Oddly, the same phrase came up over and over, although I don't think many of these friends had spoken to one another about it:
Something irreversible. As in, I'm afraid these kids are going to do something irreversible. But just what that thing was, and what irreversibility looked like outside of the usual irreversibility of time and momentum, I couldn't have told you, because they were never quite able to explain it to me. "Something irreversible" is to polite people what "self-mutilation" is to impolite people: a quick way to reorient the conversation around their own discomfort with bodies. In both cases it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to have a productive discussion with someone struggling with a reflexive, implicit horror of flesh. Any mention of someone else's transitioning body sends them into direct and panicked conflict with the prospect of their own transitioning body; since this is a prospect they find unbearable, it becomes immediately necessary for them to unload their own desire and disgust onto the nearest suitable target.

aemond showing up at luke's dorm to ask for help in his high valyrian classes since luke is actually at a higher level due to growing up w daemon
luke knowing damn well they're both rich so there's nothing aemond could actually offer him in exchange, tries to make him leave by saying he'll do it for a kiss (cuz cmon?? is this pious, raised by alicent, catholic boy actually gonna agree to that??)
turns out the answer was yes
Aemond was having trouble with speaking. His ancestral tongue had not informed the way his moved.
He could conjugate a verb, or tell you all the intricacies of familial ties, but he couldn't say a few simple sentences, let alone perform an oral exam.
That's why he went to Luke. It pained him, felt like pulling teeth and hair, and close to getting his pride cut with the same knife Luke used on his eye, but he did it.
And that's how he ends up in Luke's dorm. His nephew would have said no had he asked. Aemond knows this because there's been no lack of animosity between them.
But Luke is the best High Valyrian speaker he knows beyond his sister (he'd rather die) or his uncle (he'd kill him). He hits every pronunciation with a confidence that made even their primary school teachers blink in awe.
Aemond knocks twice on the door. Luke opens after a minute and promptly shuts it in his face.
He knocks again.
"What do you want?" Luke asks.
Aemond wants to kick down the door and tie Luke to a chair and force him to record Aemond's oral for him.
"Help." Aemond says, pathetic enough to prey on Luke's sweet boy instincts.
"No."
"Luke. You fucking owe me."
"For the eye thing? Grow up."
Aemond thinks seriously about kicking in the door.
"Taoba," he warns, "open the fucking door or-"
The door swings open and there is Luke, laughing right in his face.
"Taoba? Aemond. Tell me you didn't just say that. Taoba? Gods, the only thing you have any business asking me for help with is your Valyrian."
Aemond could grab Luke by his soft, pretty hair, and slam his head in the door. He could crack open his skull.
Luke's grin drops. "Oh. Is that actually what you need help with?"
Turns out, it isn't Luke's sweet boy instincts Aemond needed to prey on. it was his ego that gets him the invite inside.
He and Luke end up sitting facing each other on Luke's bed. He's just as good at pronunciation as Aemond remembers. His mouth form Valyrian words as if he were meant to say them. Aemond may look more like their Valyrian ancestors, but it's Luke who could speak with them like a real family member.
He does help Aemond a bit, helps him trains his lips to stretch far across his teeth on the staccato consonants, and makes Aemond watch his tongue on his R's.
After a few hours, Aemond feels like he's in a good place for his test.
"So," Luke leans forward, pressing his knees into Aemonds, "what are you going to give me for helping you out?"
Aemond swallows. He looks down at Luke's mouth, the mouth that has taught him, praised him, lashed out at him. It smiles now.
"What do you want?"
Luke pretends to ponder, "A kiss."
"Taoba." Aemond warns him again, this time the word leaves his mouth sultry, and right. Luke should not ask for something Aemond might take without mercy.
"Dreje, Qybor." Luke's smile widens with pride. He knows he's right.
"Just one." Aemond says.
"I've done enough work for at least a couple."
"Just one."
"Fine." Luke pouts. It's all quite juvenile.
Luke's crosses the distance between them, and from the first moment their lips touch, Aemond knows it won't only be one.

Sorry but I just HAD to say this.
THAT LITTLE HEAD KISS IN THAT COLLEGE AU WAS SOO- UGHHHH I DON'T HAVE THE WORDS!! .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.
I can only imagine what it would have felt like-
1) Kissing Wolfwood
2) Being kissed by Vash
(っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ
to kiss wolfwood is to kiss a lover as it is a traitor. to kiss humanity as it is his greatest sin. to kiss his reason and his tomorrows. kissing wolfwood feels like everything a kiss shouldn't have been, but is.
being kissed by vash is to be kissed by a martyr. to be kissed as a sinner. to be kissed forgiven at the same time kissed to be punished. being kissed by vash feels like everything a kiss should've been, but isn't.

it's one of those nights (he said, pretending like every night isn't one of 'those nights') where i can't stop thinking abt how Aziraphale and Crowley knew eachother before the Fall
Like CAN YOU IMAGINE?!--
you're this little angel, just doing your thing and BOOOM there's a really pretty angel that is literally creating a nebula and you're developing this silly little crush the second you meet them
And then shit goes down. Angels fall. There is so much that has happened since that first meeting and since you developed that silly little crush, you haven't even had the words to describe the way you're feeling and by then you might've already started forgetting or trying to forget about it and move on, but NO--
You get this job that you muck up a little and end up helping out some humans in need and then BOOM--
The once-angel you were crushing on that is now definitely off limits for you and goes against everything you're supposed to believe in turns up RIGHT NEXT TO YOU and starts conversation
And you can't bring yourself to smite him or do anything else you're actually supposed to do in such a scenario, bc you can't help but ask yourself if the now-demon is actually that bad
Last you knew they hadn't done anything wrong and were actually quite nice and charming and you keep asking yourself "what have they done to deserve this?" but there must've been a good reason, so you stay sceptical stand by heaven and their beliefs
And then over time you get to know this demon better and you realise they aren't really that bad in your opinion, even if that opinion does go against all of your beliefs and i just AHHHHHHH--
