do you ever just think of the military branches having their own “statehouse” but for the military branches and them having old videos from when they were wayyy younger of them just being total idiots? like a younger Navy acting like he’s a fish in the pool while Army is laughing at him and telling him to quit, Marine doing funny faces in the background, and Coast Guard recording, all on an old shitty video camera? No? Just me? Okay.

Do you have any Team Spirit Headcannons for the military branches? Like Army and National Guard (sense they're the only two that have shown up in WTTT), also unrelated but I'm utterly obsessed with your Team Spirit AU and I've been trying to catch up on all of it and just the way you explain major "plot" holes with how personifications work is amazing and I really really enjoy it all!!! <3
Aww, thanks for the kind words!
I'm just going to do a normal headcanon post about them anyway. Since Army’s is already pretty long, I’ll split their HCs into two posts.
Army Headcanons
Army’s Team Spirit consists of multiple dark green versions of various pieces of weaponry (kind of like how Azur Lane incorporates ship parts into their girls). This expresses how he is quite literally a “one man army.” However, they’re usually much smaller, more simple looking, or hidden when Army is off-duty or more relaxed. That is his Spirit’s default state. [#41533B]
The main weapons are two guns from the M1 Abram tank at his sides, which are always out. Other weapons that can deploy from his body include mini versions of the M142 attached to his shoulders and .50 caliber heavy machine guns. His hidden weapons can change depending on his current role, but the tank guns will be constant.
When Army feels on edge, angry, or scared, those weapons will deploy and shift to become larger and more realistic. They’ll also arm themselves and aim at whatever he feels is a target. They won’t actually cause any damage, but it sure looks intimidating if you can see it.
Army’s Spirit, like with his fellow branches, makes him look almost cyborg-like in appearance as the personifications are basically like supersoldiers.
Army’s Spirit also looks a bit bigger than other one million population personifications because of his large amounts of funding and infrastructure.
In addition to enlisted soldiers, Army’s community also includes civilian personnel and veterans. As long as the person has been a part of the US Army and still feels a connection towards it, they are included in Army’s population.
United States Army is also quite old as an American personification and is the oldest among the other branches (by a little), as he first came into existence as Continental Army in June of 1775.
A lot of the other military branches see Army as pretty dumb and boring. No thoughts, head empty. And he kind of is off-duty. However, get his work-mode going and he will show a high level of competence.
He is, however, not dumb enough to randomly reveal classified information. Spies tried getting him to do that during the Cold War and they failed miserably.
When in more of a commanding role, he becomes more of a helicopter parent to the soldiers.
These are mainly based on stereotypes for the different military branches.
Speaking of the supersoldier thing, with their immortality, enhanced physical ability, and immediate proficiency in a wide range of skills, the military personifications are very versatile and effective as individuals. If Army needs to be infantry, he can be infantry. If Army needs to be a field medic, he can be a field medic. If Army needs to command, he can command. He can be whatever his superiors need him to be in his fields.
It’s like a flick of a switch, give Army an order and his mindset will change to fit whatever role he needs to take.
This, of course, is very stressful since he’s expected to be able to do so much, so quickly, and with so many people counting on him for basically his entire existence. It’s a lot for someone with human psychology to handle, but hey, he’s not only a very seasoned soldier but also a personification, so they’re supposed to handle that just fine, right?
Army, like many of his fellow branches, can go to sleep anytime, anywhere. The only one who can’t is Air Force, who at least needs a pillow. And maybe a blanket. And something to cover the dirty ground. And a sleep mask while we’re at it.
I’m actually not too sure what Army’s rank would be. He’s too important to be just a private, but his immense physical ability would be wasted if he were just a commanding officer.
