Choosing a Kayak: Key Factors
When selecting a kayak, it's essential to consider several key factors. First and foremost, you need to determine where you plan to paddle. Whether it's a lake, river, or coastal area, your choice of kayak will depend on the conditions of these places.
Secondly, you should take into account the size and shape of the kayak. The size and shape determine the space your kayak provides, so think about this before diving into the market.
Thirdly, you need to consider your individual preferences and requirements. For example, if you're a novice in kayaking, a kayak with greater stability might be suitable for you. If you're an experienced kayaker, a more maneuverable kayak might be the way to go.
In conclusion, choosing a kayak is a decision that requires careful consideration. But with the right approach and taking all the key factors into account, you'll be able to select a kayak that perfectly suits your needs and preferences.

Old Town Loon 106

Size and Weight The Loon 106 is 10’6” (320 cm) long and 31” (78.7cm) wide. The kayak has a deck height of 17.5” (44.5 cm). The cockpit measures 56” x 23” (142.2cm x 58.4cm) without the work deck installed. The kayak weighs 53 pounds, so it can easily be shouldered to carry or loaded on a vehicle by an adult of average size and strength. Bow and stern handles allow for an easier way to carry or drag your boat. Capacity At 325 lbs (147.4 kg), Old Town Loon 106’s capacity is a bit restrictive, but it should still be sufficient for most smaller to medium-sized paddlers. Just be aware of the total weight when packing your gear for the day. Features The Old Town Loon 106 is built for comfort and offers all the features you need for a day on the water. On the bow, there is a bungee-based carrying handle. We prefer molded handles because they are sturdy, snag-free, and can be used as additional attachment points during transportation. Next, you have deck bungees for storing a day pack, a rain jacket, or any other items you might need on the water. One of the more advanced features of the Loon 106 is its detachable workdeck. It includes a dry storage box with a USB cord and charging port. It also has two catch-all trays and a water bottle holder. The workdeck is removable if you’d like more leg room. Beside the workdeck you have a paddle clip for easy storage of your paddle. Thigh pads are directly behind the workdeck on the sides of the cockpit to rest your knees. Read the full article
