Finally posting this AU here;
It’s 1 year anniversary of this AU!!
CW: This au contains general dark themes, brainwashing, non-consensual body modification, violence, machine gore, etc. please read at your own risk!
This is my rw au(Project Triple Affirmation), it takes place in a setting where the Ancients are still alive. One day, Looks to the Moon announces that she has found the Triple Affirmative—the answer to the Great Problem: to eliminate death by uploading all consciousnesses to a virtual reality, for without death, there is no rebirth, thereby breaking the cycle. She sees herself as the savior of everything, granting an ethereal eternity.
To put it into simpler words: Moon with her local group killing everything and uploading their victim’s consciousness to FP’s processor(a virtual reality).
While Moon claims that her plan “Solves” the Great Problem, her real agenda is far more radical: she wants to play god. To create a new world in her vision.
There’s still a lot more lore in this au, I’ll slowly get to them in my later posts.

Any more random Soul or other such Lore you’d like to share with us that you’ve come up with but can’t fit in the comic anywhere?
Tumblr media
GET READY TO READ. Chara Timeline Lore!!!
Also take all of this as soft cannon. Most, if not all, will not be showing up in the comic (or at least in this amount of detail). And the comic does not need this information to make sense.
These book entries are from an in-universe source.

I hope you enjoyed the world building :> Again this is mostly all for fun!
4th Wall Break Time! - Humans are completely oblivious to the fact “soul entities” are humans themselves. Their little heads would probably pop if they truly knew. So don’t tell them! - Monsters are still made of dust in my AU, but they are more physical than their Undertale counterparts, only slightly… - Both Humans and Monsters cannot do magic freely. They would need to go through extensive training to get…a Wizard license! :O - It’s strange, but the Monsters seem more human than the actual humans in this world…huh…

My personal (and favorite) Gourmand theory is that they went DOOM mode on the red lizard population and singlehandedly made them become endangered on the facility grounds.
My evidence? Notice how every slugcat before them on the timeline - Spearmaster, Artificer, and Hunter, each encounter red lizards in their campaigns. Only in the campaigns of Survivor and Monk - which come directly after Gourmand - are they absent. They do reappear in Rivulet and Saint, but those both seem to take place in the far future. It took that long for the population to recover from the hell Gourmand wrought upon them.

(golden pearl dialogue)
I read this part properly for the first time and REALLY comprehended it -
So Five Pebbles extracted some of his own tissue and exposed it to "temperature fluctuations" (this is a real method that can be used for encouraging mutations in one's genome in real life, though it's mainly used in research and never on a person), attempting to RANDOMLY come across a specific mutation????? Even without knowing how genetically complex the very specific cancer he was trying to make would have been, that's actually ridiculous - irl this method was mainly used for observing the effects of random mutations (nowadays there are more sophisticated and faster eays of altering the genome; this is an outdated method by human standards), not for making a specific mutation spanning multiple genes.
"This is of course extremely time consuming" it's like if you stood in a random spot in a field, waiting to be hit by lightning. Except that the lightning hitting some specific wrong spots would give you supercancer. It's like deliberately giving yourself sunburns in hopes that a cancer that specifically wishes to destroy another VERY SPECIFIC part of your genome will arise - while not developing regular cancer.
I assume Five Pebbles probably watched close and removed any mutations that were useless or dangerous. Maybe this is the process that Moon interrupted?

I used to be one of those guys when I first joined the Kirby fandom, but everytime I hear a discussion of the series writing that starts with "So the Lore is InSaNe-" and not like, "Kirby has a fun writing style that takes advantage of its cute exterior to tell cool stories that reward player's curiosity and leave lots of room for imagination-" I cringe so goddamn hard.
I kinda just hate that people approach things that encourage investment when they don't expect it as inherently absurd. Like it is fun to joke about how absurd Kirby lore can be, but it really often comes with an air of disrespect or exhaustion rather than like, appreciation that these games are made by people who want to tell interesting stories when they could easily make as much money just making polished enough fluffy kiddy platformers. And when it's not met with exhaustion, it's met with - like I said before - that tone that it's stupid for a series like this TO have devs who care about writing stuff for it. Which is a whole other thing about people not respecting things made to appeal to kiddie aesthetic or tone.
Maybe the state of low-stakes YouTube video essays just blows cause people play up ignorance and disbelief for engagement, but like I STG I hear people use this tone for like actual narrative based games sometimes. Some people don't like... appreciate when a game is made by people who care a shitton in ways that aren't direct gameplay feedback. And they especially don't appreciate it when it comes from something with any sense of tonal dissonance intentional or not.
Anyways, I love games made by insane people. I love games made by teams who feel like they wanna make something work or say something so bad. I love that energy, especially when invested into something that could easily rest on its laurels or which obviously won't be taken seriously. I love this in a lot of classic campy 2000s games, I love this in insanely niche yet passionate fanworks, and I love it in the Kirby series and its writing. Can we please stop talking about it like it's an annoyance or complete joke?

