Day 2: Blind Date

Sadu put him up to this.

It was originally to get Magnai to stop whining in her general vicinity about his Nhaama, blah blah blah, but- 

When you agreed to the idea of a blind date as well, she decided: you two losers would fit well together anyway.

Magnai chokes on air when he sees you

The Warrior of Light, normally seen in armor or adventuring clothes… in casual wear??? Clothes that perfectly match your features, at that?

He’s floored

You’re equally surprised

It’s not that often that you see the Oronir outside of the Steppe, and he looks almost… natural here at the restaurant you two met at in Kugane

“Sadu did well to match me with someone deserving of my radiance.”

Ah. There’s the Magnai you know. You give him a deadpan stare, and he seems to wilt under your look.

He seems… nervous?

“Apologies… You look lovely tonight.”

Surprised that he seems to have dropped his charade, you decide to give it a shot.

The two of you pass the time while waiting for your food with stories of your youth, and you find out a good bit about Magnai, his sisters, and his life on the Steppe.

In turn, you regale him with your adventures across Eorzea. He seems particularly interested with your fights with primals, eyes gleaming with approval as you speak of your victories.

Food is wonderful, though you do catch him muttering to himself about treating you to a proper feast sometime.

He also puffs up in pride watching you give a disapproving stare to a waitress who seems to be eyeing him. That you would want priority in his attention…!

The night was… surprisingly nice. You certainly didn’t expect this turn of events when you made the impulsive decision to accept Sadu’s proposal of a blind date, but you wouldn’t mind a repeat of this date.

It seemed that Magnai was like minded in this sentiment, even going so far as to walk you back to the inn you were staying at before leaving.

“This was… fun. Would you be open to me visiting you sometime?” You tentatively ask him.

It seems to jolt him out of his thoughts as he hastily replies, “Of course! I would expect no less,” then hastily adds on, “...I would be honored.”

You chuckle at his antics, and kiss him on the cheek.

“Good night, Magnai.”

Sadu’s plan worked, but alas

Now she has to deal with him gushing about you whenever they’re forced to be near each other.

Introductions

So I realize that, in a setting where just about everyone has their own characters and stories they want to tell, it can get exhausting trying to figure out what each character's deal... is. And mine are no better, given my tendency to not elaborate much on their stories and personalities beyond the occasional wolqotd. So, to try and clear away some of the fog, here's an introduction to the characters I'll probably be posting about on here.

Fair warning, this is a LONG post.

The easiest place to start is with my primary character, Zaya Dalamiq. She is a Xaela Au'ra from Doma, whose parents immigrated from the Azim Steppe.

Zaya's story is one of connections and vulnerability, culminating in her replacing Gosetsu as one of Hien's trusted retainers and advisors, alongside Yugiri. Zaya is a (non)wol x Yugiri ship, and sees Hien as a non-blood related sibling. She also has close relations with Lyse Hext, Magnai Oronir, and Aymeric de Borel.

Zaya has two custom jobs called Demon King (DMK) and Sohei (SOH). Demon King mixes aspects of Dark Knight, Warrior, and Samurai; while Sohei is a very straightforward blend of Monk and Dragoon. She does not possess the echo, and was born with unnaturally thin aether, to the point she is unable to use magic of any sort without the use of crystal conduits. In exchange for this defecit -- and to explain her DRK capabilites -- Zaya has a natural affinity for Dynamis, to the point she is able to freely manipulate the energy as if it were aether.

Zaya is also a talented artisan, specializing in metalwork such as Armorcraft, weaponry, and goldsmithing. A lot of her spare time is spent around the Doman Enclave, training the guard and working to help Doma's reconstruction in the wake of Stormblood.

She's an extremely emotional woman with a measured and controlled exterior that she's developed to oppose her empathetic nature. She is strongly loyal to her friends and Doma both, and puts 110% into every single thing she does. Unfortunately, she does suffer from Impostor Syndrome, and always assumes herself at fault for problems or tragedies, so there's still some stuff that could be worked on.

Next on the list is Lernea, Zaya's Ancient counterpart. She's much less developed than Zaya, but still has a good bit of lore surrounding her place in the world and how her story goes.

Lernea is a researcher in Elpis, though 'researcher' is a lofty title for what she really does. Put as simply as possible, Lernea's job is to fight things. Despite lacking the level of aetheric control necessary to actually test and evaluate concepts, Lernea serves to test a being's combat capabilities and to determine whether a certain concept will be a threat to the outside world.

Compared to Zaya, Lernea is far more confident and headstrong, to the point of appearing arrogant and brash. She has a short temper, and lives for the thrill of battle, though this comes from an innate desire to protect -- one that, for the most part, could only be satisfied with testing -- which has persisted into her various shards, including Lyna, who I've picked to be Zaya's reflection in the First.

Moving on to the more... conceptual characters, we have Kanemi and Kawami Munakata, two Hingan Au'ra that come from a wealthy mercantile family near Kugane. Originally conceived to be foster siblings for Zaya, these two have ended up being their own characters with their own stories.

