tragic salience in the death of Yiran Fan, a talented Ph.D. student in Chicago who was killed on Jan. 9 during a gun rampage.
‘Rent-a-person who does nothing’ in Tokyo receives endless requests, gratitude (Mainichi/Japan) A 37-year-old Tokyo man who says he rents himself out to other people “to do nothing” has been inundated with gratitude from Twitter users. “I’m glad I was able to take a walk with someone while keeping a comfortable distance, where we didn’t have to talk but could if we wanted to,” one user wrote. Another reflected, “I had been slack about visiting the hospital, but I went because he came with me.” Shoji Morimoto has been advertising himself as a person who can “eat and drink, and give simple feedback, but do nothing more,” since June 2018, and has received over 3,000 requests. He has about 270,000 followers on Twitter. Initially he had offered his “rent-a-person who does nothing” services for free, but he now charges 10,000 yen (roughly $96) per request. People rent him for various reasons. At times he will participate in a gaming session to make up numbers, turn up to send off people who are moving away, accompany those filing for divorce, or listen to health care workers who have become mentally unwell due to their exhausting work. It may be the case that somewhere in their hearts, everyone is longing for someone who will cheer them on. It seems that this may be why the “rent-a-person who does nothing”—who doesn’t tell you to “do your best” or that they “support you,” but stays by your side in silence, has seen endless demand.
Fire destroys homes of thousands in Rohingya refugee camps—UNHCR (Reuters) A huge fire swept through the Rohingya refugee camps in southern Bangladesh in the early hours of Thursday, the United Nations said, destroying homes belonging to thousands of people. The U.N. Refugee Agency (UNHCR) said more than 550 shelters home to around 3,500 people were either totally or partially destroyed in the blaze, as well as 150 shops and a facility belonging to a non-profit organization. More than a million Rohingya live in the mainland camps in southern Bangladesh, the vast majority having fled Myanmar in 2017 in a military-led crackdown the U.N said was executed with genocidal intent, charges Myanmar denies.
Lebanon begins all-day curfew as virus spins out of control (AP) Lebanese authorities began enforcing an 11-day nationwide shutdown and round the clock curfew Thursday, hoping to limit the spread of coronavirus infections spinning out of control after the holiday period. For the first time, residents were required to request a one-hour permit to be allowed to leave the house for “emergencies,” including going to the bakery, pharmacist, doctor, hospital or airport. Authorities came under pressure to take a tougher approach after the country’s hospitals ran out of beds with daily infections reaching an all-time high of 5,440 cases last week in the country of nearly 6 million people. Even before the coronavirus, Lebanon was going through an unprecedented economic and financial crisis that has seen its national currency and bank sector collapse and locked depositors out of the savings. Hospitals, long considered among the best in the Middle East, struggled to pay staff, keep equipment running and secure necessary medical supplies as dollars grew scarce. Furthermore, the country has been without a government since the old one resigned in the wake of the catastrophic Aug. 4 explosion at Beirut port, which put a further strain on hospitals, inundating them with injured. At least three hospitals were destroyed.
Central African Republic soldiers repel rebels at capital (AP) Security forces in Central African Republic repelled attacks by rebels trying to seize the capital early Wednesday after intense fighting on the city’s outskirts, officials said, in a major escalation of violence that has rocked the country since last month. At least one Rwandan peacekeeper has been killed, and another injured, according to the U.N. mission in the country. At least 30 rebels have been killed, according to Prime Minister Firmin Ngrebada. The rebels are protesting the re-election on Dec. 27 of President Faustin-Archange Touadera. Following the Jan. 4 announcement of Touadera’s victory, the rebel coalition threatened to take the capital. They had also taken towns in other parts of the country before the election. The army is supported in its battle against the rebels by forces from Rwanda, Russia, France and the United Nations.
Lack of Tiny Parts Disrupts Auto Factories Worldwide (NYT) Automakers braced for turmoil when the pandemic hit. They expected supply chain disruptions and plummeting sales. But they never figured that a year later one of their biggest problems would be PlayStations. Strong demand for gaming systems, personal computers and other electronics by a world stuck indoors has sucked up supplies of semiconductors, forcing carmakers around the world to scramble for the chips that have become as essential to mobility as gasoline or steel. Virtually no carmaker has been spared. Toyota Motor has shut down production lines in China. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles temporarily stopped production at plants in Ontario and Mexico. Volkswagen has warned of production problems at factories in China, Europe and the United States. Ford Motor said last week that it was idling a Louisville, Ky., factory for a week because of the shortage. When Covid-19 hit, automakers slashed orders for chips in anticipation of plunging sales. At the same time, semiconductor makers shifted their production lines to meet surging orders for chips used in products like laptop computers, webcams, tablets and 5G smartphones. “Consumer electronics exploded,” said Dan Hearsch, a managing director at the consulting firm AlixPartners. “Everybody and their brother wanted to buy an Xbox and PlayStation and laptops, while automotive shut down. Then automotive came back faster than expected, and that’s where you get into this problem.”

How to Look Great on Facebook Live Video
Everyone is doing live video these days. I understand that people want to be authentic and share organic moments of brilliance from anywhere, but unless you want to look like some reporter on 60 Minutes is trying to conceal your identity, I suggest that you set up a professional mini studio, with audio and lighting you can control. You can easily set up studio in your office or home with professional equipment. Then when you want to be on camera, you can make yourself look like a million bucks. There is nothing worse than watching LIVE video without adequate lighting and quality audio. It can turn your viewers off. But never fear… Amazon can have you looking and sounding like Broadcast TV in no time. Here are a few suggestions for how to look great on Facebook LIVE:
Audio and Lighting Tools for Mobile Devices
Audio Mic
Earphones Cloudio J1 Noise Cancelling Earbuds with Microphone Noise Isolating Earbuds Super Bass Earbuds. These ear buds have noise cancellation/isolating and less than 1% distortion rate. High quality built-in microphone for crystal clear conversation in any environment.
Video Lighting for iPhone or Samsung Devices
Try this mini ring light with a rechargeable battery. It’s perfect for Selfie LED Camera Light for iPhone, iPad or Samsung Galaxy Phones.
Home/Office Studio Gear
When it come to setting up a studio in your business office or home, there are a few things to consider. Where can you set up your shot? Do you have a nice clean colored wall or book shelf to use as a backdrop? Do you have a stand, table or desk for your laptop that will be at eye level? (You don’t want the camera looking up your nose.) Will you have help to set this equipment up? Most of the equipment is fairly self explanatory, but you also need to make sure your computer is in the right place.
18-inch Ring Light Kit
Neewer Camera Photo Video Lighting Kit: 18 inches/48 centimeters Outer 55W 5500K Dimmable LED Ring Light, Light Stand, Bluetooth Receiver for Smartphone, Youtube, Vine Self-Portrait Video Shooting
Now I’m a firm believe in 3-point lighting which means you need at least two more lights, and if you have a backdrop, it’s best to light that too.
3 Point Lighting Kit with Soft Boxes
Fovitec (3) 20″x28″ Soft box Lighting Kit w/ 2500 W Total Output – Includes Boom, Stands, Soft boxes, Socket Heads, 11x 45W Bulbs
I like this 3 light kit because it has a boom stand that allows you to put lighting above your head which will produce a nice balanced effect. The benefits to a soft box is that it produces light which is more even than light coming from an umbrella. A soft box emulates the soft, directional lighting usually produced by natural window light. It softens and diffuses the lighting by transmitting the light through a diffusion panel.
If you would like to have a microphone that you plug directly into your computer, try this one.
USB Microphone for Mac and Windows Computers.
FIFINE Microphone is Optimized for Recording, Streaming Twitch, Voiceovers, Podcasting for Youtube and Skype chats.
Design a Professional Backdrop
Despite what you have seen, doing a video from your couch in your living room is not a good look. Tidy up your office or use a great wall with artwork. If none of that is available in your work space, you may want to have a professional graphic design firm like Kayla Creative create a nice branded backdrop for you.
Once you have a design, you can get an inexpensive backdrop printed, my favorite vendor for this is www.stickersbanners.com. Invest in a fabric backdrop, not a vinyl one as that will reflect the light in your video and become distracting. Depending on where you are in the country, they can do same day/next day delivery for FREE once you approve the artwork.
As a former TV News Producer, I hope you have enjoyed my public service announcement about these low cost resources that will have you looking like a professional for around $400.
Do you have any ideas for home studio equipment?

Smart Contracts and Blockchain at Your Dinner Table? It’s More Possible Than You Think
After a long day of crypto trading, we all look forward to a nice, relaxing meal around the dinner table. But there is nothing relaxing about what is going on in the world today. Even bigger, perhaps, than the ICO scams and constant upheaval in the cryptocurrency market, something else is waiting for us…
Okay, we can’t actually have smart contracts and blockchain at the dinner table, but NAgriTech has found a way to use them to provide millions of people all around the world with plentiful, organically grown food without costing farmers a lot of money.