you know what since I was talking about the rain world ending and i rambled a little about the karma system and how its all fake.
Big spoilers ahead and whatever I will be talking thoroughly abt the game lore (excluding downpour i don't consider it canon).
Karma in rain world isn't real and we've all been tricked to think it matters at all.
Here's a list of things we should consider regarding the information about karma.
We start on the lowest karma, and as slugcat rests it goes up until it caps at 5. Each of these karma levels represent the basic animal urges. Violence, lust, companionship, gluttony, survival.
The ancients are the ones that considered shedding the base natural urges of an animal necessary for ascension.
The ancients are also the ones that proposed the idea of ascension, and declared that the cycle of life, death, and rebirth is so awful that no creature would want to be a part of it.
Tumblr media
(light blue pearl, outskirts)
Now, a lot of this game is about religion- and in the case of the ancients it touches upon the idea of the opressiveness of religion and exploitation therein. Anytime I think about how the ancients left behind the iterators to "solve the problem" for the rest of the creatures, it makes me think of how missionaries go to places to try and "save" the people there.
The ancients' religion is a manipulative cult. First, they convince (almost) all of their people that life is awful. Then, they continue with proposing the idea of solving that problem- no longer living. But there's a catch! You have to die correctly. You have to EARN this "blissful" release from the horrible fact of living. Either by rigorous torture (living off of tea and starving yourself) or by paying money.
Tumblr media
(Bright red pearl, farm arrays)
Then, they make it a societal norm- an HONOUR to die in the way They Think Is Correct. But you HAVE to do everything they say to shed yourself of those nasty animal urges and be ready for ASCENSION. And they put a price on it.
But we have to remember, not only did they create a religion that convinced them all that living is horrible...
They destroyed the entire ecosystem that used to be there and replaced it with ruins or whatever managed to descend from purposed organisms.
The ancients were able to alter cells of creatures- the ability to do such a thing at all is described here.
Tumblr media
(Gold pearl, Chimney Canopy)
So who is to say that they didn't alter the cells of their own people? That they didn't create all purposed organisms with that idea of karma inside of them? The gates respond to the slugcat, it reads something about its karma. Its a machine reading something within its genetic data. The guardians respond to creatures with karma- and in fact are hostile to anything NOT at karma 10.
But the guardians were made by the ancients to protect their temples. To prevent anyone "unworthy" from going down.
The iterators are forbidden from altering their own karma- how is that something you can do if its not an actual, physical trait somewhere within them? Somewhere within their genetic code that the ancients tampered with?
But most notably-
Cheesing your way past the guardians using flashbangs and throwboosts is an intended feature of the game, and you can go down and into the sea and ascend with no issue. If karma truly mattered for ascension, then why can we ascend without the approval of the guardians?
Slugcats are descendants of purposed organisms, they have this "karma" meter wired into their bodies.
So anyway karma isn't real and the ancients forced a mass suicide of their own kind as Im sure whoever benefitted from exploiting their own citizens had been long gone, leaving behind nations of people desperate to leave the world behind as they have been convinced its the only thing to save them from the horrors of living.

If the devs don't give UI some lore.... then I will ...
Tumblr media
relationship chart:
pebbles:
UI dislikes him, hell they are basically one minor inconvenience away from hating him. he's slightly older than them, but despite being "such a brat" (UI is projecting onto him. pebbles is NOT a brat <///3), he is a lot more liked by the group than UI. neither do their views align, UI is an anti-sliverist, and pebbles is a sliverist. so basically UI is fighting pebbles for the title of the cooler third gen iterator of the group (everyone else in the group is either second gen or first gen)
moon:
UI likes moon, literally the only one who UI isn't mean around. and it's not because UI just wants to be on the good side of a senior, no, UI genuinely does think that moon is rather nice. a part of UI wishes that they were her younger sibling instead of pebbles. moon is sort of the only one who's nice to them… thus they need to repay moon by being nice back. UI tries their best to not accidentally push moon away.
grey wind:
never talked to them, sort of wary, but admire them nonetheless. neither did UI wanna talk to GW, i guess they feel too guilty, as if GW absolutely despises them for how they're unable to really keep much friendships without pushing everyone away after 100 cycles. this guilt clouds UI's eyes, making them wary of GW because they so thoroughly convinced themselves GW hates them.
no significant harassment:
rather neutral about NSH, tried to become friends with NSH but ended up pushing him away like they always do. nevertheless, they hold no good or bad opinions about NSH
suns:
UI doesn't know them, has no clue why they talk like they're a part of the group, and really doesn't like them because of this. UI is sort of distrustful of strangers, they definitely live by an extreme version of "you do not get my respect for free"

you guys seem to like my echo iterator, Distant Humming, so here’s more Humming lore
Tumblr media
first thing’s first, her can is weird! the void fluid she dipped herself in didn’t take too kindly to her structure, melting and dissolving and stretching it in odd ways as she descended into the sea. Despite literally looking like a corpse, she’s doing fine! Becoming an echo unshackled her from the limitations of physics, and also the dangers of physical damage.
Tumblr media
She resides over what was once her facility grounds. After she got dissolved, the void fluid kept boring through everything around it, digging a hole into the earth’s crust right back to the sea. The Pit is the most direct way to the depths, but a perilous journey due to the unstable walls and sheer drops. Like all echoes, Distant Humming only appears when you’re on your current max karma - just a bit more dramatic because, instead of a singular guy, it’s at least 3 regions appearing overnight. When she’s visible, the echo pacification aura affects almost all of the Pit, and even a bit outside of it.
Tumblr media
Her interior isn’t any less weird. Everything free-floating inside her structure melted into the walls and floors and ceilings, distorting in the void. Anything that didn’t get attached was lost, making her interior uncannily still. She’s literally incapable of losing anything else now, as if a piece gets dislodged it’s instantly replaced by a clone of itself. Yes you can produce infinite neurons this way. They’re only nutritional inside her regions.
she’s so normal :thumbs up:
