Yes!! . . . Posted @withrepost • @whatsidwrites Reading remains, even after 564 years since the first published book, an underrated habit. If you are a writer, reading becomes all the more crucial to your very existence. Books aren't just a world that we can lose ourselves into. They are the crux of a person's entire lifetime of experiences. To write 'Oliver Twist', Dickens had to have studied the underbelly of Victorian era London. He would have seen how orphanages function under that facade of charity. More than that, he would have had to wrack his brains to form the structure of the story and the characters. Every good book is the result of decades of toil. And it has been handed to you for free (at least the classics). So, pick one up and study them as of your life depended on it. . . . . . . . . . #writingtip #writingtips #writingtips✏️ #writingtipsandtricks #writingtipoftheday #writingtiptuesday #writingtips101 #writingtipsfeatures #writingtipoftheweek #writingtipsforbeginners #writingtipsandprompts #writingtips✏️writingtips #writingtipsfromwriters #writingtipsandresources #writingtipstodiefor #writingtipsbyanonymous #writingtipsfrommasterwriters #writingtipsandtechniques #writingtipsoftheday #writingtipsweekend #writingcommunity #writinginspiration #writersofig #writersofinstagram #writingprompts #writingadvice #author #writerscommunity #writinghelp https://www.instagram.com/p/B1pyWVogUta/?igshid=uksje96mh2oo

Writing Tips From Writers Part 1
"If you are struggling with writing a character, write 20 things that the reader will never know about your character. These will naturally bleed into your writing and provide a richness, even though you don't share the detail." -Barbara Poelle
■ What Does It Mean?
It's the writer's job to make the fiction feel real. To make your fictional characters real, you need to know them better, (no ouija board or black magic required). You can know your characters better and make your 1 dimensional characters 3 dimensional by including some questions in their character profiles such as:
-What's their favourite childhood memory?
-What's their worst childhood memory?
-What did they want to be when they were little?
-What's their current mantra/philosophy of life?
-How would their mantra change by the end of the novel, if it does?
-What do they do when they are angry?
-How would you describe them in 3 words?
-How do they look when they are nervous?
-If they were to ever end up in jail, what would be their crime?
-In a dangerous situation, would they kill or get killed?
-What kind of traumatic incident can drive them insane?
-How long it took them to pass their driving test?
■ What Can You Do With These Details?
You can include these details in the novel, or release them on your social media account, or on your Patreon account. It's always upto if and how you want to share this knowledge about the characters with your readers.
But it can always remain a part of your character and make the writing process go smooth.
