Can't do this anymore
Mapi Leon x reader
You and Mapi are best friends and roommates but there always seems to be something else between you
(I adore Mapi and Ingrid but we’re gonna pretend she doesn’t exist for this)

“Wow, someone’s looking good. Hot date or what?” You rolled at Mapi as you entered your living area. Your roommate layed stretched out on the couch, where she often was, with a book in hand, peering over the top of it with a teasing smile on her face.
“Yeah, Patri’s trying to set me up with some girl she knows. I’m hoping that by agreeing to this one she’ll quit trying to do this all the time.” You weren’t exactly excited for this date, something made clear by your deadpan voice as you talked about it. You were the token single friend in your friend group and you were tired of all of them bugging you about it, constantly trying to set you up. You only agreed to this one in hopes of shutting them up, something that always proved to be difficult.
“I don’t get why you’re so afraid of talking to girls. You never know, maybe you could bring this one home with you and have some fun?” she wiggled her eyebrows at you. “I can disappear for the night if you want?”  Her sing-songy voice was a hallmark of her usual teasing towards you, both of you used to the fact that she was the one most likely to bring random girls home while you would panic the second a girl made eye contact.
Despite your differences, the two of you made the most perfect friends. You had lived together for a few years now, saving on rent while also enjoying each other’s company. You were more of a homebody, often appreciating her help in crosswords or sharing books with her while she was the one who got you out of the house, not allowing you to be too much of a homebody. You were the perfect duo and everybody knew it, being more comfortable with each other than with anyone else.
“Don’t count on it, Maria. I think it’s safe to say you don’t need to plan on disappearing. I’m just going to go have dinner with her and maybe grab some drinks if it goes well. That’s it.” You gave her a knowing look as you put your shoes on and got ready to leave.
“Keep an open mind, you never know, cari. I’m going out with the girls later but you can always give me a call if you need a ride or anything. I’m not drinking tonight so I’ll leave my phone on for you!” And with that, you left the house, off to meet your date.
Your date was fine. The girl was fine, the food was fine, the conversation was fine, it was all just fine. It wasn’t anything special. You didn’t know her at all, obviously, so you felt like the conversation was forced and unnatural. Something about it just left you feeling unsatisfied, seemingly having nothing in common with this girl and therefore nothing to talk about. You couldn’t quite decide what made Patri think it could work out between you but you were over it, your social battery depleted, opting to end the date early so you could go back to the comfort of your own home. Every one of these dates that your friends set you up on left you drained and even more anxious about the idea of ever finding a significant other.
When you trudged through your apartment door after not being gone for all that long, you weren’t surprised to find Mapi exactly where you left her on the couch. All she could see was the look of annoyance on your face as you slipped off your shoes and made your way to join her, dramatically flopping yourself onto the couch next to her. “I’m guessing the fact that you’re already home will tell me everything I need to know about how your date went?” Her eyebrows rose as she set her book down on her chest to look at you.
You shot her a glare in response, answering her question for her. The defender raised her hands up as if to surrender, “hey, don’t be getting mad at me, I’m on your side here.”
“Ugghhh, I know. I’m sorry.” you sat up to finally look at her. “I’m just tired of this shit.”
“Why don’t you come out with us tonight?”
“I don’t know, I’m tired and I-”
“Cari, listen to me. I think it could be good for you. You can stick with us the whole time, we won’t make you talk to any girls or tease you about it at all.” You scoffed at her words, knowing how unlikely it would be for that to happen.
“You’re gonna stick with me? Zorri, I guarantee you’ll have your tongue down some girl’s throat in the first ten minutes we’re there.” Her face feigned shock, seemingly offended at your words as you giggled, knowing you were right.
“Okay well maybe I won’t stick with you but Patri and Pina will!”
“I don’t know, Maps. You just wanna get laid, tonight. I can tell it’s been awhile cause of the stick you’ve had up your ass lately so I think I’ll sit this one out.” You burst out laughing, once again knowing you were right while she started smacking your shoulder. The two of you both broke into a mixture of giggling and hitting each other before trying your best to calm down.
This was the nature of your relationship with your Mapi. The two of you were constantly teasing and bullying each other, both of you knowing the love you held for each other. You saw right through what she wanted from her night out, and decided that you just didn’t have the energy to join her, or more accurately, join your other friends, in their night.
“Mapi, while I appreciate the invite, I’m gonna stay here. But you have fun! I just need a night in.” You stood up from the couch to retreat to your room, stopping briefly to turn back to your friend right as you reached your bedroom door. “And Maria- don’t sleep with that bartender tonight. I know I said to get laid but I don’t mean her. As your friend I’m telling you, something is off about her, so please bring home any other person instead.”
The defender rolled her eyes at you but you knew she’d take your advice seriously. Every time you went out, the same bartender would spend the entire night flirting with Mapi. She hadn’t done anything wrong, per say, but something about her just rubbed you the wrong way and all you knew was that you didn’t want Mapi bringing her back to your apartment. Maybe it was just the way she looked at her or how drop dead gorgeous she was behind the bar, but it made you slightly possessive over your best friend.
With that, you retreated into your room for the night, allowing Mapi to go on with whatever she had planned and for you to get occupied by your thoughts while you attempted to watch a movie. However, all you could think about was how right Mapi had been when she teased you for being so afraid of talking to girls. You had thought about it some before but could never figure out why you were that way. The only girls you were ever all that comfortable around were your teammates and even so, it wasn’t unusual for you to still tense up around them at times. Mapi seemed to be the only one who you truly could let down your walls around no matter what and something about that didn’t sit quite right with you.
You couldn’t figure it out. She was your best friend and she had been for years, why would you suddenly be questioning how you felt about her? It’s not like anything had changed? So why should your feelings be?
The more you thought about it, the more it absolutely tore you to pieces, eventually resorting back out to the kitchen to make yourself a cup of tea in hopes of being able to get to sleep eventually. You didn’t realize how much time had passed until Mapi was quietly opening the front door, sneaking into the kitchen under the assumption you would already be asleep.
You didn’t hear her enter, scaring you half to death when she suddenly started speaking to you, “You’re still awake? You okay? Something on your mind?” when her voice broke through your thoughts, you jumped, grabbing your chest as you caught your breath.
“Jesus, Mapi! You scared the shit out of me, what's wrong with you?!”
“Ay, calm down, I didn’t mean to,” she held her hands up in surrender. “Are you okay?”
You sighed, unable to actually be mad at her. “Yeah, I just couldn’t sleep.” It wasn’t an entire lie, but there was no way you could tell her what you were actually thinking, hoping to change the subject as quickly as possible. “I see you’re home alone. Couldn’t find any girls willing to put up with your yapping, huh?”
“Oh don’t worry, my mouth would have been far too busy to be yapping.” You almost spit out your tea, shocked by her response while she smirked at you, giving you a small shrug once you calmed down. Mapi’s plans for her mouth were certainly not something you needed to be thinking about at the moment. “I just didn’t really feel it tonight, I don’t know.”
She joined you at the table, stealing a sip from your tea as she did so. “You should’ve seen Patri and Pina tonight, cari. Those two were crazy…” She continued on and on, filling you in on everyone’s antics from the night, while you just listened. It was easy for you to be completely captivated by her as she spoke. You were used to her talking nonsense and you just listening, always getting lost in how excited she got and how her smile grew the longer she spoke.
Eventually Mapi noticed the way you struggled to keep your eyes open, completely exhausted by the previous day, and helped you up. “Time for bed, you’re hardly awake. Also, don’tbemadatmebut I told Patri about how your date went so don’t be surprised if you hear from her tomorrow. Goodnight!” She rushed out her words, barely understandable, conveniently right before you went to bed and were too tired to actually be mad at her like you would’ve otherwise. Hardly even processing what she said, you decided you could handle Patri in the morning and went straight to bed, finally too worn out to be kept up by your thoughts any longer.
You slept in late, later than you normally would, hearing Mapi already up and doing things on the other side of your wall. When you eventually emerged from your room, you were shocked at the state of your best friend. “MAPI! What the fuck!” There she was, casually doing her laundry, in nothing but a sports bra and her underwear.
“Que?” she genuinely looked confused by your reaction, somehow unsure as to what your problem was.
“Since when does laundry day mean walking around in your underwear?!”
“Well otherwise you can’t clean all your clothes. Cause the one’s you’re wearing are still not clean so you still have more laundry to do. So I figured why not just wash everything?” She acted as if it were the most obvious thing in the world while you kept your eyes glued to the floor, worried that you’d get caught looking somewhere you shouldn’t. You could only hope that she wouldn’t notice the slight blush that was rising to your cheeks.
“Mapi, somehow you still find ways to surprise me even after three years of living with you.” You shook your head at her, trying to hide how flustered you were while you sat down on the couch to check your phone.
Somehow, you’d already missed a variety of messages from Patri regarding your failed date that she had set you up on. Normally you’d ignore her or tell her off for bugging you about always being single, but for some reason you decided to entertain her today. Maybe if you agreed to more of her setups and put in more of an effort, it could get you out of whatever weird headspace you found yourself in the night before. Whatever it was you were feeling about Mapi, you needed to put an end to it and hopefully some more successful dates could be the solution you needed. So in a lapse of judgment, you agreed to meet up with another one of Patri’s friends that night. Her source of single, lesbian, friends seemed to be endless so she was overjoyed when you finally stopped putting up a fight.
There you were once again, getting ready to go on yet another date that you weren’t too excited about. You were trying your best to have a good attitude but it was harder than you expected.
“You’re all dressed up,” Mapi raised her eyebrows at you, mimicking the exact conversation you had had 24 hours earlier.
You let out a sigh, already regretting your decision to do this. “Yeah, I let Patri set me up with someone else, so I have another date. We’re just getting dinner so I shouldn’t be out too late, especially with training tomorrow morning.”
“Wow, you’re really putting yourself out there,” she paused for a moment, almost looking… disappointed? But the defender quickly changed her tune, doing a complete 180, “You have fun, chica! Keep an open mind and my phone’s on if you need anything! You can always give me a call!”
“Gracias, Mapi! I’ll see you later? Adios!”
You set off towards the restaurant you agreed on, deciding on walking as it was only about a twenty minute walk and the weather was nice. If nothing else, the walk could help clear your mind before you had to meet this girl for real.
You were about five minutes early so you were the first one there, leaving you to get a table and wait for your date to arrive.
The girl was a total stranger to you, not even having her number, only knowing that somehow Patri knew her and set the whole thing up. So you sat with your glass of wine, and waited.
After a while you checked your watch. It was now ten minutes after your agreed upon time. But that was understandable, right? Ten minutes was no big deal, she was probably just running late. You double checked your texts with Patri to make sure you had the right time and place and went back to waiting.
There you sat, getting more and more anxious for every minute that passed. This is why you hated things like this; dates always just filled you with anxiety. You’d already received plenty of looks of pity from the wait staff, and weird glances from the people dining around you. After it reached thirty minutes past your meeting time, you gave Patri a call which she of course, didn’t answer.
When it hit 45 minutes, you decided you had had enough. Tears had started pooling in your eyes from a mix of anger, embarrassment, frustration, and anxiety. You shakily got up from your table, apologizing to your waiter and paying for your wine as you did so. As soon as you reached the front door, you saw that it had begun to rain, instantly deflating your mood even further. You knew walking home would be the thing to fully send you over the edge so you decided to call your Mapi to pick you up.
“Chica, estás bien?”
“Mapi, can you please come get me?” Mapi could hear the exhaustion in your voice, obviously trying to hold back tears.
“Si. Si, I’ll be right there, I’m leaving right now.” You could tell from her voice that she was rushing, coming to your rescue as fast as she could. She stayed on the phone as she drove, speaking nonsense in an attempt to distract you until she arrived about five minutes later.
When you got in the car, she looked at you hesitantly, clearly wanting to ask what happened.
“Maps, she stood me up.”
“Oh, cari.” Her hold body deflated at your words, “I’m sorry. I swear, when I see Patri tomorrow I’m gonna kill her. Why would she try to set you up with some shit girl she knows? I can’t stand that! You deserve better than that, you know that, right? You deserve someone who will treat you like a fucking queen, and I-”
You interrupted her by setting your hand on her thigh as she drove. “Mapi, it’s fine. I appreciate the sentiment but it’s fine, it’s not Patri’s fault.” The two of you settled into a comfortable silence- both of you lost in thought, unknowingly for the same reason.
“Thank you for picking me up,” your voice was hardly audible.
“Of course. I told you, I’ll always be here for you if you need anything. It’s no bother, really.”
“You’re telling me you really have nowhere better to be than here picking me up from a  stupid restaurant in the rain?”
“Where else would I be right now other than the couch? Sure you might have to answer to Bagheera, but I think she’ll understand.”
You returned her soft smile, although your thoughts were more conflicted than ever before. “I just can’t help but think this is more effort that most people would put into a friend.” Both of you were silent as she parked the car, not quite sure what you were getting at. You didn’t quite know either, if you were being honest. Your emotions had taken over all sense of logic and all you could think about was the girl sitting next to you.
“Let’s go inside, order some takeout, and talk, si?” You nodded and followed her inside, terrified of the direction your conversation would be going in.
Once you got inside and changed from your nice clothes, you both settled on the couch next to each other. “Hmm, nice sweatshirt you’ve got there.” Mapi raised an eyebrow at you as you sat down, looking down at your clothes in confusion. You hadn’t even realized that in your mess of an emotional state, you had put on a hoodie that was definitely hers, instantly comforted by the familiar smell.
“Ugh, I’m sorry, I didn’t even realize I had it. I’ll wash it and get it back to you tomorrow.”
“Oh no, mi amiga, keep it. I like seeing you in it.” suddenly her voice had gotten much quieter than usual.
“Mapi, don’t be ridiculous, this is one of your favorites.”
“No, I mean it. You’re keeping it.”
You felt tears brimming your eyes once again and tried to blink them away, partially from your emotions from the night catching up to you, and partially filled with appreciation for the girl in front of you.
“Amiga, are you crying?”
“NO. No, I’m fine. I’m just tired.”
“Vale, vale, bien. You’re not crying, I’m just gonna give you a hug, because I want to then, not because you’re crying, because you definitely aren’t crying, I’m just giving you a hug for no reason.” You rolled your eyes at the way she smiled at you, seeing right through you like she always did before pulling you into a hug. Mapi always seemed to know you better than you liked to admit, allowing you to instantly relax in her arms. “You’re adorable.” she mumbled into your shoulder, quietly enough that it took you a second to process her words that she likely didn’t intend for you to hear.
“What’d you just say, Mapi?”
“Hmm?” she pulled away to look at you. “Oh. Nothing.” Her head shook quickly, as if she had no idea what you were talking about, something that made you smile at her once again.
“Maps, I know I probably shouldn’t tell you this but I don’t know who else to tell other than you and I just need to get it off my chest.” She looked at you expectantly, waiting for you to continue. “I’m always so scared of girls and dating and all of that.” You looked up at her, “I don’t know why I’m telling you this, you know that already.” You were met with an encouraging smile as you thought about what you wanted to say next. “But I never could figure out why I was so scared. I just could never get comfortable with anyone and I think I’ve always been terrified of getting hurt if I let my walls down. But lately I feel like I’ve realized that you’re the only person that I ever feel completely comfortable with. And you’re the only person that I’m not worried about hurting me. And I don’t know what to make of that, and it scares me, and you’re literally my favorite person in the world, and I just-” You took a deep breath in an attempt to prevent yourself from getting even more worked up. “I just needed to get it off my chest.”
Mapi was silent in thought for a minute but reached out to grab your hand, her way of letting you know that she wasn’t upset but just needed a second to think before responding. When she finally did, her voice was shaky and much less animated than you typically heard it. “You know how I am with dating. You know I’d rather just hook up with people and play around.” This was not at all what you expected her to say, raising your anxiety even further. “I never saw myself being able to settle down. It was always too scary. I’d rather put no feelings into it and just have fun than risk someone else fucking me up. But something about you, changes that for me. There’s a reason I haven’t been hooking up with anyone lately. You were my best friend before you were anything else, amor, and I don’t want to put that at risk.” Her eyes glanced up at you hesitantly, barely whispering out her last words, “But you make the idea of settling down seem easy.”
If you thought you were confused before, it couldn’t even compare to how you felt now. Your mind was running on overdrive, trying its best to make sense of her confession. You’d never in life seen Mapi look so scared and vulnerable, something that was saying a lot as you had seen her at some major low points. She was hardly making eye contact with you, and was more fidgety than usual- picking at her nails and tapping her foot.
The defender took a huge deep breath, before giving your hands a squeeze. She could easily see the way your thoughts were spiraling and knew she would have to be the one to say what you were both thinking.
“Why don’t we stop pretending we still think of each other as friends? Cause I don’t know if I can do that anymore.”
You looked up at her surprised, just now realizing that she was serious in sharing the feelings you had. “Mapi are you for real? And don’t fuck with me right now, cause I swear-”
She giggled slightly at your reaction, stopping you in your tracks, “En serio, amor. Prometo.” You could tell that she was. Her face was as serious as she ever was.
“Then let’s not be just friends anymore.”
You hardly realized the way the two of you had drifted closer throughout your conversation, both of you speaking much quieter, only a few inches apart. “I want to show you what you deserve, treat you like the queen you are, and show you how much I love everything about you.” Both of you were looking all over the other’s face, your eyes bouncing from her lips, back up to her eyes, and taking in everything in between. If you could memorize every freckle in that moment, you would’ve.
“Then do it, Maps.”
There was maybe only an inch separating you, but for some reason she was still scared of messing it up. "Am I reading this wrong? If I am.. push me away." Your noses brushed together as you could feel her breath on yours. When you didn’t hesitate at her words, she took that as the approval she needed, instantly pressing her lips against yours. The chemistry between you was more than either of you had felt with anyone else, finally doing exactly what you didn’t realize you had been waiting for along.
Hope you enjoyed! Requests are open and appreciated!