The older of the two, Munakata Kanemi, is usually depicted as a soft-spoken caretaker, leaning heavily into the stereotypical Healer Archetypes. Being the next head of the Munakata family, she doesn't get to do much in the way of combat, as her talents lie more in commerce and communication. Her job is a custom rendition of White Mage, meant to present a far more Eastern aesthetic than the normal job allows.

The younger, Munakata Kawami, is actually from a branch family of the Munakata clan. Despite that, she grew up in the same house as Kanemi, and the two are more like sisters than cousins. Kawami is much more rambunctious and mischievous, fitting well into the 'gremlin' caricature. While originally designed to be a Monk, I've recently changed Kawami to being a Samurai, having trained with the Sekiseigumi in Kugane before eventually swearing her sword as Kanemi's personal protector.

To that end, the two are never far from one another, and I struggle to picture them without the other.

Of course, I've some other characters that I may eventually explore, but for the time being these are the ones most likely to appear!

For all his search for a wife - his Nhaama - he does not catch on to your interest in him straight away. Not humble in the least, he thinks your attempts to court him are some strange means of trying to befriend him. Looks down his nose at you a lot. Still considers you inferior to him despite your conquests. Haughty. 

Eventually catches on. Outright laughs in your face when he rejects you. Does not seem to understand who you are, or the fact that you refuse to give up on him. Angrily flustered by your continued pursuit of him. You are not his dancer in the morning mist! (Or are you.) 

Still persists in his search for a wife even while being courted by you because he’s the actual worst. Out of all the lords you’ve known, he is the snootiest. Comes to expect your gifts and attempts to woo him. At first he is angry by your refusal to give up, and then amused. Finally settling on expectant, and quite spoiled when he does not get his way. You have never seen a full grown man have a temper tantrum, but there it is. 

Cocky. Preens a lot. Hah! Of course you would come to feel such for The Sun! 

Eventually softens to you, just a little. Allows you liberties with him that he would have an inferior cut down for. Smirky, smug. Likes to rub your companions faces in the fact that you chose him, especially Hien. 

Comes to touch you possessively with time. He decided that you belong to him. (Or is it the other way around, really? You laid claim to him. You’ve worn him down by your relentless pursuit. Never have you backed down from a challenge.)

Slowly comes to consider you his Moon. Takes his angry frustration out on his underlings when you’re away doing your sacred duty. Pines for you grumpily. Sends you increasingly passive aggressive letters the longer you are away from him. When will his Moon return? Threatens to replace you. 

Kisses you first because you were taking too long.Clings to you possessively. All the men in your life are Suspicious, and a Threat. (They are nothing in comparison to The Sun, surely!) 

Touches you because he can. Pulls you into his lap when he sits on the Dawn Throne. Dares anyone to challenge him about you. Who would dare.

Smug. Still super intense. Has Zero Chill.

It really should have been obvious.

Of course the Warrior of Light would possess an ethereal radiance akin to that of the moon.

But in the eyes of Oronir, strength was everything and your power was simply too glorious to see the graceful elegance that was present in your soul.

And once Magnai realized this, there was nothing that could even dare to impede his conquest to your heart, your body.

His Nhaama was finally within reach and he would do whatever it took to make you his.

It would be no easy task, but having the Warrior of Light his bride was something that he saw as a matter of when, not if.

And success was eventually seized.

In the same way he was seizing hold of your hips, gripping tightly as he continued to pummel your sopping core from behind, making sure to sheathe every thick, meaty inch of his cock inside of you.

Within his chambers, moonlight poured in through the window--an acknowledgement from the Dusk Mother herself upon the blessed union between himself and his cherished moon, a joining that was set in stone by the bonding ceremony that occurred earlier in the day.

Before him was you, knelt on all fours, sweet moans falling from your lips as your body shuddered gloriously beneath his massive, hulking frame.

To think that the warrior who could both protect and dominate the world was now mewling so preciously beneath him was a thought that made him want nothing more than to spill every drop of his seed into your womb.

And surely he would, over and over without hesitation--he had craved for this moment for so long, yearned for the opportunity he would get to begin a glorious lineage with someone worthy of his heart.

Three Ships

Solavellan, dormant but forever and always I suppose. Most specifically my Lavellan, Iwyn and Solas, because I love them and their dynamic and I miss Iwyn.

Meryta/Tansui, because this is my latest ship and I'm not sure why I picked a minor character but I did and now I'm here.

uuuhh what else? There is something about Aymeric/Estinien that interests me when done in a specific way, but otherwise I guess I did write Hien/Magnai so there's that. MOSTLY compelled by wol/anyone because I love people's wol ships.

I watched 75% of Fast X on an airplane. I have never watched any Fast and Furious movies and it was exactly as ridiculous as I imagined. In a good way I think? though like with many other contemporary action flicks - too long and by the time the plane landed and I hadn't finished the movie I don't feel compelled to do so. The narrative tension is zero, I know where it goes.

Nothing - I just finished The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, and I'm considering what to pick up next. Probably the second book in The Expanse series, though it's been awhile since I read the first. Or maybe a new book in a series by Nalini Singh which just came out.
