The movie had long since finished, and Leah was curled in your shared bed, softly nestled within the safe sheets.

You’ll have to be quick. Leah is right. There are monsters in the valley, and something was trying to break in. but you’d never tell her that. You’d rather take it to your grave.

You move through the hallway, taking the sword off of the mantle on your fireplace, and carrying it in your hand. It doesn’t feel as heavy as it did before. You only learned how to use it to prevent more scars from showing up. To prevent people from asking questions.

You open the front door, and breathe a sigh of relief when you find that they’re not close to the door anymore.

You grab the lantern that hangs next to your door.

“You're getting bold. I’ll give you guys that.” You mutter, sitting on the steps to your house. The door shuts quietly. Just as it always has. You place the lantern down next to you, despite the sword’s glow being enough for you to see. Not that you needed light anyways, you’ve been in the mines enough to recognize when something was coming at you.