That awkward smile
Alexia Putellas x reader
You return to Barcelona and are faced with having your ex as your captain
Tumblr media
Masterlist
“What are you doing here?” you jumped slightly as you heard the one voice you were dreading the most when you transferred to Barcelona, your ex. It was your first day at the training grounds, meeting with different administrative staff to finish paperwork and do your medical assessments. Your transfer hadn’t been announced yet but for some reason you assumed that Alexia would’ve known since she was captain.
You stopped to look up at her. It was the first time you had seen each other in over a year. Of course you had seen pictures online, and seen her in passing at different awards nights, but you hadn’t truly been face to face in a long time. You knew that obviously she would be your captain after you transferred here, but hadn’t mentally prepared to see her so soon, before you had really made it inside.
“I’m transferring here, just finalizing everything today.” There was an awkward tension in the air as you spoke, saying only the bare minimum in hopes of ending the conversation as quickly as possible. You knew it was going to be uncomfortable between you at first but it had been long enough and the two of you were professional enough that you figured it would get better with time.
“Oh!” the blonde looked at you surprised, clearly not having been told this news ahead of time. Although you noticed how the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, definitely not angry about your presence, but still struggling to decide what she wanted to say. “Well… I’m sure you’ll be a good addition to the pitch. Let me know if you need anything while you get settled here.” You gave her a short nod, grateful for her breaking the tension between you and hopefully putting your shared past behind you.
The two of you had dated years ago. You had played together on the Spanish national team for most of your lives before you started dating. You were together for almost two years, most of that time being really great. But once you decided to leave the national team after the 2022 Euros, it was the beginning of the end for your relationship. After you left the national team, the two of you rarely saw each other due to you playing in the WSL. You were both young and busy and the long distance destroyed the connection between you. She was focused on her recovery and you were focused on your career. The stress in your lives and the distance between you led to both of you frequently taking your anger out on each other, eventually putting an end to your relationship.
You loved Alexia. When your relationship was at its best, you were the epitome of a classic football power couple. Everyone was rooting for you, including you. She was so good to you. You both were fiercely independent and made room for that in your relationship, always having the space you needed to continue to develop. You made each other better in almost every way. All your friends and family could see it, you pushed each other in exactly the way you needed, in ways that most people couldn’t.
It was hard to forget the way you loved her, the way she loved you. At some point, you knew you wanted to talk to her, have a real conversation about all of it. Your breakup had been rough, both of you had said things you shouldn’t have, both of you left hurt and without closure. It wasn’t either of your fault’s- you each played a role in your own downfall. You hoped at the very least, you had matured enough to get the closure you needed and put your past behind you, if nothing else, for the success of the team.
.
You were in the middle of doing media photos when you heard another familiar voice. “Zorri, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me you were coming here! I had to find out through Alexia?!”
“Mapi!!!” you took off running towards her, fully abandoning the photographer so you could practically tackle the defender in a hug. “I wanted to surprise you! I missed you!”
Mapi was one of your best friends. You were bonded closely from your similar experiences with the national team and had been there for each other through it all, no matter how far away you were. She was one of the only reasons you still visited Spain frequently, always staying close no matter how far away you lived. Mapi had been there for the breakup between you and Alexia and had seen how hard it had been on both of you. Honestly, she was half the reason you had transferred to Barcelona. Of course you wanted to see her more often, but more than that, she had given you the confidence you needed to trust that you could succeed there amongst some of the greatest players in the world.
“I missed you, it’s been too long since you came to see me.” The Zaragozan gave you a playful glare wrapping her arm around your shoulders to keep you close.
“Well now I don’t have to visit you cause I’ll be living here!”
“It’s about time you did! Ingrid will be happy that she doesn’t have to worry about me hogging the phone when you call.”
“Yeah well now I’ll finally get to talk to Ingrid again, won’t I?” she gave you a little shove as she rolled her eyes while you just laughed at her, happy to finally be back with your best friend.
“Hey I’ll wait for you to finish up your media, then I can take you to go say hi to everyone? We all just finished up on the pitch.” You gave her a nod before going back to the photographer that you had left behind to wrap up the few pictures you had left.
.
Most of the team you already knew from your time with the national team or through Mapi, but you were still somewhat nervous to officially meet them. Barcelona was known for being a tight knit team and you were nervous to have to come into that. Of course your history with Alexia didn’t help matters- did she tell people about you? Do they know how poorly your breakup went? What if they all hate you because they think you hurt her?
Having Mapi by your side as she led you to the locker room brought you some amount of comfort. At the very least, you knew she and Ingrid would always have your back, no matter what happened with the rest of the team. But even next to your best friend, you were most nervous about facing Alexia again. Even though you had already seen her briefly in the hallway earlier, something about this felt different- more official. Now you had signed all the papers and there was no going back, making it all the more terrifying.
Just in front of the locker room doors, Mapi stopped you to try to give you some encouragement before facing the entire team waiting for you on the other side of the door. She took both of your hands in hers and looked at you closely, “Hey, look at me. You’re gonna be fine. You know most of them already, and we all already love you, you don’t need to be so nervous.” You nodded at her, thankful she could read your thoughts so easily. “Vamos bien?”
The defender pulled you in for a quick hug before leading you through the doors to face the team.
The team seemed to be all smiles as Mapi introduced you, ready to welcome you with open arms. Very few of the girls were new to you and they seemed to all be unaware of your history with their captain, who you had a difficult time tearing your gaze from. The blonde kept her eyes on the ground, barely looking up at you as you made your way around the room to talk with everyone.
Everyone knew how unusual it was for Alexia to be this quiet and shy around the team. With other people, sure, but not with the team. Especially when it involved a new signing, the captain would normally be the first one to greet them and introduce them to everyone. Some people knew that you had dated, anyone who had been on the national team at the time had seen it first hand, but most people knew nothing about your breakup. All of them were used to teammates dating and breaking up so it didn’t phase them. The weird part of all of it was Alexia’s current behavior, and how she suddenly appeared extremely insecure.
As you made your way around the locker room, she finally was able to look up at you when you got closer. You approached her slowly, unsure of what you were supposed to say, noticing the tight lipped smile she gave you. For Alexia, you knew her well enough to know that the awkward half-smile was her attempt at being normal, just not fully sure how to do so. If she was truly mad at you, it’d be much more clear to you, knowing she wouldn’t have made any kind of attempt to be nice.
You gave her a soft smile in return, pulling her into a friendly hug, almost as a thank you for her not holding your past against you. The hug was supposed to be short, just a friendly gesture to show your forgiveness, but apparently the blonde had other plans. She held onto you tightly, much longer than you had anticipated before she pressed a soft kiss to your shoulder and pulled away. Her hands remained on your shoulders so she could talk to you before you moved on to say hello to the next person. “Can we get coffee or something sometime so we can talk?”
“I’d like that, Ale. Are you free after this?” She gave you a big smile, the first you’d seen from her, before nodding. Her large hands gave your shoulders a squeeze before letting go to allow you to keep talking to your new teammates.
The idea of getting to talk to Alexia, finally getting the closure that you never got before, maybe being on good terms again- it all made you excited. Should you try to be friends again? It might be really great for you, you obviously had been close in the past, maybe a friendship would work better. You knew in the back of your head that you still loved her. How could you not? But you’d push that thought down as far as you possibly could, knowing it wasn’t what you needed at the moment. You just wanted to be on good terms again.
The room started to empty out as everyone was tired from the day of training and ready to go home. You slowly made your way back to Alexia’s cubby, waiting for her to finish changing and getting ready after her shower. The blonde made her way back to you, still drying her hair with a towel before looking at you, almost as if she were surprised you actually waited for her. “You know, I always knew you’d look good in some Barca stuff,” she nodded down at the plethora of Barcelona apparel you had been given to wear.
You raised your brow at her, her confidence clearly returning, “Is this your attempt at flirting with me Putellas?”
“That depends, is it working?” The blonde smirked back at you, feeling much more comfortable now that the rest of the time wasn’t around to watch. She just chuckled at the way you rolled your eyes at her, grabbing her bag as she did so. “Ready to go? I can drive you if you want?”
“That sounds perfect, Reina” You knew the nickname always annoyed her, causing you to use it constantly. You giggled as you followed her out, even more hopeful than before for whatever this talk would entail.
.
The car ride to the cafe was peaceful. There was some light small talk, catching up with each other while also avoiding what you knew you were there to talk about. You talked casually about life, and football, and what your families had been up to in the past year. When she pulled up outside the small cafe, she led you inside and straight to the counter. “Do you still have the same coffee order?”
You were taken aback by her question, shocked that she could possibly still remember your order. Alexia took your silence as confirmation, ordering for you before you could even process it. She just offered you another smile, still humored by your reaction before leading you to her favorite table.
“Thank you, Ale. Seriously. You didn’t need to buy my drink. And thank you for being willing to talk with me.”
She wiped at her mouth softly, “Of course. I wanted to talk to you too,” she paused, “I want to apologize… for how things ended with us.” Her eyes hit the floor again, seemingly embarrassed of her feelings.
“I’m sorry too. We both were just in a bad place, and took it out on each other. The breakup was the right thing at the time.”
“We weren’t ready for it. For any of it. We thought we had life figured out and then it all came crashing down.”
“Do you think we could be ready for it now… maybe?” you basically whispered, not sure what you were trying to get at. You had no intention coming into this conversation with any plan of trying to get back together. It had been over a year since you had talked, you might not even get along anymore, hell she might not even be single anymore. And here you were, already about to ruin everything.
“I think we could be. Maybe if we just take it slow, and don’t rush into anything, we can just see how it goes,” she spoke with more uncertainty than you had ever seen from her before. “I want to treat you how I didn’t before. If you’ll let me.”
You gave her another soft smile, something you’d done a lot with her today, “I think that’s a good idea. I think just taking it easy to see what happens, not forcing anything. No matter what happens though, I don’t want to lose you, Ale. If it doesn’t go well, I need you to promise that we’ll stay friends still. I can’t lose the one person I love, not over some stupid shit.”
The serious look on her face suddenly switched to a smirk, “The one person you love?”
“Yes, Ale, love. Are you really gonna pretend you don’t still love me? I know that weird half-smile at me in the locker room would say otherwise.” you rolled your eyes at her, knowing that you were right. It was clear that you had both pushed away more feelings than you realized in the past year.
“Hmmm you know me too well, amor.” She grabbed your hand and brought it to her lips, pressing a kiss to the back of it before leaning her head on your joined hands. Your favorite girl just stared at you with a big not awkward smile on her face, excited about your future, and about where your relationship would go from here. Wherever that would be, you both knew it would be good.
I feel like the ending was super rushed, I kinda hate it, so sorry.

The Wall
Mapi Leon x Teen!Reader
Inspired by the song "The Wall" by GroupLove
“Just sitting on a wall, always trying to do it all” “Really wanna get away, to where I couldn’t say” “Yeah we got lucky, fell into place” “We found some friends, some stayed some passed away”
A/N: The timeline is a little funky, I know Leila didn't leave in the middle of the season but we're gonna pretend for the sake of the story. Even though I posted the lyric, nobody dies, just overall angsty, more parts to come.

“You ready to go, amiga?” Mapi shouted across the house at you even though she already knew the answer. You were always ready long before she or Ingrid ever were. It wasn’t unusual for you to be up extra early to start your day with a run or at the very least, a long walk. At only 19, you hadn’t been playing with the senior team long and wanted to do everything you possibly could to prove yourself, even if it meant getting up at four in the morning.
When you’d been called up to the senior team, Mapi and Ingrid had insisted that you move into their spare room to help you get adjusted until you settled in better. Originally, they had pitched the idea in order to make sure you were taking care of yourself and doing everything you needed to to be successful with the team. They had no idea how prepared you already were. Still, many of the older girls had taken you under their wing, Mapi more than anyone. She was highly protective of you and was always making sure you were doing okay, even if you didn’t normally need it. They rarely had to do much, as you were one of the hardest working members of the team.
Some might call you a perfectionist, type A, or maybe a bit obsessive, but what you were doing was working. You would do anything it took to be the best footballer you could possibly be. Getting up early was just the start. You were always eating as healthy as possible with very few cheat days. You had done plenty of research on nutrition and everything you needed to eat (and not eat) to perform at your best so you always stuck to that. You often watched film from each game at least two to three times beyond what the team watched in training. That was your favorite way to improve yourself when your body really needed a break from training. It wasn’t a lot but it was everything you needed. Everything you needed to be enough.
You grabbed your bag and joined Mapi and Ingrid in heading to the car to go to training. Ingrid sat down in the driver’s seat while Mapi plugged in her phone to play some music that you didn’t even recognize. As you sat in the backseat, you were slightly lost in thought, thinking of what you needed to work on today. Speed and endurance were always something you tried to improve but maybe it was more important today to focus on your passing accuracy but also you needed to work on your shooting or maybe-
“Hey did you hear me?” Your thoughts were interrupted as Ingrid snapped you back into the real world.
“Hmm? Sorry.” You mumbled as you gathered your thoughts back to focus on the two girls in front of you. “What’d you say?”
“Leila said you were going with her after training? Is that right?” Of course you were forgetting something- your dinner plans with Leila. You sighed gently, trying to straighten out your schedule in your head.
“Oh, umm, yeah. We wanted to go to this new restaurant. I guess I forgot.” Because she was sitting in front of you, you missed the way Ingrid’s brow furrowed at the lack of enthusiasm in your response. Leila had become like a fun older sister to you. The two of you got dinner together at least once a week and were typically causing some sort of trouble during training. She kept you from taking yourself too seriously, worried that if you went unchecked you’d spiral under the amount of pressure you placed on yourself. Like many of the older girls, she had taken it upon herself to protect you. It was different with Leila because she treated you as more of an equal rather than a child. Because of this, everyone knew how much you cherished your time with her.
Mapi took the opportunity to lightly tease you for your weird behavior, “don’t get too excited there, chica.” She turned to look at you, trying to gauge your reaction to her comment.
It didn’t offend you, although you still didn’t laugh. You just weren’t really bothered by the comment at all. “Sorry, just thinking about other stuff.”
The older two girls had let it go, changing the subject as you got closer to the training grounds. You missed the look of nervousness shared between the two of them as you got lost in your thoughts once again.
~
You remained focused all throughout training, focusing on the things you needed to improve- speed, endurance, strength, passing, shooting, accuracy- the list in your head was miles long. Anytime the other girls would joke around, they knew you typically needed some coaxing to join in. However anytime one of your closer friends would get you in on it, that’s usually all it took. Leila was your weak spot, sometimes Pina too. They were always able to break down your walls of focus and seriousness and allow yourself to have a little fun. If it weren’t for them (and the rest of your team’s antics), everyone knew you’d sink into your perfectionism even further.
As you walked off the field at the end of the session, it was Pina that spoke to you first. “Hey, some of us are going out tomorrow night, you’re in right?”
Your face contorted with uncertainty, torn between the idea of having fun with your friends for a night and knowing you could use the sleep to prepare for Sunday's match.
Suddenly, an arm wrapped around your shoulders and you instantly recognized it as Leila’s, “Si, she’ll be there. Even if I have to drag her out myself.”
Well there was your answer. You gave the two girls a shrug, knowing you’d enjoy the time out with them. A little relaxation couldn’t hurt, right? You deserved it after how hard you had been working so far this season. And just because you went out didn’t mean you had to drink yourself into oblivion. You’d still be plenty prepared for the next match. As you all got ready to leave, Claudia filled you in on the plans, making you look forward to the night even more.
There was a newfound lightness in your step as you followed Leila to her car and went to the restaurant for dinner. You were excited for tomorrow night with everyone. It had been awhile since you’d let your guard down and just had fun for a night so you knew it’d be good for you. You knew how much you needed it and were thankful your friends were able to give you the little push you needed to agree. You were thankful for your friends until you got to dinner with Leila and learned the true reasons behind the night out.
You were sitting across from her, in the corner of the small restaurant when she broke the news to you- she’d be transferring to Manchester. The party tomorrow night was to have one last celebration together before she left. Instantly your chest tightened. She continued talking, explaining why it was a good decision and that she’d always be there to support you no matter how far away she was. However none of this registered to you. The second she said the words, you quit processing anything else.
Manchester? Why Manchester? How could she leave Barcelona? How could she leave you? She always said you were like family but you don’t just leave your family behind. Was Barcelona not good enough for her anymore? Or worse yet, did she not think she was good enough for Barcelona? If that was the case, how could you ever be good enough for Barca? Or for Leila for that matter? If you were a good enough “sister” to her, she would have no reason to want to leave, to go so far away.
Leila managed to pull you out of your thoughts when she reached across the table to hold your hand. “Hey, take a breath, it’s okay. You can still call me whenever you need anything, I’ll still come visit. You’ll be okay, I promise.”
She squeezed your hand tightly, trying to get you to meet her eyes, but you just couldn’t do it. You knew she had talked about not renewing her contract but you clearly had been too naive to think it could actually happen. Suddenly it hit you that other people must have already known. If Claudia had already had the time to plan a party, when did she find out about this? Had you been the last to find out?
“(y/n),” she squeezed your hand again, tighter this time, getting concerned at how you still had yet to respond.
Suddenly you were snapped back into reality, shaking your head quickly, “I’ve gotta go, I’m sorry.” Leila could hardly hear you as you mumbled, barely coherent. Frantically, you had pushed away from the table and made your way towards the door. You were almost running as you finally made it outside.
The cool evening air hit you hard. It helped you steady your breathing slightly, feeling less choked by the air of the restaurant. You didn’t notice how much your hands were shaking until you grabbed your phone to call Mapi, hoping she could pick you up.
In the time it took you to unlock your phone and pull up her contact, Leila appeared next to you. “Don’t be ridiculous, chiquita. I will drive you, come on.” She grabbed your hand before you had the chance to argue and led you to her car. Her silence was unusual but you hardly noticed, consumed by your thoughts.
Her heart broke when she saw your reaction. Obviously Leila knew you’d be upset but she couldn’t have imagined you’d take it this hard. The Spaniard was consumed with guilt as she tried her best to focus on the road ahead. It had crossed her mind that maybe she should have told you sooner but she wanted to make sure it was completely finalized first. You’d have other people that could step into her role when she was gone, people that would make sure you’d be taken care of. And like she said, she’d still be just a phone call away. Hopefully you just needed a night to let the shock wear off so you could both enjoy your time together before she had to leave.
You hardly realized that you had arrived in front of Mapi and Ingrid’s, the entire care ride being completely silent until now. “Chiquita, can we please talk?” She was still met with complete silence from you, taking it as an invitation to continue on. “Listen, I’m sorry. I should have talked to you sooner but I just-”
“It’s fine.” you shrugged her off, her face full of confusion.
“But, I should’ve-”
“Leila, it’s fine. I’m fine. I’ve got to go.”
“But (y/n), I-” and you were gone. Leila let out an exasperated sigh when you slammed the car door shut, mid sentence. So much for talking to you. The older woman texted Mapi, hoping she’d be able to talk to you in a way that was more successful than what had just happened.
Mapi had just read Leila’s message when you trudged through the front door. She decided not to let you know what Leila had told her, trying to see how much you’d be willing to share on your own. Committing to her plan, she greeted you, just as chipper as always, “Hola, Amiga! How was Leila?”
You responded with a shrug, doing your best to push your feelings down. If you just pushed them away, you’d be fine, right? “She was fine.” Mapi and Ingrid shared a look of concern at you making a beeline for your room. Once you made it to your room, then you could handle whatever you were feeling, but you weren’t about to do that in front of them.
Your plan would’ve worked out if it weren’t for Ingrid making one last attempt to get you to talk, “Hey, did you want to join us for a movie night?” You were so close, your door right in front of you. You pressed your forehead against the door, taking a strangled deep breath in an attempt to keep your emotions at bay. “(y/n)?” They shared another glance, concerned by your reaction.
Almost in slow motion, you turned silently to face the pair. “Did you know?” You choked over your words. You didn’t plan on talking about it tonight. You didn’t know how to face this news but you had to know the answer. Did Leila really tell everyone but you? The silence from Mapi told you everything you needed to know. All you could do was turn and take refuge in your bedroom.
As soon as the door shut, you pressed your back against it and slid down until you met the ground. Knowing you well, Mapi knew you’d want some time to handle it yourself. You were fiercely independent, always acting much older than you were. Sometimes Mapi had to remind others how young you were, making sure nobody went too hard on you. At times she had to remind you of that as well. Remind you that you were still learning, still figuring out life. Mapi admired your maturity but was also terrified that it would end up breaking you. She knew if she tried to follow you know, you’d push her out even further and want to try to fix it yourself first.
If only she could see you- sitting on the floor, tears rolling down your face as you choked down sobs. Your whole body shook, filled to the brim with emotions that you were too scared to let out. Your cries continued, much longer than ever before.
At some point during your crying, you had made your way into bed. The blankets and pillows provided you little comfort from the world inside your head. You didn’t even realize you had cuddled up with a sweatshirt of Leila’s. You borrowed it once when you were chilly and she let you keep it after she saw how much you loved it. It was instinctual for you to reach for it in times of stress so of course you hugged it tightly as you cried over the idea of her leaving you. Eventually, your cries seemed to tire you, succumbing to the exhaustion and falling into an uneasy sleep.
~
When Mapi and Ingrid had finished their movie and you were still yet to emerge from your room, they knew they needed to check up on you. Mapi being the closest with you, always took it upon herself to play the role of mother when you needed it. She knocked on your door lightly, expecting some sort of response. When she was met with none, she pressed her ear against your door, hoping to hear something that’d give her an idea of how you we doing. With still no response, she gently pushed the door open.
Upon seeing you, Mapi let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. You were curled up on your bed, fast asleep. She quietly sat down next to you, taking in your stressed appearance. Your face was still stained from tears, your eyes puffy and red. The older woman pushed some hair away from your face and ran her thumb over your eyebrows, hoping to relax the crease that remained on your face. It was clear to her who’s sweatshirt it was that you were gripping tightly. Mapi realized that while you were clearly sad, you must not be too angry at Leila herself. You wouldn’t be snuggled into her sweatshirt if you were mad at her.
Mapi pulled up your blanket around your shoulders and pressed a light kiss to your forehead, assuming that you’d be feeling better in the morning. Of course it would be hard on you to see one of the closest people in your life move away but Mapi knew she and Ingrid would be with you to help, no matter what it took. You were a hard worker, resilient in nature. There was no reason for anyone to expect you to be anything but that.
~
The next morning, Mapi was surprised when she entered the kitchen and didn’t see any trace of you. Sometimes you’d be up, cooking breakfast or at the very least, she’d see your empty mug in the sink which communicated that you’d had your coffee before going on a run. When she looked closer, she noticed your shoes and training bag already gone. Intending to call you, she opened her phone just to notice an unread message from you:
Wanted to train early. Used my run to run here. See you later.
Mapi’s face contorted as she read your message. How early had you left? The training grounds weren’t exactly close and would’ve taken a long time to run there. You were probably exhausted after being so upset the night before but maybe you wanted that run to clear your head and would talk with her afterwards.
~
Mapi and Ingrid arrived to training early, hoping to catch you before the rest of the team showed up. They stopped in the locking room first, thinking you’d be taking a break there and waiting for everyone else. When they didn’t find you there, they went on to the gym, the physio rooms, and the cafeteria- all of which remained empty. They hesitantly decided to check the pitch, confused as to why you’d be willing to spend more time in the sun on top of the time you’d spend outside for team training.
Of course that’s where they found you- on the side of the pitch running sprints. You didn’t notice them, fully lost in your own head, running as fast as your body would take you. Your lungs were burning. At this point, you had no idea how long you’d been running, definitely over an hour.
But you needed to. You had to get faster. You had to work harder. You had to prove that your spot on the team was not from getting lucky. You had worked for it. You were still working for it.
Maybe if you ran fast enough, you could run away from all your problems. Run away from here. Run away from being lonely. Or stressed. Or tired. Or insecure. Or not good enough. You didn’t need anyone’s help- not Leila’s, not Ingrid, not Mapi. You had to do this yourself. You had to work harder.
Mapi froze- watching you run yourself to exhaustion. She had never seen you like this. She’d seen you struggle but she’d never seen this. How would she even begin to help you? Clearly you couldn’t continue in this headspace but right now your friend was completely lost as to where to even begin with you. She sent Ingrid back inside, knowing her best chance at getting you to open up was if you were alone.
“Amiga! Come on! Come take a break before training starts!” Her shouting across the pitch at you was the first you were made aware of her presence. You shook your head at her and continued your sprints, not bothering to look her way. Your lungs didn’t have the capacity to use your voice at the moment. “Si, vamos! It was not a suggestion, you have to be done out here!” Once again, you ignored her.
The older woman let out a heavy sigh, knowing she was going to have to stop you herself. She did just that as she lightly jogged towards you, intending on intercepting your path. You didn’t even notice what she was doing until you suddenly struggled to avoid running into her. You stumbled over your feet while she grabbed at your shoulders, hoping to help steady you. With how fast you had been going, it was difficult trying to stop your momentum so suddenly- something she should have known before trying to get in your way.  As soon as you had steadied, you were filled with anger and Mapi’s hands holding onto you tightly were not helping. The Zaragozan had no idea the amount of rage you were about to unleash onto her.

