"Gods, I could sleep for a week," E'kaska said, pulling off her arm and setting it on the dresser before flopping onto the bed, still otherwise fully dressed.

"And here I thought you'd missed us," Alisaie teased, kicking off her shoes.

"Missed my bed more," E'kaska cracked an eye to grin at her girlfriend, only to be blindsided by Alphinaud throwing his jacket over her face.

"We could always return to Garlemald."

"Don't you dare!" E'kaska and Isaeux answered as one, E'kaska sitting up and tossing Alphinaud's jacket back at him. Her shoes now removed, Alisaie clambered up behind E'kaska, wrapping around her and kissing her cheek from behind.

"You're still so easy to wind up," Alisaie chuckled. "Never change,"

"She doesn't know how to do that," Isaeux pointed out, having turned his back to Alphinaud could help him remove his dress, "I think she'd get Hives if she tried."

"Bite me," E'kaska huffed, resting heavily on Alisaie.

"Tomorrow," Isaeux chuckled, "you were right when we first got in. We all need to sleep."

Which feels strange, given he spent his entire life doing everything that anyone asked of him thanks to his uncontrollable empathy.

But there's something intense, to him, about doing something for someone because he WANTS to, because HE wants to see them happy, not because he HAS to.

So he helps his loved ones. Without them asking for it, however he can.

Thinking about E'kaska and Isaeux. Thinking about how far they've come since they first met in ARR.

The child soldier, acting beyond her years to hide the trauma even from herself.

The boy who couldn't say no, angry and sullen and wishing he could just vanish off into the Aether.

How E'kaska hated Isaeux. How he felt all of that hate and neither noticed the intense fear that ran just beneath it.

How they grew into siblings, gripping each other close as they lost everything.

How their connection grew and grew until it seemed that they had always been a part of one another.

How they discovered that they had always been a part of each other. Shards of twin Azems, their souls intimately intertwined in ways that couldn't be unraveled.

How they both rise to their feet again and again, against gods and monsters and adults that should know better, from 13-17, from 16-19, again and again they fought battles made for adults to fight.

But the good stuff too.

How Isaeux will read and let himself be a steady thing for E'kaska to practice flipping over and over until she doesn't need him anymore.

How E'kaska feels with such burning intensity that Isaeux is able to use her as a battery to push through the fog of other people's emotions and continue to fight.

How Isaeux holds E'kaska's face in his hands and promises her that she is nothing like the monster that haunts her nightmares (and how his every word pings as true true true!)

How E'kaska teaches Isaeux about her first family, up in the stars now, but still watching her.

How they orbit one another perfectly, never eclipsing each other, never vying for space, just twin souls in different vessels that hold each others gravity steady.

How now when they look at each other, they can feel it. The deep knowledge in their bones that says 'Oh I know you. There you are, my love, and here I am too'

It just makes me so soft.

"You did it!" Alphinaud practically tackled Isaeux out of his chair as Isaeux set down the winning card in the game of triple triad. Isaeux had been about to speak, to explain about how easy it was to beat most people when the only thing you'd spent money on for some time was better cards, when his possible words were cut off by Alphinaud kissing him, right there in the Golden Saucer.

Alisaie

The final soldier fell, and Isaeux found himself more than a little distracted at the sight of Alisaie sheathing her sword and wiping away the sweat on her brow.

Gods alive, she would be the death of him.

His face split into a smile as she immediately jogged over to him. Without thinking, Isaeux pulled her into a kiss.

"Well if that's what the winner gets, everyone else will have to try far harder," Alisaie mumbled as she pulled away.

E'kaska

"Here," E'kaska held a mug out to Isaeux, "it's Miso, since you didn't eat dinner. I have cocoa, because I did eat dinner."

"And my dinner,"

"Yeah, and your dinner," E'kaska chuckled, resting against her brother. Isaeux chuckled, and sipped his soup.

"New recipe?" He asked after a moment. E'kaska nodded, and Isaeux smiled wider, "Whatever you put in, make a note. This is really good," he bent to kiss E'kaska, before grimacing. "Miso and chocolate on the other hand..."

"Yeah, that was kinda gross."