Not many people outside of the United States have heard of Roundup. It is a pesticide developed by Monsanto and is commonly sprayed to kill weeds in between grape vines, apple trees, wheat, corn, soybean fields and hundreds of other fruits and vegetables all over the world. The main active ingredient in Roundup is something called glyphosate – a substance so toxic that it has been linked to a whole host of health problems.
However harmful to humans Roundup might be, it is extremely effective at killing weeds – it also kills just about every other kind of plant it comes into contact with. In fact, Monsanto has had to specifically design hundreds of kinds of GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) seeds to withstand the glyphosate-based herbicide. These seeds are even called “Roundup Ready”.
GMO plants do not die when highly toxic glyphosate is sprayed on them, but it kills any weeds growing in the spray area. The problem is that glyphosate does not evaporate and you cannot wash it or cook off. It penetrates everywhere and has been shown to affect the nervous system, cause cancer, disrupt the endocrine system, and can cause liver disease even in the smallest doses.
Even the WHO (World Health Organization) admitted that glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic to humans.” Almost all crops – and all food made with those crops – except for those grown organically are poisoned with this substance.
And now, Monsanto and Big Pharma company Bayer have merged into a giant mega-company to control the entire global food production. Seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, then medical drugs, anti-cancer drugs – it’s getting scary, right?
Roundup is everywhere – in every crop-based thing we consume – from beer to rice, from bread to sugar and its use is only going to increase as the demand for more food to feed a growing global population continues to rise.
So where does that leave us? Do we eventually die from hunger or from cancer? It sounds dramatic, but it could be a reality in the not-so-distant future unless we change the technologies we use.

NAgriTech Offers a Real World Solution to the Global Food Crisis
NAgriTech is one of the few companies launching an ITO project that is grounded in the real sector of the economy – the Agricultural Economy. The company guarantees that its product is both all-natural and environmentally friendly. They have developed a liquid composite of micro-elements that leverages advances in the field of agricultural biotechnology.
NAgriTech products aim to help farmers in emerging markets affordably and sustainably increase crops yield, and thus profit. And no need to use GMO seeds, no need to use Roundup as a result.
The NAgriTech formula is a plant growth regulator and is designed to stimulate growth and development of crops in adverse climate and environmental conditions. It can be used to stimulate the regeneration of plants after overwintering and to stimulate the regrowth of intense winter crops in the spring.
NAgriTech products offer a multitude of benefits, including:
Stimulates plant growth rate and increases yield by 10-30%.
Increases absorption of all necessary minerals and trace elements by plants.
Increases content of vitamins, sucrose and other nutrients in fruits and vegetables.
Intensifies metabolic processes in plant cells and reduces the amount of nitrates to 50%.
Enables the development of a powerful root system.
Strengthens the immune system of plants, helps to fight diseases and increases the
Can be used at all stages of growth, from seed treatment to spraying along with the already applied combination of fertilizers and plant protection products.
If farmers are able to realize a greater organic crop yield, the result will be greater availability of healthy food and lower costs.
The Nagri organic composite is introduced by seed pelleting, root system watering, and plant spraying. NAgriTech believes that this will allow farmers to increase their crop yields without resorting to GMOs or harmful chemicals.
The NagriCoin ITO (Initial Token Offering)
One of the biggest problems in the current ICO space is that far too many projects are “all hat and no cattle” – that is, they talk a good game but there is no substance behind the words. They have the slick website and the whitepaper and try to dazzle investors with buzzwords like “blockchain” and “smart contracts” but the truth is that there is nothing there. No proof of concept, no documented and independently reviewed research, nothing.
Crypto investors want real people and real businesses behind the white papers, and that is why NAgriTech is a perfect company in which to invest – a game changer across the board, from crypto to farming.
NAgriTech is a real company with real products that have undergone more than 7 years of development and testing. Lab tests were completed at independent state laboratories in both Brazil and Italy, proving the superior results of NagriTech products. In fact, they are scheduled to begin larger scale field testing in South America and Europe later this year.
The NagriCoin ITO is around the corner and there are just 1,333,333 NGR tokens to be sold with 50% discount! Hurry up and join whitelist now!
NAgriTech investors will have the opportunity to earn great profits from booming population growth and provide sustainable and organic fertilizer to thousands of farmers and people worldwide.