“Ale, will you pass me my lip gloss?” you both were standing in front of your vanity, getting ready for a night out with the team. You had just won a big game with Barcelona so of course everyone was going out to celebrate.
“Only if I get a kiss first,” Alexia gave you a teasing smile as she passed it over to you. You never turned down a chance to kiss your girlfriend, especially with how excited you were to go out with her tonight. Even though she was known for never drinking during the season, she had promised that she’d loosen up and have fun tonight which had you reeling in anticipation.
You smiled up at her as you chased her lips again, eager for the night ahead of you. It’d been awhile since the team had gone out because of how busy your match schedule had been. Of course it had been even longer since Alexia had actually participated in these nights out so it really made tonight feel special.
Normally neither of you took very long to get ready, just adding some light makeup and changing clothes. But because tonight felt so special, you both wanted to make the most of it. Each of you had finished off a couple glasses of wine while you took your time doing your hair and makeup. Alexia had put on some music while the two of you danced around your bathroom, constantly being distracted by each other.
“Amor, hair up or down?” you stopped what you were doing and stepped back from the mirror to help answer your girlfriend’s question.
Your head tilted as you tried to help her decide, “hmmm, I can’t pick, you’ll look perfect either way so just do whichever will be more comfortable.” She pouted at your lack of help as you leaned up to peck her lips again. “I don’t know why you always ask, we both know I can never decide, Ale.”
Alexia tried her best to hide her growing smile, unable to continue her pout when you were there to give her kisses. “Cause I value your opinion and you have good ideas,” she shrugged at you like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Maybe hair up. It’ll probably be hot so then it’s out of your way?” you tried to offer her some sort of guidance even if it wasn’t a lot.
“See I knew you would know. You always do,” The blonde pulled you in for yet another kiss before pulling her hair back into a neat low ponytail.
Everyone always said Alexia was quiet and stoic. In a way, maybe she was, but you rarely saw that side of her. Socially awkward, sure. But not usually stoic. When she was with you she was rarely quiet. That was her time to let it all out, to not hold back. You were never going to judge her so she felt safe being her full self around you. She was somewhat chatty with her friends but with you she literally never stopped talking. Sometimes it surprised people but you were used to it. You loved it. Alexia was always making sure that you knew how much she loved you, constantly showering you with compliments.
It wasn’t long before your girlfriend let you know that your Uber would be at your house in the next ten minutes. Alexia left the room to finish getting ready while you put the finishing touches on your makeup.
When you greeted her by the front door, you were blown away by how good she looked. She had on a short-sleeved black button down that clearly had nothing underneath it. It had just enough buttons undone to drive you insane, and you wouldn’t be surprised if a few more opened as the night went on. Your jaw was hanging open as you stared at her, lost in her beauty.
Because of your own distraction, you had no idea Alexia was looking the exact same way at you. “Amor. You are so…” she struggled to find the word she wanted to describe you, “perfect. More than perfect.” You snapped out of your daze as she pulled you into her by your hips. All you could do was kiss her hard. “I cannot believe how beautiful you are,” she mumbled against your lips as she returned the gesture. “I am so in love with you, you don’t even know.” This wasn’t unusual for her- trying her best to talk to you and kiss you at the same time. Sometimes it was the only way she knew to express all her feelings for you.
Your hands reached for the back of her neck, pulling her closer, being careful not to mess up her hair. “Just kiss me, Ale,” you practically moaned into her mouth. All of the sudden you were interrupted by her phone buzzing aggressively. You both groaned loudly as you reluctantly separated for her to see what the notification was.
“Uber’s here amor.” your foreheads were pressed together as you both tried to catch your breath. She separated herself further before leaving one last kiss softly on your lips. “We continue this later, vale?” All you could do was nod your head desperately as Alexia grabbed your purse for you and led you out the door.
Once you were both in the car, Alexia’s hand immediately found its way to your thigh. Your mind was running wild with anticipation for the night ahead of you. The night was going to be perfect. The team was finally going to have the time to let loose together and have fun. They really were your best friends, your family. Obviously afterwards with Alexia was going to be equally as fun, but you were still excited for the time with all your friends before that
You looked over to your girlfriend, only to see her staring at you with intensity in her eyes. Her look made you blush, just as it always did. The look on her face made you giggle, “Why are you staring at me, Ale?” You asked her teasingly, mocking the way her jaw had gone slack.
Alexia wasn’t phased by your teasing, not even hesitating with her response, “Because you’re beautiful.” She smiled at you and offered you a shrug, once again acting like it was the most obvious answer in the world. “And cause it’s cute when you blush.” The smile on her face had transformed into more of a smirk. You just shook your head at her. You should probably be used to her compliments at this point but it made you blush just as much as when you first met.
~
It wasn’t long until you arrived at the club and Alexia was leading you in, holding your hand tightly. Instantly, Mapi was yelling over at the two of you, “This round’s on you, Capitana! (Y/N) get over here and come see me!” Mapi’s words were already slurring as you broke apart from your girlfriend and joined the rest of the team.
The second you reached them, Pina threw an arm around your shoulders and passed you a drink, ready for you to join the party. “I hear Capi’s drinking tonight, si?” The smirk was clear in her voice, excited to see her mentor let loose for once. You nodded and gave her a smirk in return, equally as excited as she was.
It’s not that you minded when she stayed sober, she was still plenty of fun. It was admirable to everyone the amount of self control had. Your girlfriend always encouraged you to drink what you wanted and she would take care of you. She would always drive everyone home and make sure everyone ended the night safely, especially you. You usually didn’t get too crazy but Alexia would still always make sure that you stayed hydrated and made it home in one piece.
“Hey Claudia, can I have my girlfriend back?” You giggled as Alexia pulled you into her side, watching as the younger girl raised her hands in self defense. Now that everyone had arrived, you all started your night with a few rounds of shots.
At some point, you had ended up on your girlfriend’s lap as you talked with some of your team. Alexia's hand was snaked around your waist, holding you against her tight. At times she’d settle her chin on your shoulder or place a kiss to it, whispering more compliments in your ear.
“Ale, I hear you’re having fun tonight, how many drinks in are you?” Mapi basically shouted as she tried to talk to your girlfriend who offered no response. “Ale?” still nothing. “Alexia!”
You turned your head over your shoulder to see Alexia finally snap out of whatever daze she had been in. “Que?” For once, she seemed to have no idea what was going on which made you and the rest of the table laugh.
“Quit staring at your girl! You’re forgetting about the rest of us!” Mapi looked at her with exasperation, basically whining. “You never get drunk with us so when you finally do you’re not allowed to ignore us. Come on, we’re dancing!” Mapi stood up quickly and the rest of the table seemed to be in agreement as everyone dispersed. In the process, someone had pushed another drink into your girlfriend's hand, hoping to see her really let loose tonight.
You looked at Alexia, prepared to try to convince her to join the others. Surprisingly, she spoke before you could, “well, let’s go dance, amor.”
Your eyes went wide as you did nothing to hide the shock from your face, “really?”
“I like looking at you, especially when you’re dancing. And I know you like it, so I want to have fun with you.” Your heart melted hearing her words. She would do anything for you and she was constantly showing you that.
Alexia gave your hips a gentle squeeze as she helped push you up so you could pull her to the dance floor. Some of your friends let out a cheer at the rare sight of their oh-so-professional captain joining in on the run. You were facing her as you both swayed your hips to the music, taking in the moment. You felt all your worries and responsibilities melt away as you got lost in the music pulsing through you.
The blonde’s hands wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer as the two of you continued to move against each other. “Dios mio, you look amazing,” she all but groaned in your ear as she continued to stare at you. Her words had slurred slightly, finally noticing the effects of the alcohol setting in. Because of how rarely she drank, it seemed that it didn’t take much for her to get drunk as she practically whined at you, “amor, let’s go get another drink.” Alexia was tugging at your arm, already starting to pull you towards the bar.
“How about some water first and then another drink,” you tried your best to bargain with her, not trying to get her too trashed. Your girlfriend nodded at you eagerly, before continuing to pull you to the bar. You caught up with her and wrapped an arm around her waist when she stumbled slightly. You decided that you weren’t going to be doing any more drinking yourself, instead focusing on taking care of Alexia. She had done it a million times for you so it was only fair that you took a turn.
When the two of you reached the bar, the Catalan pulled you into her, holding you against her in a makeshift hug. “Estas Bien, Ale?” If you were being the responsible one for the night, it seemed important to check in, especially when she was being clingier than normal. She typically didn’t show you this level of affection when the team was around, trying to keep it professional.
Alexia hummed, satisfied with the night so far. “I’m so proud of you. You know that right?” Once again, your girlfriend was always giving you praise, no matter what the circumstances were.
“Of course I do, I-” The two of you were interrupted by the bartender passing you your drinks (including Alexia’s water). You guided her back over to your table, hoping to give her a bit of a break before she continued.
“I just hope you know how proud of you I am. You’re the reason we won today, amor.” She looked deeply into your eyes, willing you to believe her words. “You just work so hard and I’m so glad you signed with us. You’ve been playing better than I’ve ever seen you play before and it’s all because of the hard work you’ve put in. You impress me so much, amor.” It almost looked like she was going to start crying with the way she looked at you. So serious but also opening up further thanks to the alcohol.
“Ale, I couldn’t have done any of it without your help. You’re the one that’s been pushing me and making me better.” She responded with a shake of the head before drinking some of the water you passed to her. She downed the glass quickly, before facing you again.
Her forehead pressed against yours as she continued her praise, “You know I love you, right? I love your voice and I love how you listen to me and let me talk and I love how you take care of me and how you focus on the things that you love and I really just love you, okay? I love everything about you. So much.” Her rambling left her slightly out of breath as she leaned into you further.
“Alexia Putellas I love you so so much,” you barely had words for all you were feeling. There weren’t words to express how much you loved the woman in front of you. How much you appreciated and admired her. “Do you think we should get you home, Ale? Hesitancy was clear in your voice. It’s not like she was wasted or anything but by her standards, she wasn’t far off. Being the one in charge of taking care of her, you were sure to take your job seriously just as your girlfriend always did for you.
“Noooooo,” Alexia suddenly sat up much straighter, trying to keep herself from swaying. “Can we dance a while longer? Por favor? Then we can go home after that.” Her pleas instantly convinced you as you smiled at her and placed a short kiss to her nose.
Your girlfriend giggled at your kiss which only triggered you to pepper a series of short kisses all over her face. She continued to giggle at you similarly to how a baby would respond to being tickled. As she often did, Alexia playfully pushed your face to the side, calming herself down slightly. “Amor, come dance,” she whined at you while pulling at your arm. Her unusually child-like behavior earned a chuckle from you as you stood up and followed her back to the dance floor.
Alexia stumbled and swayed a bit more as she made her way back to where some of the team still resided. You held onto her tightly, keeping her safe while still letting her have a bit more fun.
“Ale’s drunk!!!” Pina shouted as she jumped around you. Upon hearing this, cheers immediately erupted from the group. Alexia smacked Pina in the back of the head before also joining in the cheering. At that, the entire group erupted, everyone jumping and grinding against whoever was closest. Seeing your girlfriend finally let herself go filled everyone with joy. The whole group loved it but it was different for you. You had seen her at her lowest of lows. You knew how much she deserved this. How much she needed to relax like this. Especially when normally she was the one making sure everyone else was taken care of, it was nice that she finally got a turn.
This newfound surge of energy was entertaining for everyone. At one point, you found her trying to twerk against you which you made no effort to stop. Grabbing her hips from behind, you only encouraged her as some of the others cheered her on. You’d stop her if she did anything too embarrassing but you’d let it slide for now. It wasn’t like she hadn’t already seen the rest of you embarrass yourselves. It only seemed fair.
Mapi joined Alexia with two more drinks, one for each of them. You quickly decided that it’d be your girlfriend’s final drink of the night as you watched them have a contest to see who could chug faster. When Alexia won she immediately cheered for herself before giving Mapi a playful shove. Her best friend was clearly just as drunk as she was when she stumbled directly into Ingrid, barely able to hold herself up. Your girlfriend wasn’t doing much better, also tripping as she tried to celebrate her “win” with you.
Ingrid shared a look with you as you both held up your extremely inebriated girlfriends, deciding it was time to get them home before they could do anything else. You put in for an Uber as you started trying to get your girlfriend ready to go. You wrapped your arm around Alexia’s waist, trying to steady her as best you could. She was slightly taller than you and quite a bit stronger which made holding her more difficult than you expected. Normally she was the one carrying you out of the club after a long night.
“Here I got her,” Patri appeared out of nowhere, coming to your rescue. Sure she was drunk but nothing like your girlfriend. Between the two of you, you managed to get her outside just as your Uber was arriving. Alexia’s head came to lie on your shoulder, all but putting her entire weight against you despite Patri being significantly stronger than you. Of course Patri had to take a minute to laugh at you struggling to carry your girlfriend before finally helping you and getting your girlfriend settled into the backseat next to you. You gave her a quick thanks before the car started back towards your shared home.
You didn’t even realize that your girlfriend was still awake until she lifted her head from your shoulder slightly, “I love you so much, amor.” Her words were barely recognizable between how heavily her words slurred together along with how her accent had thickened. You gave her a soft smile though, touched by the sentiment as well as how she still made sure to use your native language, no matter how drunk she was. “I don’t feel like I tell you that enough.”
“Ale, you definitely tell me enough, I promise.” You smiled at the thought- she was quite literally always telling you how much she loved you. Like nonstop. Constantly.
Alexia’s head shook slightly before landing back on your shoulder. “I should tell you that more. You know if there was ever anyone who was made for me, it’d be you for sure.” Her words turned somewhat incoherent by the end of her sentence before her eyes fluttered shut. You pressed a long kiss to the top of her head. You knew you’d be in for a rough morning with her tomorrow but for now all you could do was revel in her words. It didn’t matter if she was drunk or sober or in front of her friends- Alexia would never stop confessing her love for you and you would never stop appreciating that.

Close your eyes
Alexia Putellas x reader
Inspired by the song "Close Your Eyes And Count To Ten" by GroupLove
You and Alexia take a moment to yourselves on your wedding night, soaking in your time together.
Mind-numbingly fluffy. A little obsessed with how soft and sweet this is. Genuinely one of my favorite songs, go give it a listen.

“Yeah we lay down in the sand, you took my clothes off with your hands,  I gotta say you look real pretty,  all the way from New York City”
“Hey,” Alexia leaned into your side, whispering in your ear. “Do you want to get out of here for a second? Just the two of us?”
You looked over at your wife with a shy smile on your face. Your wife. Oh how long you’d been waiting to call her that- your wife. You gave her a quick nod, excited to finally have a minute alone with her. You had both been so busy today, so caught up in making sure everything went smoothly. It was turning out to be the wedding of your dreams, both of your dreams, but neither of you really cared. You would’ve been happy getting married alone in a courthouse if it meant you’d finally get to call Alexia your wife.
She beamed at your response and took your hand, leading you outside, away from all your wedding guests. You were desperate for a few minutes alone, not for anything promiscuous, (not that you would mind it) but just to take in the moment with her. For a day that was supposed to be all about celebrating each other, you had gotten a shockingly small amount of time together.
Alexia quickened her pace once you made it outside. You giggled at her and how excited she was to get you away from the guests while she pulled you along.
“Ale, slow down, where are we going?” you were still laughing, doing your best to keep up but struggling in your wedding heels. She finally slowed to a stop and turned to face you, lacing both of your hands together.
You weren’t sure if you had ever seen her smiling so big. Not even after winning the world cup had she looked as genuinely elated as she did right now. “I thought we could go down to the beach for a few minutes?” She pressed a kiss to your nose, looking at you hopefully. Her face was like a little kid who was begging for more sweets.
“That sounds perfect, Ale.” you leaned up to kiss her once more before she turned and pulled you towards the beach once again. The two of you were running hand in hand and giggling endlessly as you made your way towards the sand. It was like a scene from a rom com that everyone said was too cheesy or too unrealistic. But not for you and Alexia.
As soon as you reached sand, Alexia slowed to a stop once again so both of you could take off your shoes. Neither of you were about to attempt running around in your heels in the sand. With the sand between your toes, Alexia’s hand returned to yours, leading you at a much more leisurely pace.
In the time you’d been together, the two of you spent a significant amount of time at the beach, somehow always managing to end up there after a long day. You’d had many dates there and of course it was wear she proposed. It only seemed fitting that you’d end up there on your wedding day too.
You walked silently, just taking in the night, listening to the waves crashing against the shore. The moon and the distant buildings were the only source of light as you stared up at your new wife, admiring her features as you walked. This wasn’t unusual for you but it was different today.
Alexia was wearing the most perfect white jumpsuit with a matching jacket. The white stood out against her sun-kissed skin and the curls in her hair perfectly framed her face. As soon as she noticed you staring, she pulled you to a stop, leaning down to kiss you. It was one of the softest kisses you had ever shared with her, filled with devotion to each other. One of her hands still held yours softly and the other came up to caress your face as you spoke.
“Alexia Putellas, I love you so much.”
“Mmm, and I love you, mi amor. More than you know,” she kissed you again, before pulling you slightly to join her in the sand. “Come, come sit.”
It’s not like you needed convincing. You’d do just about anything for her at this point, trusting her more than you trust yourself. It didn’t matter if the sand made your dress dirty or stained her jacket. All that mattered was you sitting in your wife’s arms, taking in this time together.
You sat facing each other, foreheads pressed together, one of her arms around your shoulders to keep you close. The two of you rotated between kissing each other and just admiring the beauty you shared- the beauty of your relationship. The more Alexia kissed you, the more you drifted away from the real world. Everything disappeared with her.
You linked your hands behind her neck, pulling your wife into you, closer than seemed possible. It was almost difficult for you to keep kissing, being interrupted by both of your constant smiles and giggles.
“Ale, you’re so pretty, you know that?”
She hummed in response before peppering more kisses over your face, loving the way you giggled at her. “I think you’ve mentioned it before, amor.”
You slid your hands down from her neck to her shoulders, pushing her jacket off of her so you could lay a line of kisses down her shoulder. Instead of continuing your kisses, you just laid your head on her bare shoulder, taking in the warmth of her skin.
You let out a content sigh, “today is so perfect, Ale.”
Her only response was a kiss to the top of your head, something she knew always brought you comfort.
“And the sunlight in your eyes,  pins and needles no surprise,  and the moon shines in your hair,  can you believe it, we're really here.”
“Can you believe that it’s actually our wedding day, amor?” You looked up at her with curiosity, confused by what she meant. “Like it’s actually our wedding day. The day we’ve been planning for so long and will tell our kids about and will hang pictures of in our house. I just love it, it’s perfect. We’re perfect.” She kissed you again, communicating all of her emotions through just that one kiss.
“You’re the cutest, Ale.”
“You’re the only one allowed to say that.” You both laughed lightly at the statement, knowing how true it was.
The light from the moon shining off the water made it clear that tears had pooled in her eyes. “Estas Bien?” You spoke softly, running your thumb under her eyes to catch any tears before they had the chance to fall.
“Más que bien. Estoy perfecto. No sabía que era posible ser tan feliz.” Her words were watery, overflowing with emotion. Alexia didn’t often allow herself to feel this deeply so you knew how sincere she was.
If you were being honest, you were barely holding it together yourself. Nobody made you feel as comfortable as the woman sitting in front of you now. You were so unapologetically yourself with her and she had truly changed your life for the better.
She had pulled you in tightly against her, holding you tighter than ever before. Her strong hold on you communicated the deep level of appreciation she held for you. And there you sat. On the beach, on your wedding night, in each other's arms, encapsulated by the love you shared.
“And it’s all handled, you close your eyes and count to ten”
You would stay like this forever if you could, perfectly safe from anything bad in the world, perfectly at home in your wife’s arms. But of course you knew this moment couldn’t last forever.
A small sigh left your mouth, knowing you should go back to your guests, “Ale, we should probably head back soon.”
She responded with a groan, knowing you were right but also not wanting this moment to end. “Let’s just take one more minute?” You gave her a look, knowing she’d likely try to draw it out longer until you forgot about the people waiting for you back at the venue. “Amor, everything’s taken care of. Just close your eyes for a second.” Her hands joined yours and once again your foreheads pressed together as her words turned to a whisper and you followed her directions. “Just breathe. Just take a minute to take this in before we have to go back there.” She gave your hands a squeeze as you both just sat, basking in the moment. You wished you could cement this memory in your brain forever and never let go of it.
After a few moments and some shared deep breaths, you slowly separated from each other. Alexia leaned in for one more passionate kiss before standing up and offering you her hand to join her. “Now,” she kissed your knuckles, “we’ve got a room full of every single one of our favorite people all waiting for us. Let’s go celebrate with them.”
“Talking about… talking. Talking about how you wanna live, we’ll call it metamorphosis”
The two of you returned to walking down the beach, back towards your wedding reception. You could hardly believe it. How lucky you were to be here with the love of your life, about to be surrounded by both of your loved ones. As you walked, one hand held your shoes and the other held your wife, swinging gleefully between you. You both giggled and talked, mostly nonsense hypotheticals about your futures.
“So, Ale, would you rather have a kid that sucks at football, or never get to have a dog?”
“Amorrrrrrr, why would you make me pick that? How would that even be a scenario?” You responded with more laughter, entertained by how she whined at you over the nonsensical question. The further you walked, the more ridiculous your questions became, eventually just turning into nonsense laughter between you.
When you arrived back in front of your wedding venue, you both came to a stop. “Amor, let me help you put your shoes back on before we go in.” Alexia knelt down in front of you, gently closing the buckle that went around your ankles. You shivered slightly as she pressed a kiss to the inside of your ankle bone before standing up to join you.
“I love you so much, Ale. So so much.”
“Mmm te amo mucho, mi amor.” She kissed you hard. “Now let’s go celebrate, yeah?” You smiled up at your wife as you pulled her behind you, returning to the wedding reception of your dreams.

Mapi Leon x Reader
Inspired by the love language physical touch- The team doesn't know you and Mapi are dating and you struggle to keep it hidden throughout your away game travels
Words of affirmation felt too obvious of a choice for the Mapi fic. I swear that eventually I will manage to write something shorter and less fluffy but today is not that day. Anyways, I'd love any feedback or requests any one has, my inbox is always open.

