in Steven Universe it was treated like a problem that Rose Quartz treated humans like a species who were totally beneath her when she was dating Greg.
Imagine if when Greg snapped 'can you just talk to me, like a real person?!' at Rose it was framed like he was the problem just for raising his voice, after an entire episode of Rose talking to him like he was this fun, dumb animal even though they'd been dating and sleeping together.
And Stolas has been doing what Rose did for a season and change, not just a single flashback episode - arguably worse than Rose since unlike Rose and Greg there is a very real diference in social and economic power between him and Blitz. Not to mention he's also a lot meaner to Blitz than Rose is to Greg, given Rose's demeaning attitude just comes up in convos mostly between the two of them whereas Stolas has embarassed Blitz and acted ashamed of him in front of others, sexually harassed him all the way around Loo Loo Land and put cigarettes out on his horn.
I know SU gets some well-deserved criticism for uneven writing and basically everything about how the Diamonds were handled, but it's refreshing on the whole to see a show that has a bare minimum understanding of how characters should talk to one another. The only instance I can think of when they shamed a character for being annoyed at someone was the one when Steven kept pressuring Lapis to be friends with Peridot even though she still had trauma over her imprisonment.
Oh, We Need to Talk was definitely everything Apology Tour should have been...what this ship should have been long before that point, honestly. Note that while WNtT mostly sympathized with Greg, it also showed that Rose is equally confused and has no idea what she's doing, and that shared sense of cluelessness is ultimately what brings the two of them closer together.
(Also, that it made it as clear as a kid's show can that Greg and Rose had scorching sexual chemistry and had definitely been spending the past couple of months going at it like rabbits, but that for a relationship to last, you eventually need more than that.)
Everyone in this house is in the kitchen I don't think im gonna make it not much longerr poor simon Succumbing to the hunger yup thats me because no one in the house wntt to let me use the Michelle wave (im a feminist) so no Alfreda (feminist) for me.
the wntt video just reminds me of the idea of being in love with the idea of someone. like she drained everything but the parts she loved from awsten and made him the ideal thing she wanted. the idea of him but not actually him. because he isn’t the perfect human being she wanted him to be, she killed the part of him she didn’t want until he was nothing but a vacant body for her to hold onto.