The team was unaware of your relationship with Mapi. Everyone knew you had been best friends for most of your lives and attributed your closeness to that. They knew you tended to be touchy and cuddly together but still never thought much of it because the two of you had always been that way. It also helped your case being Spanish. They were completely unaware that your relationship had turned romantic. They’d occasionally tease you for your closeness, but it didn’t bother you. You knew they meant no harm and often you were willing to join in joking.
Eight months ago, you and your best friend confessed your feelings for each other. Growing up together, you had only become closer as you got older. It didn’t surprise you. From the time you were a teenager, you knew your feelings for Mapi were different. For a while you couldn’t pinpoint why, it wasn’t until teammates would tease you about how you were “basically dating” that you realized it was true. Or at least you wanted it to be true. You learned to ignore those feelings, trying to preserve your friendship. It was more important to you to keep her close than to act on your feelings. However things changed when you had caught on that she might be feeling the same way. You’d catch her staring at you, looking at you differently than she used to. She’d always be doing little things to help you out- bringing you coffee, carrying your bag for you, buying you dinner. There were little touches here and there that just felt different. It was always small things but felt so big.
The longer you noticed your best friend acting this way, the more it drove you crazy. One day when you were out to breakfast with Alexia, you decided to get her opinion on the matter. You were tired of trying to ignore your feelings. She knew Mapi just as well as you did, and you knew she’d be honest with you. When you asked her if she thought there was any chance of Mapi sharing your feelings, the older woman looked at you like you were crazy. “Isn’t it obvious?” she said. “I thought you already knew, that girl’s crazy about you.”
From then on, your world changed. You left your breakfast date with Alexia to go straight to Mapi’s house- a place that was basically your second home. The two of you had a long conversation, spilling your hearts out to each other. You discussed what you wanted to do, how to move forward. Ultimately you had both decided you wanted to try dating but planned to take things slow, making sure you weren’t doing anything that could risk your friendship in the process.
Things couldn’t have gone better. Your friendship transitioned seamlessly into dating. It was better than either of you could have imagined (and you both spent plenty of time imagining it). In the last eight months, you continued to grow closer in ways you hadn’t even known possible and were happier than you had ever been before.
You had decided not to tell anyone about your relationship. It just seemed easier that way. If people knew about your growing romance you’d have to deal with the media, the criticism of teammates dating, the fans, and any outside opinions that didn’t matter to you. Neither of you wanted any of that, you just wanted each other. You didn’t intend to keep it a secret for this long but somewhere along the way you became accustomed to it and it just felt easier than breaking the news.
A few of your closest friends, as well as each of your families, knew but that was it. It felt like it was only fair to tell Alexia since she had been the one to confirm Mapi’s feelings. Other than her, Patri and Pina were the only other ones on the team to know about your relationship. Before you had gotten better at sneaking around, they had walked in on you mid-makeout session on the middle of your couch. You had forgotten they were even coming over when you and Mapi had gotten a bit distracted. It’s safe to say, after that happened the pair of you were much more careful. Even though it wasn’t part of the plan, it was helpful having the three of them clued in. The group of five spent a fair amount of time together so not having to hide around them gave you a chance to relax.
Typically, you and Mapi were good at sneaking around. Because of how close you had been prior to dating, nobody questioned most of the things you did. As long as you weren’t outwardly kissing or saying anything too cheesy, nobody thought much of it. The only time things became harder was when you were traveling as a team. When you traveled, unless you got roomed together, there was no solace of coming back together when training was over and getting to spend time with just the two of you. It was almost harder when you were around each other so much yet never in the way you wanted.
~
You had been stuck on the bus far longer than you would've liked. Sometimes you were excited to join the other younger players, playing games and turning the bus ride into a social event. Today wasn't one of those days.  You weren’t sure where it was you were even going to be playing, you just knew you were exhausted and cranky. You took a seat by yourself in the front, not really interacting with anyone. Mapi was with the much louder group having fun in the back. She could tell you were tired and wanted to give you some space to sleep. She also knew you enough to know that if you were in a bad mood you were going to be clingy and she didn’t want to accidentally let everyone in on your secret. When there was a lull in conversation, Lucy questioned your girlfriend, giving her a suggestive look, “Mapi, where’s your partner in crime? We don’t usually see you two apart.” It was clear Lucy was teasing but also was genuinely curious as to why you weren’t hanging out with them.
“She’s just taking a nap, probably trying to get away from you, idiota,” Mapi rolled her eyes, trying to cover up that she too was a bit concerned about you. It was unusual for you to isolate yourself. She sent you a quick text to check in with you but when she got no response, she decided she needed to come check on you herself.
When the defender stood up, she knew more quips were coming her way. “Ooooh Mapi? Gotta go check on your girlfriend?” The way Mariona sing-songed this made it clear she was joking but Mapi still couldn’t help but panic. She awkwardly laughed and turned away from the other girls, hoping to hide her blush. Patri and Pina shared a quick look as they knew the comment from Mariona would leave their friend panicking. They did everything they could to hold in their giggling while Alexia glared at them, hoping to make them stop. Nobody else seemed to notice this as they went back to their karaoke and left Mapi alone to join you.
You felt someone sit in the seat next to you, immediately recognizing the scent as your girlfriend. Your eyes were shut, trying to sleep, but failing. The side of her leg pressed up against yours and she gently placed her hand on your knee. It was clear to her that you weren’t asleep because of how much you were moving around, trying to get comfortable. “Hey,” she spoke gently, rubbing her thumb against your knee to get your attention. You slowly opened your eyes and Mapi greeted you with a soft smile. “You okay? You don’t seem like yourself.” she spoke softly, voice full of worry.
You nodded, “yeah, just tired. I didn’t sleep very well last night so I was hoping to sleep on the bus.” You rubbed at your eyes, starting to accept that it wasn’t going to happen.
“Here I’ll stay with you,” you couldn’t help but be grateful at the offer.
Still, you tried to protest, “Maps, no. Go have fun with your friends, I know you like to keep busy on the bus. I’ll be okay.”
The look on your girlfriend’s face made it clear she’d be staying by your side, “Hmm no thanks. We’ll put some headphones on, you can snuggle up against me, it’ll be great. It’ll put you to sleep in no time,” the way she spoke made it clear it was a statement, not a question. It’s not like you would complain, it did sound pretty great. She took your silence as agreement and pulled out her headphones, passing one to you. By the time you had put it in, she had put on a playlist that the two of you had made together. Her arm wrapped around you so you could place your head on her shoulder and use her as a pillow. You couldn’t believe how quickly you fell asleep. Mapi had that effect on you, always putting you at ease.
At some point, your girlfriend had also drifted off. You woke up, still snuggled into her, with her head resting on top of yours, her one arm still around you, and her free hand interlocking yours. This was by far the most comfortable you’d ever been on the bus. You carefully grabbed your phone so as to not wake up Mapi. You had some texts in your group chat with you, Mapi, Alexia, Patri, and Pina. First was a picture from Patri taken from the back of the bus where you could see the tops of your heads lying against each other, you shared earphones hanging between you. It was followed by a text from Pina, “better be careful if you want everyone to keep thinking you’re ‘just friends’ ;) “. You smiled to yourself, knowing she was right, but being too happy right now to care. All you could do was close your eyes and drift back to sleep.
When you eventually got to your hotel and got off the bus, the two of you seemed to be the hot topic of discussion. Everyone was teasing you, first for Mapi giving up her precious social time for you, then for how closely the two of you had cuddled up, and finally for the way your hands remained interlocked as Mapi led you off the bus and into the hotel lobby.
The only downside to Alexia knowing about your relationship was that she knew better than to let you two be roommates on trips like this. You were paired up with Bruna which you really couldn’t complain about, and Mapi got paired with Mariona. With neither of your roommates knowing about your relationship, finding time alone together was about to get much more difficult.
~
At breakfast the next morning, you went to sit down next to your girlfriend. She stood up to greet you with a hug and a soft kiss on the top of your head. It was likely a bit too long of a hug to be considered friendly but somehow no one commented. Alexia just shook her head, smirking to herself at how obvious you were being. Sitting down at their table, you tried to leave space between you while you ate so as to not raise suspicion, but you should’ve known that it wouldn’t work. Mapi always had to have a hand on you in some way. It was usually subtle, but it sure didn’t make hiding things any easier. You appreciated it though. You liked how she could be talking to anyone and you still knew she was thinking of you. That’s what was happening now as she settled into conversation with Alexia. The silent communication between your touches was better than any words could express.
Your next chance you got to be together wasn’t until after training, back at the hotel. Patri and Pina invited you both to come hang out in their room with them. That’s how you found yourself, laying against Mapi’s chest while she and Patri played FIFA. Her arms wrapped around you tightly while she held her controller in front of you. “Ay, (y/n), did you only come over so you could have time to be all cuddly without the rest of the team around?” Pina quipped at you while you both continued to watch the game, she was somehow both joking and also entirely serious.
Before you could respond, your girlfriend spoke up for you, “hey just be happy this is all we’re doing. We could be making out right now if we wanted to.” She somehow managed to hold you tightly while still playing a close game with Patri. You giggled at how she kept moving under you the more involved in the game she got. “Amor sit still! You’re blocking the screen!” Mapi whined at you, only making you giggle more at how quickly her tone changed. You ended up moving further down to cuddle into her leg so that she could still see. She shot you a glance to make sure you knew she wasn’t actually annoyed with you but relaxed when she saw your soft smile. “Comfortable?” she chuckled lightly at how you burrowed into the side of her leg.
“Did you really have to ask, amor?” you smiled at her before turning back to watch the game she was playing.
All of the sudden you heard the sound of the door opening, making you jump. However when you saw Alexia’s blonde hair round the corner, you quickly relaxed again. “Ooh the lovebirds are here, are you guys just here so you can makeout?” She shot you a smile knowing that you two would always spare them from seeing you be too handsy.
You rolled your eyes playfully at your captain, “you guys always say that but we’ve really only made out in front of you once and it wasn’t even on purpose. And you weren’t even there, Ale!” You sat up a little more so you could see her face.
“Gracias a Dios!” the blonde shot back at you, mirroring your smile.
Deciding to have some fun with this while also taking advantage of this limited time to show affection, you decided to try something. “You know, Ale, if you wanted us to be like that, all you had to do was ask. We sure can…” As you said this, you moved back up in Mapi’s lap and started to slowly leave kisses along the side of her neck. You didn’t want to distract her too much from her game but you also knew how much she’d be enjoying it. Plus you loved a chance to annoy your friends. This time, it was Alexia who started the retching noises. You felt your girlfriend tilt her head to the side to give you more room to continue down her throat, clearly having fun with this. Pina quickly joined in the sound effects when she saw that you weren’t planning on stopping. Finally Patri wanted to know what was going on and took a quick look over at you. Of course she had no choice but to join her friends in their shouting.
What you hadn’t planned on was that the whole scene had distracted Patri just enough to allow your girlfriend the opening she needed to win their game. “Yes!! I won!” You broke apart from her throat as she suddenly shouted. The two of you high fived and shared a real kiss in celebration of your unplanned teamwork. Everyone else in the room just groaned at the two of you, Patri flopping back onto her bed, cursing in Spanish in protest of her loss. You just settled back into Mapi, sharing a couple more short pecks as you did so.
~
The next day was your match. When you did your morning walk as a team, nobody seemed to notice the way you and Mapi had linked pinky fingers as you went. You wanted to be close and to spend it with her but you knew that holding hands on your team walk would be too much. The pinkies worked perfectly because nobody else could see it past the long sleeves of your jackets.
The match didn’t go as easily as everyone hoped it would. The score was tied 1-1. Barcelona had been winning most of the game but around minute 75, the other team equalized and both teams had been fighting hard for a winning goal ever since. Exhausted was an understatement. You and Mapi were both starters and were in the entire game. All that was on your mind was scoring. You had to. It was 2 minutes into injury time when Aitana made eye contact with you. She was running the ball up the field and you could tell exactly what her plan was as she did so. She slotted the ball through three defenders and directly to your feet. With one touch you sent the ball sailing past the keeper and into the back of the net. The crowd erupted and before you even had time to process, Mapi had run straight to you, beating everyone else as they all headed your way. Immediately Mapi scooped you into her arms, picking you up as she hugged you in celebration. You knew your other teammates had also surrounded you, but to you, it felt like just you and your girlfriend, alone in the middle of the pitch. She continued to hold you up, kissing your cheeks repeatedly. Your other teammates almost got bored of trying to celebrate you because of how much Mapi was keeping you to herself as the game wrapped up. You all made your way around the pitch to thank the fans, while your girl kept you at arms reach, overwhelmed with pride for you.
The two of you were the last ones to enter the changing room, walking hand in hand pulled into her side. Lucy noticed this immediately and couldn’t help but comment, “Jesus, Mapi are you ever gonna share her with us?” You could already see your girlfriend starting to blush as you made eye contact. “Do we get to celebrate with her at all tonight or is she all yours?” The rest of the room laughed and added their own comments but you and Mapi were lost in each other’s stare, having a silent conversation among yourselves.
You gave her hand a tight squeeze, encouraging her to do what you knew you were both thinking. “Alright you caught us,” the defendender sighed, “we’ve been dating for almost eight months now.” You held up your joined hands as if it were proof to show everyone (not that anyone needed it at this point). The room immediately interrupted into cheers. Of course it did, everyone knew how perfect you were for each other. If you had been best friends almost your entire lives, of course you’d make a great couple too. You and Mapi just smiled at each other, giving her hand another squeeze, trying to communicate that this was the right move. You didn’t even notice everyone around you until you were tackled into a group hug with you two at the center of it. It was exactly where you wanted to be- holding onto your girlfriend tight while all your best friends piled in around you, celebrating your love. It was everything you could ever imagine. Mapi was everything you could ever imagine.

Stares of Admiration
(That awkward smile Pt.2)
Alexia Putellas x reader
Catch part one here
You and Alexia decide to take things slow and see where your relationship ends up going.
Lots of fluff. Wasn’t gonna continue this but got some recs so here ya are. Next one will be an injury fic in this same universe. Had to finish it on my phone so I’m hoping the formatting isn’t fucked up.

Whatever you had going with Alexia was going well so far. You hadn’t made it anything official yet, both somewhat scared to put labels on things, but you were definitely enjoying her newfound presence in your life. There had been a few dates, both of you being extremely intentional about taking things slowly, slower than you ever normally would, but it was going as perfectly as you could’ve ever imagined.
On your second date, Alexia tried to kiss you. To some, it might have seemed weird how slowly you were taking things given that you had dated in the past and obviously already knew each other, but both of you were just too scared to mess it up. You normally would never be the one to make the first move, especially with Alexia, but her hesitation was killing you. After going out to dinner, she had invited you back to her house for a movie night. You had both been exhausted with how packed your schedules had become between preparing for all the games as well as ongoing media appearances. Alexia knew that a movie night would be the perfect way for the two of you to unwind and finally get to relax together.
It was during the movie that you started becoming more aware of her physical presence against you. You were cuddled into her side with one of her arms wrapped around your shoulders to hold you against her. Neither of you realized how terrible of a movie you had chosen, soon resorting to constant comments and mockery of the dialogue to keep you entertained. The two of you were laughing throughout most of the movie, causing you to get further and further lost in Alexia.
You didn’t realize how much you had missed her laugh until you finally got to hear it again after going so long without it. And her eyes. Her eyes. You could get lost in the sea of gold that was her eyes. Every so often, she seemed to catch you staring at her, causing the corners of her mouth to turn into a slight smirk and pull you closer to her. The blonde couldn’t even tease you for it, knowing she felt exactly the same about you.
It was one of these moments that you really locked eyes, both getting fully lost in each other. Your eyes had fallen onto her lips, looking only at her fading smile and how much you missed kissing her. Suddenly all you could think about were the pair of lips in front of you. You had obviously kissed before when you had dated and now it was all you could think about, never missing her kisses as much as you did right now. When you realized how long you had been looking at her, you glanced back up to her eyes, blushing at the realization that she had caught you staring yet again. You were once again distracted by her lips when she spoke softly to you, your faces no more than a few inches apart. “Amor, I have the feeling that you’re trying not to kiss me and I give you permission to just do it.”
Both of you knew that you weren’t normally the one to make any first moves, allowing her to take the lead, however that confirmation was all you needed to close the gap between you and kiss her softly. Somehow it was better than you remembered and what you remembered was still really good. Her thumb ran along your jaw comfortably, still keeping it soft and slow. It was a simple kiss, but it was still a better reunion than you could’ve hoped. “I’ve missed this, amor. Everything about you.”
The relationship between the two of you had finally started to relax more after that night, not being quite so scared of messing things up. Alexia had become much flirtier with you, keeping things light hearted and fun in exactly the way you needed. Neither of you were willing to clue in your teammates yet. It wasn’t anything official and the last thing you needed was any outside opinions on the two of you getting back together. You had both hurt each other plenty during your break up so you knew some of your friends might have a problem with it, despite how happy you were about it.
You had to be careful about when you spent time together if you wanted to keep things quiet, often finding ways to keep yourself busy in the locker room until everyone else left, knowing your captain would always be the last one to leave. It was times like this that Alexia would let her flirty, arrogant side show.
“Like what you see?” She smirked as you broke from your trance, once again caught staring at her as she made her way back to her locker after showering. Dressed only in a sports bra and sweatpants, towel drying her hair as she made her way past you.
“You know the answer is always gonna be yes to that, Ale. Good to know you’re not lacking any confidence though.” You gave her a smile as you stood up and made your way to meet her at her locker.
Your hands flew to the older woman’s waist to pull her into you, while she shrugged, “a little flirting never hurt anyone.” The gap between you closed for you to kiss her hard while she returned your actions with just as much passion allowing one hand to grab the back of your neck, the other resting softly on your hip.
The kiss held more intensity than any of the others you had shared thus far, allowing it to deepen further in the empty locker room. It was as if all the pent up desire that had been building over the last year was finally being let out. You both seemed to now be able to let go of the fear of the two of you falling apart once again and trust that things could work out if you just allowed yourself to feel.
And boy did you feel. You felt the way her long fingers threaded through your hair as she traced your lip with her tongue. The way her hold on your hip had strengthened, allowing her fingers to dig into the skin and hold you tighter, as if she were trying to make sure she couldn’t lose you again. You parted your lips to allow your tongues to work in tandem, once again reunited by the bond you shared. You hummed into her mouth, finally realizing how much you had missed this before she pulled away, both breathing hard to catch your breath.
The blonde’s eyes darted all over your face, trying to make sure you were okay with what was happening. As much as you seemed to be reciprocating, after you both had stressed how slow you wanted to take things, she needed more reassurance before allowing herself to really get more physical with you. “We don’t have to move this fast if you feel uncomfortable. I just need to know that we’re moving somewhere, it doesn’t have to be this.”
You were silent, slightly taken aback by how careful she was being with you, wanting nothing more than to make you happy and comfortable. Of course you knew she was good to you, but the extra step just took it even further, being sure to make you feel like you were her top priority. You didn’t realize how long your silence had lasted until you saw Alexia take a slight step back, taking your silence as reluctance. “Your eyes are already saying yes, amor, but I just need your mouth to tell me the same if you want me to continue.”
You broke into a small smile upon hearing her words, “Yes, Ale. Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes. I will literally always say yes to that. Why don’t we go home and we can continue there, yes?”
And continue you did. After Alexia drove you both to her house, the two of you spent most of your night taking turns pleasing each other and celebrating being together again. To say you enjoyed it was an understatement. Even though it hadn’t been long, something about your newfound connection made everything about your relationship stronger and better than it had been when you dated before. The way you both had matured as individuals over the last year had made your relationship work so much better in every way, including physical. The work Alexia had been putting in at the gym was evident to say the least, eventually causing you to drift off into a deep sleep in Alexia’s arm.
It was the best you had slept in weeks, fully protected by one of your favorite people, only woken up by the sunlight coming through the sides of her curtains. You turned over as you slowly remembered where you were and how your night had gone. The stiffness in your thighs and the smiling face next to you were all you needed for the feelings of the night before to come flooding back. If there was any doubt in your mind that you still loved Alexia, all that was gone now.
As your eyes began to focus you saw Alexia staring at you with a huge smile on her face, blonde hair in a messy pile all over her pillow. She seemed to have no shame in being caught staring, only smiling wider when you woke up. “Ale, how can you be this happy this early in the morning?” You blushed and brought your hands to cover your face, groaning tiredly, “And quit staring at me like a creep.”
She responded with a soft giggle, leaning forward to leave a sweet kiss on your nose. “You’re so pretty when you first wake up.” She left you another quick kiss, this time on your lips. “Did you know you talk in your sleep, amor?” You groaned again. “No no it was cute I promise!” Her arms reached out to you and pulled you to lay on her chest, realizing how tired you still were and dragging her hand through your hair. “I know we said we were going to take it slow, but I’m ready to make things official between us… but only if you are. If you want to wait, we sure can, I just wanted to let you know- I’m ready when you are.”
You lifted your head up to look her in the eyes, suddenly much more awake than you had been a minute ago. Your lips curled into a smile, surprised by how open she was being about her feelings. Alexia wasn’t exactly the most… emotionally available person. She typically kept her feelings to herself, afraid to let her guard down completely and allow others to see her softer side. But here she was, being completely honest about her feelings for you
“I would love nothing more than for you to be my girlfriend again, Ale. I love you. So, so much. More than I ever did before.”
“Hmmm so are you gonna actually ask me or are you gonna make me do it?” You rolled your eyes at her, both grinning at each other, and the direction the conversation was headed.
“Alexia Putellas, will you be my girlfriend… again?” You both broke into a fit of laughter over the mention of your failed past relationship, only calming down when she started leaving quick little kisses all over your face.
“I would love to be your girlfriend again.” She kissed you for real this time, pulling you in by the back of your neck, moving slowly against your lips. “I won’t be letting you go this time, I promise you that. That’s one mistake I won’t ever be making again.”

"I'm scared"

Part 3 of that awkward smile but also can stand on it's own in my opinion, just kinda in that same universe.
You get injured during the chelsea match and Alexia steps up to comfort you

To say you were stressed about the upcoming Chelsea match would have been an understatement. Champions league matches always held more weight to them so you’d always be the first to put an immense amount of pressure on yourself. You were similar to Alexia in that way, always expecting the absolute best from yourself and willing to push yourself to any length necessary to get there, no matter what it took.
But you were ready. That’s what everyone told you. Barça was incredible and you all knew exactly what you needed to do. You had trained for this and knew how to handle the pressure.
You did all your pre game rituals, even getting a quick kiss on the forehead from Alexia once the others had left the locker room. They still had no idea the two of you had gotten back together and at the moment you wanted to keep it that way, knowing Mapi would be fiercely protective over both of you, scared to see her best friends hurt each other once again.
Before you knew it, you were lined up in the tunnel, ready to take the pitch. Mapi was working her way through everyone, giving plenty of pep talks and words of wisdom asshe did so, being sure to make a long stop in front of you.
You were a center back, working hard to fill her shoes in her absence and trying your absolute best. Everyone knew it was a difficult job but you continued to improve and put in the extra hours to make sure you could make her proud. She was always sure to give you some extra advice and hype you up to make sure you knew that she believed in you. You had known Mapi for most of your life and as much as you’d never admit it, her faith in you worked wonders for your confidence and skills on the field. Especially with you still settling in at Barcelona, knowing that she trusted you in her absence made you step up to the plate in a way you hadn’t been able to before.
As she approached you, Mapi took both your hands in hers, looking at you with a rare sense of seriousness that she often didn’t show. “You’re ready for this, amiga. Just do what you do best, quit thinking about anything else, just go play and be the footballer that you are.” She gave you a short nod which you returned to her before pulling her in for a short hug. Soon afterwards, you were being led onto the pitch for the game to begin.
As the game got started, you settled into a pace that was much faster than most of the games you were used to. There was much more back and forth, more speed, and more physicality than you normally played with, both teams hungry for a win which only heightened the intensity further.
It was around the 60th minute when a Chelsea player sent a long ball down the field in your direction, hoping to reach Mayra Ramirez. You, being the closest to her, took off running towards her the second the ball started your way, pushing yourself to catch up with her and using your speed to your advantage. You were able to reach the ball just as it was about to arrive at its intended target, immediately jumping up in an attempt to head it away before Mayra could take control of it.
However just as your feet left the ground, you felt a mind-numbing crack to your temple, clearly coming into contact with something that wasn’t the ball, before immediately collapsing onto the pitch. What you didn’t realize when you tried to take the header, was how close you were to the opposing player who, like you, was jumping up in hopes of getting control over the ball, leading to her head smashing into the side of yours.
You had little to no awareness of the things going on around you as you layed there, curled in a ball, groaning in pain, wishing you didn’t exist. Pain was shooting through your skull with an intensity that made it hard to even pinpoint its origin. All you knew was that it hurt.
Everything hurt. The sunlight in your eyes hurt, making you keep them squeezed shut as tightly as possible. Squeezing your eyes shut caused pain too, but not quite as bad as if you had opened them. You didn’t even have the energy or mental capacity to fully react to the amount of pain you were feeling at that moment, just bringing your hands up to your face as if they would somehow shield you from the pain you were feeling, exhausted, tears unknowingly running down your face.
Game play stopped almost immediately as you and Mayra had both hit the ground hard, her seeming to be in better shape than you currently were. The second she saw your heads make contact, Alexia felt like her whole world came to a screeching halt. It did. You were her world. You had slowly become ingrained in everything she did as over the last couple months you had been together and now here you were, curled up motionless on the grass.
She didn’t even realize it but the blonde had begun sprinting towards you the second you went down, not even waiting for the whistle or giving it a second thought. It was automatic for her, the need to protect you outweighing everything else.
Normally if a teammate went down, Alexia would be the one to argue with the referee about whatever had happened and allow someone else to go comfort the injured player. It’s not like the captain had a reputation for being warm and fuzzy and good with handling people’s emotions. She’d leave that to the others so she could be the stone faced captain she preferred being. But not with you. You were different.
Alexia was by your side in an instant, suddenly no longer caring who knew about your relationship. Keeping things a secret wasn’t even a thought that crossed her mind as she slid to her knees next to you, instantly grabbing your hand in an attempt to provide you some comfort until the medical staff could reach you. Her hands shook as she brushed some hair off your face and wiped your tears, genuinely terrified of what was going on with you. The blank stare in your eyes, paired with your silence and lack of reaction was eerie to say the least.
“You’ll be okay, amor, I’ve got you. The physios are almost here.” It’s like time was moving in slow motion, feeling like they were taking forever even though they were just as prompt as they always were. Your girlfriend’s words were almost more for herself than they were for you. The way you still were yet to react, didn’t call for words of comfort, however she needed to say it out loud, just to hear it for herself. You would be okay. You had to be. She was thinking so many things at once that she couldn’t fully process it all, just fully in survival mode on your behalf.
When the physios reached your side, Alexia moved over to give them some space, still refusing to let go of your hand as they did so. She didn’t notice, but plenty of teammates had given her some weird looks, confused by her sudden concern over you and the way she was expressing it so openly. The look of fear in her eyes was new to everyone, even those she had known her entire life. Nobody had seen the captain looking so unsure of things when she was on the football pitch, normally that was the place where she came across as the most confident no matter what was going on.
The physios did their job, asking you a million questions and trying to examine you as best they could in your current state. Alexia could hardly pay attention to anything they said, far too caught up in her thoughts about what could be going on with you.
You were hardly answering any of the questions, just mumbling soft responses here and there, struggling to focus on their words. Because of your continued lack of coherency, the medical staff decided to stretcher you off- something that didn’t help Alexia’s mental state, doing her best to hide the tears that were welling up in her own eyes. She was still yet to let go of your hand, squeezing it tightly as if her hold on your hand alone could keep you safe as she helplessly watched the medical staff load you onto the stretcher.
The blonde stayed by your side as the staff wheeled you off, only stopping when they reached the sideline where Mapi had come down from the stands to wait for you to take Alexia’s place by your side. Alexia knew that she wouldn’t be allowed to come off yet. It was the Champion’s League and everyone knew there wasn’t the wiggle room to mess with the subs more than absolutely necessary. As much as it killed her to see you go without her, she knew she didn’t have another option and at the very least, she was grateful to know Mapi would be by your side the whole time.
When they paused at the sidelines with you, Alexia took the opportunity to give your hand a tight squeeze before bringing it to her lips to leave a kiss on the back of it. “You’ll be okay amor, I’ll see you as soon as this is over. I love you, okay?” She didn’t expect a response given your current state but appreciated the weak attempt at returning a squeeze of the hand to her. Mapi froze for a second, giving her a look of confusion over what she had just seen from her best friend before giving the captain a reassuring pat on the shoulder and taking Alexia’s spot by your side.
Everything after that was a blur for you, only knowing that the medical staff were busy performing tests on you, doing what they could to make sure you were okay. You became more and more aware of your surroundings as they did so, feeling the shock of the incident slowly starting to wear off. They decided you wouldn’t need to go to the hospital and that it appeared to be a grade two concussion, paired with the sudden shock of the injury. While you’d still spend longer than you’d like on the sidelines, it was a much better outcome than anyone was expecting given the state you had been in when it happened.
Once the physios had finished their tests, they gave you some medication for the pain and let you doze off on one of the treatment tables, snuggled into Mapi’s side while the game ended. The second the final whistle blew, Alexia was sprinting off the pitch with the sole intention of finding you, ignoring any other responsibilities that might have been awaiting her.
She burst through the door to the training room, expecting to be told that they took you to the hospital, stopping herself only when she saw you sleeping peacefully against Mapi. For the first time since you went down, the blonde was able to take a deep breath and calm down now that she had seen you looking relatively okay.
“Ssshhh, Ale, she’s asleep. But she’s okay. Grade two concussion, and plenty of shock but she’ll be okay, that’s all it is.”
“Gracias a Dios,” Alexia’s shoulders visibility relaxed as she let out a heavy sigh, having assumed the absolute worst for the last half hour.
“What’s going on between you two? Are you back together or something? Cause I really don’t think-”
“Si, Mapi,” The blonde rolled her eyes at Mapi’s reaction, knowing it was exactly what had prevented you from telling her earlier. “I know you’re worried about her but I promise it’s different this time. We’re both in a completely different place now, and we’ve talked about it a lot, and it’s going amazing, Mapi. I promise you. I will not do anything to hurt her.”
“You better not, juro por Dios. I’m so serious, Alexia, if you do anything-”
“I won’t! I swear, Mapi. I could never do that to her again. It kills me that I even did it the first time. This time is completely different, I love her more than I’ve ever loved anyone before.”
The defender only responded with a very pointed look, clearly not too pleased with the current situation. It didn’t help matters that you were still passed out against her, unable to help your girlfriend reassure her that things were going well between you.
Not wanting to discuss it any further, Mapi slid out from underneath you, carefully allowing Alexia to slide into her place. It was clear you knew who it was, snuggling into her further and grabbing the top of her kit tightly to make sure she couldn’t leave. It didn’t matter to you that she was drenched in sweat and smelling rough, you just needed her close to you, even if you weren’t awake enough to consciously decide that.
Alexia took your movement as an opportunity to wake you up, gently rubbing your shoulder, and speaking softly as she did so. “Hola, amor. I think we should get you home so you can keep sleeping there, get you more comfortable. Si? You’ll stay at mine so I can make sure you’re okay.”
You nodded weakly, mumbling a somewhat incoherent agreement. The idea of going home with her sounded great but the idea of moving sounded like the worst thing you could imagine at the moment.
She smiled softly at your reaction, knowing that there were few things you loved more than cuddling and that she knew she would have a hard time getting you to agree to get up right now. “You’re so cute when you’re tired and barely making sense, amor. I’ll carry you if you want.”
She sat up further in an attempt to encourage you to join her, hoping to get a better idea of how you were feeling, but wasn’t expecting to see tears pooling in your eyes as soon as she did so. “Ale, I feel horrible.” Your voice was wobbly as you tried to hold in your emotions, suddenly overcome with pain in your head once again.
“I know sweetheart, I know. I’ve got you though, okay? I’ve just gotta get you home and then I’ll take good care of you and let you rest more. Is that alright?”
You nodded, looking and feeling more broken than you ever had before. “Could I please just hug you, first? Then we can go.”
Your words made her melt, suddenly aware of how much you needed her support right now, allowing you to collapse into her arms. “Shh, I’ve got you. It’ll be okay, I promise. You’ll be alright, mi amor, you’ll be alright.” She rocked you gently in a way that almost seemed to dull the pain you were feeling. This moment in her arms was the best you had felt since you hit the ground, and it did more than you ever could’ve guessed. Something about being in her arms seemed to work better than any prescription ever could.
When you pulled away from her, she gently wiped away your tears, once again pushing your hair back away from your face. “I’ll see if Mapi can grab our stuff and then we’ll meet her at the car okay? Do you want a sweatshirt or anything?” You were both in your kits still and Alexia knew you enough to know that you always ran cold and preferred being snuggled up in a big sweatshirt. Your only response  was a pouty face, sticking your bottom lip out at her with your best puppy dog eyes as she gave you a smile and shake of her head in return. Of course Alexia knew exactly what you were implying with that face. It was your subtle (or not so subtle) way of requesting a sweatshirt of hers instead of your own. “I’ll get you a sweatshirt and let Mapi know that we’re ready to leave. Then I’ll come get you. Okay?” You nodded at her which she acknowledged with a quick peck on the lips before leaving the room, giving you the opportunity to lay down for a few more minutes while you waited.
You must have slightly dozed off by the time Alexia returned to you because you awoke to the sound of the door opening once again. “Feeling any better?”
You squinted slightly, trying to let your head adjust to the lights in the room. “Ale, you were gone for like five minutes, why would I feel any different?” The words carried more attitude than you intended, too far distracted by the pounding in your skull, but your girlfriend seemed to be unphased, just shrugging off your words before helping pull her sweatshirt on over your head.
Once you seemed to be more comfortable, she turned so her back was facing you, bending down slightly so you could climb on, piggy-back style. “Hop on, I’ll carry you to the car, amor.” So you did just that, climbing on and then burying your face into the side of her neck, partially to block out some of the light, partially because you just wanted to be as close as possible.
When you reached her car, she gently set you down on the passenger seat, making sure you were comfortable and buckled before leaving a kiss on the top of your head to go to the driver’s side. As soon as she sat down, she reached to hold your hand, giving it yet another reassuring squeeze. Although the silence between you provided some relief from the pounding in your head, It also sent you into a spiral of anxiety thinking about what this concussion might mean for you.
Alexia quickly noticed your change in demeanor as she drove and how you went from mostly asleep in a comfortable silence to staring into space, clearly filled with tension. The fact that you were suddenly more awake was her biggest red flag given that you had been in and out the entire time she’d seen you. The panicked Alexia that had appeared when you first went down seemed to be back and filled with concern over you once again. “Hey, are you okay? Is something worse with your head, amor? What’s wrong? Do you want me to pull over? I can pull over if you want?”
“I don’t know, I’m just scared I guess.” You gave her a grim shrug that did little to calm her nerves, still looking at you expectantly, trying to figure out how to help.
“Scared of what? You’ll be okay, they said most of your symptoms should be getting better already in a few days.”
“Not about that, Ale.”
“Then what…” the blonde trailed off, clearly confused as to what you were saying.
When she seemed to not be catching on, you let out a sigh, dreading saying the words that had come to mind. “It’s just that last time we dated, injuries are part of what tore us apart. We couldn’t deal with the stress of them. I’m just scared that that might happen again.” You paused, trying to put your thoughts into words, “I can’t lose you again, Alexia. So I don’t know if I should stay with you and I don’t know if we should do this, because I don’t think I can handle that again.” Your voice cracked as you went silent once again, both of you simmering in what was just said. By the time you finished speaking she had pulled into the driveway so she could now turn to face you, cradling the side of your head in her hand. The warmth of her large hand provided you comfort as you leaned into her touch, letting her support your head even more.
“Amor. I know it’s scary, I do. But I never plan on letting you go. Not ever. I promised Mapi that while you were passed out earlier and I’ll promise you that. We talked about this, we were both different people then. We are both more mature, stronger, kinder, smarter, and better. This is not the same.” You finally looked up to meet her eyes for the first time that night. “And I think you know that, amor. I love you, so, so, so, much. It’s okay to be scared, I’ll carry enough faith in us for the two of us. But at the end of the day, I’m not going anywhere. I promise. There’s a reason we got back together, si?”
It was rare that you saw Alexia get so sentimental and emotional but something about you seemed to bring out that side of her. “Gracias, Ale,” she leaned forward to give you a gentle kiss. “I don’t know what I would do without you. Seriously.” She interrupted you with more kisses in an attempt to pull your mind away from your anxieties and back to the present.
When she pulled away, Alexia was relieved by the small smile that had appeared on your face, the first she’d seen since before the game today. “Now let’s go inside, we can take a bath and get you some comfier clothes, and get you all snuggled up to go to bed. I’ll hold you as much as you want, I won’t go anywhere.”
You gave her a small nod, before slowly leaving the car and following her inside, ready for a night with Alexia all to yourself and ready to take care of you. Your head still hurt, but if there was one thing that could make it feel better, you knew it would be your girlfriend and the hardcore pain meds you’d been given.
might end up doing one more for this but we'll see :)

You were just in the process of jamming your feet in a pair of shoes when you heard the doorbell ring. Knowing it was your girlfriend coming to pick you up, you hobbled over to open it, still putting your shoes on. “Buenos días, cariño!” Ona greeted you with the same wide smile you had grown to love, giving you a peck on the lips before entering your apartment.
“Hola, Oni. I’ll be ready in a second. Let me just grab my stuff.” Ona had made plans for the two of you to go hiking together, wanting to try out a new trail that Mapi had told her about.
Hiking wasn’t your favorite thing but you could make an exception if it meant spending time with Ona. You trusted that she knew you well enough not to plan anything too long or you’d get tired of it, along with packing lots of snacks to make sure she could keep you in a good mood.
You reappeared wearing a small backpack, ready for your short adventure, to find Ona sitting on your kitchen counter, waiting patiently. As soon as she saw you, she jumped down to give you another kiss. “All ready to go?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be,.” You playfully rolled her eyes at her, knowing that you couldn’t have that bad of a time when you were with her.
Ona stood up on her toes to meet you, kissing your nose, “you’ll have fun, I promise. Mapi said this was a good trail.”
“Oh so now we’re trusting Mapi to plan our dates?”
“Okay. You got me there. But I do still think you’ll like this one.” You gave her a light chuckle as she pulled you towards the door, eager to get going and start your day together.
The entire care ride there, Ona was excitedly telling you about your upcoming hike and everything that you might be seeing. She held your hand as she drove, constantly stealing looks at you to see if you were as enthusiastic as she was. You noticed her constant glances over at you and you found it amusing. It was sweet how much she cared about you having a good time with her, even if you both knew you always did. You gave her hand a squeeze, giving her a bit of reassurance as she drove. Even if you didn’t love the activity itself, you were excited to have this much uninterrupted time, just the two of you. Plus she had reassured you that it was supposed to be relatively short and easy so you knew you should be able to get through it without too many complaints.
When she parked the car, the dark haired woman looked to you for reassurance once again. “Are you sure you want to do this? We can always do something else if you don’t want to.”
“Oni, I’m all in, okay? This sounds like it’ll be fun, and it’s not all that long anyways, I’ll be good I swear. I won’t even complain that much.” You gave her another kiss, hoping that she’d be settled by the fact that you were fully agreeing to this. It seemed to work as she gave you a quick nod. With that you left the car, ready for your girlfriend to lead the way.
Ona was right that it did seem to be more interesting than some of the hikes you’d done. There was more to look at- more interesting flowers, a view of the water in the distance, it really wasn’t bad. It was a beautiful day so it made for good conversation as you moved alongside your girlfriend. At times you would stop to take a picture of the scenery or look at some bird that you saw off in the distance. It was nice, peaceful.
After about an hour, you reached a small clearing that had a beautiful view of the ocean where you both decided to take a short break. Ona passed you the water bottle she brought for you as you both sat on some rocks, taking in the view.
“So,” she looked over to you, “what do you think of the trail so far?”
“You know, you were right. I like this one a lot better than the last, the scenery is better for sure.”
“Well don’t tell Mapi cause it was her idea and she doesn’t need her ego inflated anymore.” You laughed as she put an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into her so you could rest your head on her shoulder. The Catalan immediately pressed a kiss to the top of your head while you just sat, lost in thought, taking in the peace and quiet.
You appreciated how Ona helped you get out of your comfort zone and expand your world. She could push you to do things you never normally would while still making sure you were comfortable.
As it often did, your girlfriend’s voice broke you from your thoughts, “Should we start to head back so we make it in time for dinner?”
You gave her a nod and she loosened her arm around you, both knowing that you’d be the first to start complaining once you got hungry. Once you stood up, you offered Ona your hand, pulling her up to join you, giving her a quick kiss as soon as she did. Her lips chased yours, not wanting to separate for long. You smiled deeply, loving how she could never get enough of you as she wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you in tight for a longer kiss.
The two of you only separated when you heard another pair of hikers approaching, grinning at each other as you did so. “Shall we?” Ona offered you her hand and began to lead the two of you back in the direction you came from.
You appreciated the peacefulness of the hike back. The sun had lowered slightly in the sky and was casting a new set of shadows across your path, illuminating the scenery in a new way. The new lighting made you take notice of things you hadn’t seen before on your way out- more flowers, more little rodents scampering down the trees next to you. It was beautiful. For a second you were almost enjoying the idea of hiking.
At some point along the way, you noticed that at every split in the path Ona would stop and look around for a while before continuing picking which way to go. It seemed at first  like she was just taking in the view, just as you were doing, but her pauses became longer and longer the further you went. You started to take notice of this but figured she must have a reason. Ona knew what she was doing, she went on hikes somewhat regularly, so she would definitely know the way back better than you would.
When you realized that you had been walking for an hour and a half and still saw nothing but trees ahead of you, concern started to wash over you. “Oni, you know the way back, yes?”
Your girlfriend stopped briefly and gave you a look, eyebrows raised, “Of course I do. I just wanted to take a little different route back so we could see some more of the trail. Is that okay?”
”Of course, it’s beautiful. I’m glad we get to see a bit more of it.” You smiled at her, reassured that the change in route was intentional. Ona didn’t seem to return your smile as she turned back to the trail and continued to lead you forward.
You continued to walk, keeping a close eye on Ona’s face as you did so, trying your best to read her thoughts. Her face would scrunch up in confusion at times as she tried to hide the way she continued to look around, trying to figure out her surroundings. The longer you walked, the more sure you were that you were lost. Your girlfriend didn’t realize how clearly her feelings showed on her face so it was becoming obvious to you how confused she was as she continued to try to find her way back to the car.
After it had been about another half hour, you gave her hand a tug, making her stop to look back at you, a serious look across your face. “Oni, we’re lost.” You were surprised to see her roll her eyes in response, apparently ready to get defensive. Hoping to calm her down some, you lifted her hand in yours to place a soft kiss on the back of it. “It’s okay, just let me help you find our way back.”
“We’re not lost! I can get us back just fine!” she snapped at you before sighing heavily, apparently annoyed at you for questioning her. “I have snacks if you’re hungry or something but you need to trust me. I know what I’m doing!” she dropped your hand and started forward again, not bothering to look back at you.
Even though you knew she was serious, it was so hard to take your girlfriend’s anger seriously. Especially with how she was now stomping down the path, it was like watching an angry toddler. She couldn’t help it, she was just so cute. When she offered you snacks in the middle of being mad at you, it was hard to take her bad mood personally. You smiled softly to yourself while continuing behind her
As you followed her closely, you secretly pulled up the trail map on your phone. Ona made it clear she was frustrated that you questioned her but you just wanted to make sure you made it back before dark.
When you came to another divide in the road, she stopped, eyebrows knit together, trying to decide which way was right. You wanted to stay quiet but when she tried to lead you the exact opposite direction from the car, you had to speak up.
“Love, I think we need to go this way.” You tried your best to speak gently, not wanting to upset her any further. The trail map said that if you took the path you were suggesting, you’d only have a couple more minutes until you reached the car, much closer than either of you realized. Certainly it would be a much quicker way back than the way Ona was trying to currently lead you, directly away from the car. At this point you were just waiting for her to give up her stubbornness and agree that you were right.
You didn’t notice the small smile that had crept onto your face as you both stood in a deadlock, staring at each other, until she finally broke.
“Stop smirking at me, I'm mad at you!” this time you definitely laughed at her as she was one step away from an actual tantrum. “Amorrrrrrrr, stop laughing at me.”
“Oni, you know I love you. And I’m sorry for laughing at you. But if we go this way, we’re literally less than five minutes from the car.” You took her hands in yours, calming her slightly as you spoke. The Catalan’s eyes were on the ground, seemingly ashamed to have gotten you lost on what should’ve been an easy hike. “Why don’t we head back to the car, we can grab some dinner, and then we’ll go back to my place and do the usual.” Ona finally looked up at you, confused by what you meant. “You know, the usual. We eat snacks, sit on the couch, ignore the TV, and make out.”
Your comment got a smile from her, the first one you’d seen in at least an hour. She gave you a shy nod, still not fully past the shame of leading you astray for the last two hours. “Oni, give me a hug.” Your girlfriend didn’t need to be told twice, launching herself into you without a second thought.
She held you tightly, clearly needing the hug more than you realized, before she mumbled into your shoulder, “sorry for getting us lost.” “It’s okay, love. Just don’t tell Mapi cause she’ll never let you hear the end of it.” You gave her a short kiss before grabbing her hand again, this time taking the lead yourself and successfully making your way back to the car.

"Your opinion of me won't change, right?"

You've been hiding your poor family relationships from your girlfriend, sending you into a downward spiral
Wasn't gonna make this two parts but apparent I'm not capable of making anything short enough to not split it up so a second part will be coming. I've got a little road trip this weekend so it'll be a minute before it's done, just wanted to get something out before I left.
Tumblr media
Your relationship with your family had never been great. The four of you were constantly fighting and arguing, usually over things that weren’t all that serious. Your parents were the worst of it, always trying to keep you in their control. Although you had never gotten along well, your relationship worsened when you decided to make your move from the United States to Spain more permanent than you had originally planned.
You first moved to Spain about three years ago. It had been temporary, for your job. You were only supposed to be there for a year. Over the course of that year however, you had no idea how much you would fall in love with everything that Spain offered you. Your company had settled you in Barcelona and you fell in love with the city instantly. The weather was far better than you were used to back home, every meal you had was significantly tastier than anything you could find there. You truly found no negatives to your new life you had started establishing in Barcelona. Best of all, you met your girlfriend, Alexia.
The night you met, she ran into you at a club. You were out partying with some of the new people from work so they could show you the city. When you were at the bar waiting to order another drink, someone basically fell into your side. It had appeared one of her friends had pushed her in your direction in an attempt to force her to talk to you. The blonde woman apologized (and blushed) profusely, insisting on buying your drink for you. From there, the two of you got to talking and never really stopped. You weren’t one for random hookups and didn’t feel comfortable leaving with some stranger in a city that was brand new to you so you gave Alexia your number and told her to text you.
To your surprise, Alexia texted you the next morning, asking if you’d want to get lunch. It was an obvious answer to you as you got ready to meet her at a local cafe she recommended. From that day on, the two of you fell fast. You had clicked instantly. Conversation always flowed easily between you and time flew by. As cliche as it was, it felt like the two of you were meant to be together. Your lunch date led to a series of other dates, often built around the idea of her showing you new spots around the city she loved so much. After about a month of seeing each other casually, Alexia finally asked you to be her girlfriend.
It was important to both of you to keep your relationship private, especially in the early phase of it all. You each valued how easy it was being just the two of you, not having to worry about the media, fans, or in your case- your family. You knew they wouldn’t be happy with you falling in love with a “random girl” in Spain. They wouldn’t be able to understand your love for her or how happy you were here. All they wanted was for you to come home. The further your relationship with Alexia developed, the more the chances of you coming home shrunk.
After about 2 months officially dating, you each told your close family and friends about your relationship. Your parents met her over FaceTime and it went about as well as could be expected. They were (surprisingly) nice to your girlfriend during your call, being polite and going through all the formalities. However, later that night on the phone they expressed their disapproval to you. Your mom told you all about how you didn’t need a relationship distracting you from your job and how it was a waste of time anyways since you’d only be in Barcelona for about nine more months. You didn’t take much of this to heart as this was exactly what you expected from them. To you, you just smiled and nodded and spent as little time on the phone with them as possible. Alexia didn’t know the extent of the conflict within your family. Knowing she was close with her’s, you didn’t want her to judge the way your family treated each other. It wasn’t that big of a deal anyways. She knew the four of you weren’t all that close but you never let her into how bad it really was. Why did your girlfriend need to know that anyways? They were an ocean away, you just needed to get over it. It wasn’t that big of a deal, you just tended to sugar-coat it some when the two of you brought up your families.
Alexia’s family had the exact opposite reaction upon meeting you. You knew your girlfriend’s family was extremely close, especially her and her sister. The pair of you had gone for dinner with them to officially meet and they were absolutely amazing to you. They greeted you with hugs and wanted to know all about you. Your dinner with them could not have gone better. Alexia’s mother had already made you feel like a true member of the family. They made you feel valued and important, something you often missed from your own parents. Sometimes you tended to bond closer with other people’s parents due to the lack of relationship with your own, so you appreciated how welcoming they had been to you. You were incredibly grateful not only to Alexia but to her entire family. During that dinner, you realized just how much you were falling in love with her. You loved everything about her and her life.
About a month later, Alexia introduced you to her teammates. It was hard not to love them too. You could see clearly why they meant so much to your girlfriend and immediately started to form bonds with them as well. At this point you had both already confessed your love for each other and were becoming more and more serious. The more integrated your lives became, the harder it was to imagine going back to the US. You didn’t feel like there was much you were leaving behind there. As the months passed and your relationship continued to flourish, you decided to make your temporary work transfer into something more permanent. In less than a year, you had built more of a life for yourself in Barcelona than you ever had back home. It was impossible to imagine leaving the sunshine, your friends, the beaches, and most importantly, your girlfriend.
You didn’t realize your relationship with your family could get any worse until you told them about your decision to stay in Spain. It was the middle of the afternoon when you called them, intentionally picking a time when Alexia wouldn’t be home. You knew it wouldn’t go over well and you didn’t need her to see the reality of your life back home. It was hard to have prepared yourself for all the yelling and crying that was directed at you through the phone. Your mom told you that you were throwing your life away for “some girl,” while your dad told you about how you clearly couldn’t care about them if you were willing to move away. The insults didn’t seem to end. No matter how much you tried to explain yourself, justify your decision, and communicate the feelings you had for everything (and everyone) in Barcelona, it just continued to worsen.
It didn’t take long to lose your patience with your parents. Your guard was already up so you were on the defensive before you even dialed their number, putting you even further on edge. The more they refused to listen to you, the more your frustration turned to anger. Pretty soon, the three of you were fully yelling back and forth at each other. It wasn’t uncommon in your family to end up arguing and yelling. You didn’t like it but it felt like it was often the only way to get your point across. When they got in these moods, they’d refuse to listen. Sometimes your heightened emotions were the only thing that got through to them. As usual, your yelling turned to hot, angry, tears. You were so frustrated and full of rage. You didn’t even bother wiping them away, knowing more would just continue to fall. None of this was new to you, but it didn’t make it any less frustrating as you continued to hurl insults back and forth through the phone..
The group of you went on like this for over an hour on the phone before you had had enough and finally hung up on them. It had felt like a turning point in your relationship, and not in a good way. It felt like a point where there would be no turning back. As much as you knew you were okay with this, it still made you sad. How could you have ended up like this? Why couldn’t you just have a normal family? One that loves each other?
You were far too distracted to notice your girlfriend come home from training while you were on the phone. When she walked in the door, she heard yelling and was immediately filled with concern. She knew you were planning on talking to your parents today about making your move permanent. You were nervous about it and had worried about it non-stop before she left for training. She didn’t quite understand the extent of your worries but supported you endlessly. The blonde had no idea how deeply this would hit. The volume of your voice both concerned and confused her as she further entered the house.
Following your voice, she ran to your bedroom where she finally spotted you. You were sitting on the floor, leaning up against your bed. Tears were running down your face and covering the front of the sweatshirt you had stolen from her. In the time you had dated, just under a year now, Alexia had never seen you looking anything like this. You were normally extremely smiley and happy. Now you were crumpled on the ground yelling rudely into your phone. It confused her. Normally you were nice to everybody, all the time, no matter what. How could you be saying things like this all of the sudden? And to your parents? As she stood frozen in the bedroom doorway, watching you, she was also overcome with sadness. You looked so broken, so helpless. For once, Alexia had no idea what to do. She had such a wide range of emotions, seeing you like this for the first time ever.
Alexia didn’t notice right away when you had hung up on your parents. As soon as you did so, you broke down fully sobbing. The sound of that was what had made your girlfriend snap out of her thoughts, running to you and immediately pulling you into her arms. It made you jump when she grabbed you, having no idea she had gotten home. You relaxed slightly upon seeing who it was but quickly tensed again, “Ale,” you choked through more sobs. “What are you doing here? How long have you been home?” you continued to gasp for air, more overwhelmed than ever both by your family as well as Alexia seeing how that had gone.
The blonde continued to hold you tightly and stroke a hand down your back, trying to calm you down. “Training finished up early, I got home a few minutes ago,” she tried to explain, however you didn’t seem to be taking in her words. “You’re okay, mi amor. It’s just me, breathe.”
You cut her off by shaking your head rapidly. Fully starting to panic, you pushed your girlfriend off of you and moved away from her slightly. The idea of Alexia seeing you like that, seeing how you and your parents treat each other, filled you with shame. Surely she would break up with you. Family was everything to her, and she just heard you yelling at yours. How could she possibly be okay with that? Somehow, you had managed to panic even worse, not even realizing it. At this point, you were fully struggling to breathe. All you could do was let out strained chokes and sobs, failing to catch your breath. “Mi amor, please let me help you,” Alexia started to plead with you as you still didn’t let her get closer to you. She was getting seriously concerned, not knowing how to calm you down.
The more you struggled to take in air, you started to feel light headed. The rational side of you, deep down, knew Alexia was your only way out of this at this point. You had hit a point where you needed her help. If you didn’t let her help you, you’d most certainly make yourself pass out. Finally, you reached one hand towards her, nodding rapidly, inviting her to help you. Your other hand grasped at your chest, almost pleading with yourself to allow you to breathe again. As soon as you welcomed her, Alexia immediately came close to you, placing your outstretched hand on her chest. “Try to match my breaths, amor,” she spoke calmly yet much quicker than usual, filled with concern for you. “You’re gonna be okay, I’ve got you, just try to breathe with me, you can do it.” The older girl was basically begging with you, not something typical for her. Eventually, when your gasps started to be slightly more productive, she kept her one hand on yours, still pressed to the center of her chest. The other hand pulled you in close, now placing your head against her heart so you could hear it. She rubbed your back slowly, trying to not overstimulate you any further. “That’s right amor, you’re doing so good,” Alexia continued to encourage you as slowly your desperate breathing turned to silent crying.
Eventually you spoke up as you became more aware of the situation. “I never wanted you to see that part of me,” you sobbed into your girlfriend, still entirely filled with shame over what she had just witnessed. It scared you so much. Surely this would make your girlfriend hate you. It should. You were awful to your parents. Granted they were equally awful to you, if not worse. And it had gone like this your entire life, you had no patience left for it. But it was no excuse. You didn’t deserve someone like Alexia. Someone who loved her family. And would surely hate you for how you felt about yours.
Placing both hands on your face, your girlfriend forced you to look at her. “You never have to hide yourself from me. Never. You can talk to me, I promise.” Alexia was almost struggling to hold in her own tears at this point, her voice cracking on the last word. Seeing you like this, so broken, absolutely destroyed her. You just nodded slightly, not believing her words, as tears continued down your face. She pulled you back into her tightly, continuing to provide comfort. You tried to focus on the sound of her heart and the feeling of her hand running through your hair. The longer she held you, the more you were pulled from your thoughts of what had gotten you to this point.
Once your breathing had become more normal, Alexia tentatively pulled back to look at you, “why don’t we go sit on the couch?” she asked softly, hoping that a new spot would further pull you out of the headspace you seemed to be so stuck in. “I’ll get you a glass of water? We can talk about it if you want or we can just throw a movie on?” All you could do was nod, tears still pooling in your eyes. Alexia was so perfect to you. You could never deserve someone like her. Not when your life was such a mess. The blonde stood up slowly, reaching for your hands as she did so. She pulled you into another tight hug once you were both standing before leading you to the couch. Once you were settled there with your favorite blanket, Alexia went to get you some water and a small snack, knowing it was your favorite.
You felt numb as you waited for your girlfriend to return. Your mind was somehow both racing and empty. It was clear you needed to tell Alexia about your conversation, if you could call it that, with your parents. She deserved to know the truth about your family and you knew it was the only way you’d be able to make sense of the thoughts. Talking was your only way out of your head and Alexia admired how well you were able to communicate your feelings. It also helped her to know where your head was at and how she needed to be helping you.
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t even notice your girlfriend returning to you. She sat close to you, leaving it up to you if you wanted to snuggle into her further. After drinking some water, you were much calmer than before, effectively blocking all your feelings from your mind for the time being.
Alexia knew you well enough to know this was not how you coped with stress. Blocking out your feelings would make you spiral even worse and both of you knew it. No matter how much you didn’t want to let her into that side of your life, you knew it was your only option. “Amor, talk to me. You know you can tell me anything,” she offered gently, trying her best not to push you into anything. Even though she hid it well, she was desperate to know what was going on, what could have caused you to lose yourself so quickly. It wasn’t like you. It made her nervous.
Your response broke your girlfriend’s heart even further, “Your opinion of me won’t change, right?” you avoided her eyes, looking terrified of what her answer might be. She could barely even hear you, you were quieter than she’d ever heard you speak before.
“Nothing could change my opinion of you,” she squeezed your hand tightly, trying to make her words sink in. “I love you, remember? I just want to help you” You had nodded slightly, but Alexia knew you weren’t really taking in her sentiment. “Prometo, mi amor. I am here for you. No matter what.”
Taking a deep breath, you tried to find your voice again, but couldn’t do it. It was clear that you needed to explain everything to your girlfriend as she sat in front of you, looking at you with eyes full of hope, full of love. The words you were going to speak would surely make her realize that you did not share the same family values that she thought you did. How were you supposed to just say something when it was obviously going to change how she looked at you forever?

Stressed
Alexia Putellas x reader

Summary: you've been having a rough time at work lately
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
You came home from work absolutely exhausted, yet again. You didn’t know how many days it had been going like this but you were beyond stressed trying to keep up with the demands of your job. Alexia greeted you as you trudged inside, dropping your bag on the floor, and passing her to go straight to flopping down, face first, on the couch. She knew you had been overwhelmed lately and not to take your lack of response personally. You weren’t always great about opening up to people about all your feelings, especially not to Alexia. In your mind, she had more stress going on at her job at the moment and the last thing you wanted to do was add to it. It was probably stupid anyways, and you thought you should probably just get over it. Because of this, your girlfriend knew none of the specifics and just knew that you always came home exhausted and not your typically bubbly self lately.
“Hola, mi amor,” Alexia came over and sat down by where you remained lying motionless on the couch and set her hand on your back as she did so. You remained silent, face still pressed into the cushions, as you tried to keep it together. As stressed out as you were, you really didn’t want to break down in front of Alexia over this. If you let her see how badly you were struggling, she’d worry about you endlessly and she didn’t need that right now. She knew you well enough though to take your lack of response as a bad sign. “Are you okay? Rough day at work?” The concern she had for you was clear in her voice as she lightly rubbed her hand over your back, attempting to calm you down from whatever had gone on at work today. You shook your head silently and shifted so your head was on her lap, still facing away from her. Alexia seemed to understand that you didn’t want to talk, knowing that that was typically the same reaction that she had to stress as well, and silently ran her hand through your hair.
After a while, when she felt like you had relaxed some, she decided on trying to cheer you up. Unlike her, you were typically very social and bubbly, energized by being around people. “Amor, some of the girls were going to go out tonight, did you want to go? It might be a good way to relax, get some energy out, forget about work for a while?”
Unbeknownst to your girlfriend, nothing sounded worse to you than going out tonight. What you’d prefer to do was to lay in a ball cuddling into your girlfriend, cry, maybe yell about how frustrated you were, eat junk food, and go to sleep with Alexia by your side. However for some reason, the idea of letting your girlfriend see you like that was terrifying. After thinking for a minute, you pushed yourself up off her lap, shook your head slightly, and mumbled to her that you were going to bed before heading into your room to do just that.
It was the first you had spoken since coming home tonight and at this point, Alexia was getting extremely worried. This was so unlike you. Even though lately you had clearly been having a tough time with your job, you always were back to your typical self after a while and would go on as if nothing happened. She was getting concerned that something seriously bad was going on at your job and that you were being put at risk. She was still sitting on the couch, dumbfounded, trying to figure out how she could help you. It was also rare for you to deny a night out with her team. You had gotten close with Mapi, both of you having a very similar energy. You’d even told her lately that you’d been missing Mapi and Ingrid and would like to see them soon, making your rejection that much more concerning to her. After a few minutes of her just sitting, continuing to think and worry, she realized she may as well at least try to follow you and provide you whatever relief you let her.
Alexia got up and went into your shared bedroom, expecting to find you still getting ready for bed, or laying in bed reading. Instead, she was surprised to see you fast asleep, curled up into her pillow, wearing one of her old t-shirts. She smiled softly to herself at how sweet you looked, even though your sleeping just made her worry grow. You always went to bed late and you always did some reading before bed, no matter what time it was and how tired you were. She also knew you hadn’t eaten dinner, but opted to let you continue to sleep. It was clear you needed it, and she just didn’t have the heart to wake you when you looked this comfortable. Deciding to try to address it in the morning, she got herself ready for bed and slid into bed next to you. You immediately curled into her side, tightly gripping her t-shirt and pulling her as close as possible. She held you tightly, joining you in drifting off to sleep.
The next morning, the sun shining past your curtains gently woke you. You noticed you were still clinging onto Alexia tightly while she happily held you tightly. It was as if she was trying to protect you from all the stress of the outside world, trying to keep you in your shared little bubble of peace. Your eyes fluttered open just to see Alexia already looking down at you tiredly. She gave you a small smile as she mumbled a sleepy good morning, somehow managing to squeeze you even tighter. You were too tired and too comfortable to be bothered by how clingy you were being with her, as you hummed in response and rolled so you were laying completely on top of her. For the next while, the two of you continued to peacefully lay together while she rubbed your back and whispered sweet nothings in your ear. Somehow, she always knew how to make your problems melt away when you were together. It didn’t know how temporary it was, it made you feel like nothing else mattered.
Eventually Alexia looked down at you and softly moved some hair from your face, gently tucking it behind your ear. “Mi amor, I think we should talk about what’s been going on with you,” she gently whispered, not trying to add to your stress. You just shook your head silently, burrowing further into her. You wanted to stay in this peaceful world with Alexia. Talking about work would ruin your lovely moment here with your girlfriend and that’s the last thing you wanted. She could feel that you had immediately tensed up and didn’t want to push you further at the moment, instead offering to get up and make breakfast instead.
You quietly got ready for the day while she went to the kitchen to start making your favorites. She knew that your favorite breakfast combined with a slow, quiet, morning with her would surely put you in a better mood and leave you ready to face some of your feelings. As usual, she was right. At this point, basically knew you better than you knew yourself.  When she was done making breakfast, the two of you sat quietly on the couch together, watching one of your favorite reality shows. It was a peaceful morning, just enjoying each other’s company while not having to worry about rushing to do anything else. It was exactly what you needed in every way.
Finishing your last bite, you set your plate down on the coffee table with a big sigh. Looking up at you, Alexia knew what was coming.
“Can I vent for a minute?” you finally asked, somewhat hesitantly. Your eyes were down at your lap, still trying to avoid adding to her stress while also wanting to finally let out all of the thoughts that you couldn’t keep to yourself any longer.
“Of course, mi amor,” she grabbed your hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze, getting you to look up at her. “You can always talk to me,” she gave you a nod, encouraging you to continue.
“Everyone expects so much of me but doesn't even seem to care when I give them everything they want. I’m bending over backwards trying to make it all happen and nobody even notices. They only seem to notice when I miss something and it’s all just too much, I can’t do it.” Alexia was looking at you with wide eyes, not expecting how fast you let out all of your frustrations. You took her silence as an opportunity to continue. “I know it’s all dumb and I should be able to handle it but it’s just so frustrating and I don’t know why it’s stressing me out so much. You handle way more than this and you thrive off of it but one inconvenience and I’m having a stupid breakdown.” Now your eyes were starting to fill with tears, frustrated with your job but also with yourself and your ability to handle all of the stress.
Finally she spoke up as you started to really lose it. She pulled you into a tight hug and began rubbing her hand up and down your back, helping you calm down. “Breathe, you’re okay mi amor, I’ve got you. Take a deep breath.” After a few minutes, you began to settle, breathing more steadily, ready to talk again. You pulled away from her slightly to wipe your tears and look up at her, slightly ashamed of your sudden breakdown.
Alexia held your face in her hands as she stared into your eyes. “It’s not dumb, baby. You have every right to be stressed. It sounds like they aren’t appreciating all you do for them and they aren’t treating you very well.” You nodded slightly, trying to really focus on her words. “I think you should try talking to your boss about the responsibility that’s being placed on you, this isn’t healthy, you can’t keep going on like this.”
You nodded more confidently this time, “I know. I know I need to. I probably will on Monday, I just feel bad.” You still hated that you felt like you were letting everyone down even though you knew it wasn’t your fault.
“Don’t feel bad, love. You can’t carry the weight of the world on you. I miss you coming home full of energy and trying to force me to come out with you. You aren’t yourself lately and I just miss you.” This time, Alexia was staring deep into your eyes, making sure you’d take every single one of her words to heart. She meant every word and would’ve done anything to help you see yourself in the way she saw you. Her words seemed to do the job, at least at the moment.
“Thank you, Ale,” you had a little more heart in your voice as you fell into her for another hug, “I love you,” you mumbled into her shirt.
“I love you, mi amor. Now what can we do to make your day better?” Alexia pulled away from you, this time holding you by your shoulders, looking at you with a small smile, ready to do whatever it takes to make you feel better.
You shrugged slightly, “kiss me, hold me, literally anything with you will make me feel better, Ale. Being with you just makes me feel better.” Finally you smiled back at her, the first she had seen your smile in a few days.
Your girlfriend looked back at you, her own smile growing, “Hmm well I think we can arrange for that. How about this- you, me, your favorite hoodie of mine, the couch, and a glass of wine? How’s that sound?” She continued to look at you encouragingly, knowing that this was exactly what you needed.
“That sounds perfect, Ale.” You sunk back into her arms again. You were amazed by how well she knew you and knew exactly what you needed, even when you didn’t know what you needed. It was the perfect day, laying around and being lazy with Alexia. You were so at peace with the world, suddenly your problems seemed to have disappeared and you were back to your typical self, ready to face your boss and any other issues that came up at work. Life seemed much easier when you were reminded that this was what you got to come home to.

Embarrassing
Alexia Putellas x Reader
Masterlist
Summary: You and Alexia take advantage of the opportunity to be typical embarrassing moms.
Inspired by this video:
You were sitting watching your twelve year old son’s football game, when a shadow came over you, blocking the sun you had been happily enjoying. It was a beautiful day and you had gladly taken the opportunity to watch your son play while simultaneously working on your tan. You looked up only to see your wife who had made it just in time for the second half, greeting you with a smile.
“Hola, Bebita,” Alexia greeted you as she sat down beside you with a quick kiss on your cheek.
“You made it! I wasn’t sure if you would. Diego will be excited you got to see the whole second half.” Your son knew how busy Alexia was and understood that she couldn’t always be at everything, so the fact that she had made it to this would mean the world to him, even if his preteen self wasn’t always great at showing it. As you watched the second half start, you filled her in on how the game had been going. Diego had been playing well and his team was winning three goals to one. He had had one goal and one assist thus far, and would likely have even more, now motivated by seeing his other mom there. He always admired her. They had been playing football together since he was first able to stand up on his own. You knew how much it meant to him when she was there and could help him analyze his game afterwards. Being twelve, he wasn’t the best at showing his appreciation for his moms lately, but you knew it was there.
You leaned your head on her shoulder as she grabbed onto your hand, peacefully watching the rest of the game unfold. She loved moments like this, taking in the perfect little life the two of you had built together. Nothing made her happier than getting to sit with the woman she loved most, watching your son play the sport she loved most. Everything about it was perfect.
When the game wrapped up, all the parents started to gather nearby the bench, waiting for their kids to be done and ready to go home. As predicted, Diego scored again in the second half, further solidifying his team’s win. Alexia was excited to have been there to watch your son score and you knew he felt equally excited about it. You continued to make small talk with some of the other parents, when Diego and some of his friends made their way over to the group of you, bouncing around full of energy in spite of having played a full 90.
Diego made his way to you and Alexia, greeting you both with a side hug, “mom, I thought you were gonna be stuck at work today and couldn’t come?” he asked Alexia softly, curious as to how she had made it here.
“Me too, but I ended up convincing them to let me finish up another time so I could catch the second half. I knew you were excited about this one, so I wanted to make sure I could catch at least part of it.” You smiled as you watched your son looking up at her with a small smile as he realized how important this had been to her. You knew he was likely trying to contain his affection as he was still in front of his friends and wanted to continue his ‘cool guy’ persona like most twelve year olds would.
His friends broke him out of his little moment with Alexia as they gave him a small nudge, encouraging him to ask what they were all hoping for. Diego, taking one for the team, started to ask the group of parents if they could all have some money to walk to the nearby ice cream shop to celebrate their win. One of the other moms, whom you and Alexia had become friends with, offered to drive some of them if any of the parents didn’t want to deal with the hassle of having ice cream with a group of rowdy preteen boys. Diego looked up sheepishly as he started to explain that they meant they would go on their own, without the parents.
This time one of the dads chimed in, starting to tease the kids, “Oh I get it, we’re not cool enough to come have ice cream with you guys.” You noticed a few of the boys roll their eyes or let out a heavy sigh, knowing exactly where this was headed with all the parents starting to poke fun at them. Diego gave you and Alexia a serious look as if to say, ‘don’t even think about it’.
The first mom decided to keep up the teasing, “Are you too afraid that your parents will embarrass you if you get seen out with us now?” At this point all the parents were starting to chuckle and chime in with their own quips while your kids all wished they could disappear from their parents’ jokes.
“Hey I’m cool, I know all the latest teen things like- that game was so slay of you guys, dude,” the son of the dad who said this one immediately turned bright red, cowering with embarrassment, as more parents continued on.
You smirked looking at Alexia, knowing that she was likely coming up with something in her head. She couldn’t let this opportunity to tease your guys’ son go to waste. Diego seemed to notice your shared look with her as he started to shake his head slightly, almost as if to will her to stop whatever she was thinking. You all knew this would do him no good, as you both loved taking advantage of any moment to be typical embarrassing moms.
Finally she spoke up, contributing to the conversation, “Hey, if I’m so uncool, could I do this?” and then she started doing the one thing your son never expected to see her do- the griddy. You clasped your hand over your mouth trying to muffle your laughs as you watched your son blush harder than you knew possible. When Alexia was done you just put your arm around her shoulders as the two of you attempted to stop your giggles.
Luckily for your kids, that seemed to be the end of the teasing because no other parents were able to top that one. You all gave your kids some ice cream money, instructing them to call if they needed a ride home, and parted ways to head to your cars. You and Diego had carpooled with one of his friends as you knew Alexia was hoping to make it to the game so you could ride home with her. The two of you walked hand in hand to her car, both still smiling over your afternoon together.
Once you were settled in the car, you smiled over at her as she placed her hand on your leg. “You know, we’re lucky he didn’t just shrink up and disappear right on the spot for that dancing you did back there,” you smiled at her, showing just how much her little dance had entertained you.
“He could use it,” she responded, smiling back at you, “we can’t have him getting too cocky after all those goals.” You just laughed some more as she gave your leg an endearing squeeze. The two of you drove home in a peaceful silence, more content than ever over the lives you shared.

It always gets ugly

Very much didn’t expect to get this done so soon but wanted to get it out before I go back to school on Monday. Written on my phone during a road trip so might be a little rough. Hope you like the ending though, I finally managed to keep something a more reasonable length.
Very much appreciate any feedback and requests but no promises they get done.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t possibly continue hiding your home life from your girlfriend. Here she was, holding your hands, basically begging you to open up to her. “Baby talk to me. Please,” you looked into Alexia’s eyes as she pleaded with you. You took a deep breath, internally preparing yourself for the conversation ahead of you.
“Ale, my family’s not like yours. Not at all,” her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but remained silent. “My family rarely gets along and when we do it doesn’t last. We don’t lean on each other when things get rough, we tear each other apart, and we judge each other, and yell, and it’s not pretty, Alexia.”
The Catalan woman nodded slowly, trying her best to understand your words. A look of confusion was still plastered across her face, “but…. that was your mother,” she spoke slowly, trying her best to understand. “Why were you so…” your girlfriend paused, searching for the word she wanted, “upset?”
You sighed as tears welled up in your eyes. To you, her questioning was coming across as judgement. Of course she would. Alexia would never treat her mom the way she just saw you on the phone. You wanted to explain yourself away but you doubted she’d be able to understand. “I just don’t have the patience for it anymore,” your voice was almost a whisper as if it’d quiet the guilt you felt. “They’ve treated me so badly for my entire life, I don’t have the energy to just sit and take it anymore. They want to manipulate me, and control my entire life and when I don’t let them they get really mean. I get to a point where I have to defend myself, even if it gets ugly.” You paused for a minute, thinking. “It always gets ugly,” you voice cracked as you decided you needed to stop talking before you started to break down again.
“What did they say on the phone?” Your girlfriends usual straight face was still full of confusion. Trying not to push you too hard but still trying to understand.
You squeezed your eyes shut, hoping you could’ve kept her in the dark about your parents’ disapproval of your relationship. “Well I told them how I’m staying here,” you took a deep breath. “They didn’t think that was a good idea. They said I was prioritizing you over them.” You trailed off, hoping their words wouldn’t cut into your girlfriend as deeply as they had you.
You finally looked up, trying to read Alexia’s reaction. You felt how she squeezed your hand in reassurance. Her face didn’t look angry. It looked… neutral? Calm. Maybe sad? “Amor, why didn’t you ever tell me? I never knew it was that bad,” her voice was calm, always comforting you as she reached up to push a piece of your hair behind your ear. Her hand then settled on the side of your face, stroking your cheek with her thumb when you leaned into it. It was then that you realized she wasn’t mad at you. Her heart broke knowing how hurt you had been by the people who were supposed to love you most.
Because of your girlfriend’s constant comfort, you were more willing to talk, “Ale how could I? Your family is perfect. You love each other and support each other. How could I show you how mine really is?” You watched her face as the realization of your words sunk in. It was now that she understood why you were always more than willing to go see her mom or sister with her but hesitant to call your own. “I didn’t ever want you to see the way mine treats each other when yours would never imagine acting that way.” The blonde looked at you with her eyes full of sympathy, finally understanding much more about you.
Her hand continued along your face as she responded, “baby, you didn’t need to hide that from me, it’s not your fault that they-“
“Ale, it’s not just that,” you cut her off, feeling the need to explain yourself further. You sighed heavily as she waited for you to continue. “I also wanted to protect you from them. They’re not all that supportive of our relationship, or anything I do in Spain, really. I didn’t want you to have to see that from them.”
Alexia pulled you into a hug against her side, “you don’t need to protect me. I can handle it. It doesn’t matter to me what they say about me, all that matters to me is you. If they’re hurting you, I want to be there to help you. I want to support you in the ways they don’t.” The captain spoke with so much conviction, it was clear how serious she was about her words.
You held onto her, reciprocating the hug, finally starting to believe her. “I think sometimes that’s why I like spending time with your family so much- it feels like I finally get to experience a normal family. Mine’s just… a lot.” You trailed off slightly as she rubbed your back, still holding you.
“Amor, my family will always welcome you. Mami loves you probably more than she does Alba,” she laughed as she pulled you away so she could see your face. You cracked a small smile at your girlfriend’s rare attempt at a joke. “I want to know you. All of you. Even the parts you don’t like.”
“Well I don’t even know where to start, Ale. We’re kinda a mess,” you chucked lightly, trying to lighten up the situation further now that you had calmed down.
“You don't have to tell me everything all at once, all right now. I just want you to be open with me about it all, okay? Alexia looked at you with love in her eyes. Her face was pleading with you, willing you to say yes.
You responded with a nod, pulling her into you again. “Gracias, Ale. Te amo. Te amo mucho. No sabes cuanto te aprecio.” You almost had to hold back tears once again, but this time tears of happiness. Happiness from the life you had built in Barcelona, with Alexia by your side. She was all you needed. You knew that with her, you’d be able to face anyone, even your own family.
Your girlfriend squeezed you tighter than either of you knew she was capable of. She was in awe of you, especially after the way you’d just responded in Spanish, knowing how much you’d been practicing. She was in awe of you and your strength to handle the people who had hurt you the most in your life. In awe of how you had faced it alone most of your life and in awe of how you now were willing to let her in.
Neither of you could speak as you were so lost in thoughts of admiration for each other and the bond you held together. All you could do was silently remain securely in each other’s arms, unable to put your love for each other into words

"I'm fine."
Ona Batlle x Reader
You're overworking yourself more than you should be and Ona's worried about you. But you're fine !

Masterlist
You yawned as you checked what time it was, sipping from your coffee as you did so. The clock blinked back at you, reading 5:00 am. Papers were strewn across the kitchen table as you regained your focus on your laptop in front of you, trying to finish all the work you could before your girlfriend was up and you both had to get ready to go to work. It was your fourth day in a row of this routine, up for hours getting caught up on your school work before going to work with Ona.
You had recently been given a job working with the physios for Barcelona while you wrapped up your schooling. It was an incredible opportunity, something you couldn’t say no to, however it had piled on a significant amount of work. At the moment, your job was doing administrative duties for the physios, data tracking and record keeping to make sure it all ran smoothly. It was important for you to prove yourself so that once you finished school you could get offered a real physio job working with the players. But for now, you had your little office that you spent plenty of long hours in and that was all you needed, you just had to stay focused on your school work at the same time.
“Are you seriously up this early again?” You looked over your shoulder just to see Ona trudging towards you, still half asleep. Her hair was a tangled mess, voice rough with sleep as she made her way behind you, draping her arms over your shoulders lazily and pressing her face into your neck.
“Oni I have to get all this work done you know that,” You kissed her cheek lightly, “I didn’t wake you up, did I?” Your free hand came up to rest on top of hers as she still stayed, hugging you from behind while you went back to your work.
She shook her head in the crook of your neck, “how long have you been up? You need sleep, mi cielo.”
You let out a soft sigh, pausing your work momentarily, “I’m fine, I promise. I just need to stay caught up with everything. If you want, there’s some coffee on the counter but it might be cold now.”
The brunette pressed a kiss to your cheek before standing to get the coffee you made. “Don’t think I didn’t notice how you avoided my question. And the way this coffee is ice cold has me thinking I really won’t like the answer.” She gave you a pointed look, a small smirk adorning her face, while you just rolled your eyes. “Will you at least tell me how many cups of coffee you’ve had so far?”
“This is number three.” She wasn’t sure she heard you correctly due to how softly you spoke.
“Did you just say three?” you nodded. “It’s barely even 5:00 and you’ve had three cups of coffee. You’re obviously tired. Let’s go lie down, you’ve still got plenty of time before we have to leave. I’ll hold you, come on.” Your girlfriend stood up, immediately offering her hand, looking at you expectantly for you to join her in an extra hour of sleep. You cringed slightly, not getting up from your spot at the table but knowing she wasn’t going to like your answer.
“Ona you know I can’t do that. I can’t get behind on this school work. If you want to go back to sleep though, I’ll bring my computer and come sit with you?”
“That’s alright,” she shook her head and settled back into the chair next to you, slightly defeated that she couldn’t convince you, “I’ll stay out here with you, keep you company.”
“Thanks, love. Your company does make it slightly less miserable.”
“Well I’m certainly glad I don’t make it more miserable.” You giggled softly, sharing a soft kiss before she rested her head on your shoulder, watching you do your school work while she settled into your side.
You knew you were exhausted and that Ona was right, but at the moment it was just the price you had to pay. There was only about a month left until you finished school, then your workload would be cut in half. The problem at the moment was the combination of school plus your new job that was killing you. You had to keep up with both, horribly desperate to prove yourself in every possible way. So if it meant being a little short on sleep, you could handle it. By getting up early and staying up late, doing as much as possible when Ona was asleep, it left you more time to spend with Ona during the day. The more you did it, the more your girlfriend seemed to realize just how tired you were becoming, but you just had to push through it for another month and then it would be over.
About an hour later, you were surprised to see that your girlfriend was still awake against your shoulder. You assumed it was boring or uncomfortable for her to be sitting there that long with nothing to do besides watch you do homework and drink cold coffee, but Ona didn’t seem to mind.
She remained snuggled into your side until her alarm went off, signaling that you both needed to get ready to go. As soon as you abandoned your work, you were back to your usual self, making conversation with each other and dancing around to some of your favorite music as you got ready for the day together.
You had a little routine together where you often did each other's hair in the morning. It didn’t matter what it was, it was just a small way of getting to connect with each other and start your day off on a high note. So there you sat, in front of your mirror while Ona threaded her fingers through your hair as you shut your eyes and leaned back into her hands. “You always end up looking like you’re gonna fall asleep when I play with your hair.” she giggled at you.
“Yeah, it's relaxing,” you shrugged, “And you say I always look like I’m gonna fall asleep so it’s really nothing out of the ordinary anyways.”
“Hmm, that’s true, cause you never sleep, mi cielo.” Her hands carefully pulled your hair back into a low bun for you, making sure it was up to your standards before you switched spots to do her braid. Even though it was small, you were extremely grateful for this part of your routine. Feeling her hands move along your scalp always brought you comfort during your least favorite time of day.
.
When you arrived at the training grounds, Ona walked you to your office just as she always did, carrying your bag for you and giving you plenty of kisses before she headed off to the locker room. The second she left your office, you immediately buried yourself in your work. The coffee machine in your office was working overtime trying to keep up with you while you only looked away from your work long enough to brew a new cup. It seemed as though your days of sleepless nights were starting to catch up with you as you continued to work harder to remain focused.
Most days at work, you’d eat lunch with Ona. Either she’d bring her lunch to your office or, more commonly, you’d take your lunch to go eat with her and her teammates. You knew most of them, especially the ones she was closer with, so you liked having the break outside the confines of your office.
But today you couldn’t do that.
If you just spent your lunch working on your school work, you would have time to spend with Ona after you both finished working, which seemed like a much better use of your time. That way it’d be just the two of you, not stuck at work, able to spend some quality time together.
So you did the one thing you almost never did, and shut your office door, signaling to everyone to leave you uninterrupted. Of course when it was fifteen minutes into your lunch breaks and you still hadn’t filled the seat Ona had saved for you at the table with her friends, she picked up her plate and made her way to your office, thinking that’s what you were intending on. You heard her footsteps stop outside your door, and watched as she seemed to just pause there, figuring out what to do. On one hand, she knew that your closed door meant you were busy, but on the other hand, she also knew it was your lunch break.
When she finally made up her mind, she opened your door, ever so slowly, peeking her head through the small crack and finally seeing what had kept you from her- more school work. Upon seeing what you were doing, the brunette further opened your door and entered, settling into the extra chair across from your desk to eat her lunch. “Are you really working through lunch? No offense but you look like you haven’t slept in days, babe. You look like you could pass out at any second, you really need to take a break.”
“Ona, I’m fine. If I finish this now, then I’ll have time to spend with you tonight once we’re done here. Then I’ll take a break. With you.” You gave her a cheesy smile, hoping she’d accept your answer but still knowing she probably wouldn’t.
“As much as I’d like some time with you, it’s not me I’m worried about. You need a break. For you. Look me in the eyes and tell me what time you went to bed last night. Or if you went to bed for that matter.”
Of course she saw right through you and you should’ve expected that. Ona knew you better than you knew yourself sometimes. “I’m okay, I promise. I’m a little tired, sure, but I’ll be fine. I just have to get to graduation and then I’ll have a normal schedule again.”
Your girlfriend was starting to get frustrated by your insistence and refusal to listen. She knew you were running yourself to death and needed nothing more than a break to keep functioning. “(Y/n) you’re not listening. That’s the fifth time in the last two minutes that you’ve yawned, don’t think I don’t notice. When was the last time your head hit a pillow?”
“Ona. I’m fi-”
“If you say you’re fine one more time I might lose my mind.” She took a deep breath, trying to remain calm and not push her frustrations onto you further. The defender quickly stood up, pulling you up from your chair abruptly, “That’s it! We’re getting you out of this stupid office!
You knew there was no point in arguing with her, allowing her to drag you down the hallway into a lounge area when some of her teammates were scattered around the room keeping themselves busy. Some were finishing lunch, some of the younger girls doing school work of their own, others just relaxing together and hanging out. Ona pulled you onto a couch that had some sort of football game playing in front of it, many of the girls half-watching it. She immediately pulled you into her side, forcing you to cuddle up to her- something she wouldn’t normally do when you were both at work, but decided it was necessary at that moment.
“Lay down. I’ll set an alarm to wake you up when your lunch is over, just please, rest.” You gave her a half-hearted glare, partially for pulling you away from your schoolwork but partially because you doubted you’d be able to sleep in a space like this. But once again, Ona saw right through you. “Close your eyes and stop fighting it. I’ll be right here with you, even if you can’t actually sleep, you need a break. And you’re already half asleep so I’m really not too worried about it. I’ve got you, mi cielo.”
You gave her a slight nod before making yourself comfortable with your head on her lap, trying to do as she asked. You knew you were tired but didn’t fully comprehend how bad it was until your body instantly succumbed to your exhaustion. Within minutes, you had passed out on the couch. Ona’s teammates knew not to bother you having heard all of the defender’s concerns about you and your lack of sleep lately. All she got from them were a few knowing glances, happy to see how relieved Ona was at the sight of you sleeping on her.
Your girlfriend fully intended on waking you up at the same time you normally ended your lunch and went back to work, but you were so peaceful on her lap, and she knew how badly you needed the sleep that she had a hard time doing so. She knew she hated lying to you and that you’d likely be pissed off at her, but Ona really, truly felt that she didn’t have a choice- she had to let you sleep. You were running yourself into the ground and this seemed to be the only hope at slowing you down and allowing your body to recuperate.
When it was time for her to go back to her own training, Alexia came over to grab her, stopping in front of the younger woman when she saw the current position she was in, flashing her a sympathetic look. “Oni, you stay with your girl, I’ll cover for you. It’s just a regular gym session so you can make it up another time. Let her sleep.”
She was shocked to hear her captain so willing to allow her to miss a gym session, just to let you keep sleeping, but Alexia knew how worried she had been about you, everyone did. It was all Ona had talked about for the last week- how you were exhausted and overworked and rarely sleeping more than a few hours. And Ona had been playing full 90’s lately so Alexia knew she could also afford the break to let her body recover alongside yours. “Thank you, Ale. Seriously, I owe you.”
“Don’t mention it. You could use the sleep too, so why don’t you both just use the afternoon to catch up. I’ll let the physios know about (y/n). They’ve been pushing more than anyone that she needs a break so they’ll be glad to know she finally has one.”
Ona gave her captain another nod, grateful for the understanding, before getting comfy alongside you so she could also get some shut-eye. Alexia turned down the volume of the TV and lowered the lights before bringing a throw blanket to throw on top of you both, quietly chuckling at Ona as she did so, “Let me just be a mom for a second, tuck you in and tell you sweet dreams.” The blonde placed a quick kiss on both of your foreheads before leaving the two of you alone, knowing just how badly both of you needed it.
It was hours later when you woke up on Ona’s lap, still on a couch at the Barca training facility. As your eyes slowly creeped open, you noticed how quiet the room was, as if there wasn’t a team member within a mile radius of you. You looked around some, a bit confused as to how you ended up in the position you did when you finally thought to check your watch- 5:47 PM.
You jolted up, startling Ona awake as you did so, confused as to how you could’ve slept through your entire afternoon. “Ona, what the hell?! You were supposed to wake me up! How did I just sleep through the entire afternoon, I was supposed to be working!”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay I promise. Ale agreed we should let you sleep, the other physios were totally okay with it, she double checked and everything. It’s okay.” She watched the tension physically leave your body as you let out a sigh, partially relieved to hear that nobody would be mad at you for ignoring your work all afternoon, partially annoyed that your girlfriend forced you into taking a nap. It was hard to be mad at her though when you saw the way she looked at you, her eyes big and filled with concern.“You fell asleep right on my lap. It was cute. You’re adorable when you’re sleeping, you know that?”
You collapsed back into her arms for a hug, appreciative at her insistence to take care of you, even if you didn’t want to do it yourself. “Thank you, Oni. I love you, clearly I needed that.”
She held you close, rocking you gently before separating herself. “And I love you, mi cielo.” She pressed a kiss to the tip of your nose, “why don’t we go home? Snuggle for real, not at work, and then get to bed?” You responded with a slight nod before allowing her to help you up, and go gather your things to drive you both home.
.
On the way home Ona made the executive decision to pick up some takeout so you could really just focus on relaxing together once you got home. When you arrived, you did just that. Your girlfriend wouldn’t let you lift a finger, fully insisting that she had to take care of you so you could wind down and take a break. She led you directly to your room, sitting you on the bed while she changed you from your work clothes and into an old sweatshirt of hers with some comfy shorts. The defender made sure you were fully settled on the couch in a pile of pillows and blankets with your food before she took a shower and got changed to join you.
In the time that she was away, you had dozed off again in the cocoon she had made you in the living room, only waking up when you heard her footsteps. “Sorry, were you sleeping? I didn’t mean to wake you, go back to sleep.” She sat down next to you, stroking your hair soothingly, knowing just how much it put you to sleep when she played with your hair.
“Why don’t we just go to bed instead? You can read or something but it might be easier if I’m just in bed already before I fall asleep again.” Your girlfriend gave you a nod before leading you into your bed, snuggling up next to you.
Once you had settled in bed, you were basically laying on top of her, her hands holding you tightly against her with your head on her chest, listening to her heartbeats. “Goodnight kiss before you fall asleep?” The brunette left a light tap on your back, getting your attention before you leaned up to fulfill her request, happy to oblige.
“Do you wanna hear about the dream I had last night?” Ona asked you quietly, knowing her voice would lull you to sleep if you let her keep talking. You did this anytime either of you struggled to fall asleep- talking softly, mostly nonsense about anything and everything while the other half-listened until eventually falling asleep. You gave her a somewhat excited nod, knowing that her voice was always exactly what you needed.
So there you were, while Ona went on and on about her latest dream and you drifted back into sleep, not processing any of your words. “So then I was going to-” she looked down, noticing how your breaths had slowed, “oh okay you’re already asleep, I’m just talking to myself now, cool.” The brunette breathed out a slight chuckle at the sight of you. “Buenas noches, mi cielo. Sweet dreams.” She pressed a long kiss to your hairline, thankful to finally see you at peace, for the first time in at least a week- completely at rest in your lover’s arms.
hope you enjoyed! always appreciate any feedback and requests :)

“Going soft on us?”
Patri Guijarro x reader
Masterlist
Word count: 1.5k
Summary: a soft peaceful day of you and patri admiring each other during a team bonding day at the pool. Pure fluff
Very open to any feedback or requests! Really just going for this whole writing thing without putting any extra thought into it at this point lol
Tumblr media
On the surface, you and Patri seemed like an unlikely pairing. To those who didn’t know you as a couple, they likely wouldn’t understand how you had been together for so long. You weren’t a footballer; you worked a much more typical job that kept you far from the spotlight, which you preferred. Typically you would enjoy a night in to just relax and decompress, sometimes with a book, sometimes with something else to keep you busy. Patri on the other hand was known to be much more social, loud, and always down for a night out. She spent a significant amount of time with her friends and enjoyed letting loose when the time was right. You both were willing to compromise your preferences at times to spend more time together, in whatever way felt right to you both. Sometimes she’d be willing to miss a night out with Claudia and the team, preferring a night of cuddles and movies with you. Other times, you were more than happy to step out of your comfort zone and have fun with her enjoying her friends. You both were comfortable enough in your relationship to do things separately when you needed to and still know that you would be back sleeping in each other’s arms at the end of the night.
No matter how much others didn’t quite understand how you made it work, you were absolutely perfect for each other. You kept her grounded when she needed it, providing some sense of normalcy in her otherwise hectic life. Patri was a huge blessing in your life, preventing you from getting stuck in the comfort zone of your house, letting life pass you by. The two of you supported each other endlessly and connected on a much deeper level. You complimented each other perfectly in every way. All of your friends could see it clearly. When you were with Patri, the world just felt right. Everything just worked. No matter how far outside of your comfort zone either of you were, if you were together, you were at home and you were happy.
This afternoon the two of you had gone to a team bonding day at the pool. You had become pretty familiar with most of the team, especially the ones she was closest with. Claudia, Mapi, Ingrid, and Alexia had become some of your closest friends as well. You and Ingrid had become especially close, sharing many interests between you.
It was no surprise that you ended up laying on a chair by the pool, book in hand, with Ingrid close by, looking exactly the same. Both of you were having a nice afternoon, catching up on each other’s lives, working on your tans, and relaxing. Equally unsurprisingly, Patri was in the pool, messing around with her friends. This was how days like this often went- both of you together while still doing the things you each preferred. Days like this were part of how you and Ingrid had become such great friends. The two of you could often sit back and relax and watch your girlfriends let out their energy in whatever chaotic way that had chosen that day.
When you go to the end of your current chapter in your book, you decided it was time for a break and set it down next to you. While grabbing a sip of your drink, you looked around, trying to see what your girlfriend was up to. When your eyes found her, you saw her and Lucy trying to wrestle each other underwater. Mapi and Pina were nearby, simultaneously cheering them on and chugging their drinks.
You shook your head and smiled watching them. You loved seeing Patri when she was able to let loose and have fun with her friends. Given the pressure she faced from her job, you knew how important this time was for her. You had no idea how long you’d been staring at her, your heart eyes on full display, until Ona sat down on the other side of you, giving you a playful nudge to your shoulder as she walked past. “Careful there, you might start drooling soon if you keep that up,” she gave you a knowing smile, likely feeling the same watching her own girlfriend playing in the pool with yours.
Ingrid had noticed Ona sit down and also sat up to join your conversation. “Sometimes I wonder how we put up with them,” she said, taking a sip of her drink with a small shake of her head. The three of you all looked back to your girlfriends, pleasantly surprised nobody had gotten hurt at all yet. Ona nodded and agreed, but you still could hardly tear your eyes away from your girl.
“I don’t,” you said, somewhat out of the blue now that you had all been sitting watching for so long. The two other girls looked over at you in confusion, “You said you wonder how we put up with them,” you clarified, going on, “I don’t. I love their energy. At times like this, I love watching her just loving her life. Sometimes I wish I could be more like Patri in that way.” You continued to stare at her with adoration in your eyes, fully ignoring Ingrid and Ona next to you. You knew those two were just as bad as you and therefore wouldn’t start teasing you for how in love you clearly were. It was true, you greatly admired her in almost every way. To you, it was like she had hung the stars, and you were there to happily watch. You didn’t even realize Ingrid and Ona had continued the conversation as you continued to peacefully watch your girlfriend.
Eventually, you noticed that the girls in the pool had just given up on whatever game they were playing, as Patri looked up at you from across the pool, instantly locking eyes. You had been smiling at her already, now caught in your stare, but it quickly became her turn. She gave you a small smile, looking over at how beautiful you looked, laying in the sun. Her soft smile grew into a full on toothy grin as you continued to just gaze at each other in adoration, somehow sharing this small moment across the crowded pool. Your moment only ended when Claudia teasingly pushed her over, catching her off guard, and shoving her quickly under water. You shook your head again, laughing at their antics, and went back to your book, laying back on your chair.
While you were reading, you didn’t notice how often Patri was making the same heart eyes back at you as you had been making earlier. Her friends were constantly making fun of her everytime they caught her, but she didn’t care. She was so enthralled by the way you looked so peaceful yet so perfect. Patri always knew she wasn’t good at just relaxing and she always admired the way you could. You were able to provide yourself exactly the rest you knew you needed, always trying to convince Patri to do the same. She appreciated that about you, and wished she was more like you.
As Lucy went to go refill everyone’s drinks, Patri took advantage of the short break to go check in with you. When she got over to you, you had drifted off to a peaceful sleep. She squeezed onto the side of your chair, laying next to you, and gently placing her head to rest on your shoulder. You stirred slightly as she intertwined your fingers. You gave her hand a light squeeze to let her know you were at least somewhat awake, but remained lying peacefully next to her, just enjoying each other’s presence.
Alexia walked by the two of you, giving Patri a soft smile, “going soft on us Pats?” Patri knew she was teasing but the way she had said it was much softer than when her other friends did. She knew that the comment came from a place of love for the two of you and for what your relationship had become. Alexia had watched your relationship grow from the very beginning and knew how in love you both were. Patri looked up at her with a smile of her own and gave her a small nod, careful not to wake you up. She knew Alexia was right. She had gone soft, but only for you. And she was glad she had, for her life was significantly better with you in it.
Once Alexia had walked away, and the others had dispersed more, she pressed a soft kiss to your shoulder, while whispering into your skin, "I love you, mi amor.” You gave her hand another tight squeeze, your silent way of returning the sentiment, while she slowly joined you in drifting off to a comfortable sleep together.

You were awoken slowly by beams of Barcelona sunlight streaming in past the edges of your curtains. Knowing that both you and Aitana had the day off, you rolled over hoping to fall back asleep. In doing so, you sleepily wrapped your arm around your girlfriend, trying to pull her into your side. As you lazily pulled her in, you could hear her giggle softly at you and you being half asleep. Unbeknownst to you, it was 9:30 which was extremely late for either of you to still be in bed. Typically you’d both be out the door by 7:00 so this was unheard of for you. Aitana knew you needed the sleep so she avoided waking you up no matter how bored she was becoming. While you continued to sleep, she carefully reached over to grab her book so she could lie next to you and read. The woman’s free hand gently ran over your scalp, putting you back to sleep while she read. Even though she could rarely sit still, it was easy when you were with her.
Around ten, you slowly started waking up further. You squinted your eyes as you opened them slightly, caught off guard by the brightness in the room. Aitana was lost in her book, not noticing you slightly starting to wake up. It gave you time to look up at her, admiring her and the way you were cuddled into her side. You noticed she was sitting up while you slept, making you wonder how long you had been sleeping, “what time is it?” your voice was raspy from sleep when your girlfriend finally realized you were awake.
Aitana set her book down next to her, turning her full attention to you, “it’s almost ten, amor.” she gave you a soft smile and gently tucked a stray piece of hair behind your ear, out of your face.
You knew how active she typically was and were suddenly overcome with guilt that she had felt like she needed to sit with you until this late in the morning. “Tana, you didn’t have to stay,” you looked up at her questioningly. “You could’ve gone on your run if you wanted to, I wouldn’t have minded,” you tried your best to communicate to your girlfriend that she didn’t have to be tied down by you. The last thing you wanted was to hold her back or keep her from the things she enjoyed.
“Amor, it’s one day. I’m happy to skip my run for a day if it means getting to lay here with you,” she moved down to be laying next to you and pulled you in close for a tight hug. Her genuineness was clear from the way she held you tight, giving you no choice but to believe her. You knew she liked to be by your side, you just wanted to make sure she still did the things she wanted. “We never have time to just sit like this, it’s nice.”
You pulled back from her slightly, seeing if she was serious. “Aitana Bonmati, are you sick or something?” you placed the back of your hand on her forehead as you giggled, “since when are you willing to lay around in bed?”
Aitana rolled her eyes at you with a small smile on her face. She grabbed your hand from her forehead, kissing your knuckles before placing it back on her waist for you to snuggle back into her. “I like laying around when it’s with you, especially when we’ve both been so busy.”
You hummed in agreement and pulled yourself back into her, still tired from the past week. “I just want to lay here with you all day,” you grumbled into her shoulder, “you’re so comfy.”
“Well… nothing’s stopping you, we’ve got nothing we have to do today.” Your girlfriend's arms wrapped around you, pulling you in close. Her hand rubbed gently down the side of your arm, lulling you back into your sleepy state.
~
Sometime around noon you had woken up for real and the two of you decided it was time to finally get out of bed. You had decided to go on a walk to your favorite cafe together and then see where the day took you. It was the perfect way to spend your day together, never leaving each other’s side.
Walking down the streets of your neighborhood, holding hands with Aitana, taking in the beautiful day- all were some of your all time favorite things to do. It was perfect. When you arrived at the cafe, Aitana found a spot for the two of you to sit while you ordered for the both of you. You easily found your girlfriend after you had ordered your food. She was settled into your favorite table in the corner. It was perfectly private and tucked away but still enough of a view to watch the other patrons of the cafe. She had been sitting on her phone as she waited for you but immediately put it in her bag when she saw you joining her. You took note of the small gesture and how she always wanted to make the most of your time together. The Catalan greeted you with a bright smile, just as she always did. Your smile was one of your favorite things about her, it lit up your heart every time you saw it.
As you sat down with Aitana, she just looked at you for a while, silently, with love in her eyes. You were always catching her looking at you like this, she’d given up on hiding it now. The sound of the waitress bringing your food over seemed to break her from her trance. The two of you started eating in a content silence until your girlfriend spoke up, “how was work yesterday? I know I didn’t see you much because of the match last night.” You loved how she still wanted to check in even though you could never blame her for being busy. “Was that one girl still bothering you? Or did she get fired yet?” she looked at you hopefully with another smile on her face.
You giggled at her in response, shaking your head slightly. She always remembered all your complaints about your job and which of your coworkers was annoying you at the time. There was no reason for her to remember it, it wasn’t significant, but she always did. It no longer surprised you, Aitana was just like that. She was always interested in everything you did, even if it didn’t really affect her. “I don’t think I’d be lucky enough to have her get fired, amor. I just wish she’d back off and let me do my job. I’ve got this new project I’ve been looking into starting, I think it could be really cool,” you started to ramble on about your latest work ideas.
Aitana had no idea what you were talking about. She could always follow at first but the more you continued to spill all your ideas, the more she got lost. To her credit, you were quite scattered, not always making the most sense of all your thoughts. One of her biggest talents was not letting you realize how lost she got when you got into work mode. She continued to listen with admiration, her attention not faltering for a second. To her, it didn’t matter if she understood it. You were excited about it and that’s all she needed to enjoy listening to you. She tried her best, nodding and really working to connect all your random thoughts as you went on. At times she’d cut in with some questions, trying to clear up as much as she could so she could at least get the general idea of it all. It didn’t matter, she loved it no matter how little she understood.
Your lunch continued like this for the most part, Aitana would ask you about something, you’d get sent into a ramble, going on and on about it, while she did her best to follow. You appreciated being able to get your thoughts and ideas off your chest and she just loved listening to you talk about everything you were passionate about. It was perfect for both of you and exactly what each of you needed to help cope with the stress of your lives lately.
As you wrapped up your lunch date, she took your hand in hers and led you out of the cafe. Together, the pair of you ventured on a walk, ending at one of your favorite spots in Barcelona, a small park near your house.  You sat down on a bench and just watched the people walking by. It was perfect. Aitana had wrapped her arm around your shoulders so you could lean your head against her shoulder. The two of you sat in a comfortable silence, just taking in each other’s presence and watching the world around you. You didn’t need ongoing conversation or action to keep the two of you happy. Being with each other was always enough, especially on days like this when you had the rare opportunity to slow down and just be. Aitana loved days like this when she wasn’t “Aitana Bonmati,” she was just yours. That was all she could ever want. She loved being yours.
You tilted your head, still on her shoulder, so you could look at your girlfriend. It was unbelievable to you how you had gotten lucky enough to be able to call her yours. You knew you could always count on her to still prioritize you when she knew you needed it, no matter how big of a footballer she became. The way the sun shined off your girlfriend’s brown eyes was like artwork to you. You were lost in her eyes when she turned to face you, catching you in your staring. All she could do was give you a soft smile, knowing she often did the same to you. “Should we head home,” she spoke softly, “so we are home before it gets too dark?” You just now noticed that the sun was starting to set. You gave her a nod before standing up and offering her your hand to help her up.
Aitana gladly took it and joined you. She didn’t let go of your hand the entire time you walked, swinging slightly as you took in the Barcelona scenery around you. Eventually you noticed how she shivered slightly. The air had cooled down since the sun had set and Aitana was definitely not built for the chilly weather. Wordlessly, you took off your hoodie and passed it to your girlfriend. She pushed your hand away slightly, not wanting to take it from you, “Amor, you keep it, I’m okay,” you knew she was lying, feeling bad that you’d be going without it. “You’ll get cold,” she tried to protest but you could see the shy smile as she spoke.
“Tana, we both know I handle cold much better than you do,” you laughed lightly as you teased her. Her eyes rolled, “just put the sweatshirt on, you’ll be more comfortable.” She had given you a small push as you teased her but still gave you a smile and nod. Briefly, you let go of her hand so she could put it on.
When she was comfortable (and warm) in your slightly-too-big hoodie, she grabbed your hand again, “Gracias, mi amor.” You loved how she often spoke to you as if it were still your first date and she was still shy about speaking to you.
You responded by bringing her hand up to your lips and leaving a soft kiss against her knuckles. “I couldn’t let my girlfriend go cold now could I, Tana?” She laughed softly, pressing a kiss to your cheek. The two of you were mostly silent while you finished your walk home. There was some brief conversation here and there but you mostly just enjoyed your time with each other. Neither of you wanted your day to end.
~
When you got home, you made dinner together, how long you had been out. Aitana had put on some music and the two of you bounced around the kitchen, chatting and dancing while you helped each other cook. As much as she loved her Barca teammates, Aitana loved to tell people that you were her perfect teammate. She liked to think of you as her “life teammate.” It’s not like she was wrong. Anyone who saw the two of you together saw how perfectly you meshed. It was times like this, doing something as simple as cooking together, where you saw how true it was. You were lost in conversation, her filling you in on some of the team’s latest endeavors. Neither of you ever had to break the conversation to talk about what you were doing as far as dinner went, you always just knew. That’s how everything was with Aitana. You both just knew.
The two of you finished dinner, and decided on a movie night before you had to go to bed and prepare for work the next day. It was the perfect way to wrap up your lazy day off together. Eventually, you both ended up ignoring the movie as you got lost in conversation yet again. She was lying stretched out across the couch while you laid on top of her with your head against her chest, happily chatting away. Hearing her heartbeat always put you at ease, always made any stress melt away.
When Aitana was giggling through her latest story, you lifted your head up to look into her eyes, just smiling at your girlfriend before leaning in for a kiss. As you pulled away, the two of you were both smiling wide. She pulled you back to her and gave you another quick peck, giggling again at how you chased her lips, hoping for more. You gave your girlfriend a playful pouty face which she responded to by peppering your entire face in little kisses, until you also started to giggle at her. You buried your face in her neck for a minute while you both laughed at each other.
Once the two of you calmed down, she cupped your face in her hands and finally pulled you in for a real kiss. You sighed into it, pleased to finally get what you wanted. Kissing Aitana was one of your favorite things. Her lips were soft, yet filled with conviction, always managing to express her love to you through her kisses. The two of you lazily made out on the couch while the movie played on in the background. Aitana gently ran her hands down your back, somehow bringing you even more comfort. You slowly pulled away and pushed a piece of hair back from her face.
As usual, your girlfriend was looking at you with admiration. “Thank you for today, Tana.” She looked at you with confusion, unsure of what you meant. “Today was just perfect. It was the perfect day off with you. I love when I get this much time with you, especially when we’re usually so busy.”  You laid your head back on her chest. Her arms squeezed you tight, holding you close.
You could feel the vibrations in her chest as she hummed in agreement, “me too. I think we need to do this more often.” All you did was nod against her, and return the hug she was holding you in. “I love you, amor,” she started to ramble, “I love this and I love you and I can’t wait to do this with you forever.”
With a shy smile, you pulled away from her so you could look at your girlfriend's face. The two of you had talked about your future many times, and both knew you planned on getting married. Something about this time felt different though- the way she mentioned it so casually as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “I love you, mi Tana, always.” She smiled back at you and gently ran a hand through your hair. You placed your head back on her chest as she continued to softly massage your scalp.
The more you snuggled in, listening to your girlfriend’s heart, the more you were lulled to sleep, thinking of your perfect future with Aitana. It took awhile for Aitana to notice that you had fallen asleep on her. She was so lost in her own daydreams, thinking about your future wedding, your future family, she hadn’t even noticed how you had settled into her. Neither of you could imagine a life better than this. It was what you had both dreamed of. All she could do was snuggle in further and allow herself to drift to sleep, holding you tightly, both with soft smiles settling on your faces. You couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day together, just basking in each other’s presence.
